Trump wore his Mardi Gras tie. Let's get to some random fun. DOGE, Venice, Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras, and more.

For those of you who may not have heard, I saw the ophthalmologist today, and my eyes are back to normal, so I can restart my targeted therapy treatment (at a lower dosage). This is GREAT news, as this medication seems to be working like gangbusters.
The really great news is that my tumor marker number is back to a "normal" value! It had gone up slightly last week, which was troubling.

I'd actually argue part of the reason we ended up with clowns from 1992-2012 is that our elites were pretty sure they could literally do anything since the US was the sole "hyperpower" and like navel gazing fools they are decided to work from that perspective - because the threat that they could get replaced say with communists if they screwed up enough was now gone.

Trump had a top-rated tv show for years. The Democrats? Not so much. Trump knows entertainment. Everyone who meets him says he is very funny. The Dems are humorless scolds. While Trump can tell self-deprecating jokes about himself, the Dems are a not funny joke.
Trump already knew theater, he just added common sense politics to the mix. A winning MAGA, joined by MAHA, move. Now the Dems are standing up FOR corruption AND wasteful spending. I'd actually argue part of the reason we ended up with clowns from 1992-2012 is that our elites were pretty sure they could literally do anything since the US was the sole "hyperpower" and like navel gazing fools they are decided to work from that perspective - because the threat that they could get replaced say with communists if they screwed up enough was now gone.

Breathtaking. This speech was more of a manifesto/roadmap of what the Trumpian revolution is, will be, and how much he has either accomplished already or has put in place for the rest of his presidency. The revolution is on and it will reorder the entire world power structure.
He steamrolled the Democrats and then paved over them. That was a political shellacking unlike anything I have ever seen before. Staring them down, mocking them and then calling Warren by her proper name, Pocahontas, were Little Z moments. Do it to their faces and do it before the world. They rules of engagement are different and the Dems have yet to find the new rule book.
As for the Dems speech antics/strategy. One of the pitfalls of war is showing up with the last war's ideas. The Dems delivered here by showing up with same tired schtick we have seen during the first four speeches. Pink clothes instead of white for starters - that is some innovation there. Bless their hearts, they did their best to show solidarity against everything Trump but the utterly miscalculated how energized the Republicans are at this moment. That contrast left them looking irrelevant, tired, and petulant.

29 years ago there was an equally revolting case and I come to the conclusion that criminal law needs to be on par with civil law - restitution and penalties. In this case the 'penalty' would be 10+ years in the slam. When that ends come the 'restitution' - they get what they gave. The Warden can waive the penaly phase in the interest on economy, but not the restitution.

Reagan got the check for it, but it took an incredible amount of political courage to stand by Volcker while he was battling inflation. A regular pol would have been shouting for Paul's head, but Reagan didn't do that. Reagan made the same gamble for the USA that Thatcher did for the UK when she sent her Navy to take back the Falklands, and both paid off big-time.

Heard one J-6er prison story. He was in on Federal misdemeanor convictions. They sent him to a Federal maximum security prison, one full of really bad people. When he first got there, the guy said he found out later they were going to kill him because they thought he was a plant; he didn't look like any of them. But one guy talked to him and asked why he was there. He said for x misdemeanor convictions. The prisoner said 'no one comes here on a misdemeanor'. He replied, 'They do if they're a J-6er'. They left him alone after that.
The government set this guy up to be 'Epsteined' in prison. Getting fired/losing pensions are not enough. Real crimes were committed against the American people, including Trump. Let's get on that, Ms. Bondi, instead of the Kakubi Theater Epstein Files release.

She had her last diagnosis in Dec lumps in her intestine etc, so we are were like ok last legs for summit as soon as she won't eat it time. She wakes up everyday eats all her food and takes all her shots. Even the vet was like damn that's a stubborn bitch

Can relate. Mine is 14 also. Kidney issues - and the vet referred to her this week as geriatric. New meds kicked in and she is acting like a pup again! Doesn't see well. Or hear well. But is a princess!

As one that never lived in the south nor visited much, the light research/reading on floats, NO, Mobile, and Carnival was really interesting. I found a 1919 photo about 'show us your legs' but it was copyright protected. Internet rabbit holes.
