The Morning Report — 4/ 10 /25

Poohtariff.jpg

Good morning kids. As you can see from the links in the Politics section and in going over the past weeks even as far back as when President Trump was sworn in, it certainly looks as if the volume and frequency of toxic waste gushing forth from the open sewer that is Jasmine Crockett probably would provide fodder fo revery day for weeks on end. But as CBD and I noted on the latest episode of the podcast linked here and in the sidebar, why bother?

Disgusting as she is, the more that average Americans see and hear what she has to say, along with the garden variety, liars, racists, deviants and criminals that comprise the Democrat Party, the more they will at a minimum dig their own political graves at least in the near term for the '26 midterms. Naturally, election thievery on their part notwithstanding, as I am convinced happened last week in the special election that restored a radical leftist majority to the Wisconsin state supreme court. And of course going back to 2020. But that's crazy conspiracy talk, never mind the circumstantial and actual physical evidence and eyewitness accounts that at the barest of bare minimums should cast serious doubt on the legitimacy of the outcomes.

But again, as with Crockett, I'm repeating a sad old story that unless something changes at the state and national levels will also repeat itself. It is heartening to see that some actions are being seriously attempted legislatively to at least try to prevent non-citizens from voting,

The Republican-led House is slated to hold another vote on the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote.

As expected, the propaganda press and left-wing activists have resorted to spreading lies about the legislation to convince the American people that it should be opposed. But these lies are purposely designed to guilt Americans into sacrificing their right to free and fair elections. Here’s how to refute them.

It's going to be a constant battle to fight the massive law fare campaigns pre and post elections by such characters as Marc Elias and others. Beyond that, the insanity of mail-in ballots that was forced down our throats courtesy of the fakedemic lockdowns and other voter integrity laws that were dismantled at that time especially in the key swing states and districts along with motor voter and the necessity to clean up voter rolls every X years to insure students who reside in college towns only temporarily, dead people, those over the age of 150 and others are prevented from voting early and often.

Elsewhere, the continued reactions to the President's tariff regime is taking up the bulk of the headlines as the markets continue to fluctuate as they seek some sort of equilibrium. On the positive front, more nations are now ready to make deals to drop their barriers and tariffs in return for us to do the same, and with all of that, this happened:

U.S. markets surged late Wednesday following an announcement by President Donald J. Trump that he would ease tariff measures against most of America’s trading partners as the White House begins bilateral negotiations with around 75 countries—except for China, which saw tariff rates on its goods increase to 125 percent. The Dow Jones closed at 40,608.45, a gain of 2,962.86 points on the day—the single largest daily point gain in history. Meanwhile, the S&P 500, which saw significant volatility over the past week, saw nearly a 10 percent gain, closing at 5,456.90.An estimated 30 billion shares were traded on Wednesday, marking the heaviest—by volume—trading day in Wall Street’s history. The surge in trading almost entirely came after President Trump posted on Truth Social that he would pause his reciprocal tariffs—although not sector-specific tariffs on products such as steel—on all foreign nations, except China, with only the 10 percent global tariff remaining in effect while his White House begins negotiations with a number of countries on a new, more equitable trade system accounting for the interests of the United States.

Trump is hanging tough with the Chi-Coms as he should considering their goal is absolute global political domination. Their zeal is positively Islamic.

A $1.9 trillion “tsunami” is headed for American industry — and it’s coming from China.
The Communist country of 1.3 billion people has shifted that much cash into amping up its factories in just four years in an effort to overwhelm manufacturers around the world with an influx of cheap goods.
President Trump’s 125% tariff on all Chinese imports into the US — which he announced Wednesday as he paused steep duties on most other countries — is actually just the latest protective measure against China.
The European Union, Brazil, Mexico and Thailand have either imposed new tariffs in the last few months, or are considering such measures to protect their own industries from Chinese imports.
“The tsunami is coming for everyone,” said Katherine Tai, trade representative for former President Joe Biden, told The New York Times. Over the past four years, China has pulled money from funding housing construction and put it into building factories, with state-controlled banks granting industrial borrowers almost $2 trillion in extra financing, according to new data from China’s central bank, obtained by The Times.

China is building new factories nonstop and outfitting old ones with the latest tech, churning out products from cars to phones to fertilizer at an unprecedented rate — and all bound for foreign shores.
The Times reported that China is set to overtake Germany with the world’s largest car factory. Chinese carmaker BYD is building not one, but two plants that are bigger than the current record holder in Wolfsburg, Germany. . .

. . . Trump’s unprecedented tariff on Chinese goods could similarly shield the US from the coming wave.
Steep on cars, for example, have already stopped cheap Chinese EVs from decimating the American auto industry.
But it’s already too late for some local manufacturers. Chinese imports to Thailand have caused manufacturers in that country to plunge by 50%, ASEAN Briefing reported last year.

WEll, there's lots of blame to go around insofar as previous administrations and myriad self-imposed artificial factors that drove up the cost of doing business here made offshoring our manufacturing to China and elsewhere at the expense of the American worker an easy decision to make.

Tariffs alone won't address and solve this crisis, but it's a first step along with many others, like DOGE and immigration enforcement plus a reigniting of the AMerican entrepreneurial spirit and the notion of rugged individualism that has been slimed and stripped away from several generations of American youth courtesy of academia and the woke anti-American culture mongers.

Beyond that, there are some very disturbing stories in the crime section, among them a Texas woman force feeding her pregnant daughter abrtion pills, a "mass" shooting in Virginia, a crazy shootout in LA, as well as a rash of teen suicides linked to some sort of "extortion" racket coming out of Nigeria.

Plus, lots more from around the world, across the nation and up your street , for your consideration this morning,

11 Trump Issues 90 Day Tariff Pause Except on China

I don't believe this is an accurate headline. It requires careful reading of Trump's statement but the pause is only for countries who've asked to negotiate AND haven't taken retaliatory measures. Further, the "pause" still leave the baseline 10% tariff in place.

Interesting timing. I was hit by a USAA insured driver just at 2 months ago. It appears I'm gonna have to sue the driver to get USAA to make me a reasonable offer.

13 Furthermore, as Ben Bernanke, the former chairman of the Federal Reserve, taught us, at root, it wasn’t the Smoot-Hawley tariffs that sparked the Great Depression. It was a monstrous policy misstep on the part of the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee. On the eve of the Great Depression, the Fed raised rates and pursued a contractionary monetary policy when it should have cut rates and pursued an expansionary monetary policy.

M2 fell by at least 30% in the second year of the Great Depression.

Nations would be singing songs of praises if we threaten to cut off the moneys.

19 The Communist country of 1.3 billion people has shifted that much cash into amping up its factories in just four years in an effort to overwhelm manufacturers around the world with an influx of cheap goods.

This is what I’ve been saying.
Their real estate market crashed below ground and they’ve switched everything to manufacturing to keep their heads above water.

We are not the only ones pissed at China.

In Brazil, a few months back, authorities there discovered that a Chinese run BYD plant were basically using the Chinese employees working there as slave labor, just like they do back home in China.

Brazil’s relationship with slavery is just as bad as ours is, as they had, up until the 1880s, the largest African slave population on the planet, nearly 1.5 million at the peak.

That’s how China does things.
Build a facility somewhere in the world and fill it with Chinese employees working in the same conditions they do at home.

They don’t do it here because we won’t allow it.
So instead they just complain about having to hire lazy Americans who don’t have the urge to work 16 hour days for 6.5 days a week and then get two weeks off at Chinese New Year.

22 Thank you JJ

I’m not usually into “local crime” stories but I read that LA chase piece. Strange in at least two ways:
1. Crash on freeway leads to some random dude not involved in crash to chase some guy all over neighborhoods (and across lanes of a busy freeway). That is really some commitment from a casual bystander!
2. Weezer wife (I confess I’d never ever heard of Weezer) also apparently gets incidentally randomly involved when the foot chase enters her neighborhood… whereupon she walks outside and points a Glock at police! Who then shoot her… and now she’s booked for attempted murder. That’s just weird…

BTW, if you're honest with yourself you'll see pretty easily why this 49 year old woman did that to her 16 year old daughter.

(even though the daughter learned the "Imma be a proud Strong and Independent pregnant single mom just like my mom, yo" behavior from mom)

The mom had to kill the baby because that was HER money. Her retirement plans were on the line, and she couldn't risk her daughter not being able to work and provide a place to live and care for the mom when mom gets retirement age.

29 The "Great" Depression was just like all the other depressions and recessions and whatevers before it. The big difference was in 1929, Mass Media was in effect so the economic downturn could be broadcast all over the globe on the radio, in the newspapers and in the newsreels so they could get the Sheeple running from one end of the enclosure to the other in short order. Without the Mass Media, the "Great" Depression would most likely have ended in a few years like previous depressions and lots of folks would not have known the difference. I blame the commies.

Interesting. My own critical reading skills read "50 countries", and then "75 countries", and made me ask, "WHICH countries"? Depending on how you define "country", there are somewhere between 190 and 250 "countries". You could probably pick 75 countries who collectively amount to only a few percent of the global population and GDP.

Am I saying that these countries don't amount to anything? No. What I AM saying is that the information we're being given doesn't tell us much. We're pretty much in the dark, and being strung along.

Gonna be awfully hard to hear the cases of 10-15 million illegal aliens before Trump is out of office and a Democrat puts things right back where they were with no borders once again.

I personally don't believe due process should apply to anyone who barges into the country without using proper channels. They deserve nothing but being sent back to where they came from.

I think “totaled” and “salvage value” have become insurance scams. Within the last year we had a vehicle damaged in an accident… went and got a quote from a repair shop for $5000 (round numbers for purpose of relating the story). At first insurance said “go ahead and repair it’s covered”…. Then a few days later insurance reversed and said “oh no that’s more than it’s salvage value it’s totaled… we will not pay for repair”

Insurance subsequently cut us a check for $6000 and we had to relinquish the vehicle. Now… that doesn’t make sense! 6 > 5 last time I checked… but we couldn’t get our vehicle back. Had to buy a new car… for a LOT more than 6. It seemed like a scam. And this is a big reputable insurance company; national brand you’d recognize

No it won't. It can give them the illusion of political competition but as long as the city council only requires a majority and the Democrats continue to hold that majority you'll continue to get their style of governance. Turning big city councils into pseudo-parliaments won't affect anything beyond councils members caring even less about the issues of the districts they nominally represent.

48 My brother bought a slightly used 2024 Chevy truck last year for what he thought was a great deal. He even bought the extended “Bumper to Bumper” warranty because the man likes insurance for unexpected bills.

But he didn’t read the fine print.

Turns out GM has had some serious problems over the last several years with their ‘Entertainment Systems” going completely kaput over and over again. Everything goes out on them, especially the screens.

He works with a guy who has had to have the dealer replace his system three times in the last two years. They flat out told him they weren’t going to replace another one for free.

Why?
Because to buy one and install it will set you back $1500.

And the fine print in my brother’s warranty… doesn’t cover the radio/navigation/entertainment system.

He’s been pissed off for about two months now.
If I want to see him turn red, all I have to do is ask him if he replaced his radio yet.

It's certainly a good point, but let's not forget that that economic downturn was "combatted" by large scale SOCIALISM. Even though it went on and on for over decade, they STILL blamed it on Hoover, who had been out of office for almost all of it (and still do).

FDR had that great quote, "All we have to fear, is fear itself!" That would be inspiring, if he were talking about WWII. But that was before WWII, and he was trying to tell the public not to be afraid - that his Socialist policies would make everything OK eventually.

It's like that movie, "Wicked". It has this great, uplifting song about defying gravity, but when you see the movie you find out that it was about the Wicked Witch learning to fly her broomstick. Somehow people still like it anyway. Idiots!

58 Trump has just effectively endorsed Whitmer for the Dem nomination!. ‘She has done an excellent job…she is a very good person’ Is this some devious Machiavellian manouevre? If I were GH I would be suspecting the kiss of death.

We can't nominate a woman, probably ever again. Misogyny is the cornerstone of our society, it seems, racism is another, but women seem to be hated most of all. NOT by Dems, but by society at large, especially the evangelicals. Sadly, the first female POTUS will be a GOPer.

Oh For crying out loud! Stephen A. Smith Says He's Now Considering A 2028 Presidential Run. "I’ve been approached by people on Capitol Hill, governors, mayors and other elected officials who have legitimately and seriously asked me about running...

...I’m no longer going to close that door,” he said. “If it comes to late 2026 or 2027, and I look at this country and think it’s an absolute mess, and there’s legitimate reason to believe I have a shot to win the presidency, I am not going to rule it out.”

Isn't it bad enough he's made a mockery of sports journalism? no more unqualified celebrities. Period. Start with running for a local office.

Good thing the Supreme Court isn't intimately involved in foreign wars - having to get a judge's permission to kick down an insurgent's door, to shoot back at someone trying to kill you, to even stop and interrogate someone planting an IED.

The problem is, the Supreme Court is far too incompetent and disengaged from society that they can't interpret or process the reality around us and recognize that the foreign wars are now being fought within the former US's border.

88 Interesting. My own critical reading skills read "50 countries", and then "75 countries", and made me ask, "WHICH countries"? Depending on how you define "country", there are somewhere between 190 and 250 "countries". Am I saying that these countries don't amount to anything? No. What I AM saying is that the information we're being given doesn't tell us much. We're pretty much in the dark, and being strung along.

IIRC the judges going wild don't have jurisdiction over Trump to begin with. They are bending the law. SCOTUS doesn't seem interested in getting involved either.

IMO I'd start referring to all this as a judicial coup. It would certainly change the conversation among the legal community and perhaps give them pause about what that label entails.

If not... then start treating it like the coup it is.

I have to ask how we know this, although I don't doubt it for a minute.

Where can this possibly go? The US has said FU to the Ukes if they don't do what the US wants, and the Ukes only said FU back, right?

So the Ukes are cut off from the support they need to keep this going, the Euros are to cheap and self-centered to really do much - except to try to start WWIII (which Trump won't left them do).

With the Ukes refusing to negotiate (the regime understanding that they're out of power once it ends, and with their only hope being in starting WWIII), the only way this ends is with Russia going in and completely taking out the Ukrainian government.

Ironically, it was Antonin Scalia who argued that illegal aliens had a right to due process because the Constitution makes no distinction between citizens and non-citizens. But, large but, that does not mean that illegals have a right to be released into the US.

Their due process is really more of are they here legally and is there any evidence that they have committed crimes or other reasons they shouldn't be allowed to enter. It's a hinderance but MS-13 scum are not getting the kind of due process you or I would.

I think the bigger problem is Congress is way to slow to make more restrictive laws and the Constitution never considered we might "elect" and administration that would bend and twist the law to flood the country with millions of illegals on purpose. That whole moral and religious thing is proving to be an issue.

120 The Republican-led House does a lot of things that won't get past the Senate

That is why it is so much fun to mock that evil, corrupt retard Don Bacon (P-NE) who wants to strip GEOTUS of his power to exact tariffs and claim the tariff power for Congress alone.

Other than the fact that Congress is fully incapable of doing anything positive for We The People, the best they can get is massive levels of bribes and payoffs. If trade is worth trillions, what is a few billion laundered among our Babylon DC's elite?

Because nearly half the Congress is now populated with dedicated enemies of this Constitutional Republic, whose only goal is to destroy Western Civilization while enriching themselves and their cronies, we are going to have to have essentially a benevolent dictator in the executive.

The current basic Ukrainian regime came to power when they overthrew the previous one. If there were any non-government Ukrainians still alive and not in the process of being slaughtered for absolutely nothing, they could overthrow the current regime and save Russia the effort.

SCOTUS is a lot of things, but incompetent is not one of them. It's worth noting that the justices who seem the most unreliable are the ones who adopted foreign children, if I'm not mistaken. Regardless, it's been pretty clear since the ObamaCare decision that Roberts is compromised, and I suspect ACB is compromised as well.

With that being said, "due process" is vitally important. But how do we really need anything beyond requiring that the proposed deportees show up in a court with proof that they are either a US citizen, or have a valid green card? What other process is really necessary?

*******

God bless Dr. Haim for his courage and forthrightness. But I think it is important to keep in mind that he is looking at the after effects of the process that is so widely used in the U.S.

Now efforts need to focus on the widespread (among gender doctors and counselors of affirmation-first is doing great damage to children. By actively pushing social transitioning as the initial step for a prepubertal child who expresses confusion about gender, these activist doctors and psychologists and school officials and legislators are setting these children on a one-way path, a path to dysfunctional hormonal manipulation, disfiguring surgical horrors and a lifetime of psychiatric dysfunction.

Affirming a child's delusions by cross-dressing hairstyles, chosen fake gender names and pronouns while coercing vulnerable parents to go along with the charade is a one-way street. And if you are a dissenting parent it is a true Hobson's choice. Go along or lose your parental rights.

Kelly needs to understand that Trump's secretaries are all telegenic, great public speakers and are articulate in speech.

The secretaries are the face of the agency, its the grunts in the background who get things done.

For example, I have zero expectation of accomplishment of Bondi, Patel, Bongino, Noem et al because they were recruited for their television likability. I seriously wonder if that too is how Vance was picked - they have an ability to get out a message. They can't possibly do what they say, but they should have minions who do.

The mass federal "worker" firings was Trump's way of getting the minions to do what they are supposed to do or hit the streets.

Totaly psy-op on the federal "work" force.

178 Data comparing suicide rates among gender-confused teens who are denied their delusions with suicide rates among so-called detransitioners who experience buyers remorse (sometimes years later) are inconclusive due to a couple of factors. One, there is a relatively long (and ongoing) timeline for post-transition regret, and two, assigning a cause for a suicide in a gender-confused teen is complicated by coexisting mental health conditions.

Using the threat of suicide to establish sane treatment plans is a form of emotional blackmail.

India is on board. So is the EU. I saw a tweet this morning that China approached Australia and asked them to partner up to go against Trump and Aussie Man declined.

Trump is not just getting countries around the world to renegotiate trade terms he is making them choose between the US and China and isolating China. That whole BRICS thing is kind of going by the wayside.

And I suspect these people hear that response thousands of times a week, and that these suicides are rare instances of boys who were right on the razor's edge anyway.

Exactly. A wonderful side-effect going on Right Now is that the Globalists who are afflicted with TDS are eisegeting negative, negative, negative into every Trump decree, and they at least tell others to do things that are supposed to hedge against a Trump action.

This has resulted in one of the greatest wealth transfers ever - the TDS shorts, while MAGA goes long. BTFD when the TDS pessimists sell-off and short, then announce a 90 Day, watch the TDS traders get margin calls and have to liquidate other investments to cover their shorts, and MAGA gets another buy opportunity.

The volatilty is murder, but those who go long will do much better as the TDS investors liquidate to pay their Hate Tax.

216 Americans have far fewer banks to choose from than they once did. The American banking industry has consolidated, with the number of U.S. banks falling from more than 8,000 to less than 5,000 between 2000 and 2014 alone. By 2023, the number of Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insured banks had further decreased to 4,641, marking a substantial decline despite the U.S. population growing significantly during this period.
-------------------
Federal bank regulators are partly the cause, because they believe bigger banks are safer banks.

But Dodd-Frank is the real culprit. JP Morgan lobbyists are rumored to have written the law, so I guess it is no surprise that it requires a huge compliance staff that small banks simply cannot afford.

If America wants community banks we have to end Dodd-Frank.

Yup!

There's a tweet the author repeatedly posts at times like this and it's something like this:

And speaking of, there was a WSJ headline yesterday to that effect - essentially that Trumps tariff blunder may happen to have a good result. Right.

What he's doing not just with trade which is likely the biggest change in post WWII realignment, but sealing the border, deporting illegals, dropping inflation, ending wars, putting Iran back in a box, DOGE and on and on in a little over 3 months is mind boggling. I think we tend to get spoiled by the massive changes that are taking place. Any one of those things used to be a big deal for the first couple months of a new administration.

This is fairly antiquated thinking from the time of those fantastic carbon-copy machines. I get it because I think that way, too, but that number is already out on the internet. It doesn't matter if it's brand new, someone has it. It's just a matter of if they want to use it.

When the time comes to get rid of it just make sure it's cancelled and throw it away. Put it in a McDonalds bag or the like if you want, but no one is digging through the dump looking for them, especially with all the info online already.

To get 8 points, this guy had to be identified by 3 different sources as a gang member; the cop was only one.

But if you're going to start pulling the old "we're all in this together" bullshit while ostentatiously trampling on people and ruining lives through both malice *and* incompetence, we're gonna start losing that calm, easy-going "whatever" attitude that so well defines the typical American.

313 Well, Japan and maybe even Italy seem significant, but what about the other G8 countries? What about India? What about Brazil?
Posted by: MrExcitement at April 10, 2025 08:38 AM (hOOi9)

India is claiming they will lower their tariffs, that’s a wait and see there.

We run a slight trade surplus with Brazil who’ve had tariffs on the U.S. forever, so they still have the 10% charge on them, for now.
They are the least of Trump’s worries,

As for the G8 -
Canada still has the 25% on autos & parts, along with Mexico. Trump will deal with both of them in new negotiations over USMCA.

The UK runs a slight deficit with us but they’re still getting the 10%.

We don’t trade with Russia and have sanctions on them so that’s nothing.

Japan will work a deal out, until then 10%.

Italy will do a deal, still 10%.

France & Germany will be the longest holdouts.
France because they will protect their inefficient farmers until the cows come home.
Germany because they’re being de-industruslized by their idiotic green government and they need to export everything they possibly can to pay the light bill.

10% for each, for now, but I expect that will go up eventually when they balk at Trump’s terms.
