‘King of the Hill’ voice actor Jonathan Joss killed in Texas shooting after argument with neighbor He voiced John Redcorn, the Indian who was sleeping with Dale's wife. It really does sound lke something that could happen if Dale ever figured it out.
Actor Jonathan Joss — best known for his voice work on the iconic animated TV comedy “King of Hill” — was shot dead by a neighbor in Texas, according to police. Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into an argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, police said. The unnamed gunman then fled in a vehicle but was arrested just a block away.
This Can't Be Good Unknown Species of Bacteria Discovered in China's Space Station
Swabs from China's Tiangong space station reveal traces of a bacterium unseen on Earth, with characteristics that may help it function under stressful environmental conditions hundreds of kilometers above the planet's surface. Naming their discovery after the station, researchers from the Shenzhou Space Biotechnology Group and the Beijing Institute of Spacecraft System Engineering say the study of Niallia tiangongensis and similar species could be "essential" in protecting astronaut health and spacecraft functionality over long missions. The swabs were taken from a cabin on board the space station in May 2023 by the Shenzhou-15 crew as part of one of two surveys by the China Space Station Habitation Area Microbiome Programme. Islam Suicidal Empathy and the Impending Death of Western Reason
This is not a clash of races, but of creeds. Islam is not merely a private faith, it is a totalizing worldview. It prescribes law, diet, dress, governance, and even thought. Its resistance to pluralism is doctrinal, not incidental. While Western liberalism separates church from state, Islam fuses mosque and state. And the mosque, contrary to Western assumptions, has never been merely a house of worship. From the time of Muhammad, the mosque functioned as a military base and political headquarters. Muhammad stored weapons there, coordinated raids, and mobilized troops. For today’s Islamists, especially in the West, the mosque is often seen as a beachhead, a staging ground for ideological conquest. Europe is now home to over 20,000 mosques, and the US to approximately 3,000. Each new structure is not merely an architectural addition, but for some, a symbolic assertion of Islamic dominance. Why Islam Is Incompatible with the West
Western ethics were shaped by centuries of struggle, refinement, and philosophical evolution, centered on the value of the individual and the pursuit of the common good. Different schools of thought (deontology, utilitarianism, and virtue ethics) each established conditions for defining right and wrong. At their core, they sought to benefit society as a whole, not just a specific group. Even religious morality in the West, rooted in Judeo-Christian values, was examined, questioned, and, when necessary, reinterpreted. If a commandment contradicted the overarching principle of the common good, it was viewed in its historical context, allowing moral progress to continue. This process never stopped. Over time, Western civilization granted more rights, more freedoms, and more personal agency. Islam, by contrast, operates under a completely different ethical framework. A Muslim’s moral compass is not shaped by philosophical discourse, societal evolution, or the refinement of ideas through time. Instead, it is dictated entirely by the Quran, the Hadith, and the lives of Islam’s pioneers. The problem? These sources were built upon the values of 6th-century Arabian tribalism. And those values (violence, conquest, subjugation of women, suppression of dissent, and the elimination of non-believers) are not just historical artifacts. They are considered eternal truths.Lots to think about in those two articles. And frankly, unless we as a society wake up and face the fact that however inclusive and equitable we want to be, being welcoming and inclusive to a group whose goal is the destruction of our way of life is suicide. It, also, has interesting and positive side effects relative to the performance of employees. When someone has skin in the game, those long hours aren't as long. Quality well made products are reflective of the individual employee. And, acquisitions/ manufacturing ends up cheering on the marketing department and vice versa.
When the company shines, everyone benefits. That's a hell of a motivator.

Yeah, it's bad. I'm hoping it's part of a larger plan, but I dunno. I guess one of three outcomes:
- It's part of a plan we haven't seen the end-state of. It may surprise us all.
- Trump is trying, but there's a lot of unseen pressure on him. He's been through this before. He was shot at. I think he takes this seriously. (I hope.) So he's doing what he can, but he can't do everything.
The fact he's even trying this stuff shows us so much. The courts can block every order; illegals can still get better treatment than citizens, no matter who the American people vote for; spending cannot be cut even after DOGE showed that a large chunk of the Federal bureaucracy is just a corrupt self-licking ice cream cone working for the Democrats/communists.
We can't get the GOPe to touch that. So this is Trump's way of illustrating how bad it is, while still fighting on all fronts. Of showing us what needs to be done.
- He's just a sellout. Then we'll know the system cannot be reformed.

Yeah. If you want to see why Communism always fails, just attend American public school. It provides many vivid examples of why Marxism can never work. Perhaps none more vivid than the "group assignment."
I was a smart kid, so they would pair me with dumb kids to "bring up the average." I was supposed to help them. I didn't mind this, per se. I was willing to do part of the teachers' jobs for them. But the other kids wouldn't even try. They wouldn't even help.
I'd complain to the teacher. "Well, you're supposed to be helping them. They look up to you." Bitch, they ain't even trying. I'm willing to pull some of their weight if they at least tried, but they just sit and talk about Linkin' Park.
So, fuck it, I tank the project. My GPA can take the hit, theirs can't. Teacher freaks out. Lol.

This is good advice. Cast a wider net.
You're probably undervaluing your abilities. I don't know much about corporate law, but in my experience lots of talented people undersell themselves because of insecurity. (Ironically, lots of mediocre people oversell themselves because of ignorance.)
I don't know how it is in your world, but I always applied to jobs I wasn't "qualified" for. Like, I didn't have the degree they wanted or number of years experience, but I was confident in my abilities. I felt I could do the job they were offering. So I applied.
A surprising number responded. I don't think I've ever had a job in my career I was on-paper "qualified" for. I learned to ignore the "requirements" and just apply and then sell myself.

Well, first time it happened, was on a sidehill, tank side low. Next time, on level ground. Filter flows OK. Seems the tank outlet is restricted, but nothing visible. Other Dixon mower did the same damned thing (both Kawasaki engines), and replacing the fuel tank was the cure.

We bought a mower that runs on rechargeable batteries. We were skeptical but the mower is awesome.
We have about a third of an acre and we have two batteries.
If you have a very large area to mow it wouldn't be practical but it works for us.

You know, I did that with the other one, I don't know how many times. Seems to me to be a structural problem with the tank fitment. Just not enough gravity head to get the fuel flowing into the carb quickly enough. Maybe exacerbated by ethanol in the fuel? Other mower was cured by using a metal tank raised six inches or so. These are 1980's mowers, so built before ethanol-adulterated fuel was a thing.

I have a riding mower with a 17 hp Briggs and Stratton engine. If I start with a full tank it will begin to sputter after about a half hour of runtime. Stopping, letting it idle, and cracking the fill cap open seems to make it happy for another 15 minutes, then I have to do it again.

This is true. I don't like the idea there is a world outside America. Instead of a world full of kids riding their bikes in the suburbs while Dad grilled out back, it's constant tribal warfare between groups of alien people who only arrived here in the last 30 years.

During Helene, I loaned a neighbor some ethanol-free I had on hand, about 10 gallons, to keep his generator going. They let us borrow their freezer space.
He replaced it, even though I told him not to worry. And it was with ethanol. That stuff was gone in two months. And I got mixed up, and put some in a little tiller. Wouldn't start a lick. I then noticed it, and remembered what happened.
Best way to tell is look at how it evaporates. A film of the stuff on say a metal pan, just won't evaporate right when it's gone. There'll be an off smell as well.

You can by cheap hard metal one's from Amazon
or go to a supply shop and buy (brass?) one's.

I have a motorcycle that was doing that. It would go mile and then stop. Let it sit and then it would go for a bit. The float was messed up and would not let the bowl fill fast enough. While sitting it would slowly trickle in.

I saw a really weird one once. '50 Studebaker Champion. Six cylinder, one-barrel carb. Would flood like a bastard at idle; put it in "Drive", and go a couple hundred yards, and it would starve for fuel and die. Three or four people had the carb apart, me twice, could not find anything wrong. Except the second time, I found the brass fitting for the float needle seat had come unscrewed, and forced the float right down, so the needle was hard against the seat. Enough gas would flow through the threads around the outside of the seat for it to flood at idle, but the engine's demand at cruise was more than could by the threads. Two twists with a screwdriver fixed it.

I was never in the military, and never saw some of that. But I have, actually traveled a lot. Traveled a lot in China (for business). The average Chinese is usually a really nice person, when you can communicate; and a lot of them hate their own government, too. Coming home makes you love this country....a lot. I have been to Europe a lot on business too. A lot of interesting things to see and do there; a lot of European, again, are actually nice people. I have spent a lot of time in France, and a lot of the French are really nice people, but some are real assholes (I worked for one).
But there's no place like home, like this country that is my home.
And grateful to all the service men and women, that have stood guard over this sometimes dumb and ungrateful country.

I have seen straight gas in cans, but still not cheap. Ethanol-adulterated fuel is going to be a reality for some period of time, I'm afraid. Simplest solution is to alter the fuel delivery system to be able to handle it. My two running V8 Studebakers here already have electric fuel pumps back near the tank.

We're now entering the window of earliest sunrise relative to mean time for the continental US. It will technically be the 12th here, and the 16th around Seattle.

And I got to looking at long term data and I'm still pissed. The Erf's tilt has decreases a smidge over the 58 years I've been here since 1967. I've lost 3 seconds of daylight on the solstive since then. Cheated by Milankovich (but, I get it back on the winter side). It's been 11 seconds lost since 1776 here.
This means the Tropic of Cancer is decreasing toward the equator, and the arctic circles are moving toward the poles a bit. I forget how much that translates to in distance.
