The Morning Report — 3/ 14 /25

Hakeemcheese.jpg

Good morning kids. In noting the passing of the longtime Democrat Rep-robate from Arizona Raul Grijalva, considering some of the items making news this morning , perhaps the word of the day is harbinger. And he's the second Dem congress-vermin to join the choir invisible this week. A few notes from his rap sheet at the invaluable DiscovertheNetworks:

Former Democrat Member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus
Former member of MECha, which seeks to facilitate Mexico’s reconquest of the Southwestern U.S.
Former leader of the Raza Unida Party
Supporter of open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens

Vaya con... something Raul. Certainly not Dios, since he is heading south of the border - between the Lithosphere and the 9th Circle of the Infernal Reaches. Let's leave it at that, but from my perspective we need more Wallenbergs, and no more Grijalvas.

Elsewhere, while we ponder the concept of harbingers, on the national political scene, it seems as if Chuck Schumer and the Democrats have been boxed into a neat little corner vis a vis the upcoming CR that passed in the House and now heads to the Senate.

With Democrats threatening to force a partial government shutdown, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is being confronted with a warning he delivered just last year.

The “Rapid Response” account on X for President Donald Trump’s White House posted on Thursday a “flashback” clip of Schumer’s remarks from September — when the top Democrat pinned a potential shutdown at that time on Republicans. “If the government shuts down, it will be average Americans who suffer most. A government shutdown means seniors who rely on Social Security could be thrown into chaos …” Schumer said.

“So what changed, Chuck?” the White House account asked. . . “The Trump Derangement Syndrome continues,” said Sen. Thom Thillis (R-NC). “One of the first things Democrats did when they controlled the Senate was to make a failed push to nuke the filibuster because [Joe] Biden was President. Now they are shamefully filibustering and on the verge of shutting down the government to appease their radical base because Trump is President.” Elon Musk, who is overseeing the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), replied: “Paging 2024 Schumer …”

The Democrats for years as we all know have shrieked about how shutting down the government will cause death and destruction from coast to coast, unless they get to raid the treasury to fund their bureaucracy (the real doomsday machine as we all know. So now the Democrats are having to swallow their own bullshit rhetoric about shutting down the government lest the public finally understand how generally unnecessary thbulk of the federal government is. And that only reinforces what DOGE is all about. And, so long as Mike Johnson and the GOP don't cave (a tall order) they have the chance at accomplishing in Congress what w is their duty, in slashing the budget and size of government through the budgetary process. One way or another, a lot of politicians are going to be foisted on petards of their or Trump's making!

But here's Chip Diller insisting that everything's under control!

To me, it sounds like a nail bragging about its rivalry with a hammer. (Or a bag of doughnuts bragging about its rivalry with Lizzo.) But nonetheless, here we are:

“We have the Republicans on the run!” announced House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Turns out the Democrats aren’t just bravely battling back against President Trump. They’re actually winning — and now Old Man Trump is running scared!

In a call with party leaders, Jeffries described Trump’s recent speech to Congress as “one of the most divisive speeches by a president in American history” and predicted, because of the economy, MAGA’s end was nigh:

Keep huffing those whippets Hakeem.

Of course, when cornered, Democrats go to their strength: Incite violence. Do I really have to quote slithering vermin like Maxine Waters and Jeff Merkley? It's in the links for those who really need to get their blood boiling.

And talk like that gets the blood flowing, mostly from knife and bullet wounds, as well as from bricks hurled a la Ignatz Mouse at Krazy Kat's head - - prepositioned on pallets from sources unknown. Patel and Bondi need to go after Soros, Antifa and ActBlue because that's where all the violence ultimately begins.

And it raises some cromulent questions about the nature of free speech that CBD and I touched on in the latest episode of the podcast, here and in the sidebar.

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

Have a great weekend.

    ABOVE THE FOLD, BREAKING, NOTEWORTHY

  • Anyone affiliated with or even speaking an ounce of praise towards President Donald Trump’s administration have become targets of a violent left that knows they have no coherent arguments, or propagandistic arguments, that work anymore, so they’ve resorted to basically declaring Civil War against anyone that doesn’t chew their tongue like they do. After the “alleged” murder of InfoWars reporter Jamie White Sunday evening, yet another InfoWars reporter/host has been targeted by, “allegedly,” by an ideological counterpart. InfoWars host Chase Geiser posted to X, along with a video, that he was “swatted” twice within 12 hours.

  • Bowman said, “It’s definitely organized at a broader level. There is a website up that people can go visit that’s out there today, and I’ve actually posted this on my X account, I’ve shared some of these events, but they’re coordinating it with people locally across…not just the Indivisible groups, really, but, like, multiple groups and individuals that are, like, posting these events where people show up and they already have, like, pre-printed graphics…signs and stickers and things like you mentioned that basically depict Teslas being set on fire.”

So, if I understand the gist of this correctly, Trump is great, DOGE is great... generally. But when DOGE's actions affect areas of government I care about then they're too young, too inexperienced and they fail to recognize the nuance of all the great people who spent decades watching the fraud and abuse but really, really hated it.

21 The Left has only one setting on their dial. They cannot, organically cannot, compromise or even contemplate compromise. So any talk of unifying the country is a total delusion and dead-end. I can see the political temptation and rationale behind it but in fact it's a cruel deceit (or self-deceit). The American people need to be made much more aware of who the Left is, what they want and how they intend to achieve it. In a sense, this should be simple and even easy, as the Left is so luridly obvious in their ways and means.

23 Trump is moving Overton windows.

GenPop couldn't grasp the enormity of what's been going on all at once. It's unfathomable, at first. So it's being revealed by degrees, as the head of the NSA, Tulsi Gabbard, makes connections in oceans of data stored in Utah using the latest AI tools. Elon is buying Tulsi time to do this by sawing women in half as an opening act distraction.

Sh*t will get real when skads of money are traced to the personal accounts of prominent Lefties and their GOPe fellow travelers. As this happens, public opinion will move. They'll have awoken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.

One of the core problems with “progressive” lunatics is that the only thing that matters is intentions, not results, nor (perhaps) unintended consequences.

Shielding juveniles has been a long running disaster. Adult criminals routinely recruit children to commit felonies because they are basically untouchable and have not only anonymity they have a “get out of jail free” card. The youth soon learned, as they always do, just how far they can go, and what they can get away with. Watch.

42 The rules on free speech are simple. You are free to express whatever you want as long as you aren't a communist. In that case any speech that can be interpreted as supporting communism, or whatever if we're having a bad day, is a jailable offense, subject to a minimum of 20 years in solitary confinement.

But Ellipsis you will say - that goes against our Muh Principles!!! First of all it doesn't go against *my* principles - communists don't have rights as they plan to take yours and communism is deliberate poison.

"But but what about when they try to take those very same rights from YOU"? You may ask. And that's the beauty of it. They will never get the chance. And if someone turns communist once in power, even for a day, even as a joke, that's it, 20 years in solitary.

But that's not FREEDOM, you simper. And I clap back that, yes it in fact is... for everybody but communists.

50 USCIS Rules on Student VISA

A student’s visa status affects their responsibility to act ethically and honestly because if they do not abide by the rules and regulations of their visa, it could result in serious consequences, such as deportation or criminal charges. Moreover, as foreign visitors, students must observe the laws and regulations of the host country, respect its culture and customs, and act with integrity and honesty. Violation of these laws and regulations could lead to serious consequences, including financial penalties or even imprisonment.

So violation of student speech codes or unlawful assembly would apply.

I can’t wait to hear what Steve Schmidt has to say tomorrow on The Warning. No doubt there will be veins popping out of his neck.

As Rachel said tonight, he lit a roman candle in a phone booth lmao. Schumer did make one valid point. A shutdown would close the Federal courts, which are the only place we're succeeding right now.

Schumer needs to organize a squad of Democratic leaders to saturate the airwaves explaining why they did this for the people. Call press conferences, give interviews, have Mayor Pete go on Fox.

LOL With what MSM to actually cover any of it? We can't get them to tell the truth about Trump. Why would this be any different? The media is right-wing controlled. They just ignore what doesn't help them.

I bet he is retiring and just not announced it. His book tour schedule is posted on Bluesky. I think it might be quite uncomfortable for him. I hope it will be quite uncomfortable for him.

Better yet, give 25K/year to each student to spend at the school of their choice - with requirements that they pass a proficiency test at the end of the year and stop funding the schools directly. That saves 7k per year per student and, done correctly, saves all the money from illegals. SCOTUS may have said that they can attend public schools but they can't (haven't) said that tax dollars must just be shoved directly at them.

-

Yep. Up until the USAID / money laundering exposure it was the biggest scam I'd personally seen successfully enacted upon Americans.

Pointless waste of energy accomplishing, at best, a break even, and at worst a pit of energy and financial waste. There is and has never been a single self-supporting all-items recycling facility. They can't exist.

And then around 2018 China disclosed that they would no longer accept our trash, which meant people learned that we were simply wasting time and effort to ship it across the ocean on enormous vessels so that the few that eventually reached that country with the cargo would burn the trash we so carefully washed and sorted.

Say, has anyone figured out where those enormous islands of plastic came from? What a mystery, eh?

So, not all feds are bad, just the other 50% (which can be 10-99% of some departments, depending on what the mission of the department is)...but when there's 50% who are bad, and they aren't just bad, but vocal, you get where we are...

Oh, I don't know. While I agree with your either/or example, because everyone should have skin in the game.

This seems to me to be also how the game is played if Trump truly is moving toward having our national expenses paid by tariffs.

So, he moves the tax-free line up to where you start seeing the incomes where Democrats form a majority. They're the people who are always spouting off about how they want to pay more taxes...well, go right ahead, Petunia! Pay away.

As inefficiencies, fraud, robbery, etc are squeezed out of the budget, that line will (should?) move upward, eventually eliminating the income tax or coming close to it.

It's a shame, but a certain amount of politics must be played cuz the naked ape is a political animal.

My position on this issue as a tax payer for the last 40 years is this;
- Refund every cent I've paid over those 40 years, then fix the tax code(s)
- or-
- Eliminate the personal income tax for single/joint filers with no income ceiling

Either or. I don't care. But as a taxpayer, owing every year, I see that not a goddamn cent of my money was ever spent appropriately.

I like the idea of it, but the reality is that millions of people get a lot more out of tax-time than they ever put in. I'm not talking about welfare, food stamps, section 8, etc., either. Just the EITC alone is a lottery win for millions of low-income zero tax payers, and Biden expanded it to millions more. While people that pay taxes above some arbitrary line (and don't take any welfare) are punished.

Trump is a marketer and promoter. I think this is a way to get a BUNCH of people on board with what is about to happen, and hopefully eventually tariffs will be in place and taxes will be a moot point.

157 My wife always believed in recycle so we paid $1 a month for the special recycle container, even I would opine from time to time that it was pointless. Well here in East Texas, the only large scale recycling collector ((which every town used) burned down last summer, and no one has put out any money to rebuild it. The city had to admit “ok now it’s all just going to the landfill, sorry” and that was that.

Ps - why it burned down, apparently they had a parking lot and a storage warehouse full of dry pressed cardboard they couldn’t get rid of, and no working sprinkler system. Oops.

There was no market even with laws - sorry, "regulations" - in place requiring X% recycled content that were written specifically to prop up the pretend recycling "market" for the items.

There was a time when you could find articles about the laws and percentages. IIRC newspapers were what got the whole thing rolling.

The leftists depend on decent, peaceable people’s willingness to compromise, get along, avoid conflicts. Note well there is no tolerance offered in kind, as usual they were … lying. “No tolerance for the intolerant!” blah blah blah.

Correct. The "income" tax is not there to fund the government, it is there to punish people who disagree or disapprove of the democrat run Deep State. Even suggesting this amount or that amount does not have to "pay" brings out the hate and discontent that you have some how escaped the punishment. Not to mention the "release their tax returns!" ruse to further punish those the Deep State dislikes.

184 From a report in Human Events -
The Middle East Eye has revealed on Wednesday that Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University masters grad who was detained by the Department of Homeland Security on Saturday night after his green car was revoked by the State Department, had security clearance from the British government. He worked, the outlet states, as a "programme manager at the Syria Office in the British embassy in Beirut from 2018 to 2022."

Khalil "worked as a local manager for the Syria Chevening Program, a prestigious UK government international scholarship scheme, as well as for the Conflict, Stability, and Security Fund," MEE states. Khalil came to the US in 2023, obtained a green card, and completed graduate studies at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs in December 2024.

British diplomats had kind words for Khalil. Former diplomat Andrew Waller said that to gain his position in the UK's embassy in Beirut, he "went through a vetting process to get the job and was cleared to work on sensitive issues for the British government." Waller said that the UK program with which Khalil was affiliated is a "flagship UK soft power policy."

If I'm in a used Corolla that has already been built and can easily travel 200K+ miles before needing to be replaced then people will just think I can't afford anything better, and I don't want them to get the wrong idea about my love for the environment.

Hahahaha.

The first argument from ConInc was "we must defend Ukraine to the bitter end because the purest, Most Sacred Democracy since Athens is under assault by the hated Russians!"

When that turned out to be one of the biggest ever flops in the history of grifter propaganda, they shifted to "we must fight Russia to the bitter end, because Ukraine is the richest country in the world and we have to loot it before the Russians do."

Now that everyone has pointed out that it isn't, and we don't, the new and final argument is "there can be no peace that might benefit Orangeman politically."

TDS - the last refuge of the neocon scoundrel. Anyone who ever believed a word these scumbags said about Ukraine should go buy a dunce cap and wear it for a year.

Will never happen, because political issues have nothing to do with Senate leadership in either party. Leader is the one who has put together the corporate and grifting contacts which enable him to fund the campaigns of those fellow Senators who support him. This was the basis of McConnell’s power as well. As well as Pelosi’s in the house.

Your thinking on the Democrat primary process is so...not in alignment with mine.

I see 2020 as the establishment desperately trying everything to get 4 preferred candidates in (Kamala then Buttigieg then Warren then Beto), failing miserably, and then settling with Joe who was running consistently in second. They never wanted Joe, they just didn't want Bernie, so they settled with Joe.

You see 2020 as a master plan to get Joe the nomination, the original goal of the whole affair.

If my reading is right, the voting base of the Democrat Party are vastly out of alignment with the establishment, and the establishment can't control the party at that level (they barely could in 16). If your reading is right, the establishment puts on a lot of theater to get what they want from the get go.

441 400 No gloves = much faster to wash off anything irritating.

Like when you have to reach inside a submarine battery cell to retrieve the fucking pen that the fucking officer brought with him despite the fact that it's specifically fucking forbidden.

Sulfuric acid starts itching real fast.

445 Notwithstanding that many seed oils have high levels of Omega 6 fats, which cause inflammation and may complicate diseases such as cancer, it’s the refining process that really makes them toxic. Many are heated, bleached, sometimes deodorized and chemical solvents are used during the process including things like hexane. Some argue the chemicals are removed before the final product is made. *makes OK sign*. It’s one of the first things on the list of food items that major cancer doctors tell you to completely eliminate from your diet. I’ll take their advice over Big Ag.

452 I LOVE potato chips but, correct me if I'm wrong, I think they are about 25% cooking oil by weight or volume and it ain't the best oil, I was working in central Asia years ago, munching on some Turkish potato chips, dropped one on the floor and it left a splatter of oil.

453 Good morning, all, and thanks, J.J.

When there's U.S. Digital Service, Booz AH, etc., I don't get great concern over DOGE & its access to info.

For example, from USDS - "The TechFAR Handbook highlights the flexibilities in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) that can help agencies implement “plays” from the Digital Services Playbook that would be accomplished with acquisition support — with a particular focus on how to use contractors to support an iterative, customer-driven software development process, as is routinely done in the private sector."

It seems the large majority of Federal gov. is supported by "contractor" private sector IT services. And, if so, why are there so there so many duplicative &/or unnecessary position descriptions in every agency of the executive branch?

Also, how could the VA, for example, need 40,000 probationary (new to a position) employees "the vast majority of whom were exempt from today’s personnel actions because they serve in mission-critical positions" in such a short period of time? Because of PACT, or was the expansion really needed to support USDS programs created to work for dishonorably discharged US veterans?

From above, NY Post US News, Noor Abdalla, wife of Columbia anti-Israel agitator Mahmoud Khalil, says she was ‘naive’ to think he wouldn’t face arrest, By Emily Crane, Published March 13, 2025

She didn't take ICE's warnings seriously. Noor Abdalla, wife of Mahmoud Khalil, reported to hold the position of (working) Dentist in NYC. (May she also have been the individual who attended Jordon University of Science and Tech & years later, the Univ. of Toronto for Clinical Fellowship, Anesthesiology? IDK.) And she's a US citizen who met her now husband in Lebanon in 2016 when she joined a volunteer program he was overseeing at a non-profit & then they had a seven year long distance relationship that led to their NY wedding 2023.
(Reuters, Mar. 12, 2025)

That's some interesting relationship & citizenship lines to follow.

455 Probably EVERY local democratic politician or wannabe is a member of the Indivisible 'movement.'

"Our groups" - H-CAN or Havertown-Area Community Action Network; Indivisible Bucks County and Indivisible Lambertville/New Hope (Bucks County, Pennsylvania and Hunterdon County, New Jersey); RISE UP Indivisible Lower Merion, and Indivisible Main Line South. The elitist units, real or pretend otherwise.

Then there's Indivisible Philadelphia; Indivisible Upper Darby; Indivisible West Central PA; Social Justice Indivisible (based in Montgomery County, PA), and Wayne County 4 Action to give the cult that real people, diversity credibility.

Their families will seldom attend the same schools, have the same opportunities, etc. But 'Politics makes strange bedfellows,' indeed.

457 Footnote: I moved out to the country, Southern state, a couple of years ago. When I got here, I asked if they did the recycle tango, and the town clerk said with a wry smile, "We used to offer recycling pickup, but nobody was interested in fooling with it, so we dropped it."
"I think I'm gonna love it here," I replied. "And it was all BS anyway, they didn't really use the stuff."
"Got that right," she said.
