THE MORNING RANT: A Friday Laugh at European Leaders’ Proclaimed Self Reliance

European Leaders pose with Zelensky.JPG

Following the dust-up when President Trump and Vice President Vance slapped down Volodymyr Zelenskyy for coming into the White House to publicly renege on the agreement that was being formalized, and then demanding even more from the US, European leaders comically asserted that they would stand together and go it alone without the United States.

“The Latest: Britain’s Starmer says Europe must take responsibility for defending itself” [AP – 3/02/2025]

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Europe must take responsibility for defending itself as world leaders met in London to discuss working together to stop Russia’s war in Ukraine. Britain hosted the summit Sunday to shore up support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after an astonishing Oval Office meltdown with President Donald Trump that left many uncertain where the once staunch allies stood.

The prospect of not having to subsidize and provide virtually all the defense for our parasitic “allies” caused Americans to enthusiastically embrace Europe’s response. It was one of those “Your terms are acceptable moments.” Of course, we all know that Europe’s ability to provide for its own defense is as laughable as a little boy asserting his independence by running away from home with his belongings tied up in a bindle.

The sad truth, in my opinion, is that Europeans could not take up arms to defend themselves if they had to, nor would they.

It's Friday, so I thought we might out to have a little fun coming up with funny analogs to Europe asserting its self-reliance. Here are three I’ve thought of. I welcome your additional suggestions.

1) Arthur (Dudley Moore) getting cut off from his allowance and coming up with a solution – he’d get a job. At the 1:00 minute mark of this video he brashly (and drunkenly) proclaims, “I’ll get a job! That’s what I’ll do. I’ll get a job. I’ll work! This is going to be great.”

2) David Hogg announcing he was going to start his own pillow company to compete with My Pillow.

“David Hogg Launching Pillow Company to Put ‘My Pillow’ Out of Business” [NBC – 02/04/2021]

David Hogg Pillow Company.JPG

3) ANTIFA declaring its Seattle “CHAZ” encampment as being a sovereign country, and then launching its agriculture program by laying down some cardboard, spreading some dirt on it, and then throwing some vegetable seeds on it.

“In Seattle’s CHAZ, a community garden takes root” [Cascade PBS – 6/15/2020]

Antifa Chaz Cardboard garden.JPG

On a more serious note, Europeans cannot defend themselves because they have established a pervasive culture of self-loathing. As Rod Dreher notes, ”How is an establishment that teaches Britons to hate their own land going to convince them to sacrifice for Ukrainian nationalism?”

John Hayward (Doctor Zero) offers up an interesting angle to that issue, pointing out that no respectable European takes pride in his own country, so he embraces the flag and nationalism outside his country’s borders. Hayward wrote, ”There is an element among European center-left support for Ukraine that reeks of displaced nationalism. They know their own countries are gone, so they are looking for a flag to wave and a slogan to chant, like sports fans seeking spiritual fulfillment from their fandom.”

For those whose “displaced nationalism” leads them to publicly – and sanctimoniously - pledge allegiance to Ukraine, while not actually offering themselves up to fight and die for the country to which they’ve transferred their patriotic allegiance, Walter Kirn offered up this biting comment, “I have searched, but I have yet to find a scripture or great work of literature in which cheering and funding war from a safe distance is held out as a virtue.”

I’d wish “Godspeed” to Europe as they try to forge ahead, independent of the United States, but Europe has rejected God. Good luck, I guess.

18 Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

That's a dumb question.
It's about teaching them to hate themselves, and the only way to atone for that is to use all that you have to take care and uplift 'the other.'

After they've learned that, the leadership need only define the 'other' du jour.

It turns out that the HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles that Ukraine has been using to strike deep into Russia are useless without American targeting information, which is now being withheld.

HIMARS is made in the US, is maintained by the US, and relies on targeting by the US.

Basically, Germany was stupid because they thought that going unrestricted sub warfare would cause the US to get in. They underestimated how much that Wilson hated war. It was the brilliant brainstorm of the Germans to offer alliance with Mexico to attack and regain the American Southwest that kicked the US into war via the Zimmerman Telegraph. To add insult to injury, the Germans used the special private telegraph service that Wilson ordered the US government to allow the Germans to use for peace negotiations as a backchannel for the German ambassador in the US to communicate with Berlin.

The Brits intercepted/decrypted the telegraph and because the US had the encrypted message already in its system, the Brits gave an American at the US embassy in London, how to decrypt the message. Thus, Wilson could claim that the message was decrypted by an American on American soil. As a bonus, German Foreign Minister Zimmerman admitted in open press conference to sending it. In addition, the Germans sent another telegraph to Mexico, after discovery, demanding war.

Yesterday, at the hospital, we had a meeting about how the situation here and the other Munich hospitals are unsustainable. Clinics cannot handle the number of migrant medical emergencies, so they are starting to send everything to the main hospitals. Many Muslims are refusing treatment by female staff, and we women are now refusing to go among those migrants. Relations between the staff and migrants are going from bad to worse. Since last weekend, migrants going to the hospitals must be accompanied by police with K-9 units. *Many migrants have ADS, syphilis, open TB and many exotic diseases that we in Europe do not know how to treat.*

If they receive a prescription to the pharmacy; they learn they have to pay cash, this leads to unbelievable outbursts, especially when it is about drugs for the children. *They abandon the children to the pharmacy staff with the words: So, cure them yourselves.* So the police are not only guarding the clinics and hospitals, but also the large pharmacies.

Voter ID is the play-acting of voter integrity. No one actually cares about it.

But the GOP fights for it publicly while the Democrats demand its destruction publicly.

However, neither really cares because that's not how elections are stolen. Yes, there are plenty of examples of people voting improperly like this, but the mass scale is done in the counting rooms, enhanced by messy, unclean voter rolls.

As long as the plebes are shouting about Voter ID, both GOP and Democrat can rig their own elections in back rooms all they want.

You ever watch the way the Leftard media outside of politics, will build up a celebrity in the tabloids only to later rejoice in tearing them down? The way they once presented them as a slay king or yas queen, they then revel in their downfall with an almost inhuman sadistic glee.

They do the same politically but it's less obvious. They anoint blacks, they anoint Jews, the anoint workers, they anoint women, they anoint gays, only to catastrophically abandon them (for example - blacks to the inner cities and diminished populations, Jews to the iSlimes and commies, workers to the takers, and gays and women to trans). It's a really interesting dynamic. Very easily explained but still interesting to watch.

It's like the power to elevate and subsequently devour is what they really crave.

149 Ike got burned by several crises in later in his presidency by the IC. The uprising in Hungary causing a crackdown, the U2 flights, the Suez Crisis, and so on. Made him reflective about it late in his presidency. Truman wanted the CIA disbanded post presidency and JFK was leaning that way after Bay of Pigs/Diem assassination.

In my reading on Ike, he seemed to get played pretty often by a lot of people.

Truman's letter about reigning in the CIA published a month after JFK got assassinated should have been a bigger deal, but I guess no one cared what Truman thought by that point.

And yeah, I think it's clear JFK wanted to get rid of the CIA. I believe he's quoted as saying he wanted to "scatter it in to a thousand pieces" or something like that.

One thing never mentioned is that Germany imposed a similarly vindictive and massive penalty on the French for the Franco Prussian war in 1870-71. French paid it off in a few years by a massive effort involving the whole country but it impoverished the French nation and consequently caused the Germans to get the big head. The Germans taking Alsace and Lorraine in that war was the topper and the Germans promptly went about enraging the French over the treatment of their compatriots in those provinces.

Bismarck disagreed with the taking of Alsace and Lorraine--correctly forecasting it would end up biting Germany in the ass. Kaiser at the time disagreed and took them anyway for kicks.

Versailles was the French revenge that replayed 1871 events--taking back Alsace and Lorraine provinces and imposing a similar sized fine on Germany. In fairness, France was devastated as the war was fought on its own ground. The 1871 war resulted in little damage to Germany soil.

181 True. I can never understand why Hitler did that.

Sebastian Haffner, a German "historical journalist", said that Hitler's goal of conquering Europe ended on December 5-6, 1941 when the Russian Moscow counteroffensive pushed the German army away from Moscow, so he was pretty indifferent to how the war went after that point.

Hitler then focused on his second major goal, killing Europe's Jews, which was planned out at the Wannsee Conference on January 20, 1942.

Seems plausible.

It's been said before by someone who is a serious jerkwad.

It's not about who votes. It's about who counts those votes.

Voter ID is a good thing, really. It's not the end all be all of reform though. What stops a county at the end of voting from looking at the total votes cast vs the total voters and then finding votes lost in a mailroom to make up the difference? Not much, sadly.

Posted by: WitchDoktor at March 07, 2025 11:40 AM (ky8PV)

186 I would simply love DOGE or DataRepublican to pool the voter rolls from all 50 states and then look for duplicates, irregularities (e.g. 300 year olds still voting, 150 people registered to vote from the same single family home, more registered voters in a town than its population, etc.).

The Left has implemented so many different ways to commit fraud that there is no single bullet solution.
Voter ID helps, eliminating mail-in ballots helps, cleaning the voter rolls regular as is legally required but never done helps, and on and on.

Another six months and I think they whole front would have collapsed in place with mutinies and revolts at home.
It would not have been inconceivable, for example, for British troops being called to India or Ireland and the North Counties to put down rebellions, or the Paris street to have rebelled against the Republic, again.

Ike's career was a long stint as a staff officer aka unblooded. Fred Greenstein called Ike's presidency as the Hidden Hand presidency where Ike played a genial sometimes befuddled character in public while playing a ruthless passive aggressive game behind the scenes. That meant someone smart enough to hoist Ike on his own petard by make Ike live up to his public pronouncements. Nixon was one such example, and the Dulles brothers running American foreign policy were another. Allan, in particular, was a piece of work. Even Kruschev managed to use the U2 shootdown as an opportunity to lecture Ike about his public pronouncements did not match what he was doing in private.

Staff officers often learn subterfuge in dealing with superiors and I think Ike learned that game far too well and continued it as president.

The German Imperial government in control of Europe would of course have been better than the Nazis, but not by a whole lot. No genocide (at least not of the Jews), but, still, they were a nasty lot.

And they would've reacted to any resistance like they did to the Hereros in SW Africa.

The only possible positive aspect of a German victory in WWI would've been taking out the Bolsheviks in Russia. But they probably would not have been able to take them out entirely and probably would have gotten bogged down in a quagmire there.

And you fucking threw it away for someone else's feels! You destroyed your culture, your, economy and your country because some dumb fuck cry bully whined that it wasn't faaaiir! And now, after decades of demanding that someone else take care of protecting you, you..YOU! Imagine that somehow, somewhere in your pitiful excuse for citizens there are men! Real men! Men who sweat, swear, fight, or fuck without hesitation or restraint!?! YOU BRED THAT OUT OF YOUR POPULATION!!!! Your elites wanted a submissive population to rule and you GAVE THE MOTHERFUCKERS WHAT THEY WANTED!!! You expect daddy America to protect and defend you, and now that daddy has finally told you to stand on your own fucking feet, you think you can easily reverse the damage and find men in your population to protect and defend you.
I could wish you good luck. I won't. I don't believe in luck. I believe God helps those who help themselves. You didn't want God around to interfere. So instead I will wish you an ugly death.

The same footsoldiers that run the eternal vote registration programs for the Dems turn around and become vote harvesters, etc. and poll workers when the elections come around. The operation is decentralized to the local operatives to 'get x votes by any means possible' and that is why they get live feeds on who is and who is not voting at the centralized level using early voting.

Washington state is a cheat by mail state and probably has voter fraud centralized there. Other places, it is primarily an urban tactic by specific counties reporting to state and national Dems.

1941
Posted by: Common Tater

When I was in DC decades ago, that was always a question about the lack of declarations by the junior Congress critters. They were instructed why no war declarations sotte voche since 1941 by senior members.

That is because both WWI and WWII left so many declaration of war triggers to new statutory powers by the president that Congress would essentially become an afterthought. Wilson, for example, nationalized the entire railroad industry using his powers.

FWIW, I also found Dean Martin's drunk act jarring in his roasts and tv shows. Knowing a few real alcoholics IRL and how they behave kinda kills the charm of it for me.

One example of how petty FDR was is how he punished the chair of Montgomery Wards store who was a well known opponent of FDR politically. Ward had a new hq and FDR suddenly demanded it for a military hq after that chairman fought off labor union and government attempts to coerce a labor settlement. Picture shows the chairman of Montgomery Ward literally sitting in a chair being carried out of the building by two soldiers.

336 Europe hasn't been able to field an army in decades, which is why Trump was demanding they actually meet their 2% GDP spending target back in 2016. One could make the argument that if Russia was neutered via a war with Ukraine then they would never have to meet any defense spending target.

Was Biden's fecklessness before February 2022 deliberately an enticement to draw Putin into Ukraine in order to bleed them dry? Was the incompetent withdrawal from Afghanistan 6 months prior the setup to get Putin to believe Biden would just let them walk in?

Maybe I'm giving them too much credit for brains? Then again Christopher Steele, a guy from MI6 did provide a made up dossier on Trump to frame him.

Something to think about... Duplicity and greed can appear as Incompetence and fecklessness. Is there a reason European Socialists always seem to prefer Democrats in power? Fellow travelers
