THE MORNING RANT: Dramatic Solar Panel Fire Causes Clean and Renewable Evacuation of a Maternity Hospital - Women and Children Hit Hardest

Solar Panel Maternity Fire - 1.JPG

This story actually qualifies for the famous media headline, “Women and children hit hardest.”

A massive fire atop a maternity hospital in Bristol, England was caused by faulty solar panels. Terrified women, some pregnant, some cradling their newborns, were forced to evacuate from the burning building.

Is this the “clean” part of green energy, or is it the “renewable” part? It certainly doesn’t look very “sustainable.”

“Faulty Solar Panel Blamed for Maternity Hospital Fire; Pregnant women and babies were evacuated from St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol on Thursday afternoon” [The Telegraph – 5/23/2025]

Pregnant women and babies were evacuated from St Michael’s Hospital, on Southwell Street in the city centre on Thursday afternoon. Footage shared on social media showed women cradling babies being escorted past fire engines and under police tape to buildings opposite as smoke billowed above.

The roof of the hospital has one of Bristol city centre’s largest solar panel installations, unveiled in 2014 and delivered in partnership with the council. On Thursday, Ian Fergusson , a BBC forecaster, shared a still image from a skycam showing the scorched remains of the hospital’s rooftop solar panels. He said there was “virtually nothing left of the rooftop solar panel array after this fire”, adding: “A very worrying and scary event for folks at the maternity hospital.”

Solar Panel Maternity Fire - 2.JPG

Per a BBC report about the solar-induced hospital fire:

Avon Fire and Rescue Service station manager Ben Thorpe confirmed the cause was "accidental" and "due to a fault in the solar panels". Mr Thorpe said there had been an increase in fires caused by solar panels. "I think the statistics are showing that they are on the increase although of course solar panel installations are on the increase," he explained.

A commenter here at Ace once offered up a statement that summarizes the view of those “green” elites who, in service to their net zero agenda, are willing to deny energy, food, fertilizer, and shelter to the rest of us: ”Some of you will have to die, and that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.” Killing off pregnant women and babies with “green” energy is an effective way of furthering the left’s anti-humanist agenda.

*****

My latest piece has been published at The Blaze, “One town got a nuke plant; the other got a prison … and regret.”

It discusses two southern towns named Hartsville, both of which were chosen to be the sites of nuclear plants 50-plus years ago. One plant was built and the town thrived, the other was not built, and that town went into decline.

Hartsville, Tennessee — with its decaying cooling tower looming over a long-abandoned project — stands as a monument to the dismantling of reliable energy and the destruction of industrial jobs. This is the green, globalist vision for America. By contrast, Hartsville, South Carolina, with its thriving industrial base and a product globalists love to sneer at, represents the America-first alternative championed by the MAGA movement.

It's behind a paywall, but if you have a Blaze subscription, I’d be honored if you’d give it a read.

Pretty much anything which has electricity running through it is a fire risk. It'd be interesting to learn if the fire started in the panels or the associated wiring. Unlikely to be determined at this point but it'd be interesting.

Generally, no. Because hobbyist panels were never meant to carry that kind of juice. When you start getting up into panel sizes that imitate electrical switching yards, I don't think they are built sturdy enough. They are all built to one standard, but then they are connected to each other in crazy amounts.

We know it there. But the industrial software the commercial panels utilize at scale cannot be "unhacked" to remove this malware. Malware that permits the Chinese to shut off or otherwise render the panels useless.

The same industrial software that runs many power plants, traffic systems, water treatment facilities, etc. is also infected with this malware. And for whatever reasons, it can't be removed without rendering the software unusable.

When I reminded them that the facility was structured to be a plain and simple warehouse and was not structurally designed to bear the load of all of those glass panels and converters, they got pissy with me and I was ejected from the team.

Solar, and possibly wind, can have value for small, fairly constant demands. You can power a house with either - assuming sufficient sunshine and/or wind coupled with enough battery capacity to get you through downtime.

Industrial demand, however, isn't going to be met with either source unless you significantly reduce the amount of demand that industry needs... but that would require killing off a significant portion of the human population.

Not really. Either way you'd cut the connection to the grid so new power, not coming from the array, could not enter it and then it pretty much just a standard "flammable shit" fire. If the array is still producing electricity it could be a concern to people using water to try and extinguish it but that's the case regardless of where the fire started.

97 I worked with some of this so-called "industrial systems software" before. We were trying to get it to automate a building's HVAC system. Spent some big monies on baffles for vents, valves, switches, etc. that were supposed to open, close, turn on/off various fans and things on a schedule and/or as conditions warranted.

Buggy as hell. And the components we had, for the most part, were made in China and debugging the software with the American company that sold the stuff to us, was useless. We'd try to fix something only to render the entire sub-system non-op. By design.

Eventually we gave up and pulled it all out. Took a lot of heat for it but it just wasn't going to work the way the building tenants wanted.

152 Trump has issued some pretty good EO's on getting more power plants, especially nuclear.

But, he's gotta stop with that single-front attack:

He needs to run a pincer with the agency heads also firing out new rules and regs--force the left to fight their inevitable lawsuits on multiple fronts.

Then, open up a third by issuing memos (not an EO, something like "Response to Agency Request for Executive Action") waiving all red tape blocking the new rules and regs.

Then, revoke the EO, move to dismiss that lawsuit, then issue a new EO on the new rules and regs.

Then move to dismiss the rule and reg lawsuit because it's moot due to the new EO.

Just basically spinning the left around in an endless cycle of issue and revoke--while constantly advancing to the objective.

Tolkien denied any of his stuff was allegorical, but I find it hard to believe they were not essentially the ghosts of kings past, who are suffering the consequence of their sins. Sometimes the sins were mainly that of hubris and selfish accumulation of wealth and power.

So they serve the source of evil. They can't repent, they can't turn on their master. They can only be saved (killed) by the act of one who is not a man.

I don't think Tolkien was suggesting his woman warrior was a god, but that she was an instrument of God. Not unlike, for example, Joan of Arc.

Both, obviously. When you are diving in slomo, firing at an array of bad guys, it's best to have the 9mm in your non-dominant hand.

That way you're sure to get all the bad guys, except the main one. Who sneaks up behind you when you're out of ammo.
