CBS Fake News: 76% of Viewers Liked the Speech

More Republicans than Democrats watched the speech, so this poll finding is a little skewed, but it's a poll for CBS Fake News, so it's also skewed deliberately to the left.

Three quarters of those who watched the speech liked it, 76% to 23%.

51% of viewers were Republicans, 27% were independents, and 20% were Democrats. Based on my back-of-the-envelope calculations, that means that almost all independents who watched the speech approved.

Most said the speech made them feel hopeful or proud, except for the proggies, who of course felt terrified and enraged, as per usual.

Most said the speech was inspiring and unifying... again, except for the DEI dead-enders.

Most liked Trump's plans, though support for tariffs is soft:

The left is claiming this is a "racial slur," unwilling to concede that Pocahantas is not an Indian at all and that Trump's reference to her as "Pocahantas" is a dig at her for lying about an Indian ancestry to get into college and law school and then hired as a professor -- while taking a diversity slot from a real Indian.

So the people who watch it are almost always people who like the sitting president, resulting in very positive reactions. So... I don't know what on earth you can really take out of any polls.

The bits I have seen were pretty funny though, and the Dems acted like tools. Someone pointed out a while back that we all remembered a congressman yelling YOU LIE to Obama (who was, in fact, lying at the time). Everyone responded with shock, the guy was censured, taken off of committees, and he lost his next election. Now its half the Democrats doing the same thing.

The problem with ACB is the problem with most of the SCOTUS judges R Presidents have picked.

They are picked with an eye towards Judges who believe in "judicial restraint" and not being "politically active from the bench."

So by that very definition, you are not picking people who want to overturn precedent. And we need activist judges if we want to overturn a century of shitty precedent.

The second problem is, it's always reading fucking tea leaves to know what these judges truly believe, because they're bound by stare decisis in the lower courts and are supposed to be just applying the law to the cases at hand. So unless they're some loud activist judge, we have no idea what their true views are just based on their rulings.

Meanwhile, my daughter got evicted from her apartment and all the local charities were tapped out, and if I hadn't been able to squeeze her and her kids into my house, they'd have been on the street.

But also keep in mind that even if none of those 3.5 Million social security numbers are drawing checks from SSA, those are 3.5 million active social security numbers.

How do you think illegals are able to get jobs in the US? Or draw welfare benefits? Or open bank accounts? They use real social security numbers that were assigned to someone else. It would be very valuable to know of a social security number where the person is dead but the government thinks theyre still alive. 10 people could share that social security number, especially if they're working largely under the table. There is no excuse for the database to not be accurate. None.

Let's be clear - Warren didn't claim Indian ancestry until middle age.

She was trapped teaching law in Texas after going to a mediocre law school, got the bright idea of claiming Indian ancestry, and only then did the Ivy League job offers start coming in - first Penn, and then Haaaarvard. (She was the only Rutgers law graduate teaching in the Ivy League.)

It helped that Harvard Law was embroiled in a big fight over the lack of minority faculty when Harvard hired her in 1995 - Harvard immediately claimed that she was a minority, and needless to say was not inclined to look into her claims of minority status.

65 From what I saw, I do have to say that the speech was not enormously unifying but not because of any efforts on his part. As he said, he could cure cancer and end war around the world and the Democrats would argue he's putting doctors and soldiers out of work. Nothing he does matters they will never turn around, and never reach out to him. They will never agree with him.

Which is remarkably liberating. There's no reason to moderate or find middle ground. There's no reason to worry about optics or how people will respond. They'll always respond not just in opposition but hysterical screaming.

I'm most suspicious of forced 'eating right' even for those on the dole. There are lots of less processed packaged meals out there if you want to encourage meal making. You could have a separate treat food card, I used to enjoy snack night a lot as a kid, that was the only time we got them.

251 One of the things about EBT is that the goods that can be purchased with it are a lot different than what was originally set. If this was addressed, and some of the more questionable items removed, it might make sense.

Looking at the labels on a lot of processed foods, "junk" if you will, indicates they're EBT or WIC acceptable. This includes a lot of junk... because they've dicked with a few ingredients and relabeled stuff to fit the definition for WIC/EBT. The feds had a lot to do with this too. Making less nutritious food stuffs cheaper so the graft was higher. RFK Jr should and probably will, be looking into this.
