I Found Out Something That I Am Very Good At!

IMG_0068.JPG

I recently covered my wonderful and delightful experience with the USPS. It is from the February 27, "The Morning Rant". (Please do not comment on old threads or you will be lost in the bowels of some inner city USPS office.)

Things just keep getting better with those inept government workers. Nah, I'm just giving you a hard time. Their incompetence, ignorance and apathy are truly outstanding traits displayed each and every time I deal with them.

So to save wear and tear on our vehicles I signed up for Informed Delivery by USPS. Wow, just completely mind blowing or as an uncle of mine would say, "If shit goes in, then shit comes out."

I'm learning that some things can sit around for at least one if not two business days before I am informed. Recently a friend of mine who lives in Madison (which is a four drive for me) mailed on March 11th paying for Priority Mail, with an expectant delivery time of 1-3 business days. When did I get notified of the mail? I wasn't. It arrived at our post office on March 19th 9AM. This according to my friend's tracking information. I stopped in the lobby on the 20th to pick up some other pieces of mail and I was pleased to see my documents arrive to me in one piece.

Why in the hell it would take 8 days to travel 400 miles or so I have no clue. And they sure as hell don't.

I won't get into the package that The Fabulous shipped off to a niece in a neighboring state. We just hope she receives it as it has sentimental value.

I hope when the swamp is drained, the damn USPS goes down and doesn't clog the drain pipe.

On the bright side, Neither rain or snow or some other utter bullshit phrase isn't as screwed up as the following: I'm from the government and I'm here to help you.

Iceland's Minister for Children has resigned in disgrace she was accused of having sex with a 15 year-old boy when she was 22 and getting pregnant by him.

Ásthildur Lóa Thórsdóttir said she met the troubled teen, identified as Eirík Ásmundsson by RUV, while she was working as a counsellor at a religious group he attended.

He was just 15-years-old when they began their secret relationship, the outlet reported. Thórsdóttir claims he was 16 when it became sexual.

The Bidens want back in
With the Democratic Party struggling to find a new direction, former President Joe Biden and former first lady Jill Biden have offered to jump in and help with fundraising and rebuilding.

I bet they want in on that sweet grifter cash and white powder.

Please note this happened within a day or two of Hunter losing his premium Secret Service protection in South Africa.

They don't want to pay for stuff. They want the sweet luxury of "public service" back ASAP, thankyouverymuch!

7 Amazon's delivery service isn't any better than USPS. "Hey, we'll just dump stuff on your doorstep, despite the fact that you specifically asked us not to. Then we'll take a picture and we'll save thieves the trouble by just stealing it ourselves. You can call Amazon and their response will be 'So sad, sucks to be you.'"

8 Oh, it gets worse:

According to Vísir, the father is identified as Eiríkur Ásmundsson. He accused the former minister of preventing him from interacting with his son. However, Thórsdóttir denied the allegations. Reportedly, their secret relationship continued for some time, and Ásmundsson was present at his child’s birth.

Ásmundsson, according to the Icelandic news agency RUV, had requested the country’s justice ministry to give him access to his son but claimed that Thórsdóttir denied it. He further alleged that Thórsdóttir had been receiving child support payments from him for over 18 years.

Seduced a 15 year old, got pregnant, then denied him access to his child while extracting child support from him for 18 years.

Wow. Could she BE a bigger beyotch?

9 "Informed Delivery" – ha! I signed up for it, too. Every day (almost), I get 'notified' about what's coming to my maildrop. Funny how they never let me know when there's a package drop-off in the box next to it. They also fail to properly identify (or even count) the number and type of mail that's headed my way. They next insult us at the 'Post Office' when we attempt to buy stamps (remember them?). They're consistently out of the Medal of Honor or Purple Heart stamps, but hey!, they have 'gay' designs out the ass. When should we start looking for the commemorative 'BLM' issue ... ? Meh. 15 Good morning good people.

I do have a happy government story: I received the notice from the DMV to renew my car registration in the mail. I decided to pay for the renewal in person because I am a skinflint by heritage and necessity and it's cheaper that way. Sooooooo, I drive to the County office, park and walk in. Four windows are open with three of them busy with an other customer. The lady at the fourth window says "May I help you?" (No really, she did.) I walk up, hand her the card I got in the mail. She looks at it and tells me the cost. I hand her a CC. She hands me back the CC and the new registration tag and says "have a nice day!"

I wasn't even in there for a full minute.

Praise be!

Speaking of, I haven't filed my taxes yet. I've been using TaxAct for years, and frankly they get more expensive every year. I don't know why I pay them. It's a pretty straightforward process, they just basically save me from having to remember where to put the numbers, and then file the forms for me.

Surely there's a cheaper service. I guess I'll figure out which one to use, I'm sure they're all basically the same.

If Trump wants to make certain his successor will be elected in a landslide he should end the IRS and personal income taxes.

However, if he doesn't want to be that bold and just wants to help people a bit he could reform the IRS:

1) Taxpayers can 100% deduct the cost of tax prep, including time spent on it though this deduction can't make your tax bill negative
2) Any advice given by the IRS help line is *binding* on the IRS for the person that called them
3) Remove the income cap on child credits and multiply it by 5. However, again, make it so it can't make your tax bill negative. You want to incentivize the upper middle class to have the kids right?

60 USPS follies...

As of this past February there were still Christmas packages at the Louisville, KY sorting center yet to be delivered.

Why?

Because there are not enough "trained people."
Because people quit after a week.
Because it's FUBAR.
Because mail in my zip code, going to another address in my zip code gets routed to Louisville to be delivered two weeks from now to someone down the street.

That's why.

69 I like the people at our local Canadian Post Office.

That being said, the entire subhu,an pieces of crap at the Canadian postal service went on strike around Christmas.

I thought it would be a good idea for banks to take over the operations somehow. They are located in even remote communities.

Projection. It's about projection.

It's funny how little the left understand the right. They have no idea how we think. Walz is a prime example. You'd think being in the Army he might have learned something about normal men, but apparently he was just a chow thief working as a clerk, brown-nosing his way up through the ranks by polishing every apple.

He goes hunting and can't load his weapon. Like Biden, he feels this weird need to brag of being able to fight in his old age. No actual masculine man does that.

92 Sorting mail by hand, the stuff that can't be read by machines is a mind numbing job. So's sorting the packages that have no barcode label. You have to be able to read. Comprehend.

A lot of new hires can't do that. Don't want to do that.

They want to sit in the office, surf the web and make $80K their first year. Doing nothing.

The left's caricature of masculinity is that it means you go around beating people because you can and because you enjoy it. Waltz and Biden both play to that.

You'd think they'd play to the other caricature of masculinity too where you have a Chad that beds willing women at will...think James Bond. But I guess the AWFLs wouldn't like that.

97 Here is my USPS story.

I ordered some pants from Amazon and they gave them to the USPS to deliver. The day they were supposed to come Amazon sent me an email saying they weren't delivered because of animal interference. I don't have any pets and there aren't many wild animals in my area so I waited for them to be redelivered and they weren't

I saw my local mail guy and asked him about it, he said a different guy does the Amazon deliveries and I should call the office. I called my local post office and played phone tag with them. Eventually I got a human being that said my pants would be delivered tomorrow. This went on several times and no they wouldn't let me speak with the guy that was supposed to deliver my pants.

After about a week of this the pants mysteriously show up. I've never had this problem with actual Amazon deliveries.

122 The thing about liberals is that they are totally obsessed with status. A huge part of their hatred for Trump is that he does not respect their status and is accorded more respect than they are.

This is why the cheat to get degrees and doctorates, and also why liberals with military records embellish them. They know their service wasn't all that, so they have to claim rank, or try to make more of it than there was, etc.

Combat veterans have (in their mind) the ultimate status, so that's why the claim it so often. All the combat veterans I know are very low-key about it. It is not a subject of casual conversation. It's almost axiomatic that someone who keeps talking about it is almost certainly making it up.

123 Bernard Shaw, of CNN - asked Dukakis if he would be in favor of the death penalty if a burglar raped and murdered his wife, Kitty.

Dukakis sort of hemmed and hawed, ultimately saying no, he really didn’t think so. This torpedoed his chances, perhaps.

Historically I think it is why ALL political events are now scripted and fake and gay. Nobody wants to take a chance of saying the wrong thing. If nobody asks the wrong question the chances are even further reduced.

Town Halls aren’t really town halls. Press conferences that aren’t. Debates that really aren’t. Donny Two Scoops knew this, and blew it all up.

124 So there's this:

I-yp through Colorado is sort of a choke point for the West to East drug trafficking racket. Every couple of weeks or so we see a story of a traffic stop resulting in a bulk drug arrest. Latest was a Mexican from Sinaloa (cartel mule) stopped for going 82 mph just east of Glenwood Canyon which led to a drug-sniffing K9 and discovery of 42 lbs of methamphetamine. I've seen numbers like 50,000 fentanyl tablets, so this is major stuff.

My question is: "How many drug mules are NOT caught for traffic stops and end up reaching their destination?"

It's got to be a huge number, right?

I ordered an item from Amazon, which was to be delivered by USPS. After a few days, I noticed an e-mail from Amazon saying the package had been delivered when I did not have it in hand.

I went to my local USPS station and explained the situation. I gave the guy behind the desk the routing number and he went into the back for 5-10 minutes. When he came back, he said that the geolocation for the delivery was slightly different from my address, and they'd work with the guy who actually delivered the package to get it to me. I filled out a very short form, signed it and left. About a week later, I had the package in hand. So there are diligent people at a few stations.

140 Business routes in the US had twice a day deliveries back in the day.

If you watch some of the historical Post Office vids from the 50s and 60s they still do it that way, a lot of it, and with literally the same equipment. The cases, pouch rack, carts, hampers and buggies. They don’t use canvas bags, nylon or plastic but everything is basically the same.

They are saddled with a dichotomy- some of the finest people you’ll ever meet work there. And then some folks …. who are rancid to the core, and can’t be fired. It’s a strange place.

143 I-yp through Colorado is sort of a choke point for the West to East drug trafficking racket.

Posted by: muldoon at March 22, 2025 11:30 AM (/iMjX)

I got pulled over around Glenwood Springs some years ago, they had slowed traffic from 65 to 55, and I was letting my vehicle coast its way down. He clocked me at 68.

Come on, man.

He said they had a fatal accident a few days earlier, but maybe they were looking for drug mules.

147 That package going 400 miles might have traveled a lot farther. A friend recently had a package go north to south across Arkansas. Once it reached Little Rock, it went to Fayetteville (where they live). Then it went back to Little Rock. Then it left Little Rock and the next day it re-left Little Rock. Then it arrived in Little Rock. Then it didn't leave Little Rock but arrived in Fayetteville. Then it left Little Rock again and didn't arrive in Fayetteville... but it was delivered there the next day.

And, of course, they shut down our mail center here several years ago. In, you know, one of the most populous areas of Virginia. So, for mail to go cross town now (say, from my house to someone in Virginia Beach - a half hour drive because of the roads/traffic)... it now has to go to RICHMOND and back. It's an hour and a half to two hours to Richmond, from my house. So it takes mail 3-4 days minimum to go that 15-20 miles.

Read David Brin's The Postman and it's like a totally different era. And the mail gets delivered faster in post-apocalyptic America than it does now.
