THE MORNING RANT: President Trump defunds PBS and NPR, which identify the Declaration of Independence as a “document that contains offensive language”

Back before government-funded public radio fully morphed into a bastion of anti-Americanism, NPR had a tradition of reading the Declaration of Independence every July 4.

With NPR, PBS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting fully captured by the America-hating left, the annual reading of the Declaration became a distasteful experience for NPR’s journalists. Effective July 4, 2022, NPR officially terminated its annual reading of the Declaration of Independence, replacing it instead with a discussion of what a despicable country the United States is and has always been. NPR understood that July 4th is a traumatic day for its listener base, so it sought to offer some comfort to triggered listeners recoiling at the star-spangled fun going on around them by denouncing patriotic Americans as being racists.

NPR also retroactively updated its previous links about the reading of the Declaration of Independence to advise that it is a racist document containing offensive language. Here is a link to NPR’s July 4, 2019 reading of the Declaration, with an Editors Note retroactively added in 2022 which reads:

Editor's note on July 8, 2022: This story quotes the U.S. Declaration of Independence — a document that contains offensive language about Native Americans, including a racial slur.

Although the House of Representatives allegedly controls the nation’s purse strings, and although there have been numerous Republican House speakers over the past several decades, none has chosen to defund NPR and PBS. President Donald Trump finally did what Mike Johnson, Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy, John Boehner, etc would not do when he ordered the suspension of all taxpayer funding to NPR and PBS.

LEFT: Trump has now ordered an END to federal funding of NPR and PBS.

RIGHT: NPR CEO Katherine Maher believes her "number one challenge" is the First Amendment.

President George W. Bush could have defunded public broadcasting, but he wouldn’t. Speaker Paul Ryan, an alleged small-government “budget hawk” could have done so too, but he wouldn’t. Current House Speaker Mike Johnson could stop any further appropriations for public broadcasting, but he has shown that he won’t. In fact, Speaker Johnson has pretty much put the House on permanent vacation so he can avoid enacting any legislation to codify into law the actions of President Trump and DOGE.

This is another reminder of why President Trump’s support is so strong from those of us who are weary of establishment Republicans who promised to reduce the size of government and cut spending, but didn’t. Bush, Ryan, Boehner, etc all lied to our faces when they talked about eliminating government waste and defunding left-wing propaganda mills operating at taxpayer expense. These are the same establishment Republicans who also ran on the promise of closing the border, eliminating the Department of Education, etc. They never meant any of it. They lied to us to get elected. But now, Donald Trump has actually closed the border and is eliminating the Department of Education.

Meanwhile, the polite Republicans of Conservative, Inc. all applaud those same mendacious establishment Republicans for having the “character” that Donald Trump lacks. They also condemn Trump as not being a “true conservative” even though he is the only Republican to slash government jobs and spending in a manner that we conservatives have been demanding for years.

There is nothing about defunding NPR and PBS that will prevent it from operating without taxpayer funding. Its loyal listeners can still hate on the flag and hold a solemn day of mourning every July 4. But thanks to Donald Trump, those of us who love this country will no longer have to pay for NPR’s America-bashing propaganda.

69 Saw The Electric State last night. Meh. There was a much better movie in there somewhere, but bad pacing, some ludicrous plot points, and bad casting smothered the potential.

And that's the problem. The GOP fundraising on the judiciary saving us, instead of doing...anything on their own.

It's almost like it was a grift...all the while federal funded schools, radio, and NGOs used trillions of fed dollars to turn America gay and trans.

Meh. You’ve never seen cartoon robots before? Either in Pixar -type movies or any one of the several “five nights at Freddy’s” type movies? They just did a cartoon-like robot movie last year called … Wild Robot.

A bit off topic but your comment reminds me of a sergeant I had working for me years ago. A great NCO and a fine family. His daughter was on the softball team I coached. I was called into the boss's office and told I needed to counsel the sergeant because he had not cashed his paycheck for months. I was to find out why and if the family was in distress.
So later I walked over to his desk and had a quiet word. He laughed when I told him why I was there, opened his desk drawer and there were paychecks going back almost a year. Turns out he received a stipend from the tribe every month that was a hell of a lot more than staff sergeant's pay. He was saving the Army pay for a Christmas vacation.

I just avoided the county seat as much as possible.

260 PBS programming is in two buckets. It's either about black history, and black oppression, and how America is still oppressing blacks, or it's snooty Brit stuff, opera, and climate change.

I doubt blacks watch either one, but I'm sure it makes UMC liberals feel good about themselves. Either way, I don't need to pay for it.

Don't forget forcing black actors into roles where their people historically were not present. An episode of Miss Austen was on PBS last night, and I glanced up to see a black actor dressed like Mr. Darcy and clearly playing a role like that. In 1830 England? Pfffft.

The Rangers started hitting the Comanches hard because they had a firepower edge over the Comanches. Then the Rangers had to fight Yankees for 5 years. Ultimately, the Comanche were defeated by a Yankee Colonel named McKenzie using the Ranger's tactics and weapons.

Well, they redid Persuasion with an Asian actor playing Captain Wentworth of the royal Navy. There is, however, a retelling of Pride and Prejudice with African American folks. I think other parts of the story are changed as well. I only know this because the AA postmistress at the town where the church I serve was reading it and I always like to know what people are reading. Could they have been dramatizing that novel?
