Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Disney Insiders Throw Rachel Zegler All the Way Under the Bus for Tanking Snow WokeThis shit again!?!?, you all sigh. Yes, this shit again. I apologize. There were death threats too. Not against Rachel Zegler, though you may get that misimpression from the headline.Actually, the final figure was even lower: $42.2 million. There is definitely bad blood between them. Claims to the contrary are false. About those death threats: It was Gal Gadot who received death threats because she's an Israeli. Note that the media is not covering this, because the culprits, obviously, are Democrat Party allies, whether in trantifa or the very active "Pro-Palestine" community. Snow Woke is expected to lose between $200 million and $400 million. (Per one of the guys from Ruthless.) Zegler's leftwing trantifa fans attacked that producer, Marc Platt, for rushing off to visit Zegler to tell her that when you sign up to make a $270 million movie, you can't pop off with highly contentious TikTok zingers that alienate half the potential audience. That producer's son responded on behalf of his father. You really want to do this? Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for. This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions clearly hurt the film's box office. Free speech does not mean you're allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.Below, Rachel Zegler coddles her own narcissism by shrieking in joy at seeing her own name in the credits of the movie, which she watches in a nearly-empty theater.

That's the correct take. Disney put her there. Disney thought it was a good idea even with the horrifically bad press and her own goofs and missteps.
Honestly, Disney owes her an apology (thankless scrunt she is) because they enabled everything she did and fed into it. She destroyed what career she might have had. And they kept handing her matches and gasoline. Posted by: Aetius451AD at March 27, 2025 05:03 PM (bss/y) 8

I think it is all on Zegler. She caused everything that happen including the reshoots. Disney can be blamed for not stopping her.
This didn't happen with at least ten other films in the last ten years that made well over a billion dollars even though they were horrible and woke. I don't think any other star of those movies came out and insulted at least half of the potential audience. Maybe Chris Evans but who pays attention to him. You, however, are never ever allowed to tell your wife she's wrong. That said, it's long been known movie ratings are manipulated. For some reason, Amazon's ratings scale is pretty good, but, I think, due to some pressure, they decided to hide it a bit better than most. YMMV. I'm ambivalent about Gal Gadot.
PROS --Technically very beautiful -- Very pro-Israel -- Arranged for the media to watch the actual footage of the 10/7 atrocities, which apparently succeeded in "converitng" several reporters to our side. CONS -- Her beauty is too symmetrical and as a result kind of icily off-putting -- Aside from the single issue of Israel, she's a standard letist idiot on most other issues. -- She hasn't woken up tot he fact that her leftist allies are all anti-Semitic tools, so she merrily consrts with the enemy. VERDICT Undecdded. Posted by: zombie at March 27, 2025 05:35 PM (pMi6S) 184

They keynis this:
When choosing a workmof art to re-make, DON'T CHOOSE SOMETHING THAT WAS MADE WELL IN THE FIRST PLACE. If you do, your re-make will only look substandard by comparison. Instead, choosena work if art that had potential, but the original version of it kind of flubbed the execution. For example, don't remake The Wizard of Oz. Ever. Why? because the original 1939n version was perfect. As a good counter-example: Harry Nilsson had a little-noticed song on his album "Aerial Ballet" with the boring title "One." He sang it ina kind of mumbly, hard-to-hear depressed way, with mediocre instrumnetal arrangement. It did not chart. Even Nilsson fans barely noticed it. But the band Three Dog Night heard "One" and recofgnized in it the germ of a good song. So they decided rto remake it BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL VERSION WAS SO LAME, and they thought they culd massively improve on it. Which they did. And i became a massive worldwide Top Ten hit. Because their arrangement and signing were 100x better than Nilsson's original. THAT's how you do a remake. What you don't do is remake the most influential animated feature film of all time. My understanding is that publicists and studio people go to film previews and hand out cards with a list of IPs on them, with the question "Which of these have you heard of?" If a bunch of people choose "RoboCop" for example, you get a remake of RoboCop. No one wants to risk any kind of failure. You could remake Plan 9 from Outer Space into a really good movie, but people would associate it with the original ridiculous one and your project would fail. She pumped his dick? I’m 100% convinced that every single one of these young starlets (and young studs) sucked a lot of dick to advance their career. Harvey Weinstein was the rule, not the exception. That’s why they protected him for so long, and then, when he couldn’t be protected any more, they threw him to the rats.
Posted by: Elric Blade at March 27, 2025 05:57 PM (KlHOa) Yeah, I think Weinstein was singled out because of two things: He went after established actresses, and he was more vile and disgusting than most other producers. Spielberg has had his accusations, so yeah, everyone in Hollowood does it. Posted by: BurtTC at March 27, 2025 06:12 PM (dGCAG) 340

As a linguist of sorts, I'm curious as to the phrase's origins, and if it is well-known --or is instead a neologism. "Applebee's 8" as a phrase gets zero relevant results on Google.

314 Question: is the phrase "Applebee's 8" a pre-exiting idiom in American English, presumably meaning "an 8 on the 1-10 attractiveness scale, like an Applebees' waitress" -- or did "Wally" just invent that phrase out of thin air in that comment, and everyone sort of "got it"?
