It's Thursday. One more day till the weekend. Got the US Open starting today in beautiful Oakmont CC outside of Pittsburgh. Then, on Saturday, the greatest motorsport event of them all begins, and then end 24 hours later: The 24 Hours of LeMans. It will be on HBO Max and MotortrendTV in the USA.

I had a lovely conversation with a pretty older woman with a sweet spirit and a gentle voice at the market who was new to being a cashier but so far, enjoyed it.

"$2M pay package" at Meta: Note the word 'package'. A lot of that is going to be stock in the company, which may not vest for years, and which they might lose if they're laid off or fired.
Caveat emptor, read the fine print, really really closely, hire a lawyer to tear that contract apart and find out where they're setting you up, because at that compensation level, they almost assuredly are. Oh, and save what they pay you, because when this bubble bursts because everyone catches on that the results are unreliable (which does NOT mesh well with engineering roles) and the liability sue-balls start getting trebuchet-launched back and forth, those jobs are gone like a fart in the wind. There are plenty of India-made leather laptop/briefcase models on eBay for less than $100. They *look* great. We should send SEAL Team 6, with 75th Ranger Battalion in support to raid their compounds. Seize the computers and other records, along with their money. For the debt reduction. But we have the best government money can buy, below the top line. Posted by: NaCly Dog at June 12, 2025 06:53 AM (u82oZ) 87

Are there any procedures to remove obviously incompetent and actively unhelpful leaders like Karen Bass?

Hard to say from the brief video, but those wings appear clean. There should be flaps deployed for that heavy takeoff. And maybe they are, just not visible from the video perspective: https://tinyurl.com/492bt7p9 Posted by: one hour sober at June 12, 2025 07:09 AM (Y1sOo) 105

The French Army, after losing to Prussia in 1871, ended the Paris Commune with the lost of 20,000 lives. Over 1,000 were sent into exile, mostly to the Solomon Islands. Based on our larger population, that loss rate works out to 186,000 in America. I'd like to avoid that. Posted by: NaCly Dog at June 12, 2025 07:10 AM (u82oZ) 106
