Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 3/ 28 /25![]() In an age where high-level remote government meetings have become the norm, important decisions in America and Europe are arrived at by video chat and text. But there may be bigger reasons why the Trump administration and everyone in D.C. should be wary about using Signal. While the app is ubiquitous because it’s perceived as being more ‘private’ than WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, Brian Acton, the man behind WhatsApp, created the Signal Foundation and is a major liberal donor. Moxie Marlinspike, Signal’s other founder and coder, claims to be an anarchist, and no fan of the Trump administration. Liberal foundations helped fund Signal’s rise and the initial fiscal sponsorship for Signal was provided by the Freedom of the Press Foundation whose key figures, Daniel Ellsberg of the Pentagon Papers, Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald, are better known for leaking damaging government information to leftists, rather than for keeping it secret. Signal continues to be run today by leftists who passionately hate the Trump administration. . . . . . Other foundation board members include Katherine Maher, the current head of NPR and former head of Wikimedia, who famously claimed that “our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that’s getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done.” . . . Conservatives should use Signal cautiously and Trump administration officials would do well not to hold meetings using a supposedly secure app run by some of their worst enemies.Ironically enough, or perhaps not "SIGNAL" was the name of the Nazi Waffen SS monthly picture magazine. In any case, priority number one must be the removal of Signal and any other means and methods that allow our enemies Domestic and Foreign, the former being our worst and most dangerous as history past and present shows us to bring us own from within and without. I'd say RICO the shit out of SOROS, and all these other phony subversive groups, but our Judiciary is rotten to the core. Look at what rogue Judges are able to do all by themselves, with, so far, zero consequences. And speaking of open insubordination and dare I say it (I DO!) Insurrection! Rochester leaders scolded local cops for violating their sanctuary city policies after they responded to a request for backup from Border Patrol agents conducting a traffic stop. The US Army should move on Rochester City Hall, arrest this Malik scumbag Insurrectionist, dissolve the city council and declare Rochester a Federal territory to be administered by the DHS. Dissolve the city's Democrat Party, arrest and detain anyone who resists and ship them to Gitmo to Git Some! I'm done with these bastards. Have a great weekend — And. . . A gentle reminder to my fellow Wisconsinites to get out and vote early, early absentee or whatever for BRAD SCHIMEL or on Election Day next Tuesday. Earlier is more better. And often, which is even more betterer! And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

I’m so done with Signal-gate. People should go back to pre-Covid standards and actually sit together in a room for meetings. Of all the wretched scumbags that could’ve been put in that group chat, Jeffrey Goldberg might be the worst; I can’t believe it was an accident. One of the people in that meeting have Goldberg in their contacts list. Why?? And finally this nugget: “ . . . Rochester’s sanctuary city resolution was first adopted in 1986” 1986??!! So the sanctuary city notion goes back to the Reagan era? I’m old enough to remember that era (with fondness) and I have no recollection of the Dems being open about it… Posted by: LinusVanPelt at March 28, 2025 07:39 AM (i5Vkf) 17

Signal scandal like Covid origin should be looked at from basic likelihood statistics (Bayes). How likely is it that anti-Trump journo is hacked into the message stream other than by an anti-Trump activist in the admin? That likelihood is roughly 1/100,000, based on the number of practicing journos in the US, including bloggers. That's the scandal. Find this person. Fire them, arrest them, prosecute them.

To the Muslim apologist from yesterday in case you're lurking out there, from Melanie Phillips:
Since the Hamas-led atrocities in Israel on Oct. 7 and the war that followed, there has been a tsunami of murderous hatred against Israel and the Jewish people who are identified as a global contagion. This ideological cancer has metastasized across the West and is now normative among vast swathes of the intelligentsia and cultural and political elites. As I have written in my new book, The Builder’s Stone, this is a civilizational crisis for the West. Its reaction to Oct. 7 has repudiated rationality, conscience and justice in a society that’s spent more than half a century dismantling the cultural codes that gave it rationality, conscience and justice in the first place. Here's something that I was surprised about,
since I've enjoyed watching "The Chosen". From what I've seen about the upcoming season, they apparently aren't going to include Christ's temptation in the desert at all. I consider that one of the most powerful moments in Christ's journey to the Cross. I think it's a mistake to "edit out" that episode. YMMV. Posted by: naturalfake at March 28, 2025 08:13 AM (iJfKG) I got tired of The Chosen. Sometime in season 2 I decided it wasn’t for me. I didn’t like the way Jesus (really the whole group) was portrayed… the necessary gravitas and reverence isn’t there. I’ve always appreciated how Willie Wyler handled Jesus in Ben Hur; in that wonderful movie we only see him from behind and he never utters a word. The Chosen zeitgeist is too modern. But that’s just me.. I can see how others might enjoy Posted by: LinusVanPelt at March 28, 2025 08:21 AM (i5Vkf) 92

I've been talking to a few of my people about Signal. BLUF, the code base is open source and is audited - so much so that any compromise would make whomever finds one would be an instant millionaire.
It's best in class for E2E. Any alternative would be supported by Microsoft, Apple, AWS, etc. Might as well say we can't use UNIX. Signal isn't the problem and it never has been. @mdubowitz Sad news. I had the privilege of knowing and working with Richard Carlson at FDD. He was always a gentleman — a true patriot, a Reagan Republican, and a fierce defender of Israel and the West against Islamist extremism, especially the threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Dick co-authored my first op-ed with me, defending Israel’s security barrier against suicide bombings. We traveled together to The Hague, where we staged a mock trial. Dick eloquently highlighted the Israeli and American voices of victims of Palestinian terrorism, as the ICJ moved to undermine Israel’s right to self-defense. 1:31 PM · Mar 26, 2025 ==== Dick Carlson z"l. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Rylaardsdam, a 31-year-old woman, is now being charged with second-degree murder after engaging in the wild request. The incident took place two years ago but an ongoing investigation eventually concluded that the charges were warranted, even if everything the OnlyFans creator did was per her client’s request. Before being cut off from oxygen, the man had a bag placed over his head that was fastened with tape. He also had boots glued to his feet—no idea what that’s about. Over at Townhall, after noting the refusal of Goldberg to share the alleged "classified" portions even with someone with security clearances (all but admitting he knows it's not classified), they state, what I think is the real reason for this scandal:
The Deep State can't monitor or spy on Signal. And this is, not for national security--but to drive Trump's team off of Signal. And back on to apps they can monitor. The memorandum warns service members that the consumption of poppy seed products could result in a codeine positive urinalysis result. Out of an abundance of caution, the Department is encouraging all service members to avoid the consumption of poppy seeds in all forms to include food products and baked goods. It seems like they're saying that most of it isn't corruption. It's a combination of apathy and ignorance. ------- Ordinary American's and Chuck's point is Trump helped the Liberals [with their new leader instead of Justin] make a comeback when, especially speaking as President Trump instead of as merely Citizen trump in December, he pushed the 51st state line, including Rubio and his WH spokeswoman repeating it, when letting it drop after December would have seen Justin's Libs get shellacked in the election that would have been forced on him in Jan/Feb. Not going to get into the "who" part of this Signal crap, but here's a few facts.
The difference between Signal and WhatsApp is in the architecture which very definitely impacts the security, that is, the ability of anyone other than intended recipients, to read the message. Both apps are encrypted, and there is no real difference between the strength of the encryption on either. The difference is in the middle of the link, and that's the weakness of WhatsApp. The encryption is removed within WhatsApp's servers. The message is encrypted to the server input, decrypted there, switched toward the end destination, then re-encrypted to the recipient. Signal keeps the same encryption all the way from one source to the other. Anyone with access to the internals of the server(s) can read the text on WhatsApp. Now, why would WhatsApp have this big hole in security? It actually makes the switching easier, but maybe the fact that nose-up-your-ass Fecesbook has common ownership with it is a factor. Jus' sayin'. "words are not violence"
Yes, but words can be defamation and slander/libel. The proper response to that is with words. But if you censor someone so that they can't defend themselves with words, you expect violence. I've been falsely accused of stolen valor by someone who took NO due diligence to understand the topic, to such a reckless extent that she has her "proof" backwards. I have tried to use words to present my DD214 to prove my innocence. She has censored those words and is now stonewalling me. She has blog posts where she spreads lies about my service in the Marine Corps that I am banned from replying to, so that I can only watch and not defend myself. That's not only chickensht, it's such a provocation that it feels like a setup. This disgrace has gone on for 5 years now. Having to endure the false accusation of such a dishonorable crime has damaged my mental health. And yet I have not harmed a hair on her head. It's taking all my discipline to refrain from violence, which she takes advantage of to stonewall. So I find this "words are not violence " mantra (which she repeats) to be bllshit. If you prefer words to violence then don't take away my words. Posted by: Fen at March 28, 2025 02:36 PM (c5hJL) 295
This is the same bs I encountered in the SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism - Atlantia) when I tried to alert leadership to a VIP who had molested at least six 12 year old girls over a span of 19 years.
Use words - they stonewall your complaint Use violence - they rule your complaint void Basically, they wanted violence taken off the table so they can get away with stonewalling you. Thankfully we got the perp anyway. It was a close thing, as leadership was resisting on another bs claim about whether we had "standing" to file the complaint. But in the end, spotlighting him ended his predation - he couldn't get within 10 feet of a child without 10 sets of eyes turning to scrutinize his every move. With nothing let to live for, he died. Seriously I didn't touch him. Couldn't even if I wanted to because my complaint was public. He cracks his skull open in the shower? Detectives would be at my door next day.
