Joe Scarborough: I Was Such a Rock-Ribbed Super-Conservative That the Republican Party's Liberal Leadership Repeatedly Threatened Me, But I Am Too Courageous and Tough to be Frightened

Oh.

Is that how you see yourself?

That's interesting. Psychiatrically, I mean.

Newsbusters' Mark Finkelstein:

NewsBusters readers know that Joe Scarborough has the braggadocious habit of mentioning his former congressman status at every possible opportunity. They're also aware that Scarborough, whom we've dubbed Muy Macho Joe, likes to brag about what a tough a hombre he is.

Scarborough earned that moniker back in 2023 by bragging that if he ever saw a Capitol tourist snapping a photo somewhere Joe didn't like, he'd say: "Put the camera down or I'm gonna make you eat it. I would slap the camera out of his hand." Dirty Harry was a wimp in comparison.

On Wednesday's Morning Joe, Scarborough seized as a two-fer on the result in yesterday's judicial election in Wisconsin, in which the Democrat won despite Elon Musk campaigning in the state and donating heavily to the Republican candidate.

Scarborough not only dragged his former congressman status into the conversation, he also bragged about how tough he was when Republican leaders threatened to campaign against him when he took votes they didn't like.

As Scarborough described his display of extreme machismo. There's only one major problem. Does anyone actually remember the national GOP establishment opposing Scarborough in the 1994 primary, when he ran as a rock-ribbed conservative?

I had the Republicans doing everything they could to beat me in 1994. And I won.

And so, I get up there, and I start voting in ways they don't want me to vote, and they threaten me. And at one point, I had a member of leadership say, if you, you know, if you don't go this way, Scarborough, we're going to, and I cut him off.

I go, what, come into my district? Please come into my district. I won by 62% the first time you did. Come in again, and I'll win by 75%, and I turned around and walked off.

Video at the link.

Greg Gutfeld lauds Joe Scarborough for his "honesty" as well as his "dime-slot Hillbilly eyes," as Scarborough claims that he first became aware of Biden's mental infirmity during the "shocking" debate.

A masterpiece song from Joe Scarborough's album Dime-Slot Hillbilly Eyes:

You all forgot Joe Scarborough was a "rock musician," huh?

Did you know he put out a "Drumpf"-themed Christmas EP?

oe Scarborough to release Trump-inspired Christmas EP titled 'A Very Drumpf Christmas'

This guy listened to it so you don't have to.

His cover of the Beatles "I've Just Seen a Face," which he repurposed as a tribute to health care workers during the covid lockdowns he championed, is so bad that he murdered this song and stuffed it into a locker at work.

60 Ask Joe about the dead married young intern in his office when he was in Congress. Who somehow whacked her head on his desk and died one night, body found the next day. Coroner ME, who used to keep parts of bodies he autopsied at a storage unit, said she had a heart issue. I think the coroner later lost his liscense, but have not kept up.

Joe does not like this topic. I followed it closely when I lived in Florida. Joe knows nothing about why she died in his office as he was in DC at the time.

Joe and his weird wife can scream all they want, they still won't be invited to the White House. I loved, loved, loved when Trump 1 said they came over to Maralago with her "bleeding from her nose" after plastic surgery. Which was nasty.

99 Grok is unable to list major votes where Joe voted against the leadership.
I'd say, if it was real, and not another Biden-style Truth, he'd easily cite the legislation.

Oh, and Joe voted with the Republicans to impeach Bill Clinton.

Finally, Grok suggests:
As a rough estimate, given his conservative leanings and the polarized climate of the Gingrich era, Scarborough likely voted with Democrats on less than 10–15% of significant legislative votes—perhaps 50 to 100 times across his 4,075 total roll calls, mostly on niche or procedural matters rather than marquee legislation.

When the GOPe threatens you it is about shutting off whatever grift they are letting you in on.

But when the Deep State threatens you it is about releasing what really happened to that intern.

Then you get to DC and immediately you principles get questioned in all sorts of ways. You have lobbyists and bureaucrats asking for and offering small favors, women (or men) throwing themselves at you, and "friends" from earlier years call for "help"

And once you start making small sacrifices of your principles it gets easier and easier to make ever bigger ones AND to justify doing it as the right choice.

A Florida medical examiner ruled the death an accident. The examiner, Dr. Michael Berkland, said that Klausutis had an undiagnosed heart condition that caused her to faint and fall. Her official cause of death was a blood clot that resulted from head trauma she appeared to have sustained in the fall. The examiner said “she hit a desk with the side of her head” when she fell.

It cost at least $380 million. The $270 is pre-reshoots.

It'd actually need to make, assuming the $100 for marketing is correct (I'd guess $200, but whatever), $800 million to break even.

(The generally accepted rule is Budget / 0.6 to account for the theaters' share of ticket prices.)

So, if it only makes $225 million, it's more than a half billion dollar loss. That's...worse than John Carter.

100%. Even if the trade off is lower economic growth, a more reasonable return on the NYSE, and lower GDP growth, we still come out way ahead if we have a higher supply of jobs than we do a demand.

That should always be the goal. Make BK and Wendys compete for burger flippers. They compete by paying more money. That gets people off welfare, out of the cycle of despair, gives them hope for the future.

"Shit, I can make $22 an hour at BK? And managers make $80k a year? Maybe I should apply for a job there" is much better than "the only jobs available are fast food. It pays like shit, it's hard work, there's no path to making any real money, and welfare pays almost the same and I don't have to get off my couch."

That is not socialist because you are not calling for the government to be the means of production. Tariffs create winners and losers just like Globo homo economics of a flat world. Perfect example is the skyrocketing DJIA or S&P since the 1970's yet only one or two years during the Trump I administration did average US wages adjusted for inflation go up.

Disney let Andrew Stanton, the director, craft the marketing.

He seems to have assumed that John Carter was a well-known character in popular culture. A popular culture that had moved beyond John Carter with the rise of Flash Gordon in the 30s.

=========
Not really true anymore. Software in general and drivers have increased suckitude with each new generation.

AI itself is oversold with current tech right now and Nvidia is having some issues now with its latest generation regarding power consumption and longevity. That is apart from AI market being oversold in the first place.

In fact, Nvidia drivers, themselves, do not play particularly well in Linux and most people in Linux world use AMD because Nvidia proprietary drivers suck in that OS.

Just like corporate types that felt they could not go wrong with Intel back in the day, same goes for Nvidia and the launch of their 5000's game card series has not gone particularly well.

Nvidia doesn't really care right now because they are focusing on AI Blackwell sales for their projected profit share but that in turn depends on AI adoption at escalating levels of expenditures by megacorps.

It's absolutely rampant for household staff. At least in NYC / the Hamptons.

In Central America, its customary to be paid by the day, not by the hour for whatever reason I've never really looked in to.

So a lot of rich upper west side types will hire their help at, say, $500 a week in cash. Maybe it starts off with them only "working" for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. That's $12.50 an hour, which is already below the minimum wage.

Then, you need them to show up early sometimes. Or stay late sometimes, etc. And no one is paying overtime, or giving the mandated breaks, or following any of the NY Labor laws.

Anyways, I've had friends who have had to pay out six figure settlements / jury verdicts to nannies / cooks / housekeepers / gardeners etc.

And of course, they call me since I'm a lawyer, and complain about how unfair it all is.

Dunno about that. AI is basically a statistical prediction machine solving puzzles to them using 'tokens' and probability theories to fill in the blanks.

To use it successfully, you have to have underlying knowledge of the subject in the first place (similar to math/calculators back in the day) so you can tell when and where the AI gives you fake shit from hallucinations. If you are not knowledgeable in the first place, it gives you pseudo competence but not necessarily accuracy.

It is a productivity aid but not a replacement for educated humans at this stage.

Yes, if we consider it expert systems rather than AI and have it supervised by knowledgeable people. If you try to cut out the knowledgeable people and substitute coolie tech labor, things can go very wrong in a hurry with a system.

People in the field of artificial intelligence now have the new monicker of AGI (artificial general intelligence) to distinguish it from AI (which is really expert systems relying on probability theory to fill in the blanks).
