Top Story

  • Intel's rumoured next-next generation Nova Lake processors have been rumoured again. (WCCFTech)

Albeit with more details this time.

The top of the line Core 9 model will reportedly include 16 performance cores, 32 efficiency cores, and 4 low-power efficiency cores.

    Which would be a lot.

    The next models down would be the Core 7, with 14 P-cores, 24 E-cores, and 4 LPE-cores.

However, both would use a base power of 150W, meaning - this being Intel - in reality they would run at more like 300W.

    Which is also a lot.

They would also - according to a separate rumour - provide 32 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 16 PCIe 4.0 lanes.

Not counting the PCIe 5.0 connection from the CPU to the chipset.

The CPU provides the same number of I/O lanes - at the same speed - as AMD's current chips. But the chipset does a lot better than AMD, providing 24 total PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 lanes, against AMD's 870E which uses two chips to provide just 12 PCIe 4.0 lanes.

    Oh, and DDR5-8000 memory.

8 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. 58 cloudy degrees here at Stately Poppins Manor. I can still hear an owl hooting away somewhere in the neighborhood, but the sun will be up soon, so he or she will be taking off in a bit.

Rain is supposed to be here later today, but who knows? I'm going to be napping the day away after work anyway.

Lost a friend to TDS last week. At least, I thought he was a friend, but if it can come to an end over Teh Donald, then it really wasn't a friendship at all, was it? No time right now to elaborate; I might later on.

Bought a book called The Self-Esteem Workbook over the weekend. Not really helpful - at least not for me. I can't get past my inborn cynicism and depression to objectively answer any of its questions.

A couple of hours' work ahead, so will talk to you all later. Perhaps.

I've known him for several years. We're both history and Beatle buffs and have exchanged many gifts.

I was in the local last Thursday when he came in, glared at me, then went to look for a seat. I asked, "Is something wrong?" to which he answered, "You're goddamn right something's wrong!"

Now, I piss off people just by existing, so I thought I must have done something bad and asked him what it was I had done.

"Do you like what's happening? Are you proud of this country?" he snarled. I told him that yes, I was proud of the country, to which he told me to get away before he did something, implying a violent reaction.

He really hurt me, because I thought we were friends. What was he pissed off about? ICE? No Kings? Padilla? I don't know and haven't been in contact. If he apologizes, I'll accept, but I will tell him how much he hurt me over something so stupid.

But I don't expect an apology or to see him again. And people wonder why I am co cynical.

Anyway, back to work.

28 "Oh, and DDR5-8000 memory."

Or, as border guards in East Germany once used to say, "Velkomm to de DDR."

Evening and morning, all! 'Tis Tiu's Day again. I'm up, sipping coffee, preparing to feed the felines, and making ready for my road trip today to Jackson, MS. Why there? The Country Squire, a rare full-speed tobacconist, is located there. They offer a lot of name brand pipe tobaccos, a bunch of their own blends (I've tried and loved one, and want to obtain more of it), pre-owned pipes and new ones, etc. Plus, you know, road trip!

I could have gone on Saturday, but I thought the NoKangz Day would not be a good time to be traveling around.

Miss Linda is excited. She can come over in the early afternoon and spoil the cats. She says she and Stirling will smoke catnip and invite all the neighborhood ferals in for a wild party. . . .

Sorry MP4.

I used to think COVID was mainly about the medical industry. I'm beginning to appreciate that it was also an op to normalize hatred at other Americans who have different opinions and beliefs than you.

We're seeing the fruits of that psy-op now, and without conscious effort by Americans to remember what being an American is all about it will only continue to get worse.

I assume that means it is only going to get worse.

I don't keep myself hidden away but neither do I seek to re-establish contact with people from my past. It has nothing to do with them. I look back at the me of that time and feel nothing but the most acute shame. Seeing or talking to them again could only be embarrassing for them and humiliating for me. Though certainly I'd respond to any approach cordially. There's never been one.

71 The amazing thing is that they don’t even care what happens to them when they have to land after jumping so high.

Got a tour of the K9 unit at work. The guy was telling us about his Malligator (Which is the word I use for that breed.).

"If I throw this ball off a cliff, he will go after it. He doesn't care."

72 I’m convinced most of these ‘regular’ people with severe TDS are basically news junkies who can’t turn off CNN or MSNBC and still believe everything shovel of shit they’re getting from the talking heads on their TV.

Once you leave the corporate news plantation the rage and psychosis subsides eventually.

73 I can handle disagreements between friends. If you are going to cancel me because of politics, just go right on ahead and do it.

I'm not going to mind my tongue around you. Ever.

74 There are lots of truck stops and travel centers along the Interstate, so if I need a pit stop, facilities are always there.

Try a Buc-ees if they have a location on your route.

I haven’t been to one, but I’m told it’s the best gas station/convenience store known to mankind.

They do appear to be loyal little show-offs with no regard for personal safety.

Perfect soldiers. ;-)

77 I used to think COVID was mainly about the medical industry. I'm beginning to appreciate that it was also an op to normalize hatred at other Americans who have different opinions and beliefs than you.

78 Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. As I said, I expect neither apology nor contact, but if anything happens, I'll let you know.

One of the many curses of living in Maskachusetts.

Only one in MS right now, according to their home page, and it's way in the other direction. But when I drive to Indiana, there is one in Alabama, north of Birmingham, right on my route.

81 "True, RC. But politics is only a small part of who I am. I was never into such things at all for many many years. C.J. (his name) and I go back to seventh grade, age twelve, and grew up together. He was more my brother than my younger brother was. If trying to restore at least some of that means staying away from certain topics, so be it."

Well....hold the memories of that childhood near to your heart. Realize that C.J. has free will and can move in directions that you don't wish to go.

Or as we used to say: "Friends come and go, but enemies accumulate."

I got nothing soothing, which fits the nick of course.

82 Aurelius - good luck on your trip to Jackson. I live right outside and my wife works there. Weather very overcast as of 7:11.

83 Zoroaster sometimes known as Zarathustra was the prophet who founded Zoroastranism.

Ahura Mazda vs Ahriman (which we could correlate to a supreme deity of good vs demon of evil) locked in an eternal struggle

Very important in temples of Ahura Mazda are the sacred flame.

That's all I know

And I think they have psalms/hymns

Ironically closer in spirit to Judaism and Christianity than Islam, imo.

84 The article by Miguel Gringberg was a breathe of sanity in a world promoting AI far beyond it's capabilities. As a programmer, I finally felt vindicated that my reluctance to use AI to help me write code wasn't just me being an old man yelling, "Get Off My Lawn!" to the AI bot. Thanks for that link!
