Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump Lands in Saudi Arabia, Announces $600 Billion in New Investments in AmericaHappy Tuesday! Trump and some of his advisors and cabinet heads landed in Saudi Arabia late last night. This morning, he announced a pledge from the Saudis to invest $600 billion in the American economy.Trump is looking to secure $2 trillion in investments or trade deals in the Gulf countries. Trump is expected to secure up to $2 trillion in Gulf investments tied to AI, energy, weapons, and semiconductors. The tour comes as U.S. allies grow increasingly frustrated with Biden's Middle East posture and Iran gains influence. No visit to Israel is planned, and Palestinian statehood remains a roadblock to broader normalization deals. Diving Deeper: President Donald Trump landed in Riyadh on Tuesday, kicking off a three-day tour through the Persian Gulf with the stated goal of deepening economic and defense partnerships with three of America's wealthiest and most strategic allies: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the trip "a cornerstone" of Trump's broader Middle East doctrine: defeating extremism not through endless wars, but through commerce, cultural engagement, and military cooperation.

I'm skeptical this can be done. Maybe it can be. I think the chances of success go way up if the "Palestinian problem" is taken care of once and for all. Sadly I'm not sure how that can be done absent complete annihilation to the very last man, woman, and child. Palestinians are like smelly diseased rats puking and bleeding on everything. You can have the finest, most luxurious dinner planned, but it will be ruined if smelly diseased rats crawl all over the table, puking and bleeding. That's the Palestinians in a nutshell. In the meantime, while this possibly impossible-to-solve problem lingers on, I'm happy to take Saudi money. Posted by: Elric Blade at May 13, 2025 12:19 PM (iFTx/) 27

Newsweek: Donald Trump Salutes Saudi Arabian Generals During Riyadh Visit. There has been a discussion in recent years about the proper etiquette for presidents saluting the military, particularly those from other nations.
A returned salute by Trump to a North Korean general during his first term sparked criticism, with some saying he should not have shown respect to a hostile nation. Hopefully the Saudis can help him with his bone spurs by using bone saws. Give him the authentic Jamal Khashoggi treatment. Trump knows who signs his paychecks. And submits the proper obeisance. All while he's having U.S. Generals fired. How long will this shit go on? He calls our American soldiers "suckers and losers". What a pathetic groveling punk. If you notice, part of the reason that Saudis are flooding the market with oil is that it hurts both Russia and Iran in the pocketbook but helps the US and Western Europe. As both Iran and Saudis have sanctions they only get a fraction of the $63 bucks or so OPEC average. That means a lot less money to fund wars, pay off proxies, and support their regimes by essentially buying off their citizens with welfare. Israel should shrink the size of Gaza to the point that it can accommodate its current population without overcrowding, but leave no room for growth. Turn it into a giant internment camp for enemy aliens, but make it Israeli territory. Make it clear to them that they are free to leave, if they can find a muslim country to take them. Give them a cash "departure bonus" if they leave.

$80 billion in joint investments from companies like Google, Oracle, Salesforce, AMD, and Uber, targeting "cutting-edge transformative technologies in both countries."
—- What does this mean in plain English? It says “from companies like”. Does that mean the companies are investing? If that’s the case where does Saudi Arabia come in? Are the companies investing in Saudi? Targeting transformational tech? lol. That’s marketing jargon every tech company uses. Is Uber going to add extra drivers in Jeddah? This is always the case with broad announcements on investments. It’s a lot of vaporware with no specifics. Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at May 13, 2025 12:31 PM (d4dD2) 106

President Trump knows how to be the strong horse. He's been playing this game on the world stage now for 50 years or so.
It may seem odd, but, this is what impresses people. People sit up and notice when someone can get this kind of deference on a very large stage. Weak kneed sniveling is for 3rd rate countries, not for the number 1 country in the world. Posted by: blake - semi lurker in marginal standing (tT6L1) at May 13, 2025 12:26 PM (tT6L1) It is not odd at all. Certain segments respond only to displays of raw power and the willingness to use it. I had the same conversation with the high school athletic director about developing behavior problems. Some people just have to know that they will get their asses kicked if they get out of line to hold them to higher behavioral standards. It's a principle as old and reliable as dirt. In theory, yes. But in reality, I'm not sure that's possible without a massive realignment of the working class in Israel. The lowest rung of workers in Israel are Palestinians, many who are day laborers entering from Gaza. Israel claims there are about 200k of them. I suspect the number is much higher. Israel is just as addicted to cheap, pliable labor as we are.

104 While this is all great stuff, I'm a little curious as to what the long game is with Israel. Clearly he gave Netanyahu the smackdown, but what is next?
Posted by: Grapefruit LaCroix ====== Netanyahu apparently met with Waltz privately first before meeting Trump during his Washington visit. Both favored immediate attacks on Iran and Trump wanted to try diplomacy first. That, rather than Signal gate was the apparent reason for the lateral Waltz move to UN ambassador. Some scuttlebutt over Waltz's Signal app which apparently had Israeli company addons to the base version. Then there has been recent tension between Trump's desire to settle the Gaza conflict, get aid in, and get American hostages back rather than escalate versus the Israeli government stance on sending more troops in to settle the issue. That could simply be both Israelis and US differing in public facing matters for diplomatic reasons so as to act differently in private or could show a real divergence. I think Bibi though by his actions in US politics over the years has put himself, not Israel particularly, in the position that Trump does not trust him. Totally IMHO based on Israeli and US reports. Israel has no such bombers nor bombs and unless Israeli goes nuke on them, missile payloads lack the ability to do it either. One of the more interesting applications though would be the infamous rods from god strategy put forth by people like Jerry Pournelle. Non nuclear but you could do repeated attacks using these guided tungsten steel rods from orbit that could woodpecker their way into deep bunkers and doing destruction/penetration simply by sheer velocity alone. In one of the most shocking revelations, Biden was reportedly so impaired that he didn’t recognize Clooney at a star-studded June 2024 Democratic fundraiser in Los Angeles, the book says, claiming it left the actor ‘shaken to his core.’ ‘It was obvious to many standing there that the president did not know who George Clooney was,’ the authors write. Another Hollywood VIP guest reportedly said: ‘It was like watching someone who was not alive. It was so awful.’ ‘We got so screwed by Biden as a party,’ Plouffe is quoted as saying. The American South really is ideal for a lot of these foreign corps to set up here. Ridgeville has that Volvo plant now because of Nikki. But I think even if they laid off all of the incentive packages companies would locate down here in the new tariff era. Breaking News: According to DOGE, as soon as Kamala! lost the election, Biden began sending Democrat-aligned NGOs and companies $1.3 billion per day, almost $100 billion before President Trump took office.
In the prior 15 years, the same loan office gave out $40 billion, just $8 million per day. This was theft on a scale the world has never seen before. The $10k salt from 2018 adjusted for inflation is about $15k today. So the GOP is doubling it in effect. Which will almost exclusively benefit democrats. They are truly a shit party that loathes its voters.
Posted by: Its Go Time Donald === I'm mad about SALT also, but I think a lot of Republican voters stuck in blue states were pissed about this cap. People in general though are stupid. Like you tell someone they pay less taxes, even with a SALT cap, and they are still pissed off about losing that deduction. I think what the SALT cap ended up unfortunately doing us making blue state voters head for red states. I dont think a single state cut any of their taxes over it.
