"They Hate Us:" The Democrat Base is Revolting.
I Mean, They've Always Been Revolting. Now They're Rebelling.

Politico: Poor Democrats!

As Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer knows better than anyone, the Democratic base is pissed off. And not just a little.

The intensity of the anger roiling the party is at a historic level, suggesting a breach between congressional Democrats and the party grassroots so severe that it could reshape the 2026 primary election season.

Congressional Democrats have typically enjoyed higher popularity with their voting base than their Republican counterparts. But the trauma of the 2024 presidential election defeat appears to have ruptured that relationship. A review of Quinnipiac University's annual first-quarter congressional polling reveals that, for the first time in the poll's history, congressional Democrats are now underwater with their own voters in approval ratings.

Just 40 percent of Democrats approve of the job performance of congressional Democrats, compared to 49 percent who disapprove. That's a dramatic change from this time last year, when 75 percent of Democrats approved compared to just 21 percent who disapproved. The Democratic base's disillusionment runs so deep that it's eerily reminiscent of Republican grassroots sentiment in the period leading up to Donald Trump's takeover of the Republican Party.

You're going to see this analogy a lot, that Democrats want their own Tea Party.

Except the Tea Party was demanding the Republican Party do the things they'd said they'd do but had not done.

On the other hand, the Democrat Party has already embraced the insane, anti-American, anti-white, anti-male, anti-straight discrimination and hatred demanded by their base. They have protected and encouraged illegal alien criminals to come to America and rape American children. They have shut down the country in an escalating game of Quien Es Mas Karen? They have stolen children from parents so that the state can pump them full of transgender hormones.

They've done all these things, and the public has given its judgment of them.

So this isn't a base that is demanding the party try something new. This is a base demanding that the party double-down on all the things the public hates and has already rejected.

The numbers are clear: No longer satisfied with the status quo in their party, Democrats are on the verge of a Tea Party-style, intra-party revolt.

The Democratic approval data is unlike any in recent history -- and it isn't a case of bitter, disaffected partisans reacting to a loss in the last election. The first time Democrats lost an election to Donald Trump, their congressional approval ratings within the party actually ticked up, as Democratic base voters largely approved of the ways that party leadership resisted the Trump administration in early 2017. The same phenomenon surfaced among Republicans in 2021 when, despite Trump's defeat and the subsequent chaos of Jan. 6, Republican voters remained generally positive regarding their views on the congressional GOP.

...

Despite the restive energy in the party's progressive wing, the Democratic discontent does not seem to be centered around a desire to pull the party to the left or the right. Democrats cannot seem to agree on which direction the party should move in -- recent Gallup polling found that 45 percent wanted the party to become more moderate, while 29 percent felt it should become more liberal, and 22 percent wanted it to stay the same.

...

Instead, the numbers suggest that the fury is at least partly fueled by the Democratic base's dissatisfaction with congressional leadership's relatively conciliatory approach to Trump this time around, and their inability to stop him.

Hm, they want the Democrats to try #resisting Trump and rejecting his every proposal no matter how reasonable or popular or self-evidently correct.

And they actually think the Democrats have not done this for the past nine years.

Axios reports on Democrat Congressmen feeling scared by the leftwingers attending their town halls.

Democratic members of Congress, back home in their districts for the last week, have been encountering a level of anger and hostility that some see as reminiscent of the 2010 Tea Party wave.

...

State of play: Democratic town halls across the country have been erupting into fury over Senate Democrats' decision to let a Republican spending bill pass rather than use it as leverage to constrain DOGE.

Several House Democrats, pressed on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) folding in the government spending fight, have responded that the Senate leader should step down.

Rep. Sean Casten's (D-Ill.) town hall was repeatedly rocked by disruptions and was shut down by police after 45 minutes due to outbursts from pro-Palestinian protesters.

What we're hearing: The senior House Democrat told Axios that a colleague called them after a town hall crying and said: "They hate us. They hate us."

...

"Another thing I got was: 'Democrats are too nice. Nice and civility doesn't work. Are you prepared for violence?'"

Yes, there you go. That's what they really mean: They want office-holders to begin openly calling for violence and leading the violent revolution.

So I'll just say it: I want you to do that. We all do.

Do it. We're itching for it. Do you think we've been stocking up on guns for 40 years because we're too afraid to fight for ourselves?

Young voters have abandoned the Democrat Geriatric Revolutionary Party:

NYT writer says Dems are 'getting destroyed' as data show Gen Z 'most conservative' generation in decades | Alexander Hall, Fox News

Ezra Klein suggested that Democratic assumptions about youth support have proven 'completely false' amid President Donald Trump's return to power

New York Times columnist Ezra Klein spoke with a Democratic pollster Tuesday about how the dream of an ascendant Democratic majority is imploding as younger voters, especially White men, flee the party.

Klein interviewed David Shor, the head of data science at Blue Rose Research, a Democratic polling firm, for his podcast in an episode titled "Democrats Need to Face Why Trump Won."

When Klein and Shor reviewed numerous charts, including one headlined, "2024 Democratic Support by Age -- Split by Race and Gender," the pollster explained that in this chart in particular, "One thing you can notice is that among 18-year-olds, women of color are the only of the four [race and gender demographic groups] that Harris won. Trump narrowly won nonwhite men."

The Times columnist seized on one "shocking" finding in the data that defies one of the Democratic Party's core beliefs.

"I find this part of this chart shocking. I sometimes talk about narrative violations, and if we knew anything about Donald Trump eight years ago, it was that young people didn't like him. And Republicans had been maybe throwing away young people for generations in order to run up their margins among seniors," Klein said. "But if you look at this chart, 75-year-old White men supported Kamala Harris at a significantly higher rate than 20-year-old White men."

"It is a real shift," Shor agreed. "This is the thing I am the most shocked by in the last four years -- that young people have gone from being the most progressive generation since the Baby Boomers, and maybe even in some ways more so, to becoming potentially the most conservative generation that we've experienced maybe in 50 to 60 years."

The data expert went on to discuss what he called "the scariest chart in this entire presentation," which shows the massive and historically unusual polarization between young men and women.

"What's crazy is that if you look at people under the age of 30, the gender gap has exploded. Eighteen-year-old men were 23 percentage points more likely to support Donald Trump than 18-year-old women, which is just completely unprecedented in American politics," Shor said.

...

Klein noted numerous factors at play in recent years, ranging from the #MeToo movement and the rise of the Manosphere, to how "there's a sense the Democratic Party is becoming much more a pro-women party and in some ways, sort of anti-young men. And that, in turn, had a huge effect on young men's political opinions."

...

"Democrats are getting destroyed now among young voters. I do think that, even as the idea of the rising demographic Democratic majority became a little discredited in 2016 and 2020, Democrats believed that these young voters were eventually going to save them," [Klein] said.

More from Fox News.

But apparently fat-assed dumpy AWFL Karens think they're going to wage war on strong young men and... win?

8 The Tea Party wasn't even a Republican-only thing.
There were a ton of pissed off Democrats at the start who also thought the money spigot was unsustainable.

It's just that only (a few) Republican political types pretended to be in favor of their message. And most of them were either lying, co-opted or just shut out of the Uniparty if they did get elected.

40 Some DU deep think on this:

On 3/13 I posted the party will cease to exists if they support cloture

While hyperbolic I think that statement is much closer to the truth than not. Schumer did not and does not know that he blew a hole in the party and in the momentum that had been building to confront Assmouth.

This was my point as well: It's not a defense of Schumer to say they were in a no win situation

Because Schumer is the one who managed to maneuver them into a no-win situation. He lost twice: first by getting into the situation, then by capitulating once there.

But to defend Schumer by saying it was a no win situation is bizarre and backward. He's the Senate Dem Leader: it's his goddamn fault we're in a no win situation even if that is the absolutely best case you can make for his capitulation. He should go EITHER WAY.

Schumer also watched President Trump start ripping apart government and realized the process would only accelerate with a shutdown. Schumers only real mistake was opening his mouth before his brain had a chance to filter anything.

the numbers suggest that the fury is at least partly fueled by the Democratic base's dissatisfaction with congressional leadership's relatively conciliatory approach to Trump this time around, and their inability to stop him.

73 Do it. We're itching for it. Do you think we've been stocking up on guns for 40 years because we're too afraid to fight for ourselves?
---
Well, yes, they actually think we buy guns because we are cowards and in the dark times, the black-pillers were pretty outspoken about how we'll all hand over our firearms upon request.

That being said, I think the example of the Spanish Civil War is important, because a lot of the same ideologies and factors are in play today. You had a de-Christianizing society, an extremely polarized electorate and right that tried to play by the rules and a left that ignored them.

Read my book if you want to know more.

Anyhow, there are two profound differences between then and now. The first is the American Republic has proved far more stable, and resilient than the Second Spanish one. Trump's election despite every effort of the Deep State had demonstrated this.

The second key difference is that the Anarchists in Spain were actually very brave, determined fighters. The wokes in the US are uniformly physical cowards.

I would suspect at this point that Trump or his COS will immediately prohibit it's use in the future.

What they don't have is reality. People keep looking at Trump's tariffs wrong.

As Hannibal Lecter said "First principles, Clarice. Read Marcus Aurelius. Of each particular thing ask: what is it in itself? What is its nature? What does he do, this man you seek?"

What does Trump do? He negotiates. Tariffs are a negotiating tool. And they are working. Chip plants are coming back to the US, car manufacturers are coming back, investment is pouring into the country, $4 trillion so far and counting. And it's only been 2 months.

Trump used tariffs in his first term and we had a roaring economy with almost zero inflation. All people care about is that, a good economy and no inflation.

I pay attention to a lot of automotive news, reviews, social media - hell I run a automotive forum.

Tariffs is literally the *only* thing that are being discussed right now when it comes to the cost of cars. Even domestically produced cars will have their prices go up due to the fact that hardly any components are made in the US anymore. They're mostly made in Mexico and Canada.

So I see people unashamed to post comments like "these tariffs are the dumbest thing I've ever heard of" and being upvoted and repeated ad-nauseum with no substantive pushback other than the typical "lol libtard" nonsense, it gets me concerned that this tariff situation is going to sour popular opinion.

This is an easily solvable problem: Partner with the terrorized GOP and craft legislation to jam these violent retards into mental asylums - and pull their voting rights to under new Red Flag legislation.

If Congress can Red Flag away your 2nd Amendment, then they can equally Red Flag their ability to cast a vote.

We can't make shells, probably tanks too, and Ammo. And Ukraine has shown these international sources run out.

Russia, paranoid as they are, never let that happen. All those Cold War factories were there ready to churn out weapons. Coconut oil - Good …. Flavocol? Meh. Use Butter! Trust Me. Coconut oil has a good flavor by itself, or at least not a weird aftertaste. It also doesn’t start to oxidize right away unlike most vegetable oils. Movie theaters used it for that reason, they could warm it up 2 days later and it tastes fine, still light and crispy.

Fresh Bacon drippings is good for popping corn, too, and much healthier.

There is a tidal wave of investment coming, including Hyundai building a new steel plant.

The first thing we will see is American auto plants working at full capacity, because anything coming out of them avoids the tariffs.

Then you will see preliminary ground clearing/construction work. Alongside that, infrastructure upgrades so that construction can even begin. So even the factories won't be done for a couple of years, there will be huge, positive economic impacts.

My wife drives a Defender which is an amazing vehicle - so much so that I want to replace my rusted out Toyota with a V8 version of it. $110k. Its made in the EU, so it'll get a 25% tariff on it. If you think JLR is going to eat a $27.5k tariff then well, I have a bridge to sell you.

They might eat *some* of that but not nearly enough to remain competitive. And what is JLR's option here? Move their factory, that they just built in Slovakia, to the US? It'll take years to do that. They're going to get shafted big time when the time comes. Now I can see the retort: "Oh boo hoo the European luxuy car maker is going to get shafted". The thing about having the world currency for international trade is that we get the money first and it is cheaper for us than other countries, that is what the Cantillon effect describes.
Because of that there is better return on investing the money than creating capital goods, and the most useful manner to invest is to purchase materials, goods and services overseas to sell here. This is what we have done.
To solve this we can have tariffs, or the Fed can raise rates to make onshore production more attractive than financial poggery. Raising rates will cause a recession. Tariffs won't automatically cause a recession. Maybe.

281 >> The first thing we will see is American auto plants working at full capacity, because anything coming out of them avoids the tariffs.

Auto plants aren’t fungible, though. There are parts only made overseas.

There will be some increased investment, but most of the profits from foreign-built factories will still end up overseas. The balance of trade will continue to tilt against us, same as it did after the tariffs during Trump’s first term.

Tariffs are the wrong tool here, because they don’t address the core issue causing decades of trade deficits, which is the structure of international monetary systems.

Yes, that's the point.

I know you may want a luxury European car to drive, but as a national policy, it makes sense to encourage people to buy luxury American cars. If we're going to allow the cheap import of luxury European cars, then they have to also take luxury American cars.

Which they don't.

And if Europe wanted to play fair with us on cars, they could have at any point, and they decided to tell us to suck a dick.

So buck up and pay the extra tariffs or buy a different car.

And it goes far beyond that. Most countries use their laws and regulations to keep American companies out. For example, Europe won't import a lot of our food because it "isn't up to their food safety standards." Is there some truth in that? Maybe. 306 By the way, Oldcat, the problem we face is the same problem the Spanish Empire had when it brought in all that gold and wealth in the form of Chinese goods and then spent it. Inflation, offshoring of industries, short time preference and a rash of bad economic decisions that could be ignored because they didn't cost Spain nearly as much as it would if the volume of money was stable, or if all the money went to, say, England instead. it was also the time of the Golden Era of Spain, and that was funded in part by that cheap money coming in from the colonies.

one of the things that exacerbated the situation of Spain and the colonies was the end of all that cheap money at the beginning of the Napoleonic war, and the increasingly frenzied fights over the shrinking economic pie for the next 200 years.
This is one of the elements that set the stage for the series of coups, rebellions, wild changes in governments, and military adventurism leading up to the Spanish civil war

German manufacturers are already moving to the US before any tariffs because the economic, greenie and labor requirements make it impossible to build anything profitably in Germany. The tariffs are just one more thing, and only one of the problems VW and Daimler can solve by moving to the US.

There are also German steel companies that are shopping out manufacturing to US firms because the US has cheaper steel and labor, even if they both buy from China.

334 >>You’re framing it as a moral question, but it’s not. I honestly don’t care much about tariffs either way, but their ability to make us economically self-sufficient is pretty minimal.

No, I'm framing it as an economic issue. Diary is a big industry but ours has been effectively prohibited in the Canadian market while they are free to ship their stuff to our market. That's not morality. It's also not free trade.

Our foreign trade has been out of whack for years. It needs to be equalized. If other countries would remove their tariffs this would not be an issue so Trump is saying if you won't remove yours we will put the same tariffs on your products.

Yea, it will hurt for some products until an agreement is made and everyone kind find some product that is going to cause them some pain but the issue is to make the playing field fair. If we don't we will lose even more manufacturing industries. It's not morality, it's economic.

335 one of the things that exacerbated the situation of Spain and the colonies was the end of all that cheap money at the beginning of the Napoleonic war, and the increasingly frenzied fights over the shrinking economic pie for the next 200 years.
This is one of the elements that set the stage for the series of coups, rebellions, wild changes in governments, and military adventurism leading up to the Spanish civil war

Most of the wealth was brought in as raw silver and gold and brought back as cash. So the local economy, pretty weak in itself was crushed by the huge amount of money supply. With time the cash was dissipated in wars in the Netherlands or the Hapsburg regions or vs France. If they had poured the money into the colonies and shipped product as trade they'd have a renewable source. Spanish colonies were usually make money and go home operations, Englanders tended to stay and improve the colony abroad.

336 yeah its so good that its canceled.

No more Nissan Titan.

That's not the Titan's fault, it's Nissan's. Their finances are sufficiently garbage that it's assumed they're going to get absorbed by Honda or go out of business entirely.

The 'prices will rise' is a distraction and not true. The price of Canadian dairy might rise, but then people will just buy local dairy or dairy from a country that has a good trade balance, say Dutch buying wooden shoes while we buy cheese from them at about equal value and the tariffs wound down to fund the government only.

338 There are also German steel companies that are shopping out manufacturing to US firms because the US has cheaper steel and labor, even if they both buy from China.

Reliable energy is the real draw for them. With Germany cosplaying WWII the energy crunch is real.

339 Remember that DEI filters down to the youngest generation of outcasts. When they decide that fewer men or whites need to be represented somewhere, they mostly don't fire old men or whites. (They may do some of that, but that's harder to do and will cause more pushback and more lawsuits.) So they end up putting an almost complete freeze on higher young white men, and they get surprised when those guys don't support them.

341 Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on FoxNews on Monday evening that the Democrats need a completely new party. A Party that is divorced from the legacy of Jim Crow and slavery.

I suggest the "Minority Party"

It works on many levels
