Evening and morning, late toilers and early risers! Pixy, I use the timeanddate.com site for reference. Their World Clock Map shows Brisbane and Sydney as being in the same time zone. Yet their page for world cities has Brisbane at one hour earlier than Sydney. Is that correct, and if so, why? I set my watch's GMT hand to Sydney time just because, but then you've mentioned you're not far from Brisbane, so I wonder. So with greater internet security concerns at stately VIA Manor, I decided to go with NordVPN's most stripped down offering for a home VPN.
Couple that with BitDefender on the router, and I feel pretty secure from misadventure. My only issue is that Netgear routers do not accept any other VPN install on the router, which would eliminate any need to load the VPN software on each individual computer on the house side of the router. Gotta try to noodle that one out. But so fat, other than a change in my hash, everything seems to still operate well. Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at March 11, 2025 04:10 AM (PaZB8) 11

Top o ta mornin to ya, guv'nor How hard is it to miss an anchored vessel in a plotted anchorage? Not hard. Having a US flagged reserve tanker t-boned off of the UK sure looks like a deliberate hit. AIS confirms. But our IC missed all the signs. Again. Posted by: NaCly Dog at March 11, 2025 04:13 AM (u82oZ) 15
So this took place at the house directly behind the family which we adopted the kittens from.
The husband is out of the country on a mission trip, and the wife is there alone. Needless to say, she is a little bit on edge. But being a farm girl, she knows how to use everything in the house that is intended for home defense. https://tinyurl.com/mwthwzt7 Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at March 11, 2025 04:14 AM (PaZB8) Posted by: NaCly Dog at March 11, 2025 04:17 AM (u82oZ) 17
"Having a US flagged reserve tanker t-boned off of the UK sure looks like a deliberate hit. AIS confirms.
But our IC missed all the signs. Again." Somebody seems to almost be removing chess pieces from the board. I remember a book written many years ago about the opening shots in a hot war being the attack on every refueling asset that the US had. Tankers, arial refueling tankers. Fuel depots, etc. We already don't have enough USNS assets afloat, and I seem to remember us losing another refueling asset several months ago. I'm sure that Sal will write about it soon. The big question is can the populous-backed new administration wrench control of the country from sworn enemies of the US? We get no help from the IC. None. They are on the other side. Posted by: NaCly Dog at March 11, 2025 04:21 AM (u82oZ) 21

My Buick has a touch screen, but a number of the controls are also buttons -- to change the input from radio to media, for instance, or to go to the home screen so you can change settings. And there are rotary dials for volume and radio tuning. I've had the car more than five years, and only last year did I discover that, when in the media mode and running my flash drive, a turn of the right knob displays a list of the songs on the drive that you can scroll through. You have to select the song you want on the screen, but at least the physical controls are there.

That is a big statement. I have seen some very dumb sailors. Especially the one who tried to throw a lit lighter into a JP-5 tank. He was very drunk and angry. We shackled him to the deck. Yes, I've seen unmanned bridges on commercial, Greek-flagged, ships in the Med. 5 long blasts of our ship's horn brought someone running to the bridge, with his dog. NYS is still pushing for all trucks to be EV soon. Trucking companies simply re-register in another state. Dealers in the state are screwed. No way to charge them, good luck with that. 200 mile range and heavy, wear on roads, etc. I hate to say it, but my local representative is the sponsor of the mandate. For 5 years I've avoided violence, tried to handle this the "right" way and its brought me nothing but more pain. I have a DD214 that proves I served as a Marine for 6 years and recieved an honorable discharge and Hoyt refuses to look at it. For someone who says I'm a "fake Marine" she sure is counting on my discipline to keep her alive. It shouldn't be this hard to get a retraction. But I don't think that's going to satisfy me anymore. She needs to suffer as much as she's made me suffer.

It mostly works fine; a little clumsy and I've given up trying to keep the Bluetooth working. But what annoyed me most was that when I bought an HP laptop I could not get the HP laptop to talk to my HP printer. I was finally able to transport a communications module from my older ASUS laptop, and was able to make this HP stuff work. But I will never buy HP again.
