I read an article by some foodie-hipsters talking about how you can eat every part of the pig "except the pink", and their adventures sourcing, slaughtering, butchering and consuming a heirloom pig from a local farm.

An old black coworker who grew up in the deep south took me to a local rib and BBQ place a few years ago. On the menu list for "sandwiches", at the bottom, was "snout". He said it was good and I should try it. Same neighborhood's KFC had chicken gizzards every Tuesday.

Never saw that shit in my neighborhood growing up lol.

We went out to lunch on Saturday after our endless stint at the DMV, and I was pleased to see a little girl in an adjacent booth with a long blue ribbon in her hair, as used to be the fashion. Don't remember if she had a dress on or not, but the ribbon was charming.

This is one of my favorite Homer pieces. The way he captures the moist, foggy day, the gentle rolling seas (no wind), and the many shades of blues, grays, and greens that make up the ocean is wonderful. I also like the way the scene centers on the man and boy in their small boat. It's a calm, distinct image against the distant ghostly sailing ships in the fog.
