Shitty court day today.
1. Supreme Court TdA 7-2 ruling. The only out ito quickly deport these fuckers is to use some other "lawful means". 2 Karen Read trial. Incredibly biased Judge Bev is allowing changed, new, Commonwealth expert reports sent to the defense May 8 but received by them May 11th, three weeks into the actual trial. The changes shift the CW bullshit timeline midstream, changing their theory of the case. The defense has already cross examined witnesses, calling into question CW claims. Judge Bev allows the CW to modify whatever it wants, but locked the defense's experts (ARCCA) to their original testimony from the first trial. In spite of this, KR will be acquitted, or the jury will be hung. There were at least three jurors openly derisive towards the prosecution. One reporter described one jurir as having "resting smirk face". LOL Posted by: Deplorable Ian Galt at May 16, 2025 10:29 PM (ufFY8) 54

I started watching True Detective which stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey and the thing that strikes me out of the two of them is Woody has managed to this day to strike something of an iconic image - I saw him following up on his comments about the clot shot by pointing out that oh hey looks like he might have been right...huh? Vs McConaughey who decided to trash his reputation by trying to become some sort of moderate Democrat in an era where that no longer exists...

I agree that "86" means throw the bum out.
However, many Lefties are using it in posts, and in context it is clearly meant as a call to assassinate Trump. If someone says that Trump should be "ventilated", do you think that means they want to attach some duct work and a fan to Trump? OTOH, what Comey did is inflammatory, but not illegal. I would prefer calling off the legal beagles, and just mock him for being stupid and saying he had no idea what 86 means. Posted by: Pillage Idiot at May 17, 2025 12:31 AM (HlyYF) 279

However, many Lefties are using it in posts, and in context it is clearly meant as a call to assassinate Trump.
The only ways for third parties to "throw the bum out" are assassination or impeachment. Impeachment takes half the house and 2/3 of the Senate. Anyone think that's in the cards right now? Bueller? So, it's a call for assassination. OTOH, what Comey did is inflammatory, but not illegal. Most US schools have a track circling the football field. Mine had a 3 foot high chain link fence separating the two. I was doing coach-required laps while the field guys were training on the grass. I'm running around the north end zone when I hear a shout- "Heads up!"

Posted by: nurse ratched at May 17, 2025 12:38 AM (mT+6a) But it could be taken to mean that by some retarded Leftoid. mikeski,
I don't think Comey's post rises to the level of a true threat. Trump's quote on Jan. 6th, "We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore." is likewise clearly not a true threat or incitement. I don't want to give an increasingly unhinged Left ammo to criminalize 1st Amendment protected speech for when they eventually get back into power. Doesn't seem there are any outside factors that would force them off this formula.

Well, I talked myself out of a parts sale today. Guy needed some automatic transmission parts for a '57 Golden Hawk. I had several of those Flightomatic transmissions on hand, so he came by for a look-see. We opened one up, and the front pump was different, also the valve body. I said, "I know who to call", and put in a call to a buddy in Edmonton. He had a short-tail Flightomatic sitting in his yard for 50 bucks, so I sent the guy up to him.
Better he gets the right parts, than try to make do with wrong ones. I spent the rest of the afternoon tearing the long-tail transmission down to save some hard parts, as some parts were too far gone to make rebuilding it an option. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at May 17, 2025 01:10 AM (sCUBT) 328

Speaking of the weather, it was a bit oppressive this afternoon. The weather chicken entrail readers said this would likely be the hottest day of the year so far. For me, it topped out at 86.4F. The hottest day turned out to be April 5th, at 86.7F. Some neighbors were about the same, April 5th being the hottest. The dew point however, hit 76F, and that made it muggy, with the "real feel" of 95F, which was indeed the highest of the year to date. And, being the whimpy thing I am, I've had the A/C on for a while now. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at May 17, 2025 01:52 AM (w6EFb) 354

Looking at my weather station data sort of makes me sad now. I've just got a year's worth of data. My late cousin (who dropped dead Dec 13, due to sudden cardiac "event" -- but I'm sure what the real likely cause was), was going to run something once I had a year's worth of data. It was some sort of spot local forecast thing, I forget exactly, but he was looking forward to doing it for us right here locally. IIRC, it had to do with modifying the "wide forecast" based on all the forecast data, to the local station. It would allow one to predict daily highs and lows relative to the larger forecast. He had developed that particular method, and was interested in seeing how well it performed here. Only thing the station doesn't have is cloud cover data, but he was going to calculate that based on the solar radiation data. BIL left this morning, after I fixed a few issues for him/his trailer. Maybe not in the *correct* ways, but just got things sealed & reattached well enough to last a little while.
He can't afford to fix all the problems, but we "put out the fires" and got him back on the road, to seek other arrangements. ![]() Lucky me! Hubby said BIL was angling to camp out at our place (indefinitely) for some expense-free living, like he's done to hubby/XW in the past. And I got one of my air compressors back online today. Cheap Chicom belt stretched and slipped and had to get a new one. I got a bit wistful about that. Daddy would've been proud of me. He bought that compressor in the mid-70s. I was just a little kid. Now, it's basically just the pressure tank original, I replaced the motor and the pump itself back in the mid-2000s. The new pump and motor are probably a little less than 20 years old. The old pump lasted about 30 years. Second compressor, which I run together, is the same model, probably around the laste '70s. A neighbor, long since departed gave it to me back in the late '90s. And I've kept them both running all this time. Daddy taught me well. Posted by: polynikes at May 17, 2025 02:06 AM (VofaG) I felt a 7.2 back in 2010...Oh, you mean the list... I've had... #1 (long time ago...everybody's life intersects so many other lives, and each of those have complicated relations with others) #2: Looking into my wife's eyes while we were dating...in a good way. I could see how much she loved me in those eyes...hard to exactly explain, but I feel it in my memory more than 27 years later. (Friday would have been her 57th birthday) #3: yup #4: no. As I told someone, If I could go in the past, I'd eff it up in entirely new ways, and a few old ones. #6 maybe: I can hear my heartbeat sometimes and sometimes feel it as well. I've gotten used to it, including feeling when I get long-beats--feels like a missed beat...which used to be unsettling, but hey, you get used to things. #7: yeah, had that. COVID was good for that feeling #8: sometimes you just want to be left alone. #9: a few times. I lose those arguments in the end... #13: In the past, yes, but now, I don't think I want to know how it turns out. #23: occasionally. Other's perspectives are formed by their intellect, environment, and situations. Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at May 17, 2025 02:25 AM (ynpvh) 371

Hubby was the "successful" sibling (parents gone now) and too kindhearted for his own good. His "lil bro" was always a bit of a sponge until marrying 30 years ago. Unfortunately, his wife died last year & he's back to his *Poor Helpless Me* ways. I hardly know the dude. Only met him on a couple of occasions over the last 20-odd years and had no idea how dependent he was on any/every one else. Well, I'm not easy to steamroll. Been screwed over too many times & I know a sob-story when I hear it. But BIL *is* family after all, so I helped him as best I could. Turned some wrenches. Washed his clothes & let him shower here. Gave him food & supplies and a very small amount of cash. And a hug. Posted by: JQ at May 17, 2025 02:28 AM (rdVOm) 373

Every situation is different... the key is to be able to feel good about yourself, without destroying yourself. I've sadly learned that dysfunction can be contagious... it you are not careful, dysfunctional people you let into your life, can destroy your life. The key is IF they are dysfunctional, to acknowledge it... to allow for it... and thus, protect yourself. Posted by: Romeo13 at May 17, 2025 03:00 AM (mP0Kj) 379

Jim in Kali--
My problem is nerve damage. It's not just the overall loss of hearing, it's also that sounds are garbled. Background noises like fans, vehicles passing by, aircraft, etc... just drown out speech. It truly sucks. If water is running at the kitchen sink, I can't hear the phone or doorbell ring. Some mornings, I cannot hear my alarm clock beeping (less than 2 feet away and set to loudest). I should switch it to radio, I guess? And many people-- mainly the younger ones-- do not enunciate well. Makes it that much worse. Ugh. My cheapo hearing aids amplify *everything*, so only help in quieter surroundings. I will need to spend 1000s for better units, that have adjustable frequency enhancement capability. Anybody who has spent any time sitting on a barstool knows what "86" means. It means thrown out and banned from ever returning
The DNC talking points say that word for word, so you might consult a thesaurus. The bar version is a softening of the original mob coinage. And Comey worked directly on at least one mob case where it meaning “murder” was very explicit. Plus it’s not like we haven’t seen shrill death threats from lefties constantly for the last 18 months. I have a bit of a notch in my hearing, but not enough to need hearing aids (like a 10 to 20 db drop at some frequency space), along with loss of frequencies above about 12Khz or 14Khz. My younger one, on the other hand, was hearing frequencies and volume levels at the threshold of what people are capable of, said the hearing doc...at least for now.
