It is an M-60, probably the E, affectionately known as "The Pig". It is well-rendered.

I was fixing a push mower this afternoon. I tried to start about a month ago, and it just poured gasoline in the intake. Figured the float needle valve wasn't sealing.

So today, I pulled the carb and checked it out. Couldn't see anything wrong, but I cleaned it up. Put it back together, and after adjusting the main jet screw, it ran like a top.

Then I got to thinking. Daddy bought that thing new when I still in high school, early 80's, no later than '85. It's a 22" Murray with a 4HP Tecumseh. I put a new carb on it back in the late '90s. I'm proud of myself for keeping stuff running a hell of a long time.

This reminds me of one of my favorite jokes:

A preacher buys an old push mower from a neighbor. The neighbor's son rides by on his bike and sees the preacher pulling the cord over and over while struggling to start it. He stops to give advice.

"You've got to cuss at it to get it going!" the boy offers helpfully.

"Young man, I'll have you know I turned away from that path years ago. I doubt I even remember those words." The preacher replied.

The boy smiles and begins pedaling away, yelling, "You just keep pulling on that cord, they'll come back to you!"

106 The scene I remember every Memorial Day was from a few years ago, we were on a road trip driving through the midwest, probably Kansas. It was morning and sunny, and I drove through a small town just like a thousand other small midwestern towns. There was a small cemetery on the outskirts, as all such towns have, and as I went by I noticed a single truck pulled in, and an older gentleman sitting quietly by himself in a lawn chair under a tree, next to one of the graves.
Don’t know anything about him or who he was visiting, don’t need to know. That scene, to me, is what Memorial Day is all about.

I was just looking at push mowers at Lowe's and Home Depot web site. It's hard to find a simple side-discharge push mower, no frills, just the basics. They're all self-propelled with all sorts of silly plastic bagger attachments. Kind of stuff that doesn't last very long. And probably no telling what kind of aggravating "safety features" that are annoying.

They can't make anything right any more. And some of those battery powered, Li-ion things make me shake my head. What a load of garbage.

Some 'light' tank, it only weights 42.5 tons. A German Panther from WWII weighed 45 tons in comparison.

But unlike a Panther being able to shrug off 75mm rounds from M-4 Shermans, a Booker can only withstand a 14.5mm round to the hull.

Safety features is just the handlebar you have to hold down. A zip tie cut to the right length can provide a loop that slips on and off to bypass that.

Yeah, those mulching and high lift blades wear out quickly. You can find some regular blades sometimes for some models. I was able to find some for an old Murray riding mower. In 2019, I broke down at bought a new Husqvarna riding mower. It has some high lift blades, but I can't find any regular ones for that.

The high lift don't like dirt and grit too much -- wears them out quickly.

A friend of mine has a Craftsman electric mower. Great mower BUT the thing has three safeties. One is the standard dead-man's bar. You push a button before pulling it back.

And none of it will work without the special interlock key *that has electronics in it*. You can't just use a jumper or go in and straight-wire the connection. You have to have that specific key in the slot if you want to use your mower.

Utter stupidity.

That visit, U.S. prosecutors allege, marked the beginning of a yearslong effort by Chinese intelligence to extract sensitive information from inside one of the most important economic institutions in the United States.

In January of this year, Rogers was arrested by the FBI on federal charges of economic espionage, the Wall Street Journal reports.

173 169 Yes. And flakpanzer is such a cool description.

It's a shame they wasted Sgt. Alvin York's name on the DIVAD.

Germans had cool names for things. Ostwind. Panzerfaust.

Heh. Just like you always find lost things in the last place you look.

That's SOP from the Donald. Announce an extreme negotiating position, panic the opposition, and then stroke them with a delay. Ultimately settle on something less, which was his real goal all along.

184 >> Sounds a lot like mine, except mine is about 10 years newer.

This one is in really good shape, nothing really worn. It was used basically for trimming duty around the trees and close to the house, so it doesn't have that much operating hours on it, just age.

That Murray riding mower we got, I think around '94, was indeed flat worn out by 2019, when I replaced it. Steering linkage (cheap for these little dinky things) was flat worn out from use, and everything was getting sort of rickety. I broke down at got the new one when the hydrostatic drive tension idler pulley flew apart. Just flat out flew apart, plastic piece.
