Your Easter parade displays need work, guys.

"Angels" singing prayers in Italy (IG). A little awkward, but cute-ish.

Cows are excited to be allowed outdoors for the first time since winter.

You had my interest, now you have my attention.
Katy Perry is going to claim this stunt in the name of the Divine Feminine. (IG)

Seajackers. (IG)

The staircase to the top of Yellowstone Falls (IG).

Blind cat finally finds the toy he's hunting.

One of the rarest creatures on Earth -- a Star Wars fan who's under 50.

Five year old girl leads her dog through an agility course. I don't think the dog listens to her much.

Dog is so happy her human has landed.

When you're not home, your cat is doing crimes.

Out of control.

Good to know: The Easter Bunny is not a pagan invention. It traces back to German customs in the 17th century. Well after Germany was Christianized, of course.

Low anxiety:

I think one of the best things about having grandkids is that you really get to see the world through the eyes of a child again. It's hard to do as a parent, with so much stress, the job, bills, etc. going on.

But once you're settled, they just amaze and crack me up constantly. My other kids also enjoy their pronouncements and of course the way they imitate their mother.

Last week Palm Sunday was a bit of a chore, but also adorable. Today I had to explain that we have to cut back on treats because Our Lord sacrificed himself on this day. They looked very solemn and sad but then cheered up because Easter is almost here and He Is Risen!

62 I read somewhere that a group of Muslims was suing Spain (in an EU court, no doubt) to force the country to ban its traditional Christian processions. You see, they're "an offense to Muslims", and to their draggle-ass prophet.

The monarchs of Spain were, for centuries, referred to as "their most Catholic majesties" - a title awarded by the Pope. The title is no longer used officially, but neither has it been renounced. So, this is just another attempt by a pushy group of Musselmen at cultural conquest, using the west's own legal system against it. Sadly, I would not be surprised to see it succeed.

69 I grew up right outside a Strategic Air Command Base, where they did B-52 training...

Touch and goes (where a plane lands then takes off again) were pretty constant...

So.... we'd sit outside the base at the end of the runway, and brink beer when I was in High School... and there was a dead end 2 mile road right outside the fence, that they kept in really good condition for security reasons... that was the Local drag strip.

50 years later, base closed, and that local drag strip now ends in a Federal Prison.

At first the grandkids were taking, moving around, so I paused my prayers and told them very sternly that they can go somewhere else or be quiet and sit still. They drifted away but came back a few minutes later and for the most part, quietly watched and listened to Grandpa pray. I think they found it calming.

I suspect if we could honestly examine and discuss it we'd learn there's a developmental halt at the time they are most attractive, and it's a pursuit to prove to themselves that they still have that same demographic appeal.

When in reality men of all ages work off of the "half a chance and an open hole" principle, so any "success" an attractive (or unattractive) woman has in securing sex is mostly meaningless.

121 "Good to know: The Easter Bunny is not a pagan invention. It traces back to German customs in the 17th century. Well after Germany was Christianized, of course."

Well, the Easter Bunny is "pagan" in that it has nothing to do with Christianity. "Easter" is only in the KJV once and it is wrongly interpreted from the word pascha which means passover.

And yes, the spring time symbolism of rabbits (for reproduction) does mean Easter Bunny relates those two "mythologies", and this guy is trying too hard to deny that the Easter Bunny is non-Christian, regardless of when bunnies were introduced.

yeah, the Christmas Tree is another "pagan" tradition related to .. whatever. It was about the shortest day of the year, around December 22. Celebrating the solar (Sun God?) cycles was a pagan tradition.

It is known Jesus was born in the fall (studies of the stars I saw say 9/11 3BC, but have lost touch with those studies) ... certainly not at Dec 22. Most old tradition that defies Christianity is hence "pagan". Some of the roots are more directly tied to "paganism" than others.

and interesting the Jesus was raised after 3 days and 3 nights (like Jonah in the whale) ... legally dead. And he was thence raised Saturday (the Sabbath) at sunset. Not Sunday morning, when they found he was already gone from the tomb.

Jews can confirm that their Sabbath is "Saturday", which begins at sunset Friday, and ends at sunset Saturday.

Ēostre ([ˈeːostre])[1][2][3] is an Anglo-Saxon goddess mentioned by Bede in his 8th century work The Reckoning of Time. He wrote that pagan Anglo-Saxons had held feasts in her honour during the month named after her: Ēosturmōnaþ (April), and that this became the English name for the Paschal season: Easter.
This is why the feast of Our Lord’s resurrection is only called Easter in the Anglosphere.

184 Decades ago, on the CompuServe Religion Forum, there was a fellow who insisted that Jesus was not crucified upon a cross, but rather on a "T." This was an important must-believe for some reason.

I was surprised to read in last night's ONT comments that the upright was not a post but rather a tree, indeed that all three, Jesus and the two thieves, were all nailed to the same fig tree. That was a new one to me.

I haven't had enough reason to believe other than that the Romans used an upright post. That plank that Pilate wrote on was nailed up above the cross-post. When the Romans got down to it, crosses littered the landscape, and the condemned were exposed to the sun, not the shade of some tree.
____

Ann Barnhardt had a good post describing just how excruciating Crucifixion was. I knew most of these details, but learned a few ways in which it was even worse than I knew.

Since the day He rose, there have been those who claimed Jesus didn't really die on the cross. But,

191 Traveling around the British Isles for a college Geology class field trip encountered something similar (if not worse) re: airports - on the Isle of Mann. Our van stopped at the beginning of a long stretch of roadway at a red light with no visible intersection or reason for it. Just a fence to the left of the road. Minute later saw a sizable airliner skim over the road and the fence on its way to land.

No sh@t it was a traffic light to enforce giving low flying airliners the Right of Way.

My friend sent me a video of Snowflake on the leash. She's an outdoor cat that comes in everyday for about 6 hours. The leash did not go over well.

Not at all.
