Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Quick HitsCNN reports the IRS is preparing to rescind Harvard's tax-exempt status: The Internal Revenue Service is making plans to rescind the tax-exempt status of Harvard University, according to two sources familiar with the matter, which would be an extraordinary step of retaliation as the Trump administration seeks to turn up pressure on the university that has defied its demands to change its hiring and other practices. A final decision on rescinding the university's tax exemption is expected soon, the sources said.Via Ed Morrissey, who notes the Supreme Court voted 8-1 to uphold the stripping of tax-exempt status from Bob Jones University for failing to act in "the public interest" (there, alleged discrimination against non-whites). Surprise! The leftwing socialist BLM supporter who fire-bombed the residence of the Jewish governor of PA -- not that you'd know that from the media -- turns out to have acted as a terrorist to support the Palestinians. ABC "News:" The suspected arsonist who allegedly tried to kill Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro decided to firebomb his official residence because of "what he wants to do to the Palestinian people," according to a search warrant signed by Pennsylvania State Police. Investigators obtained several warrants as part of the investigation into the early Sunday morning arson attack, including for suspect Cody Balmer's storage unit, electronic devices and parents' home, where he told a Dauphin County judge he had recently been living. Balmer, 38, targeted Shapiro "based upon perceived injustices to the people of Palestine," one of the warrants said, law enforcement sources told ABC News. That'll give the New York Times another chance to hide highly-relevant information. The FBI agent arrested for attempting to take top secret information overseas -- and who tried to frame Giuliani as a Russian agent -- is being defended by Hunter Biden's law firm. An arrested FBI agent who had publicly alleged Trump ally Rudy Giuliani may have been compromised by Russia and who had denied the FBI had mishandled its investigation of Hunter Biden is now represented by a law firm that defended Joe Biden's son. The agent, Jonathan Buma, who had handled confidential human sources (CHSs) for the bureau and whose home had been raided by the FBI back in 2023, was arrested at JFK Airport in New York City in March for the alleged illegal disclosure of confidential information. He is being prosecuted in California, where he was based as an FBI agent. Buma, whose previous claims to Congress and the media alleged that he was involved with helping special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into debunked claims of Trump-Russia collusion and who has repeatedly taken aim at Giuliani while defending the bureau's slow walking of the Hunter Biden investigation, is now being defended by a high-profile law firm that defended Joe Biden's son and attacked the federal investigation into him, Just the News has learned. Serpentine spinner James Carville tells the progressive wing to leave the Democrat Party.
We need to purge the military of the progressive quislings. There is a cancer in America's military ranks, and it must be expunged before it's too late. That cancer lies in uniformed service members' widespread rejection of the uniquely American concept of civilian control of the military and disregard for the absolute necessity that America's military officers remain apolitical in the face of the constitutional will of the electorate. Recent events reveal this cancer, and they include the relief for cause of Navy Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield after she reportedly refused to hang photos of President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on her headquarters' customary "Chain of Command" board and reportedly told her subordinates in a town hall that she would "wait [the Trump administration] out" the next four years. They also include the relief for cause of Col. Sussanah Meyers, commander of the U.S. Space Force's base in Greenland, after she openly questioned (to all of her subordinates via email) Vice President J.D. Vance's official pronouncements regarding the United States, Greenland, and Denmark. Since Trump's inauguration, numerous other senior generals and admirals have been relieved by President Trump for various publicly unspecified reasons, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force Gen. Charles "CQ" Brown; Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti; Adm. Linda Lee Fagan, the commandant of the Coast Guard; and Air Force Gen. Timothy D. Haugh, director of the National Security Agency and commander of U.S. Cyber Command. Each of these four-star firings is publicly shrouded in a certain degree of mystery, but rumors abound that so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) played a part in one way or another. ... Since Trump's inauguration, I have been flooded with reports of insubordination in the ranks toward Trump and Hegseth. Those reports range from fairly senior officers in the Pentagon showing open disrespect around the E-Ring coffee maker, all the way down to junior enlisted disrespecting their president and secretary of defense in the ship's galley or the chow hall. The only thing they could sue for is the argument that whatever the fuck they're doing - I don't care enough to follow the story - is in the public interest. No doubt a judge will rule in their favor which would bring both the university and the judiciary into further ill repute. Granted the inevitable lawsuit will take decades to work it's way through the courts, but if they lose their tax exempt status then tax laws are very clear on what happens to them and their tax free *savings* account. Posted by: Mister Scott (Formerly GWS) at April 16, 2025 06:19 PM (e5NfL) 14

Thomas Steven Sanders was put on death row back in September of 2014 for the 2010 kidnapping and murder of 12-year-old Lexis Roberts of Las Vegas. Following a four-year trial, Sanders was sentenced to death by a jury at Alexandria’s Federal Courthouse. Sanders admitted to kidnapping and then killing Roberts in Catahoula Parish near Harrisonburg after murdering her mother in Arizona.
On April 16, 2025, the Catahoula Parish Grand Jury indicted Sanders for first-degree murder of Lexis. Burget said the District Attorney’s Office will seek the death penalty for Sanders and that Biden’s action to commute the federal death penalty will have no effect on his State prosecution. According to Burget, Lexis lived with her mother, Suellen, in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the Labor Day weekend in 2010, the mother and daughter accompanied Sanders to the Grand Canyon in Arizona for a vacation. Upon their return to Las Vegas, Burget said Sanders shot and killed Suellen, then took Lexis to Catahoula Parish, where he shot her multiple times and used a knife on her. This New Shepard vehicle is nothing but a space tourist joyride thing. It's the equivalent of an amusement park thrill-ride for billionaires. That's all. I went over the profile and trajectory of this silly thing. It's basically straight up and straight down. The capsule comes down about ~2 miles from the launch pad. The booster is also reusable and comes down itself a few miles from the pad. It makes it about ~2 miles above the Karman line, ~60 miles altitude, the technical boundary of "space". The whole thing is designed for nothing but tourism thrill-rides, allowing passengers like these bimbos to manage it, getting maybe 2-3 minutes of zero g, without needed any real training or physical prowess. Re-entry, if you can call it that isn't that much either. They launch straight up, and the booster separates around apogee, allowing the capsule to fall back down, vertically. There's a brief 5.5g peak deceleration as it hits the thicker atmosphere at maybe 1-2 km/s vertical speed. It quickly slows down. Heat loads on the thing aren't all that bad. I got to wondering if there's any real reason Bezos' rocket had to look so phallic, so dildo-like. The only thing really is, well, they wanted the capsule to be roomy, to give the tourists a lot of room and windows, which required a wide base. But, the booster didn't need to be that wide. But still, nope, they could've put some sort of fairing or something to kill the dildo look, and it had to be on purpose. Cut all research funding from the feds except maybe to the national labs but cut that back a lot too. My final post doc was with the Naval Research Laboratory, and one day we were called into an “all hands” meeting. At that meeting we were told, point blank, not to discuss a certain proposal. The proposal was this: if you want to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere all you need to do was seed the ocean with powdered rust. The resulting algae bloom would suck enormous amounts of CO2 out of the air. (To be cont.)

I read about a biomed case where a peer review of a woman's paper was given to his own post-doc and the reviewer kicked back her paper for revision so his guy could 'catch up'. The post-doc plagiarized her paper and when she complained, her adviser and his both pushed her off for years. When finally someone investigated, the guy cracked and admitted it all. he had no data at all.
The woman had left the field a long time before, of course. Posted by: Oldcat at April 16, 2025 06:52 PM (n7h9X) _____________ They should have nailed the Principal Investigator for several reasons. First, giving the paper to a postdoc to review. I used to do that, but after I'd already submitted my review to the journal. I did it because such reviewing is an essential aspect of training a future scientist. I never let a postdoc or grad student review a paper that was close to his own research, for just the above reason. Second, not catching that the postdoc's "work" so closely tracked the paper he'd nominally reviewed. Where the hell was his PI? Third, the way to handle is to submit the entire matter to the editor of the journal, and include both papers. Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at April 16, 2025 07:00 PM (YqDXo) 175

Alan Shepard pull 6g's during ascent, and a whopping 11g during re-entry. This required the Right Stuff indeed. His peak altitude was about 110 miles, and he splashed down about 300 miles downrange. It is a very bad idea to remove CO2 from the air, the plants are almost starved for it. But the idea would have worked. But we were told we could lose our positions for discussing it. Why? Because somebody higher up didn’t want a solution. Because they realized removing CO2 was a bad idea? I don’t think so. I think the motivation they didn’t want a proposal that might really work. THEY WANTED THE PROBLEM. Nowadays you can’t get ant funding for research that might discredit gerbil worming, just like you couldn’t get a job in a geology department prior to 1960, if you believed in “continental drift”. Post 1970 you couldn’t get a position in geology unless you fully supported plate tectonics - continental drift with elaborations. (To be cont.)

Good news from the UK for a change:
The TERFS of For Women Scotland seem to have started dismantling the Gender Recognition Act and Equality Act protected characteristic of gender reassignment via the back door with the Supreme Court judgment today. Solidarity with any trans people in the UK rn. @owenjonesjourno The biggest net result of today’s Supreme Court ruling is that trans people will be more scared and their lives more difficult. It’s up to those who stand by trans people to make sure their lives are as easy, comfortable and safe as possible under any legal reality. @owenjonesjourno In countries like Spain and Ireland, trans rights and women’s rights rose together. In countries like the US and Hungary, trans rights and women’s rights have reversed together. If they’re in contradiction, why are these rights rising or falling together? Colombia and Argentina are also good examples of feminists and trans rights activists working together to get their rights. For example, abortion was legalized using the words "women" and "other people who can get pregnant" to include trans men and non-binary people AFAB. Posted by: Deplorable Jay Guevara at April 16, 2025 07:00 PM (YqDXo) I believe he did get chastised, and blamed the student for the most part. I have a hard time buying that because when the woman brought it up neither her bosses or this guy bothered to look into it for a long time. Everyone involved in the investigation was dismissive of the charges right until it blew up in their face. I am very worried about STEM due to the persistence of many theories I saw in Physics proposed for stupid reasons get disproved, then tweaked so they can't be tested..for a while. The overall lack of progress over the last generation in theory and practice over the last generation says a lot to me. Posted by: Oldcat at April 16, 2025 07:14 PM (n7h9X) 229

What is the basis for the flood of 'wrongfully deported' descriptors for the spark of humanity that got sent home? Did I read that it was some intentional error made by an embedded bureaucrat? Posted by: 2009Refugee at April 16, 2025 07:05 PM (Amt00) After 2 Judges said he was part of a gang, and gave deportation orders, his lawyer opened another case where he claimed asylum because he was afraid that another gang would target him. These astronauts can suck it on their mucho expensive little jaunt. I have been to space for far less money and still had a B+ GPA. Basically and to sum: I was already an astronaut before Gail Lesbo King and Perry, the devil worshipper. And Bezo's injection lipped, fake boobed fiancee. I don't know or care who the others were. Apparently no one else does, either, based on the amount of giving a shite. At some point Bezo's faceplanted trying to open the "hatch" to what appeared to be a dome tent. Posted by: NemoMeImpuneLacessit at April 16, 2025 07:29 PM (ZVgZ4) Byng kinda got a raw deal. Years before his execution, some high admiral fought a battle and won. He was so proud he developed a rulebook "Fighting instructions" that everyone had to use. Basically you lined up 1 on 1, and shot each other to bits and if you had extra ships they waited your turn. Wins dropped accordingly. Now if the enemy ran, you could call for a General Chase and do what you wanted. So the good admirals tried to get this situation going for their big battle wins in the era. Anyhow Byng was attacking Majorca (or Minorca) and lost his Fighting Instructions battle and was shot. And the instructions weren't officially dropped enforcement was lacking and the big admirals did what they wanted. Posted by: Oldcat at April 16, 2025 07:37 PM (n7h9X) 296

Apology if someone already answered this:
"A favor to ask - "What is the basis for the flood of 'wrongfully deported' descriptors for the spark of humanity that got sent home? "Did I read that it was some intentional error made by an embedded bureaucrat?" According to WH advisor Stephen Miller, the guy had been found by two courts that he was indeed a member of the gang designated a foreign terrorist organization and was indeed deportable, but a "withhold" order was also issued due to supposed threats to his life from rival gangs he'd refused to join back in good old El Salvador. He could be deported to any other country, but he was deportable from the US and could not remain. The "oopsie" was sending him to his home country instead of some other shithole like Guatemala or someplace. But as it is a done deal, it's beyond US courts' jurisdiction, and El Salvador's president said at the WH he had no power to send one of his citizens into the USD in any case.
