CNN is attacking Trump's plan to fire CIA agents by stating that these same CIA agents might steal US intelligence and sell it to foreign adversaries. This, CNN thinks, is a good argument against firing these agents. Terrorist traitors are threatening to take secret US information and sell it to Russia and China -- and that's the reason to keep them in positions of power and trust!

Posted by: Octochicken at February 25, 2025 01:18 PM (oCS0o) Sure. Someone from the CIA leaked to the press the (barely veiled threat) ahem, information, that if there are layoffs at the CIA, they are concerned (they threatened) that CIA employees will switch loyalties and sell out their country. Which is a pretty extraordinary threat to make, don't you think? Or, if we take it at face value, they're saying that their own agents are just one paycheck away from selling out their country. Which means those people should be nowhere near any classified information in the first place, and is hardly a compelling argument as to why they should be able to keep their jobs and security clearances. Rachel Maddow appears to want out of her contract. (Insty)
Maddow then proceeded to impute racial animus to the cancellations of Reid and Wagner’s shows: MADDOW: I will tell you, it is also unnerving to see that on a network where we’ve got two, count ‘em, two nonwhite hosts in primetime, both of our nonwhite hosts in primetime are losing their shows, as is Katie Phang on the weekend. And that feels worse than bad, no matter who replaces them. That feels indefensible. And I do not defend it. Never mind that Reid’s show is rumored to be replaced by a weeknight version of The Weekend, featuring Michael Steele, Symone Sanders-Townsend and Alicia Menéndez. Reid might be gone, but her toxic brand of racial arson remains alive and well at MSNBC. Posted by: Tammy-al Thor at February 25, 2025 01:31 PM (Vvh2V) Truman, Eisenhauer, Kennedy all said basically the same thing. Secret police do not mesh well with a democracy. Because the real threat all along (and was there from the very beginning of the CIA) is that the agencies quickly get co-opted by industry. So it's in America's best interest to overthrow the government in Iran because American oil companies did not want their wells nationalized. You can rationalize that. But it's a slippery slope that slips VERY quickly. Because it's also in American oil companies best interest for oil prices at home to stay high. So maybe that means the CIA overthrows a government threatening to flood the market with oil. Which would have been great for American consumers. But US Citizens have no idea any of this is happening behind the curtains. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at February 25, 2025 01:36 PM (uCjyK) 165

I went to the Revenue Office for a driver's license renewal. Here in Arkansas, runs like a Swiss watch, in and out in about twenty minutes. I was five in line and at opening there was a long, polite line going around the front of the building. Some folks there for tax assessment, and they were even getting in and out quickly. Heaven forbid we we were in PA, land of the morbidly obese angry black woman.

Had that hapen at San Diego airport…. scary airport on a good day, anyway..
Had that happen to me at LAX on a Qantas flight from New Zealand. Early morning with ground fog, so the ground wasn't visible. Normal landing until the pilot suddenly guns the engines, raises the nose, and we start climbing out of there, and do a go-round to try to land again. Pilot got on the intercom to explain: "There was another plane on the runway." Posted by: The ARC of History! at February 25, 2025 01:51 PM (uxCna) 267

Off topic. I have mentioned before that servicing for existing student loan borrowers is a shitshow of crony Dem companies that are all crooks. It's gotten even worse now - turns out, several of the major servicers who took over from the last round (who bailed before major fraud lawsuits rolled in) never expected or intended to even take payments.
With the Biden era freezing of all of these accounts shit was in limbo. It was supposed to resume in mid 2024, but few of these companies were ready, so had to pump the brakes and threw everyone into limbo again because they never fucking hired more than a skeleton crew. Now the credit bureau reporting pause has ended, and millions of borrowers are being auto-reported by shitty Indian IT systems as 90+ days overdue on various amounts the marginally staffed servicers never even told them they owed, resulting in 150-200 point FICO hits. And EVEN BETTER, many who paid off their loans 2020-present are learning that the servicer added a day's interest prior to taking the last payoff.. and has considered them, silently, as delinquent for years. We didn't get caught up here but this is totally fucked. Posted by: heya at February 25, 2025 01:51 PM (Mea9Z) 270

"were destroying" leads a reader to believe that there might be an ongoing process. It has to mean that they were a while ago, It doesn't make sense that they'd be destroying evidence now as a I'm seeing people on twitter claim. They've had a bit of time to get this done. I'm assuming the place has been as clean as it's going to get for a few months now.
