I am glad you found something- in your case, if you really had strong feelings on a dress, you can find a dress maker who may be able to help you get as close as possible to what you want, especially if you get to them with a very long lead time and not in the middle of wedding mania!

Telling her "Hell No!" was useless. She'd pull up/pull down whatever piece of clothing was in the way to show us. The kids would always scream from the back of the car - "NO MIMI, NOOOOOO!!!"

Had a busy Saturday starting with a 6.5 mile, 1050' elevation gain hike starting at the Cattle Camp in Bommer Canyon on Open Access day. After I got home wife and I drove up to a market in El Monte and over to Whittier to visit with her cousin. Finally got back home around 9 PM to catch last half of Ghost of Frankenstein on Svengoolie.
Slept real good last night. Today was just get laundry done and clean house in preparation for cleaning lady tomorrow.

I goofed earlier today, when I said Dad had been "in remission for 10 years"--- he was dx'd in 2007 and began treatment. Was clear after (iirc) 3 years of that. (no surgery, but he never elaborated on *which* treatment)
He was supposed to get bone scans annually, but didn't do it every year. In 2017, he began having back pain/leg weakness and thought maybe he'd tweaked his back and needed chiropractor... um, no.
He had a tumor inside L3/L4 vertebrae, which they zapped with radiation. He had other spots near hip and one elbow, which were treated via chemo and hormone therapies.
Was about 20 months from detection of bone mets, to his death.

But the slickest thing, to me was the installation of an extra parking brake. Set up one for the left wheel and one for the right. Therefore, unless it was really bad there was always a drive wheel. The brake lock was neutralized. Oh, he used used a WWII gunpowder can for the gas tank. It was mounted up between the cab and the bench. No clearance problem.

In the 60s, Jazz musicians were dying at a mass rate, most from heroin. 60-70s, a bunch died of various substances (Morrison, Joplin, Hendrix, etc). Seems to go through cycles. 1959 Chevy 4 door sedan. The frame was cut at the back seat. That part, from the back seat to the beginning of the trunk, was eliminated, the skin of the trunk area was stripped off and the frame brought up to the back seat. Some kind of floor for the back. The tank was behind the back seat then benches above the rear wheels. That area had a bit of an angle iron cage to help keep people from falling off.

I learned recently, the BeeGees were approached about providing music for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. They sent them demos of several songs they'd written for their next album, and were asked to "disco them up."
So they did. One of their songs, "If I Can't Have You" was recorded by Yvonne Elliman instead of the group, and is unquestionably the best song on the whole album. Maybe the best song of the disco era.

Can't help myself. There are 42oz and 1/2 gallon jugs full of water stached all over the house. That gallon a day is survival level.
Want to wash your hands? We use water all day long for stuff. Rinse a glass? No. Those little jugs are handy for misc duties.
I like to brush my teeth. I also have 5 gallon jugs and an outdoor potty chair.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 in 2017 at age 55 and had Brachytherapy to treat it. They implanted 77 radioactive seeds in it. PSA dropped for the first 2 years then started climbing again. Had another biopsy done in 2020, still had some active cancer cells. They can't implant seeds a 2nd time and can't remove it, so I had cryotherapy done to kill the rest of it.

I have been fruitlessly searching for an on-line image of the thing. I first learned of it by reading an early 1950's issue of Mechanix Illustrated. They did a major article on it. Still have the magazine, but to find it? Sheesh! So I was at a Studebaker event in Oregon, and one of the local chapter members took us on a tour down towards Salem, and we viewed a large yard full of derelict Studebakers. And there was the Centipede! All in pieces, but all the pieces were there. Still had "El-Wag Centipede" hand lettered on the driver's door, just like in the magazine article.

The only "suit" I own is a tux. I have sport coats and slacks for lesser occasions.

I was referring to your area. I think the LC valley runs around 700ft + at the river up to about 1100 ft up in the valley. I'm at 3500ft. I've had frosts in mid June. We are comparable to Anchorage for gardening.

I have to admit, that's a new 'treatment'. I'll definitely have to try that.
Great Toe story (that's the official name of the big toe): I was taking a shower and slipped, banging my right great toe into the flat end of the tub. Hurt like hell. Limped around with the ex saying I really didn't hurt myself, just looking for sympathy. One day when I took a step and saw stars, I called a foot doctor. After x-rays, found out I chipped the bone under the toe, with that bone floating in and out of a nerve. Had to have it removed in an in-office surgery using a local anesthetic. Shut her up for a little bit. She was one of those who somehow believed you're only hurt if you go to the hospital and somebody with medical knowledge is there to tell you you hurt yourself. Then you're officially 'hurt'.

I blame it on my Y chromosome. Mrs. Sock says yea but your particular one is special. Cut my middle finger to the bone one weekend. Wrapped it with guaze and duck tape. It was still bleeding a bit Monday morning. One of my employees was also an EMT. He took me ( underground threat) to the ER. ER nurse looked at it and said it's too swollen to stitch and it needs to be cleaned. Hurt like hell. My employee smiled. Later, I got the same reaction from my mom. Did it hurt? Good. She wss an ER nurse for 30 years and taught trauma nursing for 10. Most of my injuries growing up, dhe would look at them snd tell me to go rub some dirt on it. There were a hslf dozen trips to the ER. I loved the pop sickles.

Your Mom sounds a bit like mine. She had been in nurse's training early in the war but contracted TB, ending that career.
Once I had a little kid at a picnic throw a dart that stuck in my orbital cheekbone when I was about 10. Mom took one look, pulled the dart out and said, 'take him to the Dispensary to get a tetanus shot'. Like, no big deal your child almost lost an eye or anything.
Another time, in high school, I tore the right nail on the great toe (told you I hurt that right foot a lot!) when I opened a wooden door barefoot requiring it, after a freezing spray at the Dispensary, to be pulled off; I was out of school about a week for that one as I could not lower my foot without incredible painful throbbing. I slept in a Lazy Boy to keep my foot up. I got a little sympathy for that one as I really didn't do anything that stupid, just opened the door to let the dog out.
Mom didn't care if there was blood. Obvious broken bones, yes. But mercurochrome merthiolate and a band aid fixes anything, scrapes, cuts, the plague.
