After Downplaying the Price of Eggs for Four Years, Democrats Are Now Babbling About the Price of Eggs.
But the Price of Eggs Has "Plummeted" Under Trump.

The Democrats' major attack on Trump is that he promised inflation would begin to fall on "day one" and it hasn't fallen yet. That was the point of that embarrassing robotic-repetition-of-the-same-message we saw on Monday of last week.

Disgraced coked-up hasbeen loser Al Franken just pushed this Democrat talking point last night. Scott Jennings pushed back.

But bad news for Democrats on that front.

Remember when Democrats thought they had a winning message to combat Trump's popularity by harping about egg prices? They just lost their favorite talking point.

"Instead of leaning into Trump's teardown of the federal government or his alliance with billionaire lieutenant Elon Musk, they're steering to what they perceive as the everyday concerns of Americans -- none more important than grocery prices and eggs in particular," the Associated Press reported earlier this month.

...

According to Trading Economics, after reaching an all-time high of $8.17 per dozen in early March, egg prices have plummeted to $5.51, which now sits below the nearly $7 average when President Trump took office in January.

As the above chart shows, prices were trending up in the final months of Biden's presidency. However, Democrats didn't acknowledge the rising prices until after Trump took office in an attempt to blame his policies for the rising prices.

The ironic thing about the Democrats' attacks on Trump is that he inherited the egg price situation from Joe Biden. The Biden administration's disastrous decision to slaughter 150 million egg-laying chickens in an attempt to contain avian flu is what sent prices soaring. Major restaurant chains like Denny's and Waffle House were forced to implement egg surcharges just to stay afloat. Some markets saw prices reach absurd highs, with a San Francisco Safeway charging a mind-boggling $10.99 per dozen.

It is very important we see some kind of improvement in the rate of inflation. The earlier we see it, the more likely we are to actually win the midterms.

One of Trump's first actions was to stop that and fire the woman responsible.

74 I was (and am) completely baffled by this attack from the Dems.

The price of eggs is going to drop PRECIPITOUSLY once the market raises enough chickens to replace those the Biden administration killed.

Chickens take about ~4 months from BIRTH to when they can lay.

So, by June at the latest, our economy will likely have replaced the murdered layers. (We have very efficient farmers.)

I never thought the Democrats were so stupid that they'd trade a VERY short timeframe attack on Trump's popularity for a medium run slap in the face of Trump talking about how the Democrats said he wouldn't bring prices down and now look at how far they fell.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if they are trying to help Trump.

Many SS recipients received an extra lump payment this month. The media loudly insists this is due to a law or executive order or something that Biden's autopen signed.

One of the problematic red dyes is now being banned. Once again, the media is crediting Biden.

So according to the media, everyone hates what Trump is doing and yet anything that happens that aligns with Trump's promises is actually due to everyone's favorite president, Biden.

I've got a different take on this. Trump's hero is Ronald Reagan. During his first term, Reagan took his lumps for supporting Volcker's effort to whip inflation by hiking interest rates - to the extent that the Rs lost 26 seats in the House and barely hung onto the Senate. The gamble paid off, of course, with the economic boom that followed, allowing him to come back strong in time for the elections. Trump, I think, is going for nothing less than a restructuring of how the gov't takes in revenue, from an income tax to a consumption tax scheme, with tariffs being an intermediary step to that end. DOGE is cutting the size of gov't, and if DJT's successful he'll set the stage to have huge economic growth in the next decade. When he says that he admires the McKinley economy, I believe him. He wants to get us back to those times.

If chickens went extinct tomorrow, most of the world's population would die. It's that important a food staple to the entire world.

Easy to raise, quick to reproduce, cheap enough even for third world farmers to afford.

Deliberately killing chickens is a signal that they want to eliminate the human rance.

172 It is very important we see some kind of improvement in the rate of inflation. The earlier we see it, the more likely we are to actually win the midterms.
Posted by: Ace at 02:27 PM

...now, the Republicans can still win the midterms in a relatively high inflationary environment, but it will involve exposing all the Democrat corruption, along all vectors, over the last ten years (at least). If he can succeed in making the Democrat name as terrible as the Republican name was post-Nixon (btw, the Dems never stopped attacking Republicans even though they cooperated in getting rid of Nixon - they knew a political gift when they saw it), then that could actually overcome the economic headwinds, wherever it is in 2026.

All true, but the risk for Trump specifically is that he'll have about a year. He won't have the time Reagan did. Trump has to keep BOTH houses to even approach a lasting success. Lose the House and the impeachment redux (plus committee control, BTW) goes into its third hyperdrive. So losing a mid-term will be practically catastrophic for MAGA.

200 The “Press” has done a good job of conflating monetary inflation with higher prices - the latter oftentimes in recent years due to supply and demand, supply chain failures, and regulatory BS.

They don’t want the rubes to figure out they have done to our currency. Inflation is a permanent, cumulative loss in the purchasing power of the “money”. The rate can decline, but it ain’t coming back. Ever. Ordinarily in the grand scheme of things, over time the price of goods and services goes down. Not up. Even the 2% “targeted” rate the experts reference is highway robbery. Your asset value is cut in half every 20 years, roughly. Quackery on steroids.

But the rest of the story is it wasn't a evil straight gang who killed the tranny but an evil QWERTY gang.

411 It is very important we see some kind of improvement in the rate of inflation. The earlier we see it, the more likely we are to actually win the midterms.

Fed Interest rates control inflation by making it less desirable for people to Borrow Money.... Debt IS the driver of inflation... as it happens when there is more money created through Banks Fractional Lending then the actual economy (not government crap) expands.

Problem is that for the first time, combined Fed, State and Local Government debt, is GREATER than combined business and consumer debt....

So the greater part of the debt is NOT controlled at all by interest rates... and in fact interest rates make gov debt HIGHER, which then causes more inflation.

The ONLY way to get inflation under control, is to cut Government spending, AND start to pay down debt... which Congress will never do. Trump is trying... but our own Court system is fighting against him.

414 Speaking of falling prices, the astronomically-expensive houses in Arlington and thereabouts are losing value. My auntie visited friends who are freaking out because they planned on selling theirs for a high profit, but the swamp-rats aren't buying.

I am sympathetic to their anxiety, as they aren't politicians or staffers. My house's value still hasn't recovered to the discounted price I paid for it.

At the same time, we can't go back to the overpaid non-profit administrator state.

Trump himself knows that cutting government spending can slow the economy by cutting one of the live channels of income and influx into the economy.

I read it leaked from one of his advisors that he wanted economist to think of a way that they can get the economy going fast enough to offset the budget cuts.
