The EU has denied that it deliberately targets US companies under its Digital Markets Act to impose massive fines and loot the treasuries of foreign companies, which is obviously what it does. (Yahoo)
"It applies to all companies which fulfil the clearly defined criteria for being designated as a gatekeeper in the European Union irrespective of where they are headquartered," they said.

"By preventing gatekeepers from engaging in unfair practices vis-à-vis smaller companies, the DMA keeps the door open to the next wave of innovation in vital digital markets," they said.

"Of course, there is no innovation, and there are no smaller companies, because we kill them with our other regulations. Don't quote that."

Yesterday's devotional from "Our Daily Bread" dealing with what we pay attention to said that people check their cell phones on average 100 times a day. I decided to me more conscious of this and realized I had checked it about 15 times.

Here is a prayer by Francis Macnutt. He was an Anglican priest who served as a chaplain in WW1
and he l wrote and gathered together prayers for public and private use. Here is one:

Some people only use the KJV and some people prefer a modern version.. I think whatever helps people read and appreciate scripture is fineI encourage people to modernize the language themselves if it's a distraction so that in this case "didst" becomes "did" , thee becomes "you" and hast becomes "has " I use his language because that's how he wrote it. 😊

62 I find it a happy little accident that English is such a mutable, fluid pidgin of a language that we can basically have our own "liturgical language" that's 100% comprehensible to any speaker of the normal vernacular and yet clearly identifiable as "churchy".

Other people in other times had to learn Latin or classical Hebrew, or learn how to read Glagolitic, or, heavens forfend.... Sanskrit.

We just put a little stank on it, and BOOM, it's immediately recognizable as Bible-y.

What an adventure that has been. They are having trouble finding clear title to 14 acres of it, even though there was a survey done in 1992. We will have to do a limited warranty deed on that portion, but from the research I've done it should be ok. The rest of it has a clear title. This has been going on for over 3 months.

89 Last evening on the way home I hit the discount bakery, and grabbed three loaves of Dave's Killer Bread ($6 each at the regular grocery) and a box of his English muffins for $8 total. And then, at the chain grocery, the jars of dill pickle slices I buy so often were on sale, 50% off (!). I bought two. I hope the store is not going to discontinue them.

The discount bakery outlet has chips and other snacks I don't eat any more, but Linda can, and I usually grab her something too.

As I understand it, the KJV is pretty good at word-for-word translation, but some newer versions like NIV are pretty good at being faithful to the overall meaning using modern English. Not too keen on the looser ones. I am sure some of you have more understanding on the topic than I do.

Marcus T posted info a week or so ago showing how illegals were getting Medicare since the 90s. That's part of the big push to claim the illegals under Biden were "refugees", because they immediately became eligible for the funds.

That's something that should be promoted. All of the people you know that paid for the system and had to jump through hoops to get what they worked for? The government employees decided they weren't important. The illegals were the priority.

I (and others here) use the Brave web browser. Mine is fairly stripped down as I have only two of the extensions for it; one is Google's translate feature. You can tweak it to disable things like scripts, pop-ups, trackers and ads, among other things. You can set these as defaults, or customize them per website.

I have no 3-party ad-blocker on my PC. I've used Brave on Android phones and tablets too.

The NIV strips out some references to the deity of Christ and completely removes Sarah from the Hall of Faith in Hebrews.

There are much better translations than the NIV - a compilation whose translation board is made up of good scholars and outright reprobates.

You want Word-For-Word, try Young's. If you want a good study Bible which is totally useless for public reading? Amplified (because many words don't translate well).

The NET Bible is frustrating (since they seem to deliberately make it different than main-stream texts) but has, by far the best notes on why the translators did what they did.

When not using the original languages, I go to the NET, thougjh NKJV and ESV are very competent translations.
