17 Good morning, good people, from the chilly Adirondacks.
It's been a week of actual hot alternating with a week of wet, chilly VERY uncomfortable weather for the last month and a half. I'm told this is expected with the current Jet Stream patterns. At least Memorial Day looks promising, but this stuff makes the bittersweet ritual of planting commemorative flags even sadder.

I would suggest to each that at some quiet time during the weekend that you offer a prayer for those who no longer walk among us because they so loved this magnificent country that they gave the last measure.

We owe them a debt that can never be repaid, only honored for eternity.

I can say I've been very fortunate in my life. All my uncles and uncles-in-law survived WWII. Besides my Dad being career Navy and getting out in '62 after the Cuban Missile Crisis, nobody I knew went to Vietnam or anything after.

I can only thank those who allow me to be. From Jamestown to Valley Forge to Gettysburg to Belleau Wood to D-Day to Inchon to Khe San to Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, I don't run this country. I know what I would have done already a long time ago without a heads-up.

There was also one at 3AM. What woke us up was the thunder of an Arrow intercept missile launched from outside of Jerusalem.

But frankly, a mosquito infiltrating your room at 3AM is much more aggravating. Obligatory:

I once had a refund for like $3 from my 2007 IRS filing. I framed the check. Every year, like clockwork, I would receive in the mail a new check and a letter admonishing me to cash it. Of course I didn't. Finally, around 2022 I got a nasty letter from the IRS saying they weren't going to send me any new checks and if I wanted my $3 I had him to call them. I framed the letter.

It's hard for me to remember- 12 years, I think. We got him when he was a kitten. He's best buddies with my son who gets down on his level frequently and P. bumps heads with him as cats do as a sign of affection. He was named by our son after the writer Thomas Pynchon. It's not that he's not affectionate with me. He will sit on the couch arm by me and sleep when I'm reading. He just seems to adore our son. It was chilly here yesterday so Pynchon was also sleeping on FenSpouse's lap which he usually only does in the cooler weather

62 The deal with the state tax is that I chose the wrong column from the tax table. I should have chosen Column 2, that being the no. of exemptions I'd claimed. But I chose 1, since I usually do (for filing single) on the Fed return. Well, had I done 2, I'd have owed a big $1 -- which I think means I wouldn't have to pay anything. But I chose the next column, which produced $19. $18 off.

The state was honest, or wanted to keep its books straight to avoid hassle from auditors (?). I'll deposit the check this morning.

The rules of engagement seem to be if party a looks wrong at party b all hell breaks loose. So far this year this has resulted in three dead youths and 16 more youths with life-changing injuries.

So far the Communists that run the state of New Mexico have decided the proper way to handle this is to spend government dollars on youth outreach programs and and to amp up their agitation to ban all firearms in the state.

Meanwhile, all the border wall material that's been sitting out in the desert since Biden got elected is still there.

85 Contrary to my hopes and dreams, the new military exclusion zone that runs along the border wall is not full of troops in foxholes backed up with tanks. This is another topic I would like to speak to the manager about.

86 79 And already the scum on internet platforms have their Narrative:

1. Israel started it.
2. Genocide is worse than just these two murders.
3. It was Mossad, trying to make palestinians look bad.
Posted by: Soothsayer at May 22, 2025 06:30 AM (ZjLzN)

It’s going about the same with the South Africa farm murders story.

1. White colonizers started it,
2. Genocide is more than several thousand attacks and murders.
3. It is white racists trying to make blacks look bad.

You wouldn’t be wrong if you started noticing certain patterns occurring when discussing certain groups who are favored versus unfavored by the international left.

If I were you I would demand that an espresso bar and an aroma therapy room be installed on the premises. Plus organizing and having a Free Palestine protest and riot.

If the Mexican cartels keep losing business due to Trump’s actions on the border I wouldn’t be surprised if we see that in some areas down there, eventually.

They are losing lots of money, fighting between each other for territories and smuggling routes, and trying to find new drugs and suppliers.

Not to mention the money lost by coyotes who are also smugglers.

The Mexican government has proven itself both incompetent and corrupt for decades, so there’s no real hindrance there, either.

They are definitely further along than most people know, or will admit.

If the land reform bill starts going the way they want, and they start appropriating the farms without compensation, things will get a whole lot worse.

They’ll, be a larger, much more bloody, version of Zimbabwe under Mugabe in a decade if they keep going down this path.

So far, The arrests that have taken place in the military exclusion Zone have been a big bust. Typically arrests come with a potential 6-month sentence while the sentence is 18 months for violating the military exclusion Zone. The Federal Hawaiian judges in Las Cruces have decided this is a terrible thing and are using the excuse that there's not enough signs warning the illegals that came over the wall about this. Solution: they're all kicked loose so they can go join gangs in Denver.

98 Terrorists don't deserve negotiation, they require elimination in the most effective manner possible. The .62 cent solution is the most effective preventative answer.

103 47 Google has now pushed AI results into Canada as well as the USA. (Just ran a search, and the "AI Overview" was at the top of the results.)

There is some good news though:

Adding &udm=14 to the URL line seems to work to remove the AI search result, as well as the other garbage results Google has been giving.

113 I’m thinking OpenAI has bought io, Ives’ company, in order to make smart glasses.

Altman says they are “making the coolest piece of technology the world has ever seen.”

That leaves out a new smartphone or another Humane AI pin.

Unless it’s some kind of AI-Only desktop device, or a projected holographic AI interface, I’ve got to go with smart glasses as those seem to be the new hotness in Silicon Valley these days.
