A person can read their Bible in a school. Unfortunately there are many places disguised as "schools" which exist mainly as kennels and holding cells that act as day care for the little reprobates who couldn't read anything except graphic novels anyway.

*runs around flailing a samurai sword* Posted by: All Hail Eris, She-Wolf of the 'Ettes 'Ettes at March 29, 2025 08:00 AM (kpS4V) Legislation against selling, making, hiring or importing samurai swords in England and Wales has come into force. Those breaking the law face six months in jail and a £5,000 fine. Carrying a sword in public is already illegal. Exemptions will cover swords which are used for re-enactments or antique weapons kept on display by collectors. Posted by: rhennigantx at March 29, 2025 08:06 AM (gbOdA) 10

G'morning Horde. We (my family and I) are in the path of the ice storm, but we're okay for now and we haven't lost power. Buildup of ice hasn't been as bad as yesterday's forecast and warnings were indicating, but what's coming down and sticking to the trees and power lines is increasing this morning as we monitor things. This is supposed to go on all day. We're hoping it doesn't reach the point of wires coming down due to the weight, but that's how things go in an ice storm. If the temperature would just increase by one or two degrees, the freezing rain would be "just rain" and would help melt what's already accumulated. Parliamentary systems make it easier to control votes. There are actual examples of parties making deals not to field candidates in certain districts in order to build a coalition to stop a populist movement. This happened in France not long ago. This is somewhat like Dems voting in GOP primaries to get an unelectable general election candidate, but it being done with the GOP's approval. Another key difference is that our federal system makes it harder to lock down all government. States like Florida show the way, making it harder for the central government to step on everyone. Germany is actually federal, and the various Lander have more autonomy than you see in France or the UK. Germany also has more of a gun culture, but none of that matters when the core issue of national identity is regarded with embarassment. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. I wish I cared about baseball.
I used to care. Not anymore. Posted by: San Franpsycho at March 29, 2025 09:17 AM (RIvkX) Weirdly, one place that's still a really fun place to watch baseball is Japan. The game over there is still the tactical, well-coached game you remember from days of yore. Not the tiresome big bat smashy-smashy or nuthin' game played in the US. Also the cheering can remind you of football games in the US. When I'm over there, I try to watch "my" team the Hiroshima Carps if I can. And watching baseball in the US in person is fun enough. Still, I kinda feel like baseball live the way I feel about bullfighting live...a cultural event with old roots and an importance no longer embraced by the culture that spawned it. Unlike in the UK, we have the freedom to protest these temples to Moloch, and one can see why the English demons are so terrified of prayer warriors roaming outside their walls. This is how it is done. We can fight legislatively, in the courts, but we can also simply shift the culture and the economics away from these death factories. God be praised! Do not let disappointment get you down. Sure, use the 24-hour rule, mourn over it, vent your spleen, and then get back into the fight. Remember, prayer is our greatest and most powerful weapon. This is why the Enemy burns churches, desecrates holy objects and arrests people for practicing it in public. If the Brits had any soul, any courage, 1,000 of them should march out to one of the mills and say a Rosary, then offer themselves up for arrest. One of the great things about the preschool is that they are already learning prayers and have a basic understanding of God, which was not the case at our old parish. Because of this, our grand daughter is particularly comforted because she can pray for her Dad, and others join her in prayers for his soul. This brings her great comfort and is certainly a big part of why she remains cheerful and well-adjusted in spite of everything. This is a big deal: EPA regulations
Lee Zeldin's kamikaze run for NYS Governor fell short but helped flip several NYS House seats and win the Rs the House. Else we'd still have Speaker Nancy (shudders). Zeldin's at it again as head of the EPA and, nerdish as it is, it will have momentous consequences. The core fiction of the Global Warming Scam is the assertion that CO2 is a "pollutant" enshrined into current law as the Endangerment Finding, and not just a trace gas that's vital plant food: "the endangerment finding has served as the foundation for a massive expansion of EPA authority, enabling it to impose its will into most aspects of American life. The finding also provided the driving rationale for the U.S. to sign onto the 2015 Paris Climate Accord, which in turn has driven the global effort to invoke a forced energy transition with trillions of dollars in government subsidies." Posted by: Ignoramus at March 29, 2025 10:17 AM (Gqoy+) 209
What's actually been going on is that the Earth has been warming for other reasons that have nothing to do with Man. CO2 in the atmosphere has been increasing but that's a lagging effect of, not a cause of, the Earth's warming. As the oceans warm they can't hold gases as well so a small amount of those gases moves into the air, CO2 included. It's science!
As a youth, I unwittingly ran an experiment that proves this. More than once I let my tropical fish tank get too warm which drove out the O2 (and CO2) so my guppies went belly up. Where's my Nobel Prize? Zeldin just had the EPA propose rule changes to overturn the Endangerment Finding and more. This will have momentous consequences but you won't hear of it in our Media which only covers its own circus Posted by: Ignoramus at March 29, 2025 10:17 AM (Gqoy+) 210

Posted by: Quarter Twenty at March 29, 2025 10:18 AM (dg+HA) --- It is a proxy for power generation. Note that no one cares about China's carbon because the goal is to deindustrialize the West and leave it subservient to China. Similarly, limits on farming are also about forcing countries to import more food, making them easy to control through embargoes. Unfortunately, the cat is out of the bag, and Trump is giving a master class in how nations can become more self-sufficient. The US really doesn't need China and never has, and the most generous explanation is that our dependency was an attempt to "open China" and bind our nations together to prevent war. In practice, we were becoming a colony of a very vindictive government that oddly blames us for the crimes of the British Empire. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Back in 1987, The Rise and Fall of the Great powers used electricity generation as a proxy for industrial might.
I think GDP is past its sell by date. It no longer measures actual economic activity because so much government spending is just being pissed away. If I borrow 10,000 and then spend 10,000, has my income actually increased? If you cross index the GDP growth under Obama and Biden, you will see that the debt went up by at least as much. Both presided over actual, prolonged economic contractions that were hidden by fake numbers. We should look at more concrete measurements, like energy generation, industrial capacity, private sector wages, etc. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at March 29, 2025 10:41 AM (ZOv7s) 235

The most effective way to boost vitamin D levels is midday sun exposure. Vitamin D deficiency stunts your body's immune defenses, making you more susceptible to illnesses and cancers.
Supplements can help. Some people have been unable to achieve healthy vitamin D levels on supplements alone, and there is a (small?) risk when taking very large doses. Posted by: Emmie at March 29, 2025 10:57 AM (Sf2cq) 263

I will say that as with everything, moderation is the key.
Going out on the water with lots of exposed skin day after day not only makes your skin look like leather, but it does produce some unhealthy side effects. Combine that with a lifetime of smoking unfiltered cigarettes and you can end up like my late step-father, whose life was extended in part because his various cancers are arguing over which one was going to finish him off. Avoid sunburn. 10-20 minutes whenever possible gives results without damage. Try to expose skin that usually doesn't get much sun, like your legs or belly. Wear a hat and cover your arms and shoulders because those areas have probably had enough sun in your lifetime. Vitamin D production is best in less-exposed skin.
