PCI SIG has released the final specification for PCIe 7.0, and is busy working on PCIe 8.0. (Liliputing)

PCIe 7.0 runs is twice as fast as PCIe 6.0, which is twice as fast as PCIe 5.0, and so on. Even a single lane of PCIe 7.0 will keep your RTX 4090 happy.

PCIe 6.0 isn't shipping in devices yet, though test rigs are showing up, and PCIe 5.0 graphics cards only appeared six months ago. So don't expect the new slots soon - although PCIe 5.0 motherboards did reach the market surprisingly quickly.

Unless it's very cheap. The Radeon 9060 XT and Geforce 5060 Ti both come in 8GB versions, but this has already become the bottleneck for game performance. With the 9060 XT you have 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0 so it at least tries to keep up, but if you're on a budget you might not have a PCIe 5.0 motherboard in the first place, which would cut that bandwidth in half.

And if you only have x8 available on the main slot because you have something else plugged in, by half again.

Which is bad.

And if you don't care about game performance, buy something cheap like the trusty RX 580.
If you have enough memory, though, this isn't a problem at all. (TechPowerUp)

These guys tested the RTX 4090, and PCIe 3.0 x16 or PCIe 4.0 x8 don't bottleneck this card at all.

If you drop all the way back to PCIe 2.0 for some weird reason, you're still losing only 8% of performance even with this high-end card. The slowdown only become significant when you slow the interface even further.

10 Although people IRL can sometimes be difficult or inpatient or crabby ( me as well) I am grateful that unlike Cloudfare and tinyurl I do not have to "verify I'm human " before I interact with them. I had a lovely conversation with a pretty older woman with a sweet spirit and a gentle voice at the market who was new to being a cashier but so far, enjoyed it.

Caveat emptor, read the fine print, really really closely, hire a lawyer to tear that contract apart and find out where they're setting you up, because at that compensation level, they almost assuredly are.

Oh, and save what they pay you, because when this bubble bursts because everyone catches on that the results are unreliable (which does NOT mesh well with engineering roles) and the liability sue-balls start getting trebuchet-launched back and forth, those jobs are gone like a fart in the wind.

43 I also plan to drop my ancient and still solid Eddie Bauer leather messenger bag/briefcase/saddlebag at a local leather and shoe repair place. It needs restitching in two places, a new grip handle, and a new pad for the shoulder strap. Not bad for thirty-one years in my service.

There are plenty of India-made leather laptop/briefcase models on eBay for less than $100. They *look* great. But none have the combination of pockets that the EB does . . . and the EB has been through a lot with me: periods of unemployment plus six jobs, road trips, rain, snow, hot sun, and more.

Mexican settlers? Los Angeles was founded by Felipe de Neve y Padilla, a Spanish soldier who served as Governor of the Californias. He was born in Spain, which is in EUROPE. He was EUROPEAN. Governor de Neve's primary motivation was to solidify Spain's claim over the territory.

Nah it was founded by Spain and it was part of New Spain, not “Mexico”.

It only remained part of an independent “Mexico” for a couple of decades. As most territories ceded to the US, it went almost directly from New Spain to the US.

Today’s Mexicans moved there much later on.

I hope AI in programming is better than AI in Voice to Text. VtT has two many problems knowing the correct usage/spelling in there programming. I would hope improper usage/spelling wouldn't affect they're work.

It would suck having to manually go through a million lines of code looking for the correct their/there/they're usage two/too/to.

This is already being done at most software companies.

As someone who is using AI to build an ERP, it’s indispensable, I know how to program in C++ and Visual Basic but the ERP is going to be a cross-platform web app using a standard web stack, I’ve never built an app using a web stack, ai is allowing me to accomplish by myself what would have taken 10s of thousands of dollars in consulting fees and hundreds of thousands of dollars in paying developers.

Its become indispensable to my workflow.
