The first stage of the disgusting practice of making pickled herring.
Posted by: Chairman LMAO at May 20, 2025 09:46 AM (36PRH) 102
The paintings he created after 1882 focus almost exclusively on humankind’s age-old contest with nature. Here Homer depicted the heroic efforts of fishermen at their daily work, hauling in an abundant catch of herring. In a small dory, two figures loom large against the mist on the horizon, through which the sails of the mother schooners are dimly visible. While one fisherman hauls in the netted and glistening herring, the other unloads the catch.

The thing about a shark, it's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When it comes at you it doesn't seem to be livin'... until he bites you, and those black eyes roll over white.

So, the GOPs offer to deal with SALT is to raise the deduction cap from 10k to 40k and raise the income threshold from 100k to 750k, guaranteeing every wall street fat cat with a Hamptons abode will be able to get taxpayer money and also allowing blue states to blunt the impact of their high property taxes.

One of the things I enjoyed about Mother's Day brunch at my club was all the little ones dressed as proper little Brooks Brothers and Sisters. It was adorable.
Posted by: RedMindBlueState We went out to lunch on Saturday after our endless stint at the DMV, and I was pleased to see a little girl in an adjacent booth with a long blue ribbon in her hair, as used to be the fashion. Don't remember if she had a dress on or not, but the ribbon was charming. Posted by: Bulg at May 20, 2025 10:49 AM (77rzZ) 289

I had to take my friend's kids to an event over the weekend - all Chinese and Whites - and everyone was so conservatively dressed and well turned out it was an absolute sight. And yet my friend who lives and mingles in these circles has become a de facto dumb lib. Yet I notice he doesn't choose to live like or around libs. Easy to have "compassion" when you are insulated from all the animals you store up all this compassion for.

And being a lib isn't compassion. They may think it is but it's not. It's just weaponized stupidity.

On the 30th day of Trump’s term, Monique Lockett, 53, tried to block out the stress. Very late to the thread, dammit!
This is one of my favorite Homer pieces. The way he captures the moist, foggy day, the gentle rolling seas (no wind), and the many shades of blues, grays, and greens that make up the ocean is wonderful. I also like the way the scene centers on the man and boy in their small boat. It's a calm, distinct image against the distant ghostly sailing ships in the fog. >7KBZK, More seasonal workers approved for National Park Service—but layoff concerns linger in Yellowstone, Posted Feb 25, 2025 In part, "Also affected is Richard Midgette, a former IT worker at Yellowstone who was laid off less than two months into his job. With a shaky voice he detailed what getting that notice was like: “And so I had to go on on that Friday, on Valentine's Day with that expectation I'd be fired and I would I'd lose my health insurance, I'd lose my income. And, "Asked if getting a private sector job isn’t exactly what those advocating the federal layoffs want people to do, Midgette said, “It’s missing the point because a lot of people that hold these jobs aren't doing it to have money, and you can make more money in the private sector, especially in technology—are you kidding me?” Another joker who likely planned for a untouchable union represented job - with outstanding benefits & pay - that would last forever. >Federal news indicates that nearly 117,000 federal employees and retirees have achieved TSP (Thrift Savings Plan) millionaires status, a significant increase from previous years.
