"The FBI is actively tracing the money trail," former FBI Executive Assistant Director Chris Piehota told Just the News, explaining that law enforcement is likely targeting the financial and logistical support structures behind the riots. "They have become professional rabble-rousers...financed around the country to show up at different events and cause problems," he added.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said he believes the protests are being manipulated by foreign interests. "They hate this country," Biggs said Monday. "Not a doubt in my mind" that foreign actors, including Mexico's government, are helping to stoke the unrest. He pointed to President Claudia Sheinbaum's past statements about mobilizing against U.S. immigration policy as evidence.
One organization helping lead the initial protests was CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights), which staged one of the earliest rallies last week and is part of a broader progressive activist network. Though CHIRLA claims it did not participate in the violence, it has drawn attention for its heavy reliance on taxpayer funding.
According to state filings, CHIRLA received nearly $34 million in 2023, most of it from California state contracts. The Biden administration had also awarded the group nearly $200,000 in federal grants before President Trump terminated that funding earlier this year.
Meanwhile, far-left activist groups like the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), with known ties to the Chinese Communist Party, have also taken credit for organizing the protests. PSL is part of a broader web of anti-American groups tied to Neville Roy Singham, a pro-CCP billionaire who resides in Shanghai and has poured millions into leftist causes across the United States, including anti-ICE and anti-Israel demonstrations.

The FBI is showing itself to be redeemable. Pam Bondi says they successfully identified one of the attempted murderers of the terrorist riots.

Federal agents have tracked down a suspect who violently attacked law enforcement during the weekend's anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed Monday night. The man, identified by Bondi as "Reyes," was allegedly seen on video breaking cinderblocks and hurling the fragments at federal officers amid the chaos.
"That guy has just been identified, and they are doing a search warrant on his house as we speak," Bondi announced during an appearance on Hannity. She described Reyes as "still at large," but made clear he would soon be placed on the FBI's most wanted list.
The Los Angeles field office of the FBI had previously announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect, who is wanted for assaulting a federal officer and damaging government property.
Bondi emphasized that the attack wasn't incidental, recounting how the suspect "was breaking up the cinder blocks and he was throwing them" directly at federal law enforcement officials. "He has been identified by great police work by the FBI," she said. "So you can run. You can't hide. We are coming after you, federally."
Bondi's remarks also served as a broader message to other rioters and agitators involved in the weekend unrest. "If you assault a police officer, if you rob a store, if you loot, if you spit on a police officer, we're coming after you," she warned.

Well, that is the big question, isn't it? I would suggest that our own intel agencies, at the very least, allow the cartels to exist, if they are not actively involved in the cartels existing and being protected in the first place.

Kind of like what they now admit was going on between intel services and the Italian mafia from the 1930's through the 1960's (if not longer).

Because I find it hard to believe that, especially with the constant "terrorists could smuggle nuclear weapons across the border!" rhetoric post-911, our government, 22 intel agencies, military, FBI, etc. are unable to identify and shut down the cartels.

I'm nothing like an expert on AZ politics, but I've heard it asserted for a long time that the cartels own AZ politics and have for a while.

That's my assumption: that that assertion is true and that, if the DOJ is going to attack cartel functions in the US, it's gonna deeply impact the state's politics.

But yes, deporting illegals is going to have material effects on every state with loose election rules. Get rid of 100,000 illegals from AZ, clean up the voter rolls (which can happen from outside the state government), and then there's suddenly far fewer ballots available to manufacture in a given election.

AZ has been ordered to clean up their voter roles. They lost in court and are in the process of getting the job done. Anecdotally, the local sheriff department, I talked to some deputies recently, believes they'll be able to get a better handle on gang activity, due to a new attitude from the federal government. I don't see how people aren't seeing the future they're building for the middle class and their own kids. If you are arguing for no taxes on anything, then I'll support that. But that's not the world we live in. The money being sent overseas is taken out of the USA economy. Normally it would circulate around and boost our economy. The $100 example above means nothing, but in total it's 100s of billions a year. That's a big drain. So it should be taxed to make up for that, and to make it less attractive to do. And the gov't does need money.

License costs you ten bucks, and you have to prove your legal status. You can only remit to close family members out of country, no random schmoes. Each remittance has to go through the Bureau, which will attach a five-dollar fee per transaction.

A relatively minor hurdle for legal residents sending money to Ma and Pa back in the old country, but a roadblock to illegals remitting.

So I worked on a case where (long story short) an entire construction company in queens was essentially a front for ... someone in China. Presumably the government.

This company broke every labor and employment law imaginable, was being sued by every unit owner who bought a unit, was accused of bribing the building inspector (who seemed to be related to someone involved in the scheme), and all the money, as far as anyone could tell, that the company and employees made was sent back to China, so unreachable by my client who had a very valid case against the company. Oh, and I'd say there's a very good shot the company paid zero in US taxes, although I don't know that for sure.

I regularly wire money from my own account to some other account I own at a different bank, or to an outside (USA) account (such as for a capital call). Do you know what I had to go through to set that up? All kinds of ID checks and verifications, etc. And I'm charged every time I wire my own money to something I'm buying or investing in.

I spent some time reading about tax averse ex-pats and how they and the government went back and forth on ways to avoid paying taxes to the US.

And...at least as of now the US government has a leviathan that will catch almost any American that moves out of the country to try to avoid taxes - this is presumably the infrastructure you ran into.

Now, if it ok to do this to American citizens why isn't it fair to do it to non-citizens? Remember a significant portion of the money being sent overseas is laundered welfare money.

The wiring company takes a fee, yes.

But most of the remittances to Mexico and Central America are done using Venmo / Zelle / Cash App (or back in the day, Western Union). The person just registers in their own country either using a US phone number or their own phone number.

Since you don't need a SSN to open a bank account, no one knows who is sending this money, where it is truly going, and the exact amount of money. And of course, no one taxes it.

A place are worked use to go to a Tex Mex American place for celebrations. One day we went to an authentic place in a Mexican area and it was almost tasteless and much hot sauce was used.

This was some 40 years ago so they might have gotten better at it.
