Clubs will eliminate checkout lanes. Instead, everything will move to a scan-and-go model. Shoppers will use the Sam’s Club app on their smartphone to select their purchases while they shop. Then they will pass through a scanner as they exit the store, which will confirm their purchases.

The store plans to have several staff members on hand to help guide shoppers through the process.

This is gong to be a complete sh*t show in New Mexico. The Real ID transition nearly caused an insurrection to break out with numerous stories justifying why New Mexican's are incapable of coming up with proper ID. Trying to get them to push a grocery cart, shop and run a check out app at the same time; oh my. Just, oh my. Sam's Club is going to need a second building so they can process all the fubar checkouts.

Bernard Cornwell has some decent historical fiction. Researched in detail. Love the Richard Sharpe books. Sean Bean was perfectly cast in the title role for the Brit series.

clearing credit card transactions has an overhead charge, it is pretty much a question of who is going to pay it.
Staff, bookkeeping, having assets to cover eventualities, all of this costs extra. Industry standard is supposed to be around 3% they make their money on interest charges and late fees.

I used to tell customers that if they didn't like the charge they could mail the check, and we would wait a couple of days on their promise.

I called it, quickly the mgr came, within 5 minutes she was back with a perfectly clear photo of me handing the cashier a 20.

Got a bunch of meds here, and pretty hardy scratch wounds on my hands and leg from trying to get him to take them.

But right behind me as I type, he is munching away at his food.

64 I forgot to add this in for the garden thread, I do a form of bokashi composting - that is I put bunches of weeds, dirt and water in a 55 gallon barrel and let it ferment all summer and over winter.

I think it is not so much that it fertilizes as much as the plants grow as fast as they can to get away from the stink

There's never been a need since no woman is the physical equal of a man. Women can't really be thugs, so there's never been the development of that association. Skank, whore, etc. have been the normal catch alls for the demographic, but I'd suggest that, even with a skank ho attempting to engage in thuggish behavior, she still can't be a thug.

With an actual thug he's protected from the consequences of his actions by his ability to physically overpower/hurt another male. With a female the only thing protecting her is the other male's decency.

You know, I really enjoy talking to cashiers, at various establishments. Lots of places, these folks are not the winners in this life, and I like being able to treat them like human beings. I don't know what difference it makes for them, but I hope it gives them some amount of pleasure, having someone be kind and decent.

Can't do that with a beeping machine.

I've done that before, but since one of his problems has been not eating, that's not going to work. One of the meds he's on is the antibiotic, to clear up his stuffed nose. If he can't smell, he won't eat.

That was the pill that got me bloodied this morning. Literally took about half a dozen tries before he stopped spitting it out, after I thought it was down.

163 Our furry feline dominatrix has to have thyroid medication morning and evening. We use a form of that we can rub in her ears. We'd tried pills, and if we had to continue with pills rather than the ear method, I'd have evicted the cat (and then the incredibly nifty Mrs Some Guy would have evicted me) eons ago.

The cat's not thrilled with the ear routine either, but she doesn't try to disembowel me with the back claws during the process. If you have the option, check it out.

Related, lots of people are starting to notice that our pets lived longer back when we MAYBE got them a rabies shot but absolutely didn't take them to the vet four times a year.

Oh, there are TONS of women who see no problem with pretending that they're tough and threatening men. And, if they were honest, they'd know that the only thing protecting them is the men's decency and society itself, because the moment the man responds then he would be the bad guy.

Men know that words have consequences. In any conversation between two males, the men know that a line is there and if it's crossed it's a threat and physical violence can follow. Women don't understand that and routinely cosplay what they see as "tough" or "strong and empowered".

Those words from a man? A fight. From a woman? The man has to walk away or he goes to jail. Win / win for the woman, and an opportunity to learn nothing except continue

Oh no, I'm implicating myself. I resisted taking him to the vet for a couple days, even though something was clearly off.

This is a bigger issue for me, not worth going into now, but the thought of him dying on the floor, in a corner somewhere, or even taking him to the vet and them saying "if you'd brought him in sooner...."

So take my money. Even though I think a simple solution of an antibiotic, and maybe something to stimulate his appetite would have been plenty.

Forty bucks for the visit, and 20-40 for the meds. Instead the bill is 100 times that much

Granted, she may be an anomaly. But our other kitties lived to be 20 and 17. I think the difference is that they were *never* outdoor cats.

He was practically comatose and I was seriously considering euthanasia. He is doing much better now. Suspected diagnosis, autoimmune disease. I'm very happy to have him back.

I've never had longevity with cats. Oldest I had got to 14. Others died quite a bit younger than that, for one reason or another.

They've never been outdoor cats. I do think there COULD be some connection between me getting the clot shot in 2020, and my cats coming down with "colds" shortly thereafter. Two of the four I had at the time are dead. This sick guy is one of the two survivors. He's about 8.

Perhaps warming the food, to enhance its aroma, would help?

I had to nurse a sick kitty (punctured eyeball from being attacked by another cat) and she didn't eat for several days. Hid in the hallway closet. Wouldn't come out even for TUNA (her fave!). I think the action of chewing was painful for her.

Anyway, I bought some dry baby cereal & prepared it for her. She licked it right up! It was warm and didn't require chewing.

Later, I mashed up some canned tuna & added a bit of warm water to it... again, she licked it up.

Good luck & hope kitty gets well!

Anyhow, if I get an uncooperative cat I will grind a pill up, mix it with some of the goo, and smear it on her chest. The cat will run off to sulk and lick the fur clean.

208 My littlest cat, Abbie the Tabbiie, had a bladder infection. So I took her to vet for whatever treatment seemed right. The vet, a woman I did not know (the vet clinic had been sold upon retirement by my old vet who I knew and trusted) said she was passing kidney stones and needed bladder surgery. Something didn’t seem right, and I refused the surgery. They brought in a male vet who tried to pressure me into going along with it. I pointed out that it was my right to oversee my cat’s care - that I could even have her - Abbie - put down if I thought it best. I wouldn’t do that, but I was arguing a point. I got Abbie home away from their so-caring ministrations and got her to drink some diluted apple cider vinegar in water (she didn’t like it, but she drank it). I also put out a second litter pan - she was sharing with another cat - and lo and behold she got over the UTI and hasn’t got one since! Later I brought a sick old stray I had adopted to that clinic and saw the same vet - they’re on some sort of rotation. She offered to put the cat down. I declined and left. (To be cont.)
