8 Good morning late shift.

Before anyone goes pedantic I realize that the greeting should be to the Graveyard Shift, at least in my time zone. You East Coasters might meet the general idea of an early shift. And of course for our European and eastern Mediterranean Morons it’s midday. Pixy starts this in his early evening and is I hope smart enough to head straight to a cocktail or whatever a Pixy Mia’s indulges in after a long day.

Took a route back on the old roads and deliberately avoided the Interstate. It was a gorgeous drive with magnificent scenery and very few cars on the road.

A rather chilly 41 degrees out this morning. But it should jump up into the 70's soon, to give us a nice pleasant day.

37 Evening and morning to all the Sunday insomaniacals and toilers!

I read Lex's essay about "clever vs. good" in cinema storytelling, and I definitely see what he means. I'll bring this up during the Book Thread in regard to books, but I think the "dramatic purpose" is pretty much the old adage "The main character learns something and changes because of it." Maybe I'm way off. But Lex's examples of dramatic purpose sure sound like that.

Anyway! Coffee now, have to feed the cats, and I want to work out before heading off to the grocery. Howz about you?

This is my second video. The song is something that my roommate got the rest of my housemates addicted to, and just somehow fit with Cowboy Bebop. Using a relatively unknown band, I think this video surprised lot of people, as well as showed off a much lighter side of Bebop than they were used to. For this video, I used a DVD source, which I reencoded into mjpeg before doing the editing with Premiere. The video quality is reasonable, but could be better using more modern techniques that would involve much less quality loss in the encoding. This took me 4 straight days of nothing but eating, sleeping and editing to produce this final result.

A common misconception is that I make anime music videos. In reality, I do nothing by take raw anime footage and sort it randomly until I get a pleasing result. I got my start in making amvs when I was watching the Otakon 1999 anime music video contest, and commented to my friend who was sitting next to me, 'Wouldn't it be really cool to get a tape of the contest?" The guy who was sitting next to us said to me, "I'm getting a tape of the contest, but I submitted an entry." Thus I began to work on such creations.

57 $1650 for a laptop with an 11” screen and without a dGPU? 64gb and 2tb isn’t cheap but I guarantee you people who buy that would rather have a RTX 4060 instead.

59 And I like the way the company decided to show that laptop with Adobe Premiere on the screen.

While it could do it with those specs, nobody in their right mind wants to edit video in Premiere on an 11” screen.

At full scaling with a 1600p screen you’d be squinting ttrying to read the text… either that or you’d have to hold the screen six inches from your face the entire time.

87 38. Your prediction is probably right. I have no idea what James‘s deal is, I’ve been a supporter, but he stands likely no chance of beating Duggar or frankly, any of the other candidates for governor of Michigan. It will be a loss of another house seat unless the Republicans in Michigan can find a replacement for him. There’s already been a Democrat declare to run in his district. He’s either going to be in the house voting or he’s going to miss votes in the house to campaign in Michigan. He apparently doesn’t like being a representative and is looking for some higher profile political office.

93 In other good news, colleges have begun firing college football players over demands for raises.

Tennessee showed their middling QB the door after he decided $2M for being average at best wasn't good enough and demanding $8M

Hopefully this will catch on. Want to be paid like coaches? Well guess what's included, dummies.

------------
Her presidential aspirations took a hit with this stunt. Not just the idiocy of trying to hide behind some binders, but by being seen in the Oval Office, commiserating with Orange Hitler. Her rabid base can't be too happy with her right now.

Also of note; the other possible Democrat contender for the presidency, Gavin Newsom has seen his stock fall after the horrific response to the LA wildfires and the dressing down he got from Trump. Several times. Forcing Newsom to meet with Trump and agree (in principle) to his terms for getting aid.

So, two of the arguably strongest Dem contenders for the White House in 2028 have been politically neutered, at least for now.

Blackmail? That's pretty much the definition of politics.

Probably increase. As I am of Eastern European descent, 2nd generation American, I usually put together a traditional Eastern (Hungarian/Slovak) dinner, smoked ham, Hungarian kolbasz, beets with horseradish and the traditional Easter "cheese". The cheese recipe calls for a dozen eggs and a quart of milk alone, and is a lot of work to prepare. This year I may forgo that item. May just pick up the ham. the kolbasz and the Polish rye from the Polish meat market and get a half dozen eggs to dye for Easter. It would be the first time in nearly 50 years that I wouldn't be making the Easter Cheese. Somehow we'll survive. My Irish wife (52 years!!) doesn't eat the stuff anyway. Maybe I'll just get a Krakus Polish ham for her.
