Jeremy Boering Is Out at the Daily Wire

Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of the Daily Wire, is stepping down from his role as co-CEO to focus on creative projects for the company, he told staff in a memo obtained by Axios on Tuesday.
Why it matters: Boreing has been with the Daily Wire since its inception in 2015. He helped grow the outlet from a tiny news startup with $4.7 million in seed funding to a media giant valued north of $1 billion last year.
State of play: Caleb Robinson, the company's founding CEO, will become the company's full-time CEO effective immediately. Robinson and Boreing have been co-CEOs since 2019.
Robinson co-founded the company alongside Boreing and the outlet's editor emeritus Ben Shapiro.
In a note to staff, Boreing said he will remain with the company in an advisory role. He will continue to host "Daily Wire Backstage," the company's monthly show featuring Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles and Andrew Klavan.
He will focus full time on creative projects, including the completion of the Daily Wire's TV series "The Pendragon Cycle," in which he serves as director and executive producer.

Below, a YouTube guy named Ian Carroll -- who seems to be no friend of Boering or Ben Shapiro -- claims he's heard rumors that the resignation is due to vague claims about Boering's "egotism." And also about overspending on his pet entertainment projects, like "The Pendragon Cycle."

He claims the Daily Wire is losing money and is looking to sell out to a big firm.

80 Not surprised if these rumors about DW losing money are true. Boering launched a ton of stupid virtue-signaling initiatives, from Jeremy's Razors (which was FAR outside their core competency), to "Terror on the Prairie" (which, as much as I love Gina Carano, I didn't see) and "Ladyballers" (which, as someone else pointed out, is a 10 minute sketch stretched out to 90 minutes). I get that they were trying to work towards Andrew Breitbart's famous point about politics being downstream from culture, but they just didn't have the knack for driving culture. Shapiro's quote about how "facts don't care about your feelings" is far more of a cultural touchstone than any of these side projects the Daily Wire shat out.

I do like Daily Wire's content, particularly Jordan Peterson and occasionally Ben Shapiro, but I don't follow it obsessively or even regularly. Perhaps if they were to refocus on their core competency they could get back in the black.

"Tea" is the thing nowadays. I don't know whether you spill it or share it or what, but there's "tea" all over the place.

Jeremy Boering is the guy who made his own razors after Gillette said its customers (men) are toxic and depicted a teenage girl who'd "transitioned" to male and grown a beard and daddy in a touching moment was teaching her how to shave her newly-whiskered face. Just like real dads whose daughters have mutilated themselves.

He made funny commercials about his razor and I guess it was him who decided to make an alternate Snow White movie starring Brett Cooper.

He also made that cowboy revenge movie starring Gina Carano, and when I say "made," I don't know what that means. Raised money for it, spent money on it? I don't know.

Anyway, if he wants to spend all his energy going Hollywood, I'm curious but not one bit confident that he'll make it big.

Any time really cold air hits really warm air, with enough moisture in the atmosphere, you'll see tornadoes. Anywhere. Your very dry conditions probably spare you more regular occurences.

In a nutshell: because you have to pay them somehow.

When there's a trade imbalance, it must net out *somewhere* and *somehow.* This primarily happens because eventually, money must come home. When you run a trade deficit, you are dumping your currency abroad in exchange for stuff, but that money has to be used for *something.*

The most common are either the divestiture of assets or a weakening of the currency. When your money fills their coffers, they will buy your shit with it. Stuff like ports being sold to foreign enterprises, foreign corporate takeovers, etc., is all tied into trade balance. Barring that - or in addition to it - your currency falls in relative value. Too much of it floating around abroad, so foreigners want more of it for any given thing. Its effects mimic inflation to some degree.

The US is a special case because our currency remains generally useful even abroad and so we have greater flexibility than, say, Portugal - but we are not immune. It also ties into fiscal deficits for more complicated reasons.

Apparently, the FBI tried to find Soviet spies by offering jobs throughout the country for Russian language teachers. They have these guys show up and they'd then vet them. If they spent time in the USSR, they'd follow up and put them under surveillance. The one I'm reading now is a gem. This guy claims the USSR allowed him to leave the country by mistake, that there were busy with other things. The interviewee (either CIA or FBI) thought that was hilarious.

That's actually not the reason he launched Jeremy's Razors. He actually did it in response to Harry's Razors dropping advertising from The Daily Wire. Granted, Harry's had caved to left-wing pressure tactics, but regardless, Boering did this specifically in a weak attempt to retaliate against a former advertiser. It had nothing to do with Gilette. In fact, Harry's (and its primary competitor, Dollar Shave Club) is the primary reason Gilette is losing money these days.

I used to do the DSC thing, and then they went too woke and I dropped them. That's when I learned that DSC isn't a real manufacturer. They just buy bulk from Korea's "Dorco" and rebrand it with their slick (and increasingly stupid) packaging.

Well, I can do that, too. I buy my cartridges in bulk on the internet from Dorco about once a year. Same product, and about the same price (I don't get DSC's millions-of-units price breaks) as I paid when buying from DSC.

It's fine. Not the best razors, but get the job done and are affordable. And I cut out the woke middle man.

200 I'm guessing this probably has more to do with the way Daily Wire replaced Brett Cooper on her own show and then publicly badmouthed her for not openly and repeatedly defending her replacement. Add on top of that the two other high profile talent feuds (Candace Owens and Steven Crowder) and there appears to be a pattern.
