77 Reminds me of a visit with my 75 year old Polish grandfather. I pointed to the scythe hanging in the barn and asked him if it worked. He gave me a short primer on technique and brought me to the side of the building where the grass was tall. I took some swings for a few minutes, trying different methods to get a good sweep, but all I could manage was som bent grass. I concluded it needed sharpening. With a big smile, he took the scythe from me and dropped three or four rows as neat as could be. Skill and muscle memory is a beautiful thing.

94 Looking at his Wiki page, Gierymski was capable of careful, complex detail and use of light. This one is much more Impressionistic especially for the background and the sheaf. Enlarging the image brings out the brush strokes and layers of color he used. The boy, by contrast, is more realistic and forms a focal point for the viewer. The boy's pose, how his legs are positioned, give a sense of movement. It's not a dramatic scene, almost like a study for the artist developing a technique. I get a sense of quiet, just the boy's feet against the grass and shifting of the straw as he moves.

Fun fact I learned docenting at a local historic house: In the old days (early 19th century in this case), there were no left- or right-foot shoes. You just bought two shoes that were perfectly straight, and over time they would conform to the curve of the feet. Must've been painful until the shoes were broken in.

Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week.

We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest.

Thankfully our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public.

219 CNN, Russian general killed in car blast just outside Moscow ahead of Witkoff-Putin meeting, Fri, April 25, 2025

"A senior Russian general has died in a car bombing in the Russian city of Balashikha on Friday, authorities say, with news of the blast breaking just before US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Witkoff is in the Russian capital for crunch talks on a potential ceasefire in Ukraine as Trump’s self-imposed deadline of ending the war within the first 100 days of his presidency nears."

As Ben Franklin says, two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead. Basically encryption simply keeps the common riff raff criminals out of your comm loop if it matters. Not a match for the tricks of the Deep State aka Stinger inceptor towers, being able to implant malware on your phone or computer, or their computers. It is also probable that there are backdoors to anything other than open source code projects if not chips in the US itself.

My guess is Salt Typhoon, Chinese massive penetration of US telecoms among other industries, was aided by such baked in backdoors used by teh Feds to monitor the US population.

Putin hitting civilians in Kiev the other day merits equal condemnation if you are going to do scoring. Basically, there are no good guys to root for in such a place and we will actually be advantaged ourselves in the US from walking away from that mess. We spent far too much treasure, if not blood, in that morass to little effect other than enriching our Deep State and politicians.

In a match between autocrats, who cares who wins sort of like Hussein versus the Mullahs decades ago (Iran-Iraq war). We will have to deal with the consequences after whoever 'wins' (almost certainly to be Russia) in the future. That is particularly true if we stay in the decaying NATO alliance but we are better off casting them adrift as well. Let Euroland deal with Russia themselves. Rather have a Vlad protectorate than Muzzies running the place.
