The Lenovo Legion Tab 3 is pretty good if you're looking for a small, fast Android tablet with a high resolution screen. (Notebook Check)

Which is a good thing since it is the only small Android tablet with a high resolution screen, apart from Aliexpress deals.

Also good because I just bought one.

However, the Lenovo Legion Tab 4 has already been leaked, so you might not want to buy this one unless you see it on sale. Which I did.

It's comparable to Apple's latest iPad Mini - in fact, the review scores of the two devices were only 0.1% apart.
Minisforum has a new mini-PC that is not quite so mini. (Liliputing)

It has a 16 core Ryzen 9 9955HX laptop CPU, up to 96GB of RAM (or 128GB if you can find the modules), three M.2 slots, a PCIe slot (for very small PCIe cards), two 2.5Gb Ethernet ports, and two 10Gb Ethernet ports, which is a bit unusual in this class of device. They're SFP rather than RJ45, though, so you'll need transceivers or fancy cables.

Prices start at $839.

AM Radio frequencies have much farther range at night, due to atmospheric “skip”, for example, but cell phone frequencies are a lot higher. Not sure this is a proper analogy.

I think a big part of the problem is people recognize it (and rightfully so) as a carefully curated parlor trick. It can be easily demonstrated right now if you're a twitter/X user.

Go to Grok, type in "why are black people awesome", and it will tell you.

Then type in "why are white people awesome", and it will scold you.

No. That's not how this works, and even ipad grandmas with their Apple stickers on the back of their Prius and other non-tech people can intuitively tell that something is very, very wrong and they're being manipulated, and people will reject it accordingly because they know it's all fake and gay.

I suspect it will eventually become a cultural issue similar to full-throat MSM vs 99.9% Fox news. "Oh, their AI is biased towards Nazis!!!" or something similar

But lots of rock outcroppings made it difficult in many areas.

64 Thing is AI is improving at an extremely fast pace. I asked Chat GPT a year ago how to do something in Powershell and it made up a flag on a command to do what I wanted to do that just did not exist.

If I ask Grok today something similar it will give me three or four ways to do something and they will all be technically correct and one will be spot on for my situation.

I think it has it's place, but I don't think has a very meaningful role in normal people's lives until they jailbreak it. And they never can, because then people might learn things.

ChatGPT produces a response that is too detailed and formatted to post here, seems legit, and if you know what you are looking at you can pretty quickly discern if the results are responsive to your request.

Like everything, AI is simply a tool.

As I've recounted, I am building out my own ERP system, and what would normally take a team of programmers and developers years to complete will probably allow me to get to an MVP candidate in around 4 months using AI.

That was yesterday!

Actually Linda got this recent movie Kandahar from the library, and we watched it last night. Or I sat through it. It has everything I hate about modern films: murky lighting indoors, no lighting outdoors in night scenes (so you have no idea who is doing what) and overexposed yellowness in day scenes. Too much realism -- I don't want to know what the marketplace in Kabul or wherever it was looks like in reality. And loads of men dressed in burlap body suits pointing AK47s at everybody.

Give me Rear Window again.

95 Cassettes and CDs . . . I got rid of my cassettes a few years ago when I no longer had a player in the car or a device at home to play them. And most of what I had on them were songs that I've got on CD, .mp3, or .mp4.

I have a lot of CDs still. But my computers here don't have CD drives (I think; one Win laptop might). I could play them in the DVD player through my TV, though, and in my car.

I don't miss the cassettes. It's so much easier now to skip right to a song on a CD or .mp3, and to skim through the track to a favorite part.

204 We use Copilot at work. At first I was a real skeptic but then I tried using it to write small python Databricks cells and it did magnificently. You definitely need to tell it how to do what it is it should write the code for - but its MUCH much better than having to suffer through tons of obscure Azure API/SDK documentation that is seemingly outdated the day that its published.
Also used Copilot to write the user help wiki page for the application I developed. It was super easy because I just went screen by screen through the application and gave it the same prompt on every screen. It got about 90% there and I just filled in the rest where the gaps were.
Definitely made a weeks to months long project take only a few days.

We have a Sr Manager at work who's an Indian immigrant. He a seriously nice guy but a bit aloof. He's a vegetarian and he has kids that that are vegetarian.

His wife is a doctor.

He's always taking off work because his kids are sick.

It's become a joke at work that they just need a hamburger or two.

If you meet an Indian looking person that doesn't have an accent, those are the ones I am talking about.

My one time SIL was pure Thai and beautiful and had the most trashy southern accent you ever heard. It was shocking.

Listen, in my industry the word "programmer" means that you've been trained to use what amounts to a rapid application development IDE that creates data entry screens for nurses to use to enter patient data into a database. They don't know what API's are. When we have to use API's to "talk" to other external systems their eyes glaze over because it wasn't taught in their 5 day bootcamp class.
This is what I deal with on a daily basis. It makes me weep.
Nobody is self-taught. Nobody has initiative. Nobody is curious. Everyone wants to have their hand held.

Maybe AI will replace them all and rid me of their vapidness.

Always have to check it, and in my experience the best method of using AI to code is to generate a single function/procedure at a time with very specific instructions as far as parameters to accept, return values, data types, variable names, method of looping/iteration.... if you're very specific about how to put it all together, then you get magnificent results in a very short amount of time.

And you don't have to f**king worry about stupid python indenting. Seriously as a class C trained developer I have a special hatred for whoever decided to make "whitespace" a critical character in python.

I am always very honest with myself. It's one of my faults.

The guy hired me. Admittedly it's hard to find qualified people in what I do and it takes a lot of experience which is what he told me convinced him to bring me on board.
