Polls, Schmolls: Trump Rises on Huge Boost in Consumer Confidence and National Mood

According to Morning Consult's poll, there has been a 9-point swing in voters' approval of Trump's trade policy in just two weeks.

Trade sentiment improves: For the first time since March, more voters approve than disapprove of Trump's handling of trade policy (47% to 45%). Voters remain closely divided over whether they approve of Trump's handling of the economy or trust Republicans over Democrats to deal with the matter.
This increase is not a fluke. We know that because of optimism about the economy. Consumer confidence had been dropping over the past couple of months, again due to uncertainty about Trump's trade policies. In May it skyrocketed, far outstripping expectations.

The Experts (TM) guessed that consumer confidence would come in at 87.5 for May, but instead it hit 98 -- the biggest one-month gain in four years.

For the first time in Rasmussen's polling history -- but remember, they've only been around for 15 years -- a majority of Americans now say the US is on "the right track."

That's big.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Trump has never done a live Oval Office speech about his trade or economic policy. In fact, I can't remember him ever doing an Oval Office address to voters.

He's a very strong communicator. He really needs to start using one of his most potent weapons to quietly, calmly, and rigorously make his case on tariffs to the public. If he's already about about parity on the question, an Oval Office address would put him well over a majority.

Duane Patterson rounds up some additional findings about Democrats losing the country as they become The Antifa and Groomer Party.

All told, Trump has improved every election in 1,433 of the nation's 3,100+ counties — even as he lost in 2020.

Democrats have expanded their vote share continuously in only 57 counties.

Quick note on the counties shifting: You may remember some misreporting on election night that no counties shifted to the Democrats. That wasn't accurate. The stat was something like "zero counties shifted more than 1.5% (or some arbitrary amount) to the Democrats."

5) Nevada is arguably on the cusp of losing its swing state status, but few people seem to realize this yet.

Congress already pussied out on some of the major things they could do with the BBB, including selling out to the Blue State Republicans and the SALT a-holes (which btw it looks like the senate is going to cut, can’t wait for reconciliation on that one). Anyway the WH dropped the ball on rescission, because they need to initiate it. A lot of people don’t understand what Musk is talking about or how that process works. Trump needs to clean it up.

Also the media landscape has changed and the ones he needs to persuade are not going to watch a speech like people did in the 80s. They've been talking about it since the campaign. Rescission is only for discretionary spending, that's what DOGE was going after. Permanent spending has to be done through the normal process.

Rescission has to start with the White House and the important thing is that the only require a simple majority in the Senate so much better chance of getting things passed since Democrats won't vote for them.

I've thought for a few months that Trump should do a Ross Perot type infomercial presentation from the Oval Office to explain what the past several decades of free trade have done to our economy, why it isn't really "free" trade, and how he plans to use tariffs and other tools to reverse this.

He could also give a pep talk about the Big Beautiful Bill and speak about reducing the national debt by cutting all the waste & fraud, cutting useless programs, while also being able to keep his 2017 tax cuts and add new ones.

Since Trump has rarely done a formal Oval Office speech (he did have one in January of 2019 about the Border Wall), it should garner some interest.

153 This administration has a variety of avenues to get their message out. They use them in a haphazard way. I've seen commercials, on network and streaming channels from Noem about sending illegals packing. I've seen Trump's missives in Truth Social (a lost cause IMO) mirrored on 𝕏.

Yet they do have the ability, resources and wherewithal to flood the airwaves.

They want to shutter NPR. Turn it into Trump radio.

Why? I'm certain the networks and most cable won't run anything positive, but there are a plethora of other avenues at their disposal to leverage.

Democrats are really good at messaging, even if it's mostly horseshit.

You're not wrong. NoVa is wildly blue. It's just that Richmond is, too, but it wasn't always NoVa level blue...and Richmond's become more blue while NoVa hasn't trended further (b/c it was already so blue - I mean, how do you get more blue than 90-10 in Arlington?)...

NOVA stays blue because they keep importing govt 'worker' fucks, and illegals. The brain-dead libs with something to lose move to Richmond, which isn't as fucked as is NOVA simply because of the ratio, but still vote the same way.
