The court pleadings for TdA member that was being harbored by Judge Cano (now former) and his wife here in Las Cruces, NM show him with guns, ammos, and shooting them at the local municipal gun range. How the Feds got on to him is he posted all the crap on Facebook. This is first known time Facebook proved useful.
When the Feds interrogated him he coughed up he was living with the Canos and that old lady Cano was getting him day jobs. Oops. Somewhere in the swirl of court documents it was noted the TdA guy's phone was in the Cano's possession and apparently contained inquires about getting hand grenades and something about some headless corpses. Old man Cano, when he got wind of the extent of what was coming smashed this dear youth's phone and tossed in a dumpster. Big guess: getting a federal obstruction charge was way better the getting snarled up in what was on that phone. Plus their attorney is my attorney. Las Cruces is just, well, it is what it is. New Mexico, it is not a state, its a 2.5 world country. Posted by: Altaria Pilgram - My President has convictions at April 25, 2025 07:31 PM (amnH6) 4

There are a bunch of films that make me scratch my head, especially lately. Get this: they just, this year, added in a requirement that all of the people who vote on best film have to actually watch the movie. Kramer vs Kramer actually won that year but Breaking Away was nominated. But the competition wasn't strong: Normal Rae, Apocalypse Now, and All That Jazz were the other nominees. Early explorers in Antarctica found that packing salted penguins in barrels for the long trip home was a serious mistake, as they later discovered "the black flesh of the body is rank and oily, and has rather a perfumed taste". Many sailors perished rather than consume what was on the mephitic menu, or contracted brain worms from the syphilitic penguin meat.
Subsequent attempts at canning penguins failed miserably, as no one in their right mind would even consider eating canned penguin. Posted by: Penguin Facts at April 25, 2025 08:00 PM (vFG9F) 77

Read a theory about Apocalypse Now. That Capt. Willard did actually shoot himself at the beginning of the movie. The rest of the movie is just him doing a 'Dante's Inferno' on the way to hell. Doesn't quite do that IMO but I liked the idea. The movie had a dreamy/nightmare vibe to it.

Re the Japan Mouse commercials. Japan Mouse fixes your computer. Their ads rely on cute (for Japanese version of cute, pretty appealing to a Westerner, but a little strange) girls who cosplay just a little as mice, plus a lot of completely lost on a gaijin word play (must be a native speaker to really get it) plus a little bit of what is essentially who’s on first in Japanese. You can find an English subtitled longer ad on YouTube where everything is explained, but even then it goes by so fast that you as a gaijin are left way far behind.

------------ Growing up in Vegas in the 60s and 70s was a trip (don't recognize it now). Had a fair number of friends (including my first girlfriend) whose fathers were in the mafia. Most of those kids got great jobs out of high school in the casinos parking cars (valets) and carrying bags (bellmen) -- making near minimum-wage but six figures annually in tax-free tips. One of my buddies from football got THE primo gig at Caesar's Palace (the classiest & most expensive place back then): bellman who helped "run the hookers." Rich guys would come into town and ask him to arrange $1000/night hookers to visit their rooms -- and of course he'd get paid a decent referral fee. To be fair, most of the left have never attended any sort of Bible study so their understanding mostly comes from the Peanuts Christmas special..but Jesus and his early followers got their largest pushback from...the traditional Jewish establishment. They had put too much effort into getting credentialed and established to want anybody and their ideas to upset their status quo. Romans could care less about the theology of the Jews. All they wanted was the Jews under control. The Jewish top establishment would work with them to keep the lid on so Romans would go along with them to an extent. They feared that Jesus was interested in leading some sort of uprising but once they determined He didn't intend to be that sort of king they didn't really care. Pilate just wanted to keep the top Jews agreeable.
