Defense Minister Israel Katz warned of intensified military action if Hamas does not release hostages. The Israeli military targeted Hamas commanders and infrastructure in preemptive strikes. Hamas accused Israel of war crimes and called for international intervention. Netanyahu reaffirmed that Israel will not stop until Hamas is destroyed and all hostages return home. ... Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz justified the attacks, stating they were necessary to achieve the war's objectives. "This decision comes after Hamas repeatedly refused to release our hostages and rejected all proposals presented by U.S. President's envoy, Steve Witkoff, as well as the mediators," Katz's office wrote in a letter. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet, Israel's internal security agency, confirmed they had begun striking Hamas targets "under the direction of the political echelon." Israeli forces launched a series of preemptive strikes aimed at mid-ranking military commanders, leadership officials, and terror infrastructure. The operation is expected to escalate beyond airstrikes and into further military action. Israeli officials said dozens of targets were chosen based on Hamas' readiness to execute future attacks. Additionally, authorities decided to keep schools in the Gaza Envelope closed due to security concerns. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office reiterated that Hamas had rejected all offers, including one mediated by Trump administration envoy Steve Witkoff. "Tonight, we returned to fighting in Gaza due to Hamas' refusal to release the hostages and threats to harm IDF soldiers and Israeli communities," Katz stated. "If Hamas does not release all the hostages, the gates of hell will open in Gaza."

So, the solution is to dissolve the inferior courts, and wait until Congress could define a new set of inferior courts with controls on what cases they can hear. Make all suits against the government go to the Supremes directly, so that Johnny Roberts has to deal with all the restraining order requests.

Impeachment is a political response to a process where those involved no longer have faith in the ability of certain parties to act within their normal bounds.
The lower judge actions has nothing to do with law. It has to do with politics, as such impeachment is a perfectly appropriate way to deal with the dispute. Now there are not votes to make that happen yet. But I think the chances for the US Court of Appeals to be dissolved, while unlikely, increases by the day, as a message to all the rest. Stay in your lane. Roberts needs to get control of the situation, otherwise, TJM might just get his wish.

Roberts is basically a cross of past Chief Justices Taney and Warren Burger. Burger, like Roberts, loved to try to manipulate justices on the Court so that both the conservatives and liberals on the court grew to hate him. Taney had the situational observation of a blind man. His pointless and stupid Dred Scott decision using every single trick make Scotus supreme over the slavery question ended up creating a bloody Civil War as a result.
Roberts is just that bad as chief justice.

The Federal Bench works under the Federal Rules of Civil Law. They are the 'rules' by which TROs and a court's authority, are legitimizes.
Problem is, those rules. In 1934 Congress decided it was too busy to continue writing those rules, and so gave the job to the Supreme Court, which can write any rule it wants, UNLESS Congress enacts legislation to deny or change said rule... Just the opposite of Congresses job before.
Roberts just amended those rules LAST YEAR. All of these rulings are under Rules Roberts put out there, and the ONLY way to take that authority away, is to amend said rules.... which he is not going to do... as it would take power AWAY from the Courts that he helped UnConstitutionally usurp.

That was Roberts trying to do his homage to CJ Marshall. But, the issue is that everyone knew where Marshall stood on a case, he didn't do the passive aggressive shit of cobbling on his own 'saving' via an unbriefed 'taxing power' to save the unconstitutional Obamacare.

It is the other 60-70 actions by Resistance judges that are worse in effects but Boasberg is intentionally ignoring clear precedent by Scotus from that 1948 case dealing with the Alien Enemies Act. Boasberg is behaving unlawfully as a judge and Dred Coward Justice Roberts is doing his passive aggressive whiny shit rather than taking care of business. My guess is that both Boasberg and Roberts worked closely together on FISA court. BTW, Boasberg's daughter works for a leftie NGO specializing in trying to keep asshole illegals in the US. Very little is actually happening. The admin has paid out some of the $2 billion, but only what it has decided is in alignment with its priorities. Probationary employees haven't been hired back.
The vast majority of what's being covered and ordered is simply not happening. The administration is doing either malicious compliance, outright not complying, or getting appeals processes started as soon as possible so they don't have any orders to comply with while the appeals process plays out.
Most of the legal maneuverings right now amount to little more than noise without much affect on admin actions.
And there's the endgame that they're racing towards of overturning Humphrey's Executor, which is definitely going to be on SCOTUS' docket come summer.

Actual question... What can Roberts do besides say the order is invalid? He can't fire the Judge. He can't bitch slap him...
Under Fed Rules of Civil Litigation, the case must go through the slow 'process' unless the Supremes do an Emergency order... and even then all it can do is tell the Judge to rescind THAT order... I don't even think Roberts can pull that Judge off the case... there is no process to do that which I have ever heard of (short of impeachment).

Most people don't know this, but the ONLY court set up by the Constitution is the Supreme Court. The other lower courts were set up later by Congress. The argument will go that the only co-equal court is the SC -- the only one the Constitution says is co-equal.
I think this is coming. We'll see.

Roberts is the supervisor aka rides the DC Circuit. As supervisor, he can immediately put a stay on the lower judge's TRO and subsequently refer the action to Scotus. From previous published opinions, we know four justices are already wanting to curb these ridiculous TROs and nationwide injunctions by district judges and all it takes is Roberts to put on his big boy panties and sign on. ACB will probably do so if he does.
Roberts is resisting because a lot of those DC asshole judges are friends and very possibly would hurt the business interests of his wife who is legal headhunter for the elite DC law establishment. He is a fcking coward, a manipulative Chief Justice, and unimpressive legal mind.
BTW, the reason Congress abdicated the rules of procedure is that much of it is technical and a lot relies on constitutional decisions that Congress cannot legally address via statute. Especially true for criminal matters.

I think Kavanaugh is moving right. ACB moving left and CJ Roberts being a cowardly weasel trying to jump on whatever he perceives as the winning side so as to write one of his shit opinions. Burger used to do the same thing and eventually all the other justices developed hatred for him doing that. Brennan, etc. liked and respected Rehnquist more as CJ than Burger despite Rehnquist being more conservative than Burger. So did the other justices on the Right.

No. Roberts isn't stupid. He can very clearly see that this shit is seriously fucked up and it's wrecking the prestige of the court system. People are questioning their judgement and honesty. He can see that. But he does not want to deal with it. He wants lower courts that aren't staffed with lunatics to do their job with honesty, integrity, and respect for the constitution. Which is what every court and judge should be doing. He wants someone else to curb stomp this bullshit so the Supreme Court doesn't have to get involved.

It should be. To out myself a bit, I taught Constitutional Law primarily powers, Administrative Law, Comparative Law, Legal Systems, Legal History plus special topics etc for two decades. Retired now. So my official position is that Roberts pisses me off because the guy combines the whinyness of Justice Douglas, the duplicity and manipulations of Chief Justice Burger, and the tactical sense of the law of Chief Justice Taney.
A great CJ, he is not. Roberts starts with the results he wants in a case and then reasons backwards to get it.

As I explained above, Boasberg and Roberts worked together on the FISA court--CJ Roberts is the titular supervisor of it and Boasberg was chief judge of that court for a time. Then you have Robert's wife who is a legal recruiter for top DC law firms and there is another connection that I forget but basically one of Robert's staff has a wife that works or did work for Boasberg.
Boasberg himself has a daughter working in an NGO that specializes in trying to admit, fund, and keep illegals and refugees permanently in the US.

I'm not a lawyer and I didn't stay at Holiday Inn but...
My take on Roberts is that he is a cockeyed elitist. Meaning he believes the Supreme Court should handle big, serious cases that can change federal laws and even federal government and have an effect on the entire country. The "small ball" stuff gets handled by lower courts. To Roberts, who sees this is rampant stupidity, these judges getting uppity is small shit. It's blatantly unconstitutional and any appellate court in the system will slap it down. He has faith in the system to self correct that which is in need of correction. If it gets far enough out of hand that it lands on his desk, he will address it as per the constitution, but he thinks it shouldn't get to his desk. Because the Supreme Court is above this garbage.

I disagree having read his opinions, followed his pronouncements in the media, etc. He is a coward who only punches right in those opinions and pronouncements and his intellect is much less than many of his fellow justices on the right. I would rate Alito and Thomas at the top via experience and legal acumen. Gorsuch is getting there albeit idiosyncratic on some issues but far better than his mentor Kennedy. Kavanaugh is a smarter insider judge as he had to hone his craft on a hostile DC circuit far longer than Robert's brief stay there.
ACB and Roberts are the ones with scant judicial and legal experience and for that reason the most amenable to keeping to whatever appears to be the winning side socially rather than legally. Roberts is a far inferior CJ than Rehnquist, Hughes, Taft, or Marshall. He belongs at the bottom of the CJ list even below Warren who was competent.
