  • TSMC is planning to produce 30% of its 2nm and newer chips in its US fabs. (Tom's Hardware)

Currently US production is only at 4nm, with 3nm only active in Taiwan and 2nm still ramping up. The new plans will boost output at the company's Fab21 site in Arizona and bring to it the newer N3, N2, and the 1.6nm A16 lines.

N3 equipment is being installed right now, and construction of new buildings for N2 and A16 is set to begin next year.

SCIENTISTS HACK HUMAN RETINA, REVEAL BRAND NEW COLOR ‘OLO’

Using a precise technique called Oz, Berkeley researchers isolated the retina’s M cones, forcing five volunteers to see a hue named ‘olo’, a blue‑green no earthly scene can match.

By mapping every photoreceptor and hitting only chosen cells with micro‑doses of light, the team bent biology’s rules without surgery.

“The ultimate goal is programmable control over every photoreceptor in the retina.”

Oz could someday simulate vision for the color‑blind and model diseases with accuracy.

Let's demand he explain exactly what "legal issues" he and Norm Eisen had to discuss in private in a secure diplomatic facility in the Czech Republic.

Let's investigate his behind-the-scenes collaboration with prominent Trump-haters like James Boasberg, Beryl Howell, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Mary McCord, Cass Sunstein, et. al.

But here, it was all happening against the insistent drumbeats of budget cuts at actual NASA, while the other rocket entrepreneur, Elon Musk, rearranged the agency to benefit himself.

That’s one whiplash-inducing segue, I’ll give Liz that much.

All it took was ‘But here,” and she’s off to blasting Elon and the entire idea of private space travel.

Apple makes that same keyboard with a number pad on the right.
That’s as full-size as it gets with Apple.

You can buy any Bluetooth keyboard, or one with a cord or USB dongle, and it’ll work with Macs.

I have one from Logitech that works with PC and Mac (has the Apple marked keys and Windows marked).

With Bluetooth and the magic of Logitech’s software I can switch between the two computers with one mouse and keyboard since they are sitting next to each other on the desk.

The little white one with the charging port…. on the bottom.

I like those, too.
The touch feature is great!
But the ergonomics will kill your wrist if you use it for long periods.

I had to change my mouse gripping style to a claw grip to use the thing for years.

Now when I use the regular size egg-shaped mouse I’m still claw-gripping it,

Old habits are hard to break.

Apple is supposedly changing the design of the Magic Mouse soon, though they’ll probably leave the charging port… on the bottom.

Been using it for almost 8 years now.
And I’m guessing, but I’d say I have to charge it once a month and a half to two months, depending on use.

129 Update on my wife.

She had a quiet night, and is getting better from the events of yesterday.

She was much improved, complaining about her situation to me, like why can't I sit up?, which is a sign of normality. The medical team was going to remove a blood pressure support pump this weekend, then she could safely sit up.

Got her Sudoku from the car, and let her rest before dinner. Small portions of some nice food like salmon. Worked on my story from a chair in the corner of the room.

Then alarms went off. Her heart went into afib. People streamed into the room, working to get her heart back. The crash cart showed up, and shock paddles were placed. Stay with us [Mrs Salty] was the chant. 12 people, including her high-powered doctors, in the room. Clear. Shock. Her body jumped.

Heart back in rhythm, but now more time needed for stabilization.

If you go up to the top right of the Menu bar on the Mac and click on the Bluetooth symbol it will show you how much charge you have left in the mouse and keyboard.

When it gets down to 10% charge it will turn the readout red to warn you.

It’s been awhile since I’ve let it happen, but I think MacOS will throw a warning dialing box on the screen when your peripherals get to 5% charge.

We were having a discussion about this in meatspace not too long ago.

Until the 2000s / 2010s or so people understood (and had been taught ?) that they could meet a mate, an opportunity for advancement, etc each time

Something about the internet and the idea that all of an individuals important aspects of life exist primarily online broke a lot of our brains. Normal people going outside to do business in pajamas is a great example, and you can see it constantly.

I'll take that bet. Congress wants no part of this - like they want no part of anything else. We are here, in no small part, because the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial are a three-legged stool. Except the Legislative just wants to do hookers and blow all day rather than take an actual stance on anything.

This is the Executive against the Judicial. Congress will sit this one out, one way or another.
