Burgerville, the local burger chain used to do this to "help pay for renewable (windmill) energy.
This in the Northwest where most of the power is hydroelectric and everything is on the same power grid. But, hydroelectric was considered non-renewable by government fiat, and windmills. i think they gave up and just charge everyone extra because of the windmills, whether they are turning or not. Also, Burgerville's fries taste like paper fried in cottonseed oil and even the burgers and shakes aren't terribly exciting Posted by: Kindltot at May 11, 2025 12:09 PM (D7oie) 10

Too bad they don't spend some of their AGW money on maintaining and cleaning their planes. I fly UAL a lot, and they do the bare minimum. Plus, the food sucks! Another classic scam, if you live in a blue area, is that your local electric utility tries to get you to pay a bit extra to get "100% renewable" energy. (My local utility charges about five bucks a month extra to get "100% renewable "energy.)
New flash - this is entirely reverse-engineered. Utilities figured out that some fraction of the population would pay for "100% renewable" energy, but only if it cost five bucks a month or less, so they charge what they can get away with, and then cook the books to claim that you are now being served with "100% renewable" energy. (Hint: the actual cost of being served with 100% renewable energy would be far, far greater than five bucks a month.) They always give you a "100% renewable" sticker that you can put on your front window to virtue signal to your neighbors, of course. Posted by: The ARC of History! at May 11, 2025 12:21 PM (xTIDn) 38

That's an easy one to answer. The year 2030. It is always a year ending in 0 or 5 and at least 5 years in the future. In years 2026-2030 it will be 2035. Wash, rinse, repeat. The scammers cannot put the Greenhouse Doom Begins Year very far in the future because the idiots may not panic sufficiently to sustain the scam's funding from Leftist governments and the UN. The establishment media of course are now constantly churning out sob stories about innocent illegal aliens who have peacefully been living in the United States for decades who are now cruelly being deported for no reason at all. Aside from asking whose social security number they stole to put on job applications, I feel safe in asserting that virtually all of these sob stories are fake. I saw one of these "this innocent has been living in the US for 25 years and is now being cruelly deported" stories, looked into it, and it turned out that he had pled guilty to assault (plea-bargained down from rape), and had been convicted another time for domestic violence. Perfectly innocent! The classic example of this genre was the New York Times publishing a sob store about an innocent deported to Jamaica ("a country he barely knew") after 25 years in the US. It turned out that this innocent had spent 16 of those 25 years in Federal prison. Posted by: The ARC of History! at May 11, 2025 12:35 PM (xTIDn) 59

Why won't they editorialize in favor of the abolition of CBP and rendering crossing the border into this country as innocuous as crossing, say, county lines?
Because that would be giving the game away. Far better to use subterfuges, like: "Just log in on this app, and we'll give you an appointment for your asylum application eight years from now. The latest prediction diagrams have been updated accordingly but reflect the commonly used full prediction uncertainties where ESA’s Space Debris Office predicted that the reentry of the descent craft will have taken place at: 06:16 UTC (08:16 CEST) on 10 May 2025 The uncertainty in this prediction was +/- 0.36 hours. That would be nice, except it seems that more and more that "shareholder value" is increasingly driven by stock manipulations, accounting chicanery, planned obsolescence, tying arrangements, monopolistic practices, price-fixing, and generally fucking the customer over at every possible turn. Millions of years ago, when the Earth had far more life than today, the average world temperature was 10 C higher than today.
That's an indisputable scientific fact. Who decided that the current average temperature was the optimum, and that this is the most stable temperature and how did they determine both of those? Answer: Shut up, climate denier. They will literally refuse to answer any of those questions. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at May 11, 2025 02:03 PM (NwfFc) 162
You know what would cool the planet 100 times better than cutting carbon?
Flooding the Sahara, re-forming the ancient, historical lakes. And it would cost 1/10 of the current global warming expenditures. But that's a project that would benefit people instead of governments. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at May 11, 2025 02:07 PM (NwfFc) 163
Thank you for the hat tip. I couldn’t agree more.

Carbon offsets for flying commercial flights run 2%
Of the ticket cost. On international flight it has been a law for over 10years. IATA Not surprised that CBD did not mention the actual costs involved Posted by: Aliassmithsmith at May 11, 2025 02:56 PM (F/akb) 165

Nice try. I rarely criticize others about their grammar unless it’s a funny typo , and if we’re going to bounce everybody that says anything remotely critical of anyone’s post that would include you, bucko or buckette as the case may be. 😊 Posted by: FenelonSpoke at May 11, 2025 02:56 PM (Gl0jE) 166
It is long past time for the boards of directors of major corporations in America to force the issue, and make their CEOs return to the appropriate goals of every public company: enhancing shareholder value is not something that has become passé.
Not going to happen when the boards of directors of most major corporations in America (and the world) are made up of Marxist leftists who are more interested in pushing their ideology than making profits. See Hollywood. "The message" and woke indoctrination has been the priority since 2015 or so and there is no loss of profits that will deter them from continuing the indoctrination. They are playing the long game. The Marxist Left started their push decades ago. And the election of Reagan did not deter them. The election and eventual re-election of Trump will not deter them either. We have been in a never-ending civil war with the Marxist Left for at least 50-75 years. Not going to end anytime soon, especially when they still control the vast majority of the institutions they captured during their Long March. The establishment media of course are now constantly churning out sob stories about innocent illegal aliens who have peacefully been living in the United States for decades who are now cruelly being deported for no reason at all.
Posted by: The ARC of History! at May 11, 2025 12:35 PM Interesting new policy by Trump to get illegals to self-deport: offering them a free (American taxpayer funded) flight back their home countries and a (American taxpayer funded) $1,000 stipend. https://bit.ly/4maOwYT But a free flight back to their country of origin wasn’t all; Trump sweetened the pot with an additional perk. “Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a historic opportunity for illegal aliens to receive both financial and travel assistance to facilitate travel back to their home country through the CBP Home App. Any illegal alien who uses the CBP Home App to self-deport will also receive a stipend of $1,000 dollars, paid after their return to their home country has been confirmed through the app,” it said in the press release.
