To a certain degree they are. All the focus has been on what a shitbag the Atlantic reporter is and that’s completely true. But if you notice nobody has directly answered any material questions as to the facts including why they were using an app at least thought to be compromised by a foreign intelligence agency, and why SecDef was talking about operational details on an unsecured app. That’s before we get to that reporter allegedly being in someone’s connections. The people on that chat should know better. The answers coming from SecDef in particular are evasive and coming off as a cheap, clownish version of Trump. It reinforces some of the concerns people had about him. Irrespective they have some mess to clean up and we are lucky this was revealed on a relatively minor issues. YMMV

It looks real, some time-lapse view from one of the rovers. Perseverance has recorded real sound from Mars, and they likely added that to the time lapse. I remember hearing those recording, and that sounds just like it.

Problem is that any real secure communications system will have to come from civilian sources.... and the government has ensured that no one will fund any Secure email, or anything else, unless there is government funding...
Actual innovation does NOT come from Government programs... it comes from people using their Free thought to come up with new stuff... but the government will strangle any actual innovation into secure communications THEY do not control.

I was one of the first laid off at USAID. It's been almost two months to the day I was laid off (Jan 27 to be exact) and it hit me today how deeply traumatic it's been. I had a bad mental health day today and it just crashed down on me today and I was feeling waves of emotions that I've only felt with other extremely traumatic situations in my life (death, family issues, sexual harassment). Crying randomly for no reason. Tension all over my body. Hurting at the slight mention of USAID, DOGE, Trump, etc. I just desperately want to go back to work and it feels so jarring even three months later. I also can't stop thinking about the other 140k+ contractors, feds, and NGO staff affected, not to mention the deaths that have happened from the lack of aid. It genuinely feels like a mixture of PTSD and grief and I wish I was done processing it but it feels still so fresh and raw. Anyone else feeling this way?
