The Morning Report — 4/ 21 /25

popechange.jpg

Good morning kids. Hope you all had a blessed Easter Sunday. And of course the big news this morning is that Pope Francis has died.

I want to be very careful what I write and how I phrase my thoughts because the last thing I want to do is offend my dear Catholic brothers and sisters. Regardless of the background, and it is a very checkered background indeed of this Pope, he was the head of the Catholic church, and his death coming as it does at the end of the Easter holy week, makes writing this column all the more problematic.

Yet, that said, His life and background defined who he was. And by looking at this summary of his words and actions from the invaluable Discover the Networks makes it crystal clear, and this excerpt is just the bullet point intro:

*Calls on America to welcome illegal immigrants fleeing persecution in their homelands
*Characterizes capitalism as an economic system “where the powerful feed upon the powerless,” and which leads inevitably to “the greedy exploitation of environmental resources”
*Asserts that the “inequality” inherent in capitalist economies constitutes “the root of social ills” and “eventually engenders … violence”
*Believes that “the bulk of global warming” is due to “the great concentration of greenhouse gases” generated by “human action”
*Opposes the death penalty and life-in-prison

From my perspective, until the very end he was essentially the same unreconstructed Argentinian Communist he always was. It's not that he embraced and promoted secular political causes, it's that the causes he embraced were at the forefront of a movement that sought the dismantling of the Church he was supposed to lead and antithetical to his stated beliefs about humanity, inclusiveness, justice and the lofty ideals he supposedly championed.

Most horrendous was his embrace of Islam, as Islam ramped up its ongoing 1,500-year war against infidels, including the Church all over the world and most brutally in one of the last major bastions of Catholicism and Christianity in general in the world, central Africa.

As he welcomed and embraced the most radical imams to the Vatican he made no mention of their bloody rampage, and yet insisted that the Western world and Catholics commit societal suicide by erasing their borders, destroying the greatest engine of prosperity the world will ever know, free market capitalism, and accepting the global warming/climate change lie as the excuse.

Also, his views on homosexuality and transsexualism in service to that dissolution were not merely the echoing of the sentiment of loving the sinner and hating the sin, but also as yet another assault on the Church from within. Perhaps if the Pope spent less time on demanding the faithful accept teachings antithetical to traditional Catholicism, he would have better served the faithful in defending them instead of defending the forces of darkness and evil seeking their destruction.

So an extremely flawed man who held the title of Pope has passed, and it will be up to the Lord to render His final judgement.

I certainly hope and pray that the next Pope is someone, who like John Paul II not only understands but perhaps like him at one point actually lived under the boot of and then stared down the face of evil. It would be most appropriate that Francis' successor be his diametric opposite. Given what's going on in the world today, it would be a Divine blessing, and I would be thrilled to see the cardinal from Nigeria or any from that part of Africa , whose flock has and continues to be decimated by Boko Haram and its allies be elected.

I have no idea what the internal politics are of the Vatican and college of cardinals. Given the twisted politics of far too much of the Western and putatively Christian world, insofar as the infection known as Wokism, Perhaps the best we can hope for is not another Pope Fiction, communist in Papal drag. I don't think they'll have the stones to elect someone who will be as vocal in calling out Islam as Francis was in apologizing for Islam while denouncing the advancement of Western civilization over the past two millennia.

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

2 Good Monday, one and all. It's been a busy weekend all things considered. Two of our guest dogs went home yesterday. One was supposed to go home on Monday but the owner decided to pick him up early. The other was supposed to go home on Saturday but his owner forgot that in the midst of the vacation planning.

Had a nice Easter lunch at the mother-in-law's house, my co-worker's wife just gave birth to a huge (23 inches) girl and Monday is peaceful so far.

17 Alito's last paragraph of dissent against SCOTUS' botched justice.
The whole thing is a good whippin'.

In sum, literally in the middle of the night, the Court is-
sued unprecedented and legally questionable relief without
giving the lower courts a chance to rule, without hearing
from the opposing party, within eight hours of receiving the
application, with dubious factual support for its order, and
without providing any explanation for its order.

I refused to join the Court's order because we had no good reason to think that, under the circumstances, issuing an order at
midnight was necessary or appropriate.

Both the Executive and the Judiciary have an obligation
to follow the law.

The Executive must proceed under the terms of our order in Trump v. J. G. G., 604 U. S.. (2025) (per curiam), and this Court should follow established procedures.

20 Thank you JJ

I’m not Catholic myself but I think Pope John Paul II was one of the greatest figures of the 20th century. Pope Francis not so much. I have a very good friend who is an extremely devout Catholic (runs a Catholic lay organization, daily mass)… I once (hopefully tactfully) asked him about that human variation in the papal office. I could tell he didn’t want to criticize Francis but just said something like “it’s the office not the man” and that popes very rarely have spoken with infallibility… maybe never in my lifetime. So most Catholics go about their religious life and the pope has little impact there. Not sure if his view is widely shared….

21 "Is it time to ignore the judiciary?"

I wouldn't call it ignore so much as confront and defy -- with scrupulous selectivity, eviscerating legal clarity, and total, righteous commitment. Americans deserve and require this confrontation.

What these cowards on the Supreme Court just ruled cannot stand. Trump must know this.

23 Regardless of Francis' stance on things, the College of Men In Funny Hats Cardinals has the opportunity to elect someone who is theologically conservative and not enamored of making Heaven on Earth. I hope they pay attention to that, this time.

24 I think the big story that almost everyone has been missing is the grass roots traditionalist movement gaining a foothold among the faithful. The new seminarians and priests are more likely to roll old school.
The young Catholics are yearning for a return to solid values. Our parish has seen an influx of young families, with the moms dressing modestly as in below the knee skirts and head coverings.

41 I remember reading somewhere, a policy paper or discussion written in the 1950s about how one of the major roadblocks to one world government globalist control was the political power of various religious groups in the USA. The concern was the necessity of manipulating beliefs and opinions and changing them, and religion had an outsize influence on attitudes. The consensus was that they had to be infiltrated and so on, something that appears to have been extremely successful. It wouod seem from a globalist standpoint, a flexible catholic pontiff would be extremely important. Bergoglio seems to have filled that role pretty well. If everything is rigged, no organization will get the leaders needed, seems to be the takeaway. At best, just ineffectual placeholders who occasionally mouth the right platitudes and manage the decline.

43 Pope Francis know the truth now.

My family and I are practicing Roman Catholics who prefer the Traditional Latin Mass. We are praying "...for a Pope who will shine forth in his words and deeds, as well as in his silences and patience, Christ, whose Vicar he must be" as Father Z puts it.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

I initially thought the "Alien Enemies Act" was invoked because MS-13 and the other cartels had been labeled "foreign terrorist organizations." So, am I to believe that SCOTUS does not think these cartels are terrorists, as declared by Trump?

I guess that's one issue. The other is whether SCOTUS has put a stop a all deportations regardless of status.

The People, in every poll I've ever seen, want these illegal aliens sent back home. He's trying to get rid of them; trying to do his job in literally protecting the citizens of the USA...and the judiciary is stopping him from getting these people out. It's simply breathtaking to me!

He was using the act as a method of expediting removal, otherwise, the illegals are afforded due process.

And now with the courts signaling that illegals will have individual due process that will include access to article III judges up to and including the SCOTUS, there is no practical way to remove the millions upon millions of illegals The Biden Junta let into the country.

I mean, hospitals and military bases work 24-7. If we must now offer due process, we don't have to do it 9-5 M-F only...

85 The Executive must proceed under the terms of our order in Trump v. J. G. G., 604 U. S.. (2025) (per curiam), and this Court should follow established procedures.

And Hell to that No.

You don't get to flagrantly beak the rules, demand that your enemy abide by your ruling and then mouth some empty platitude about following procedures you didn't do and have no intention of doing in the future, nor show any repentance or intent to correct the problem.

The courts have either made themselves irrelevant or are in outright sedition and need to be treated as occupying enemy combatants.

Europe mourns the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
His contagious smile captured millions of people’s hearts across the globe.
‘The People’s Pope’ will be remembered for his love for life, hope for peace, compassion for equality & social justice.
May he rest in peace

VP Vance flew to Rome to meet with Pope Francis. Instead, the Pope skipped the meeting entirely—and sent his top cardinal to deliver a pointed message about compassion and care for the vulnerable. Per Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's best Christian: "This is known as a “Holy Ghost”

He hung on long enough to rebuke Vance. Sad news for those who do not want a rightward leap again for the church. Pope Frank was a good judge of character.

One of the Pope’s last statements: "I continue to receive very serious and painful news from Gaza. Unarmed civilians are subjected to bombings and shootings. It is terrorism."

I don't know if there was ever any other Pope who was so loved by people outside as well as inside the Catholic Church.

But under Covid, when they issued clearly illegal orders, with no scientific, logical or medicinal basis, when your rights were being violated, when you were denied the right to assemble, the right to travel, the right to speak, the right to redress, the right to worship--he told you to fuck off and he'll get around to it the day after never.

181 it would be a Divine blessing, and I would be thrilled to see the cardinal from Nigeria or any from that part of Africa , whose flock has and continues to be decimated by Boko Haram and its allies be elected.

-------------------

That would be the best outcome not just for Catholicism but for Christianity as a whole and thus the western civilisation. Such a choice would surely please the wokesters, just think - a first black Pope.

But then you have to consider that two thirds of the voting cardinals have been put in place by Francis so I'm afraid we could end up with a German gay Pope.

Posted by: Decaf at April 21, 2025 08:30 AM (unUNN)

182 Democrats and liberals in general largely abhor the Christian faith. They don’t like what it clearly states about their ideology, replete with infant murder, adultery, homosexuality, child abuse and defiling of the human body, to name a few. That’s not a judgement, btw. It’s clearly written in the text and outlined in church doctrine. To promote such things is sinful. It is none thing to sin. It is quite another to willingly live in sin and bring others into that deviancy. These things aren’t hard to understand if you actually read the Bible and church doctrine. It they are inconvenient truths to the ignorant and the false prophets.

243 Can someone give me the Cliff Notes version of SCOTUS stopping deportations?
--
Margo Cleveland on X and Josh Blackman at Reason have good summaries.
Alito's dissent is concise.

1) They granted original relief in flat-out, black-letter violation of the Constitution--no lower court, with exclusive original jurisdiction had ruled. No appellate court had ruled.
Not just a clear Constitutional violation, but a violation of every one of their precious standing and ripeness rules. (That they use to do nothing when your rights are violated.)
2) They granted relief to a class--without any class being certified--a huge, huge violation of the Rules-- and didn't even define what the class is.
3) They granted standing as class representatives to the named plaintiff, and their counsel, again, with no class certification. Another huge, huge Rule violation.
4) They even violated Marbury v. Madison--that they must have jurisdiction.

It was one of the worst fuck-ups by the Court in over 150 years.

All to stop Trump from deporting criminal aliens ...

He was the Joe Biden of Catholicism.

He was a die-hard leftist commie who has no business being pope in the first place. He set back Catholicism and its standing in the world by decades at least. The faith is the faith, no matter who is in charge.

A lot of Catholics miss that point. The pope, unless he's speaking ex cathedra (which is SO RARE) is no more perfect than you or I. He's just doing what he thinks best - sometimes, it is...and sometimes, it's not. But the faith/the tenets/the beliefs do not change.

So, swaying with the winds of the leadership changes is a faith not understood. It's not like leaving a political party b/c you don't like the new president.

303 There was one [and maybe 2-4 others!]

Court documents say a Border Patrol agent arrested Hermosillo “at or near Nogales, Arizona, without proper immigration documents” and that Hermosillo admitted to illegally entering the U.S.

Hermosillo and his girlfriend, who have a 9-month-old child together, live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and are visiting family in Tucson. He says he has never been to Nogales.

His girlfriend’s aunt Grace Layva says she and her family made numerous calls looking for him before they found out he was being detained in the Florence Correctional Center, which Immigration and Customs Enforcement uses to detain people.

Another family member drove to the detention center, about 70 miles northwest of Tucson, but said officials wouldn’t provide any information or release him.

ICE did not respond to a request for comment about the wrongful detention.

The family later provided officials with his birth certificate and social security card.

The name stands for 50 protests in 50 states and one movement — referring to the group's first nationwide protest at state capitols.

@mjfree Millions participate in #HANDSOFF protests across the country!

Turnout in small towns across has been incredible! We’re already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.

We made international headlines! I was heartened to hear this as the first or second headline on BBC World Service news most of yesterday afternoon and through at least part of the night. It was likely covered widely. So at least the world will understand how much this administration is despised.

Yup.

They completely threw everything they claim they hold dear out the window to stop Trump from deporting violent gang members.

In every filing from now on, Trump can cite this ruling "when the Court overruled Marbury v. Madison, by finding it has original jurisdiction, the Court took away the authority of the District Courts to hear these matters."

And refuse to respond to the lower courts any further.

It's the same with due process in immigration cases. There is black letter law about due process for these cases but it is not the same as due process for US citizens. Even asylum seekers who followed the process have different due process rights than those who just broke in like Garcia.

I can't say I'm surprised how the district court judges have been acting. Despite Roberts' blathering about the courts being apolitical that lie was amply demonstrated during the J6 cases.

Roberts weak and vague orders reigning them in has made this much worse than it should have been and given the left cover to pretend the law says things it doesn't.

Hopefully, we get a new Pope that will eschew all of the Marxist Liberation Theology nonsense that informed PF's time as Pope.

That in my opinion, was the real damage PF caused to the Church. He legitimized sermons around "improving" one's politics, which is not why I go to Church, instead of improving one's soul.

Anyway, we'll see.

426 If it is so that the SCOTUS, that couldn't find standing for the 2020 election steal, wouldn't even hear it, and can't find a reason to support separations of powers and the proper use of the Executive branch vs rogue boutique located judges has said stupid midnight shit, I say go full Andrew Jackson AND Abe Lincoln and ignore. This is the Civil War 2.0. If one localized, highly non representative judge can gum up the federal workings of the Executive it's the same question as Federal vs state power only even more micro located. It's also clearly lopsided where the left breaks the rules and ignores the rules to favor its side. It never breaks the other way. This hand must be forced and the time is now. We already know what it will return to if we fail, so let's break some eggs now for the chance of extrication out of a death spiral. Deport ! and Good luck with SCOTUS enforcing it.

Yep. February 2020 the economy was doing great, President Trump was fighting off every attempt of the Deep State to undermine him and impeach him and the legacy media was asking Democrats how they could win in November 2020 in this economic climate.

A month later they put the Plandemic operation into action, then stole the 2020 election.

There is no doubt they have been busy planning similar operations to steal 2026 and 2028 elections. Which will be much easier to do with President Trump no longer on the ballot.

So yeah, would be extremely foolish for conservatives to become complacent.
