Elon Musk: I'm Sorry, My Late Night Attacks on Trump "Went Too Far"

Our long short national nightmare diversion is over.

President Trump is feeling good about Elon Musk's apology after the former "first buddy" admitted late Tuesday he had gone "too far" in his personal attacks on the commander-in-chief.

"I thought it was very nice that he did that," the president told The Post in a brief phone conversation Wednesday morning, but didn't say whether he was willing to let bygones be bygones with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

Musk, 53, went off on Trump in a series of social media messages this past Thursday, at one point claiming the Republican would not have won the 2024 election without his help and suggesting the president was responsible for preventing the release of files on convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein due to his past association with the late financier.

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote late Tuesday after previously deleting his post about the Epstein files.

...

Trump told Post columnist Miranda Devine Monday that he doesn't "blame" Musk for the blow-up that started with the former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) figure's criticisms of the Big Beautiful Bill -- but maintained that he's "a little disappointed."

"Look, I have no hard feelings," Trump said. "I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that's phenomenal. ...He just -- I think he feels very badly that he said that, actually."

When asked whether he would ever go back to a regular relationship with Musk, Trump told Devine's "Pod Force One" podcast: "I guess I could, but we have to straighten out the country."

"And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it's ever been. And I think we can do that."

23 There's a film on HBO/MAX right now titled Mountainhead about 3 billionaire and 1 half-billionaire tech guys doing a weekend reunion with each other as the world goes to shit because the richest one owns a Twitter like social media platform that is causing riots and governments to fail because of AI videos starting trouble. They then decide to start coups around the world as they realize their own power.

It's a mildly amusing dark comedy and quite current topic.

As coincidence, I'd just watched it for the first time a few days before the Great Elon-Don Flame War of 2025.

Now I can't help but think of that flick when I think of those two.

Trump's Director of the OMB, Russ Vought, has been saying for weeks that they chose these relatively small cuts to test the process and the appetite for these cuts. If it works they will send more substantial ones. If it doesn't they have other means at their disposal.

And some of the discretionary spending will expire without any action because it was short term spending and not an annual outlay.

Information goes a little differently with me, though. I don't buy into any one view. I don't swallow information simply because I use it.

That was too much for me. If Elon wanted to sleep on a cot at work (which is pretty much the story from hostile sources) it didn't mean that other people needed to take it that far.

IIRC, he even started offering cots to employees that wanted to show him their stuff.

Again, overall, although I think the cuts were his business--especially the overspending for chefs and crap--how late people work and where people sleep is not.

And I've had the type of career where my wife is calling me at 10pm wondering if I was coming home. Or sometimes at 1 am, depending on how distracted I am about the problem I'm fixing.

And eventually the noise got so big they brought out a certificate of live birth document image, to which Trump said, "so what?"

And then the rest of the world started pulling the image apart.

My guess is this is just a way to push the groundling demand for the Epstein files to be released, because the best organic demand is one you yourself create.

Not real familiar with the trope, apparently.

Where did you get this idea from? This was at the start of Covid, Elon was liberal, his ex-wife and mother of the child is a liberal Canadian, he was living with someone who was also liberal and he was being told his child would commit suicide if he did not do this. He was told it could be reversed. This was actually the catalyst for his red pilling. If you are being told your child will die by his mother, the therapist, the psychiatrist, your girlfriend, and you are part of that tribe, the manipulation is horrific. Elon’s child has zero relationship with him now, because Elon is opposed to what happened and is happening. It’s really a terrible situation all the way around.

245 Inside EVs, Why Are Tesla Superchargers Suddenly Getting Removed In New Jersey?
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority asked Tesla to decommission dozens of reliable Superchargers along the key highway corridor. Jun 2, 25

Bullet points -
Electric vehicle drivers in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania will be majorly affected by the removal of dozens of Tesla Superchargers along the Interstate 95.

Applegreen Electric chargers will take their place. The two networks co-exist at some plazas. Going forward, they won't be allowed to co-locate.

Tesla offered better terms and upgrades. But NJTA awarded exclusive rights to Applegreen for the chargers at travel plazas along the Turnpike.

In small part, "Applegreen is an Irish company which operates travel plazas in the U.K., Ireland and the U.S.—many of which are on the NJ Turnpike."

257 do you guys remember I mentioned a friend of my daughter, came out as lesbian during high school, but towards senior year the mom was telling me how she was being pressured to fully trans her?

so I loved this girl, sweet thing, and worked and worked on her parents to get them to accept her as a healthy lesbian and not do this. but they did not really accept her, and were excited to have a "son" instead of a lesbian.

I really tried and thought I'd won them over! thru graduation she was (I thought) a happy butch, took a nice girl to prom, etc.

so yeah about that .. after graduation (college) they caught up and now ... is a he. new name surgeries, the whole deal. UGH

just ... well her parents are happy anyway I guess. look at our son! isn't he cool!

this sucks - but damn it really sucks for lesbians in a lot of ways. they are in the crosshairs

258 I think the issue is pretty similar or at least it should be to people around here.

Musk sacrificed a lot to do the DOGE thing and as someone who is used to getting what he wants he was frustrated by the legislative process that never allows anyone to get whatever they want. DC is not a business.

So he popped his cork when Trump couldn't change reality and make it all happen.

I have a friend who is going through this with his adult but dependent son. The kid wants to trans into a woman.

My friend is trying to find alternate resources than the existing therapist who has been pushing the trans stuff but when he goes out to try and find non-trans therapists, they don't exist... or at least he can't find any in the Vegas area.

My friend is extremely religious... he saw some shit in the GWOT and has sent people to meet Jesus - so I'm kind of worried about the whole situation.

Well put.

Again, I think Musk's engineer mindset is you manipulate problems out of your way. And while that's often a compromise made between the worst side of all possible approaches, it's not the purely social political compromise.

And people are going to stand in your way, because you're not fixing their issue in return, or they're not getting anything out of it, or they just want to stand where it's safe.

Off the top of my head, I'd say he just didn't see that as a theme.

278 Tesla offered better terms and upgrades. But NJTA awarded exclusive rights to Applegreen for the chargers at travel plazas along the Turnpike.

In small part, "Applegreen is an Irish company which operates travel plazas in the U.K., Ireland and the U.S.—many of which are on the NJ Turnpike."
Posted by: L

That contract definitely needs to be looked at. Tesla comes in cheaper, and yet they give it to a higher dollar company.

Pretty sure the trans stuff is an extension of the severe clinical depression the kid's been suffering with for years.

I believe my friend has taken him to the church and tried to get him to become part of that community but I don't know enough about the situation to know if that's helped or not.

I know my friend is suffering greatly with the whole situation. The mental and emotional anguish has manifest in his physical body and is slowly killing him

280 239 I got a lot of shit for saying that I don't trust Elon. I don't trust people whose motivations are something other than the peace and prosperity of the US. He might say that those are his goals, but in reality, the only motivation, the only "ideology" that Musk has is going to Mars. Thats the single animus behind everything he does. He realized that without the US, he can't get the Mars so the brief moment he had of political awareness - he focused his energies in that direction.

He might have been aligned with us, but he's not a fellow traveller.
Posted by: Defenestratus at June 11, 2025 05:35 PM (WYStd)
I believe Elon is smart enough that he knows UNTIL he gets to Mars, this blue marble in space is all he's got. We're all in the same boat for now and we have to repel boarders together.
