It really does sound lke something that could happen if Dale ever figured it out. Actor Jonathan Joss — best known for his voice work on the iconic animated TV comedy “King of Hill” — was shot dead by a neighbor in Texas, according to police. Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into an argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, police said. The unnamed gunman then fled in a vehicle but was arrested just a block away. This Can't Be Good Unknown Species of Bacteria Discovered in China's Space Station Swabs from China's Tiangong space station reveal traces of a bacterium unseen on Earth, with characteristics that may help it function under stressful environmental conditions hundreds of kilometers above the planet's surface. Naming their discovery after the station, researchers from the Shenzhou Space Biotechnology Group and the Beijing Institute of Spacecraft System Engineering say the study of Niallia tiangongensis and similar species could be "essential" in protecting astronaut health and spacecraft functionality over long missions. The swabs were taken from a cabin on board the space station in May 2023 by the Shenzhou-15 crew as part of one of two surveys by the China Space Station Habitation Area Microbiome Programme. Follow-up studies have traced the growth of microbes that inhabit the space station environment, revealing a microbiome that differs in both composition and function from the one found on the International Space Station.A previously unknown strain of bacteria that is hearty enough to survive in space...isn't that the plot of a gajillion sci-fi stories where mankind dies off? Islam Suicidal Empathy and the Impending Death of Western Reason This is not a clash of races, but of creeds. Islam is not merely a private faith, it is a totalizing worldview. It prescribes law, diet, dress, governance, and even thought. Its resistance to pluralism is doctrinal, not incidental. While Western liberalism separates church from state, Islam fuses mosque and state. And the mosque, contrary to Western assumptions, has never been merely a house of worship. From the time of Muhammad, the mosque functioned as a military base and political headquarters. Muhammad stored weapons there, coordinated raids, and mobilized troops. For today’s Islamists, especially in the West, the mosque is often seen as a beachhead, a staging ground for ideological conquest. Europe is now home to over 20,000 mosques, and the US to approximately 3,000. Each new structure is not merely an architectural addition, but for some, a symbolic assertion of Islamic dominance. Importing this system under the banner of tolerance risks importing the very intolerance we sought to escape. Let us be candid. A civilization that teaches children to memorize scripture but not to reason, that views women as vessels of temptation rather than equal citizens, that punishes blasphemy with death but excuses violence in the name of faith, is not a civilization poised to flourish in the 21st century. But while it will not flourish, it can still destroy. And if we in the West are not vigilant, we may allow these backward ideas and the people who cling to them to tear apart our societies from within. Why Islam Is Incompatible with the West Western ethics were shaped by centuries of struggle, refinement, and philosophical evolution, centered on the value of the individual and the pursuit of the common good. Different schools of thought (deontology, utilitarianism, and virtue ethics) each established conditions for defining right and wrong. At their core, they sought to benefit society as a whole, not just a specific group. Even religious morality in the West, rooted in Judeo-Christian values, was examined, questioned, and, when necessary, reinterpreted. If a commandment contradicted the overarching principle of the common good, it was viewed in its historical context, allowing moral progress to continue. This process never stopped. Over time, Western civilization granted more rights, more freedoms, and more personal agency. Islam, by contrast, operates under a completely different ethical framework. A Muslim’s moral compass is not shaped by philosophical discourse, societal evolution, or the refinement of ideas through time. Instead, it is dictated entirely by the Quran, the Hadith, and the lives of Islam’s pioneers. The problem? These sources were built upon the values of 6th-century Arabian tribalism. And those values (violence, conquest, subjugation of women, suppression of dissent, and the elimination of non-believers) are not just historical artifacts. They are considered eternal truths.Lots to think about in those two articles. And frankly, unless we as a society wake up and face the fact that however inclusive and equitable we want to be, being welcoming and inclusive to a group whose goal is the destruction of our way of life is suicide. We're like the people on the top of the skyscraper when the aliens arrive in Independence Day. And we will share their fate. An Exhibition Of Circle Jerkery What Went Wrong In ‘Jordan Peterson Vs 20 Atheists’ The debate arena in question is captured in a video titled “1 Christian vs 20 Atheists”— or at least that’s what it was called for about four hours. When Peterson, true to form if not to intellectual honesty, refused, mid-debate, to embrace the designation of Christian — or, for that matter, of non-Christian — Jubilee (the sponsors of this clickbait mess) were compelled to rethink the title, eventually landing on the more accurate “Jordan Peterson vs 20 Atheists.” I feel their pain. Having carefully watched the video in full multiple times, I had a similar problem. Titling this article has proved more difficult than writing it. I considered everything from “21 Smug People Talk About A Subject None Of Them Understands, Least of All Jordan Peterson” to “Jordan Peterson Debates The Existence Of A God, But Not One Any Of Us Have Ever Heard of.” In fact, at no time is it clear exactly what position Peterson is defending, and that’s more than a little problematic in a debate. But I’m getting ahead of myself.I've seen clips. The whole thing looks like a cluster. China All The Shoals They are destroying us. Part of the reason all our companies are such sh*tshows when it comes to how they treat employees is because it’s easier and cheaper to buy Chinesium. Yes, they steal our stuff, and the stuff they make isn’t very good, and we have to take it on faith they’re putting in what they say they’re putting in. And sure, we know they use slaves and political prisoners and everyone in the most unethical way possible. But they sure are cheap, aren’t they? And if a company is using them, it makes a lot more money than everyone else around. And so, the next company starts using it, and then the next. And the next. Even if they wouldn’t use every bit of what they have against us — and they will — they are destroying our culture, our industry, our ability to innovate and survive, because slaves are cheaper to buy. Yes, sure, their product is never as good, but they’re cheaper. We need to decouple from China. We need to decouple from China hard. It’s going to hurt. But it is absolutely worth it. Our survival depends on it.Not really much more to say. Tonight's ONT has been brought to you by police chases: — ONT WTF (@OntWtf) June 6, 2025 Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

I can't help thinking the way to neutralize China's low wage advantage is to go in the absolute opposite direction, and focus on "employee owned" companies. It removes the wage factor from the equation to some extent.
It, also, has interesting and positive side effects relative to the performance of employees. When someone has skin in the game, those long hours aren't as long. Quality well made products are reflective of the individual employee. And, acquisitions/ manufacturing ends up cheering on the marketing department and vice versa. When the company shines, everyone benefits. That's a hell of a motivator. Posted by: Orson at June 05, 2025 10:12 PM (dIske) 24

It's possible, I suppose. I think it was legit. Would the purpose be? It allows Trump to reframe the bill and push for changes? He may have more leverage over the Congressional GOP if he's like "Hey, I dunno, guy is crazy. I don't know if I can control him, he might fund 3rd party challengers to every single Republican and wipe out the party. So we'd better work with him." Yeah, it's bad. I'm hoping it's part of a larger plan, but I dunno. I guess one of three outcomes: - It's part of a plan we haven't seen the end-state of. It may surprise us all. - Trump is trying, but there's a lot of unseen pressure on him. He's been through this before. He was shot at. I think he takes this seriously. (I hope.) So he's doing what he can, but he can't do everything. The fact he's even trying this stuff shows us so much. The courts can block every order; illegals can still get better treatment than citizens, no matter who the American people vote for; spending cannot be cut even after DOGE showed that a large chunk of the Federal bureaucracy is just a corrupt self-licking ice cream cone working for the Democrats/communists. We can't get the GOPe to touch that. So this is Trump's way of illustrating how bad it is, while still fighting on all fronts. Of showing us what needs to be done. - He's just a sellout. Then we'll know the system cannot be reformed. Posted by: Disinterested FDA Director at June 05, 2025 10:45 PM (l3YAf) Posted by: Mister Ghost at June 05, 2025 10:45 PM (TGPs7) 110

If you want to see why Communism always fails, just attend American public school. It provides many vivid examples of why Marxism can never work. Perhaps none more vivid than the "group assignment." I was a smart kid, so they would pair me with dumb kids to "bring up the average." I was supposed to help them. I didn't mind this, per se. I was willing to do part of the teachers' jobs for them. But the other kids wouldn't even try. They wouldn't even help. I'd complain to the teacher. "Well, you're supposed to be helping them. They look up to you." Bitch, they ain't even trying. I'm willing to pull some of their weight if they at least tried, but they just sit and talk about Linkin' Park. So, fuck it, I tank the project. My GPA can take the hit, theirs can't. Meanwhile, in Ukraine:
1. In the northeast, the Ukrainians continue to pour men and equipment over the border into one tiny pocket that has one small village. They are taking a fearful hammering in the process. The Russians are conducting a major offensive just twenty miles away, and could easily divert forces to simply crush the Ukrainians and hurl them back over the border. One might almost suspect this is intentional on the part of the Russians. 2. Elsewhere, the Russians continue to push forward all along the battle front. The long crawl forward by the Russians has turned into a brisk walk. 3. In the southern city of Kherson, the block-long city hall, presumably being used as a military headquarters by the Ukrainians, was leveled by hits with glide bombs. The Russians reportedly now have glide bombs with a range of 98 km (60 miles) from point of release. Posted by: Idaho Spudboy at June 05, 2025 10:51 PM (Vtt91) 124

The greatest weakness in battle that Muslims have is their conviction that Allah wills everything. They are taught to believe this at a level that anyone would consider insane, and it’s all of them. They start out a war full of confidence Allah is with them - but as soon as the battle goes badly, they realize that Allah does not want them to win that day.

You're probably undervaluing your abilities. I don't know much about corporate law, but in my experience lots of talented people undersell themselves because of insecurity. (Ironically, lots of mediocre people oversell themselves because of ignorance.) I don't know how it is in your world, but I always applied to jobs I wasn't "qualified" for. Like, I didn't have the degree they wanted or number of years experience, but I was confident in my abilities. I felt I could do the job they were offering. So I applied. A surprising number responded. I don't think I've ever had a job in my career I was on-paper "qualified" for. I learned to ignore the "requirements" and just apply and then sell myself. Hopefully this has been helpful. Posted by: Disinterested FDA Director at June 05, 2025 11:20 PM (l3YAf) 195

Ethanol makes me sick. For small engines, I learned quickly, do not get that shit anywhere near them.
During Helene, I loaned a neighbor some ethanol-free I had on hand, about 10 gallons, to keep his generator going. They let us borrow their freezer space. He replaced it, even though I told him not to worry. And it was with ethanol. That stuff was gone in two months. And I got mixed up, and put some in a little tiller. Wouldn't start a lick. I then noticed it, and remembered what happened. Best way to tell is look at how it evaporates. A film of the stuff on say a metal pan, just won't evaporate right when it's gone. There'll be an off smell as well. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at June 06, 2025 12:27 AM (w6EFb) 348

Posted by: Hatari Somewhere on Ventura Highway at June 06, 2025 12:34 AM (WF/xn) I saw a really weird one once. '50 Studebaker Champion. Six cylinder, one-barrel carb. Would flood like a bastard at idle; put it in "Drive", and go a couple hundred yards, and it would starve for fuel and die. Three or four people had the carb apart, me twice, could not find anything wrong. Except the second time, I found the brass fitting for the float needle seat had come unscrewed, and forced the float right down, so the needle was hard against the seat. Enough gas would flow through the threads around the outside of the seat for it to flood at idle, but the engine's demand at cruise was more than could by the threads. Two twists with a screwdriver fixed it. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at June 06, 2025 12:40 AM (MmQbL) 370

Trump and Elon are both billionaires who don’t need any of this. They could both be living large, away from the broken border invasion and debt mess and nasty political problems they did not create. Instead, they chose to sacrifice everything for America. Elon spent billions to expose the truth and turn the tide for us. Trump faced 400 years in prison over Marxist law fare for us. Elon watched his prize businesses burn for us. Trump took a literal bullet to the head for us. Neither of them had to do it—but they did. Not for power. Not for profit. For America. The stress these men endure on a day to day basis would crush any one of us. I’m thankful for Trump and Elon for saving Western Civilization. That is why I am praying for Elon and Trump right now. Darkness sews division. Evil can never create, it can only destroy. Blessed are the Peacemakers. God is on our side. Keep praying. Don't ask me why, but it's soothing to watch men and women take hunks of metal, heat and hammer away until they have a hardened blade and 'by attaqching handles, turning them into fully functional knives.. . . ."
It's a skill humans have been perfecting for 5 to 6,000 years now. But there's something about that show. And those 'weapons from History' blades they forge for the final, just wow. The difference between Islam and Christianity is simple:
One is forced to submit to allah. Christianity is based on free will, the acceptance of God (Love) in your life, or not. It is why the Founding Fathers based all of what we hold as truth, on individual liberty. Love is what we worship as the G-O-D word. Hell is eternity without love.
