Easter Potato Roll Cafe

The Figen

Storm chaser Laura Rowe captured the picture of a lifetime on with this fantastic shot of a mature supercell thunderstorm, illuminated at varying heights from the setting sun.

2021, Texas

Her best friend is her beaver. (IG) Hear that.

Never leave a branch behind. (IG)

Smooth jazz hound.

ICYMI: Dog has perfect defense against a cat bully.

Baby bears playing. They're not out of control yet, but I see the telltale signs.

Baby lion roars.

The "Three Dogs" replace the "Three Monkeys." Don't Listen to the Left's Lies, Do Listen to Trump, and Half-Listen to Tucker Carlson, Sometimes.

There's nothing like a good scritch.

Did I do that?

9 I suspect it's more a case of - none of these things is particularly toxic by itself but when mixed with the other 27 trillion chemicals in the American food supply it causes problems.

There's probably a lot to this. Like the way Smilex worked by cosmetics in Batman 1989.

In early June, 1991, there was amazing display of the Aurora Borealis. Phenomenal. By coincidence, a bunch of us went out to a drive-in movie because it was the last night of high school. It filled the sky and I wondered what it meant.

I was irreligious then, but there was undeniable awe in that sky. Was it a sign of our future?

Larry Page - yes, the Google guy - was there with us. I think back on that from time to time.

Mostly they have 1 or 2...but they usually have at least last year's batch around as well.

They don't all survive to adulthood, though. It's a tough living. Doubly so for the young males.

I tried to turn Cat into an indoor one, but he *insists* on being outside most of the time. He do he bidness out there, and doesn't even know what to do with a litterbox.

Full disclosure: He was a neighbor's barn cat. Never was allowed indoors until I "got" him, when he was 12 yrs old. Set in his ways.

Excellent mouser, he is! But he appreciates the warm, dry, safe, indoors when weather is bad & some dry kibble 'treat' from time to time.

99 I lived in an area between suburbia and rural on the border of an abandoned walnut orchard - my cat was outdoors at day and at night if he wanted. Lots of moles and gophers. No cat door. Kitty would just look at me in a certain way and that was the signal he wanted out at night. Kitty followed me around like a dog.

He'd drop half eaten mole carcasses on the back porch. Never hunted birds. Never once scratched me.

174 It’s the Palestinians that never existed. After the Romans defeated the Jews at the end of the First Jewish Revolt, they wiped Judaea off the map and renamed it Palestina after the Phillistines who, by that time, no longer existed. The British Mandate was called Palestine because the British love their Roman history. But the so-called Palestinians are just Arabs living in the territory. Not all the Jews were sold into slavery after the first rebellion since there were two more Jewish Rebellions, neither as successful as the first. All three rebellions failed, but there were always Jews in the land since the 12 tribes crossed the Jordan westward near Jericho.

177 We're hatching out baby chicks as we speak. You can see their bodies when you candle the eggs. It's odd to think that someone somewhere looked at this in-between stage and thought "NOW!"

Leftist logic used appropriately:

1) Meat is murder
B) Abortion is not

So, if you kill the calf just as it's crowning, it's cruelty-free veal. Enjoy!

178 It’s the Palestinians that never existed.

Who cares? That’s not how ownership of land works. The Indians used to own the land where my house sits. If they were to try to take it back, I would kill them. Land belongs to whoever can hold it, by wiles or by force.

Anyway, the Holy Land belongs to the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and therefore to the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church.

But, he does not have as large a territory since he was neutered and spends a bit of time in the yard. He does still hunt but not as much as before. He loves to sleep on the bed or the couch. My other cat has always been an indoor cat.

193 All this stuff about the ancient history of Israel is tedious, because everyone knows what the score would be if the Palis had nukes and Israel didn’t.

It’s like Putins interview with Tucker Carlson when he was going on about Kievan Rus. I hate Ukraine, but either take Kiev, nuke Kiev, or stfu. This whiny “It used to be ours!” stuff is silly.

194 Talk about synchronicity, I’m reading an interesting book about UFO activity and nuclear ICBM missile sites in the 1960s. It’s a well documented book with a lot of interviews, I’d heard vague stories but thought they were a one off or rare. Apparently it was fairly routine.

Lots of weirdness, power supplies out in conjunction with sightings, including backup diesels inop. Final battery power backup, batteries drained.

Part of the problem, you can’t talk about UFOs and keep your job, or clearances necessarily to be cleared to work at nuclear sites. Understandable. But after 40 or 50 years some of the guys would open up.

I had a friend with a new puppy and an old cat, so the dog learned how to fight like a cat. Try to get all four sets of claws on the target.

If you think that's funny..... it was a dachshund.

Supposedly a dachshund mix, but it was wiener-dog-shaped.

Bacon, if you're doing it right. Mom had this cast aluminum griddle that fit over the large middle burner of the stove. Had a corner pocket that collected the rendered bacon fat. Spoon that over the eggs as they cooked. Had I known that this wonderful kitchen technology was about to be lost to the ages, I would have liberated that great, gas-fired beast from our New Jersey kitchen and brought it to California with me...

I collect all of our bacon fat and use different fats at different times.

I was shocked to see bacon fat being sold for $8 in the grocery store next to the Crisco and such, and then I realized that was the only natural step for modern society. Imagine wealthy people buying bacon and bacon fat during the same visit. I mean, you don't want to use that used bacon fat. Yuck.
