NATO is dead, bring the troops back home. Posted by: whig at March 01, 2025 10:46 AM (ctrM5) --- To be fair, Cold War NATO was far more responsible. Countries with much smaller economies and populations were able to field pretty massive forces by today's standards, which is so infuriating. They took ALL of the peace dividend, and expect us to keep their borders secure. The Army need only about 100,000 active duty soldiers, mostly consisting of support/training garrison units and a small expeditionary corps. Given the risks to tanks, etc. from a drone filled battlefield, it makes more sense to actually seriously reconsider army weapons procurement, training, and strategies in light of what is going on in Ukraine.

Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd ========= Agree. For a long time prior to WWII and the ensuing Cold War, it was assumed that the Army was only to be used in the case of direct attacks on the US not as an object to send abroad. Marines were the expeditionary force which is why from Tripoli during the Barbary Pirates to the Banana Republics, they were the President's ready response force abroad. @Liz_Cheney Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine. History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for.
Liz Cheney's tweet is being read aloud on news radio and TV all over the world. It is definitely newsworthy. Some are actually calling it: "A day that will live in Infamy". Posted by: Tom Servo True but it also gives leaders with an itch for glory to use the tool of an army that they have whether or not it is appropriate to do so. If, for example, neither France, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Russia had no large standing armies at the onset of WWI, it would have given a longer time to avoid that monstrous war. The Army needs to revert back to a cadre and reserve system which is much more affordable as personnel costs are a major component of defense spending.
This was actually a major discussion from 2006-2011 or so. The Reserve component (National Guard and Reserves) had previously been considered strategic reserves, only called up when major wars occurred. This kept them cheaper, but they weren't as capable, with major issue during Desert Storm and the early days of Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, they're considered part of the "operational" force, routinely going on deployments even today to Poland, Kosovo, the Middle East, Africa, etc. It keeps the service member skills much sharper, the units are better equipped and readiness is routinely tested and proven. But...it's more expensive, and causes hardship for employers, families, and recruiting. Reserve Senior Leaders don't want to go back to the "strategic reserve" model, as it makes them even more "second-class soldiers" than they already are. The active component appreciates the reduced deployment tempo they get. Posted by: Military Moron at March 01, 2025 11:17 AM (JCZqz) 50

49 During the 60s and early seventies, the National Guard was considered by most to be a weekend beer drinking society, designed to avoid active service which could get your ass sent to Nam. Some outfits saw combat like the Hough riots in Cleveland, or opening up on some rock throwing student agitators at Kent State. Now, when I go over to Fort Chaffee I see Guardsmen displaying unit patches denoting tours in the sandbox or the Stan. I think the only time Guard units deployed to Vietnam was Operation Palace Guard with ANG units sent in country.

Putin's problem is that to date no one had honored an agreement with Russia. None of the players have acted in good faith, and acted in ways that, had Russia done so, would have led to general war.
At this point Russia is going to need both very heavy assurances, and it is going to cost more than the EU is willing to give, if they have a choice, and high enough to make the USA cringe. And pretty much the only voice Putin is going to halfway trust is Trump. Trump just displayed on live TV that he is not willing to deal with changes in the agreement. Elon Musk Exposes the "Biggest Scam Ever" "I thought it would be bad, but I did not think it would be as bad as this." X Thread: https://bit.ly/4bpbDtI Elon Musk just exposed what he calls the "biggest scam" in U.S. history during his viral appearance on episode #2281 of The Joe Rogan Experience. The focus of the conversation was government waste and abuse -- and Musk had plenty to say. Musk quickly dropped a shocker when he revealed that the government handed the Navy $12 billion to build new submarines -- and not a single submarine was built. When lawmakers asked where the money went, Navy officials shrugged and said they had no idea -- a revelation Musk heard firsthand from Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine). "There’s a case where I think Senator Collins was telling me about how she gave the Navy $12 billion for more submarines, got no extra submarines, and then held a hearing to say where the $12 billion go. "And they were like, we don’t know. That was it. I mean, basically, stuff is so crazy. Only the federal government could get away with this level of waste,” Musk said. To those of you skeptical of the benefits of running, I can relate my own experience: I started running regularly in my mid-thirties and have run about 20 full marathons. In my mid-forties while running a half-marathon I felt winded, went to doc next day who discovered a 99% blockage in my LAD (major artery). I was this close to a major heart attack while in marathon shape. How?? Doc told me it’s almost entirely genetics…. But regular running did probably save me because… when he did the angiogram he saw that I’d developed large “peripherals”…. Normal sized blood vessels that had grown and expanded from all my exercise and they had taken over the function of my blocked LAD. Doc said my exercise probably prevented a major heart attack. The moral of the story though is; you can’t outrun or out exercise your genetics…

In another eye-opening moment, Musk concluded that the government could save $100 billion a year just by forcing agencies to explain what their payments are actually for. He mentioned how the current system allows the government to send payments with no categorization code, no description, and no explanation -- essentially handing out blank checks with zero accountability. Musk compared this to public companies, saying that if a corporation tried the same thing, it would be delisted immediately, and its executives would “be thrown in prison.” Posted by: Clyde Shelton at March 01, 2025 11:59 AM (P5BPp) Posted by: Dan Crenshaw at March 01, 2025 11:59 AM (9ptcg) 188

Portland area voters have been real big lately on passing special taxes only on the "rich" (people who make more than $125,000 a year), to the point where Portland's marginal state and local income tax rates are as high as New York City's. General population (all comers) distribution curve for Hgb A1c level looks something like this:
https://is.gd/819Evm The median level is ~6.9-7.0%, mean is ~6.2% The ADA defines pre-diabetes as a Hgb A1c in the range of 5.7 to 6.4%. The lower end of this range is well below the populatioon mean and median. There is overlap between "disease" and "non-disease" for any single determinant (lab test). Cutoff values defining a disease are generally set by consensus professional groups and they tend to err on the side of over-diagnosing, hence broad swaths of the general population are designated as "pre-condition". This is ostensibly so that "we don't miss anyone who really has the disease". At the expense of needless testing, expense and anxiety for many with "non-disease". The same thing has occurred with "pre-hypertension" They are defining disease downward. Posted by: muldoon at March 01, 2025 12:04 PM (/iMjX) 201

I would imagine he was recruited before the 2014 coup, so he has the blood of hundreds of thousands of dead Ukrainians and Russians on hands. I don't know if the CIA promised him dictatorship for life, or that he'd get to personally own the minerals and oil or what, but it's clear he feels that the US is betraying him. And I think the Deep State is doing everything they can to reassure Zelensky that Trump is blustering, he will get what is promised. It's a tangled web we weave. Healey at March 01, 2025 12:06 PM (/U5Yz) The way Musk described it with Rogan, he said Bondi and Patel are walking into a hostile building, with hostile personnel all around, and just saying "I'm now your boss" doesn't mean anyone is going to cooperate. So they basically have to go room to room, literally and figuratively, and try to find where the files are. Are they hidden? Are they destroyed? Are there people in the building who KNOW where they are, and can lead Pam and Kash right to them? These are things we don't yet know, but anyone claiming we're not getting info because Bondi and Patel are not trying hard enough, doesn't know what they're talking about. While I wouldn't put it past them, I don't think they're that smart. I think what's really driving this is that the CIA and State Department made a whole lot of promises to Zelensky that Trump does not intend to keep.

There is a discussion in my town farcebook forum about some cameras the cops have put up. I oppose this because I think it will be misused by the cops for traffic enforcement/generating fines.
And the discussion has people making that point and others arguing that it will keep us "safer" from crime But the 'best' comment came from one leftist loon who argued that Elon Musk is going to use the cameras to send his "Nationalist Christian" forces to kill gay people. In International Relations 101, they teach you that when you get to a Summit, the deal is done. All you need to do is show up, smile for the cameras, say nice things, and sign. You don't start to renegotiate the deal. Whoever gave Z-man the advice to ask for more (some Dems or the EU most likely) really screwed him over.

I think Trump's history as a businessman and developer sort of dictates how he approaches politics too.
He's always talking about "making a deal." Which is sort of what diplomacy is all about anyway. You do this for me (us) and I'll (we'll) do that for you. He likely knows way ahead of time what the parameters are and decides what would be acceptable. I think there was one, perhaps implied, and Z-man just felt like jacking Trump around because he didn't really like the terms... or was told to reject the agreement by (pick one or more) various Europeans, Congress persons, lobbyists, etc. Posted by: Martini Farmer at March 01, 2025 12:13 PM (Q4IgG) 222

Posted by: BurtTC at March 01, 2025 12:10 PM (p2iSj) We don't really know what's going on, true. But on the flip side, if Patel or Bondi thought that the NYC field office of the FBI was concealing classified information from their bosses in DC, one would think they would show up at the NYC field office with a bunch of people from DC (or wherever) and say "anyone who doesn't fully cooperate will be fired. You will sign an affidavit before we leave saying that you have turned over everything that you know about. If we find that anyone was knowingly hiding information from the President of the United States, you will be criminally charged with mishandling classified information and perjury." Then I leveled off with weight loss when I was down to 300lbs. Then I went down to 2200 calorie meal plan and started losing again. Until I leveled off again around 280. I'm hopeful they both have learned something about the conservative public's expectations. Posted by: Martini Farmer at March 01, 2025 12:26 PM Something I learned week 1 on the job out of college in 1999: "Under-promise and overproduce." For example, I was a designer. Even if I knew something would take me 2 days to complete, promise it will done in a week. That way, if something goes wrong (computer issues, data goes corrupt and need to begin again, IT problem, etc.), I have that buffer to account for unexpected problems and still get the job done by the date promised. And if nothing goes wrong and I get it done in the 2 days as expected, I look great by delivering the design 3 days before promised. Bondi and Patel should have known better than to make promises they couldn't keep. At the same time, "conservative" "influencers" need to be ignored. They don't really care about anything other than causing drama and getting clicks/views. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at March 01, 2025 12:32 PM (P5BPp) 262

Do we have a word for people who support the post WWII power structure of "international cooperation" where the US is nominally in charge, but everyone is getting rich off endless wars and foreign aid, and no one gives a fuck what the US taxpayer and voter thinks about any of this? Posted by: Harry Paratestes ================= Hmm, that word has to include Americans as well as operators from every continent except Antarctica and possibly Australia. Some word that encompasses parasitism, opportunism, thievery, cliquishness, classism, jealousy, hypocrisy, dishonesty, short-sightedness, rapacity, monstrous self-interest, high-handedness, a dash of inhumanity, a pinch of bloodlust, and physical unattractiveness in addition to the ideological elements you've named. 1) Bondi was told she'd get everything by that date and assumed they were being honest 2) Bondi knew there were files held by other people and assumed setting a public date would force them to do it 3) Bondi didn't bother to check that she had all her documents until after the release #1 is bad and something establishment Reps constantly do #2 is better, but still shows a lack of understand of what she is up against #3 is almost a firing offense Posted by: 18-1 at March 01, 2025 12:30 PM (t0Rmr) That's a good summary. "You don't start to renegotiate the deal. Whoever gave Z-man the advice to ask for more (some Dems or the EU most likely) really screwed him over."
There was no deal. I think Zelensky had been given the impression Trump had some cunning plan that would end the war with a guarantee that Russia wouldn't just pause and re-arm for a few years and then march straight back in, and if he signed the minerals deal Trump would proceed with it. Turned out, laughably, the minerals deal *was* the security guarantee. Which means Ukraine is screwed, as the US is washing their hands, and Putin doesn't see any need to respect any deal or Treaty not backed up by military force and boots on the ground. Certainly not bothered by a few American miners. Everyone knows this, which is why we were so happy for the opportunity to cut them back without WW3 or our own lives at risk. But now it's job done and f Ukraine. US weapons are losing. We have no plan. You're fkd. Putin wins. It's like Obama and Iran all over again. So we'll just pretend to comply because Trump told us to. Then we'll act shocked when people aren't happy with the info and we'll blame some rogue agents in NYC." Because let's be real -- it's 2025. This information is digitized and not localized to some file room in NYC. It should be completely accessible to anyone with the proper clearance from DC. And the originals of everything (photos, CD's, etc.) are labeled and stored in an FBI warehouse somewhere, also likely not in NYC. So they really don't need the NYC field office of the FBI for this. I think you guys are forgetting that this information was collected, allegedly, as part of a criminal investigation.
The FBI is not the CIA. That means the FBI would have to follow chain of custody procedures and everything else the courts would require for someone to be convicted based off the information. So should be an EXTENSIVE evidence list with full details about who touched what, when, and for what reason, everything that was turned over in discovery should be bates stamped with an index, everything that was not turned over should be identified as such and also stamped and indexed. It's not like this information could just disappear in the normal course of events. If it is gone, that should be a major MAJOR scandal involving public trials and dismantling of the FBI. Is NATO dead?
Yup. Trump sees the U.S. becoming a third world basket case within a decade because of deficit spending, so he needs to triage defense spending while ramping up the economy. What Euroweenies take for granted is the fact that the last 80 years the U.S. has taken the burden in lives and treasure on two fronts, eastern Europe (NATO) and exclusively the Pacific Rim. The realignment has to do with seeing China as the primary threat to world peace and the fact that deficit spending has to end soon, and we need to permanently boost our GNP. Putin is a former KGB monster, but that does not mean he is insane and doesn't have legitimate gripes about NATO's incremental expansion eastward up to Ukraine violating the 1990 agreements that eastern European countries (e.g. Poland, Hungary, Baltic state remain neural.) The fact that American hardware was used by Ukraine to strike targets in Russia should rightfully cause us to recalibrate our risks and rewards accordingly. Given the risks to tanks, etc. from a drone filled battlefield, it makes more sense to actually seriously reconsider army weapons procurement, training, and strategies in light of what is going on in Ukraine.

Posted by: 18-1 at March 01, 2025 12:24 PM (t0Rmr) GDP is not a good indication of the size of the economy, because in places like the EU the GDP includes government spending, which is not supported by any real production, just taxation and printing. It also ignores things like farmer's markets, swaps and underground economy which in Russia is huge. In 2022, a person or persons still unknown, severely damaged an electrical power substation with gunfire. Nearly 40,000 people lost power, almost all of Moore County. Repairs weren't completed for nearly a week. If the balloons goes up, the power, water, industrial infrastructure of this country will be under coordinated attack. I'm not sure that the local PD and the state police in our country can handle that, so there goes the National Guard. Posted by: mrp at March 01, 2025 12:58 PM (rj6Yv) 318

My impression: there is a pronounced knee in the curve at about 8.5. I'd say that is where the curve for those people afflicted with diabetes intersects with that of of people not afflicted with diabetes.
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon ********* I suspect you are right. In graphic depictions of patients with a discretely identifiable disease superimposed on a general population (non-disease) curve, the two individual curves each have basically a normal distribution (bell-shaped curve), but when you superimpose them into one curve it looks like a skewed curve, sometimes with a discernible "knee", as you call it. You're not going to win any wars by sending troops into battle.
Sorry, you're just not. And you don't have to go to war with ANYONE in this world, if you just stop trying to control everybody in this world. The U.S. of A. has to wean itself off this notion that it's got to be in everyone else's business. Posted by: BurtTC On the contrary, the Ukraine war is showing how important boots on the ground are, and how their tactics need to evolve with all the new threats. Putin wasn't going to conquer Ukraine with air strikes and drones. As for US intervention...it sucks, but sitting idly by eventually caused problems for us, and then we have a much harder time dealing with it. If we sat out of the Korean war, and the whole peninsula was commie, and the precedent was set, would Taiwan still be free? How about other South East Asian countries? The middle east would be an even greater goat rope. If we didn't support Israel, they'd have been wiped out by now...possibly nuking a few Arab nation Capitols on their way out. Yes, Trump won the popular vote against unbelievable odds, but if you think Team Obama is being any less involved in quiet insurrections than they were during the first Trump administration (Russia collusion, Ukraine impeachment, etc.), you're clueless. I'll remind you that Susan Rice was in the small Jan. 5, 2017 meeting in the WH with other key Russia collusion hoax perpetrators. Zelensky repeatedly declined opportunities to sign the deal in Kyiv and Munich, and requested the meeting at the White House. It later came out that Rice and Tony Blinken, Victoria Nuland, and Alexander Vindman may have been personally advising Zelensky to do this meeting in the way he did -- that they recommended him to be hostile and to try to goad Trump into blowing up. Even though he didn't, and even though Zelensky's actions horrified many normal Americans, the Obama team went on the airwaves to falsely characterize what happened. I think their goal was to have a wonderful performance by Zelensky, an angry Trump appearing to scuttle the deal, and the support of the neocon portion of the GOP to start applying pressure on Trump... https://bit.ly/3DdQxSm Posted by: Clyde Shelton at March 01, 2025 01:41 PM (P5BPp) 359
"This was all orchestrated by the US and EU."
Yes. To stop Russia. "No one at any time was scared of Russia, they provoked a war to make money for themselves and their retard kids like Hunter Biden." The US and EU were not planning a war. They were expecting Russia to invade, and didn't intend to do anything about it. Hence Biden telling them he wouldn't do anything if it was a 'limited incursion' and them offering to evacuate Z. It was only after Z said no, they'd fight and provide the boots on the ground if we provided the weapons, that they switched to doing something about it. Classic cold war 'proxy war'. Cut Russia down to size. Try out the hi-tech weapons and see if they work. They didn't. Russia are beating us, despite Ukraine having everything we've got short of nukes. It turned into a war of attrition where the one whose economy ran out of money first would lose. We lost. And now we want to take on China. There are three threats left: China, Russia, and Iran. None of them respect 'deals'. We tried to do a deal with Iran, and got October 7th. We tried to fight Russia, and lost. Now it's China's turn. They'll take Taiwan within the next few years, and what will we do? Posted by: Realpolitik at March 01, 2025 01:41 PM (99Qm2) 360
I think their goal was to have a wonderful performance by Zelensky, an angry Trump appearing to scuttle the deal, and the support of the neocon portion of the GOP to start applying pressure on Trump to have US Troop commitments as part of the "security guarantee." It was a set-up, in Susan Rice's interesting choice of words.
Instead, Zelensky had one of the worst stage performances of his acting career, and Trump was statesmanlike (against all odds) throughout. Zelensky followed Team Obama's advice to be hostile to a tee, but it didn't land how they thought it would. Surprisingly, one of the most important aspects of it not working out might have been Lindsay Graham's reaction. Had he and other neocons thought Zelensky was being reasonable, Trump would be having to fight (even moreso) the neocon portion of the GOP in addition to Team Obama's dirty tricks. Even the "conservative" neocon pundits on TV last night were admitting Zelensky had royally messed up. https://bit.ly/3DdQxSm Posted by: Clyde Shelton at March 01, 2025 01:42 PM (P5BPp) 361
As you can see from the hostility of the bureaucracy to any Republican oversight, no matter how reasonable or minor it may be, the entrenched bureaucracy and permanent DC apparatus is quite active. That goes quadruple for the deep state in the Intelligence Community. I'd expect more and more shenanigans and to be prepared so that you don't fall for the next information operation. The post-WWII architecture in Europe and the US needs this war to continue or be settled on "US troops on the ground" type guarantees, even though that's not what Americans want.

Posted by: mrp at March 01, 2025 01:43 PM (rj6Yv) There have been two global hot wars in the history of the (modern) world. So we don't exactly have a lot of data points. And in neither of those wars was the US the aggressor. And believe it or not, from 1789 - 1914, the US was not involved in any global hot wars, despite having a minimal military and no deterrence to speak of. I think the mere existence of nuclear weapons may have a little bit to do with why there hasn't been a major hot war since 1945. But unfortunately that means the military industrial complex does not get paid. So they need to spend their time creating smaller endless wars all around the globe to keep the money flowing. Which is what they've been doing since 1945. In fact, we have been in more wars since WWII then we were from the founding of the country until WWII. And until or unless one or more of them attack us, we should enjoy the fact that we can finally get out of the endless wars for a while and spend some of that "peace dividend" back home in a way that doesn't enrich corrupt sociopaths in DC. Let Taiwan worry about Taiwan. That's not our problem. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at March 01, 2025 01:46 PM (uCjyK) Agreed, except maybe on Iran. That Iraq was not actually about freeing the people of Iraq from Saddam Hussein and finding his weapons of mass destruction in order to bring a stable western-style democracy to the middle east? That Ukraine is not actually about our government feeling like we need to Do The Right Thing and spread democracy by fighting against the mean Russians? etc. etc. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at March 01, 2025 01:54 PM (uCjyK) 371
Part of the problem: free navigation and trade. We depend and benefit from these things. They are a direct 'need' as opposed to optional adventurism.
Now one could argue that we 'need' to roll back some our reliance on these due to the export of industry and become more self sufficient, but it would still be a need. Posted by: Aetius451AD at March 01, 2025 01:54 PM (bss/y) 372
But unfortunately that means the military industrial complex does not get paid. So they need to spend their time creating smaller endless wars all around the globe to keep the money flowing. Which is what they've been doing since 1945. In fact, we have been in more wars since WWII then we were from the founding of the country until WWII.

>> There have been two global hot wars in the history of the (modern) world. So we don't exactly have a lot of data points. And in neither of those wars was the US the aggressor.
There have been countless hot wars since 1945. The argument for deterrence was that we’d never had the US and Soviets/Russia directly fighting the other on their home turf. Ukraine ended that. Ukraine showed that deterrence was always more self-delusion than anything. If one side thinks it can get away with a war, it will. BUt for the most part, they do leave us alone. They want to be the regional power in the middle east, as they have been on and off since the days of antiquity. The US doesn't want them to be, largely due to oil politics. Saudi Arabia is certainly just as guilty as the kind of shit Iran pulls, and yet they're one of our closest allies. It's not about ideology here. It's about what Shell, BP and Exxon Mobil want. And not for nothing -- 2/3 of those companies aren't even American. In fact, from what I've read, Castro felt betrayed by the soviets because they essentially used Cuba as a pawn to get the US to pull missiles out of Turkey. Cuba thought the USSR was actually going to protect Castro from the invasion he feared was coming. Which he had every reason to fear, since this was not long after the Bay of Pigs fiasco. It is not just being able to ignore shipping or supply problems because the items are made at home, there are also more underlying things that come from having industry at home. In person, practical manufacturing and engineering expertise for one. Another is agility: you can turn one industry to making other things if the need arises. Speaking of China...
The PLAN (Chinese Navy) has been active down in Aussie land. A couple warships doing "live fire" exercises between their east coast and New Zealand. There are a number of island nations in the South Pacific that are not really aligned with anyone that China would dearly love to have under their umbrella. Plus, there are islands currently held by Japan that the ChiComs would like to take back as well. I'm more concerned with what Xi will do than the dumbfuckery Putin engages in with Europe. Posted by: Aetius451AD at March 01, 2025 02:10 PM In person manufacturing won't help much if companies outsource the design and engineering. Which is what has been happening in the auto industry for at least the past 5 years. At Stellantis specifically. When FCA merged with PSA to form Stellantis, Stellantis immediately began outsourcing engineering jobs. And it was aided in doing so by the ongoing remote working mandate post-COVID. FCA started the purge when they immediately laid off all contract engineers when Michigan forced all companies to work from home starting March 2020. Then after the January 2021 merger, Stellantis started pushing out every engineer and engineering management person they could through "voluntary separations" and retirement packages. After all was said and done, we went from 95% of engineering work in office at CTC to 5 years later 80% of our engineering department is remote "Best Cost Country" contract workers in India and Indians living in Canada. India, where the average IQ is 76 (borderline impaired). Who knows how many other industries have also done this. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at March 01, 2025 03:02 PM (P5BPp) 393
US weapons are losing and the balance of that post makes zero sense.
Posted by: neverenoughcaffeine at March 01, 2025 01:13 PM (2NHgQ) Gotcha. Probably losing. Our weapons mix would play better in a fast campaign, no long-term static lines. The trouble is, can we achieve that against a near-peer? If we get stuck in location than the weapons mix is changing. We'd be wise to observe what's happening in Ukraine and devise means to counter it but, since it'll likely be the case that you need swarms of cheaper stuff, I doubt we'll learn that lesson until a few tens of thousands of GIs not related to the politicians or generals die. They like to spend mightily on unproven and, as shown in Ukraine, questionable weapons systems. The fact of the matter is that where the world is now isn't WW2, and it isn't Korea, and it isn't Vietnam. History shows that the US will as unprepared for what comes next as it has always been - because the generals think it still is those old conflicts. Does anyone else find it deeply unsettling that the primary argument for prolonging the war in Ukraine is purely emotional? The loudest voices advocating for continued conflict are the same hawkish figures who pushed for interventions in Iraq and Syria — people hailed as foreign policy experts and respected leaders. Yet, their entire position boils down to outrage at Putin. They offer no strategy for ending a war with a nuclear power, no clear endgame — just rhetoric and name-calling. If you question the war’s continuation, you’re accused of supporting Putin. These are the people shaping our foreign policy, embedded in influential think tanks and NGOs, yet they seem to have no intellectual substance behind their stance. The emperor has no clothes. The current trajectory carries a real risk of leading us toward nuclear catastrophe. The so-called foreign policy “experts” are nothing more than mediocre thinkers with no real capacity for logic. These are the people steering global decisions, yet they lack the competence to handle serious geopolitical threats. If we want to avoid disaster, we need to destroy their mystique and dissolve their money. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at March 01, 2025 06:30 PM (P5BPp) 408
