The Morning Report — 2/ 24 /25

PoopReid.jpg

Good morning kids. In some disappointing news, it looks as if we might have to wait a while longer for the SMOD (Sweet Meteor of Death for those who are new here) to put us out of our misery.

The uncertainty of science: According to a short update from NASA late yesterday, new ground-based observations have now reduced the odds that asteroid 2024 YR4’s will hit the Earth in 2032 to only 0.28 percent. . . Expect these numbers to change again in March, when the Webb telescope tracks the asteroid. And do not assume Webb will confirm these numbers. There remains great uncertainty in all these calculations, especially because there is great uncertainty about the size, mass, and make-up of 2024 YR4. It could be anywhere from 130 feet to 320 feet in diameter, and that difference makes these calculations uncertain.

In other words "keep hope alive!" Actually in the wake of Trump's miracle 2024 election landslide victory and now Week 5 of a flurry of positive action being taken to give our long-suffering Republic at the very least a sustained breather if not a fighting chance at a rebirth politically, and societally, perhaps it might be time to put aside our hopes for an actual SMOD as MAGA brings a wrecking ball to the thinly veiled tyranny that has lorded over us and torn us apart since the New Deal.

After all, we still have almost four more years of Trump, Plus another 8 of Vance and then 8 years of Vance's veep as POTUS 49, Please God!!!

With that though, The Vatican is poised for a shakeup...

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni’s one-line statement didn’t mention if Francis was up or eating breakfast. “The night passed quietly, the pope rested.” The brief update came after doctors said the 88-year-old pope, who had part of one lung removed as a young man, was in critical condition. On Saturday morning, he suffered a prolonged asthmatic respiratory crisis while being treated for pneumonia and a complex lung infection. The pope received “high flows” of oxygen to help him breathe. He also received blood transfusions after tests showed low counts of platelets, which are needed for clotting, the Vatican said in a late update.

I am not a Catholic, and I have a deep respect for my Catholic friends and while I know this is a troubling time for observant Catholics, the current Pope in the minds of many has very dubious and troubling stances on a number of issues that are in contravention to not only members of the faith but for reasonable people all over the world. His ties to communism are well known, and combined with his tenure to date is why I refer to him as Pope Fiction and now Potemkin Pope. Should he recover I hope and pray that he receives the wisdom to change his ways and views. Perhaps that is asking too much. In the event of his demise, I certainly hope he is succeeded by a Pope who is more in keeping with a John Paul II. Consdering Francis insane obsequiousness to Islam during his tenure, and in light not only of the 10/7 bloody pogrom against Israel, but that once every Jew on the planet has been butchered at the hands of Islam, the next target will be the world's Catholics. Imams the world over have made no secret that their mission is to turn the Vatican into a giant mosque.

And as we are, or should be, well aware, they are not waiting until everyJew on the planet has been gang-raped, beheaded or rosted alive in front of their parents to go on a spree against Christendom. What happened in Congo last week and got zero coverage from the propaganda media is just the latest incident.

Open Doors International, a worldwide organization which supports Christians who suffer persecution and discrimination for their faith, reports that the bodies of 70 Christians were found in a church in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They had been beheaded by jihadists in the latest horror of the ongoing Islamic genocide of Christians in that country and elsewhere throughout Africa.

According to local sources, at around 4 a.m. last Thursday (13 February) militants from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) – a group with direct ties to the ISIS (Islamic State) terror group – seized 20 Christian men and women from their homes in Mayba in northeast DRC. Later, the militants surrounded the village and captured 50 more believers. All 70 were held hostage for a short period and then taken to a Protestant church in nearby Kasanga and slaughtered, reportedly with machetes. You wouldn’t know any of this by checking in with the mainstream media, partly because they don’t care about the massacre of Christians anywhere in the world, partly because they can’t figure out how to blame Israel and the Jews for the beheadings of African Christians, and partly because they’re too busy ginning up outrage over Trump firing IRS employees and dismantling the DEI grift.

The Islamic crusade against Christendom in Africa has been going on for years if not decades; Just look up Yoko Haram. And elsewhere in the world, like in the Philippines, another outpost of Catholicism in the third world. look up Abu Sayyaf.

Yes, I understand that religious and political leaders such as the Pope and even Donald Trump have to play rhetorical games so as not to offend the sensibilities of some people and to come across as voices of "moderation."

But as CBD and I discussed on the latest episode of our award-winning ™ podcast (here and in the sidebar)

Where were all these "moderate" Muslims we hear so much about in the media when the coffins bearing the bodies of the butchered Bibas children and their mother were being paraded around as ghoulish and macabre war trophies to cheers and ululations from crowds of Gazan "civilians!"

After Hamas paraded the coffins of 9-month-old Kfir and 4-year-old Ariel to the cheers and jeers of its supporters, before turning over the coffins, locked with keys that did not fit to Israel, people looked for something to restore their faith in the goodness of mankind in the Muslim world.
Millions thought they found it in fake quotes from the grand muftis of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
“What we say today in Gaza is a disgrace to Islam, an act of blasphemy against Allah,” Saudi Grand Mufti Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh (pictured above) reportedly claimed in one viral social media post.“Hamas has brought shame to Islam on a level never seen before,” Grand Mufti of Dubai Ahmed al-Haddad allegedly proclaimed.
Photos of the two Islamic religious leaders illustrated with these quotes racked up millions of views on social media. Some even found their way into news stories sourced from social media. The only official statements out of Saudi Arabia and the UAE were vocal condemnations of Israel and proposals for an ‘alternative plan’ that would leave the PLO and Hamas in power under a fake ‘front government’ of technocrats.
Ahmed Al Yamahi, the UAE appointed ‘president’ of the Arab Parliament, accused Israel of a “genocidal war in Gaza” “unequivocally placed the blame for this escalation on the Israeli occupation authorities”, urged the UN to “hold the Israeli government and its settlers accountable for their crimes and violations against the Palestinian people” and and called for Arab unity to support the ‘Palestinian’ cause.
And unlike the fake grand mufti quotes, these were published directly on government sites.

The Saudi and UAE governments issued statements condemning terrorist attacks in their own countries and even some abroad, and many condemnations of Israel, none of Hamas for its treatment of the Bibas children.

"the "palestinian" cause is only to gin up Islamic hordes in the drive to conquer the world and create a giant global caliphate. Nation states, even Islamic ones will cease to exist. "Palestine" will return to where it came from; a conference room at KGB headquarters in 1963.

Psaki-Psircling back to Popetemkin Fiction Francis, when he goes to meet St. Peter, and given all of the above, I hope that one oof the Nigerian Cardinals who certainly understands what is at stake not only in his country but around the world with a resurgent Islam and the globalist leftism that is equally toxic and does noting to defend the faith, Becomes the next Pope.

In other news, Joy Reid, the yammering prehensile-tail-lice-picking/eating barely sentient tree-dwelling primate has been given the boot from MSNSDAP.

MSNBC canceled Joy Reid’s show The Reid Out, which aired at 7 PM during the week.

The leftist network will air a panel show during the timeslot, hosted by Michael Steele, Symone Sanders Townsend, and Alicia Menendez.

Gotta be racism, right?! Michael Steele isn't really black, right? Maybe she can get Al Sharpton to smear feces on her face, drag her into court and get her a big fat settlement like Tawana Brawley. Either that or fit her for a Pope Hat and fly her to the College of Cardinals to be the next Pope!!!

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

22 Musk Warns Federal Employees: Report Productivity Or Face Termination

Why is this causing so much meltdown on the left (besides the fact that they meltdown over anything)?

Mr. Black works for a huge, well-known insurance company. Employed there for nearly 40 years. He's been working from home for many years. At the end of each day, he has to fill out what's called a Productivity Report showing what he's done that day. I suppose it's to make sure employees are doing their jobs and not eating Cheetos and watching TV on the couch. The fact that this is causing such a hair on fire response is a marvel.

28 Trump’s Ukrainian Tightrope

All due respect to VDH, he's another old guy who cannot let go of the idea of "fight the Soviets to the last man".

Putin invaded Ukraine because the west overthrew the government of Ukraine, the now pro-western Ukraine government started shelling the ethnic Russians in Ukraine who didn't go along with the coup, and then the west announced that Ukraine was joining NATO which Putin had stated, repeatedly, was no-go.

The war continues to this day because, after Russia advanced to the outskirts of Kiev, negotiate a deal to end the fighting, and withdrew as part of that agreement, Zelensky - at the urging of Boris Johnston - ripped up the agreement.

Just looking over the final results of the Kraut elections. To try an put kinda sorta in domestic terms. The CDU and the AfD together have 57% majority of the seats in the Bundestag. A near 60% majority.

But no, AfD bad, must firewall them out.

Now, imagine if the Republicans won a 57% majority in the Congress, but the RINOS split off from the MAGA to join with the Democrats to form a 52% majority.

They gave the game away during the campaign. Remember "Our Democracy"?

Democracy = unelected bureaucracy

Similar to teachers*, the government has convinced people that it's how it has to work and will always work. And the public reluctantly accepted it, and 80% or so of the government employees rejoiced when they got their jobs because they discovered it was even better than they'd heard (20% or so are doing 80% of the work, so that's why the numbers aren't higher).

And now the public found a champion that said "Hey, let's get this house in order. What do y'all think?"

And that's a threat to their Democracy.

* Pay us more, $80K/year with no advancement/expectations and summers off isn't enough to scrape by on

It's actually worse than that, if you look at the lunatic proportional representation system the Krauts use. Looking at the German electoral system, I've come to realize what abomination proportional representation is.

Without going into the lunatic details, if you look the district vote (equivalent of our congressional districts), togethe CDU/CSU and the AfD won about 90% of the seats, if not more. The SPD and Greens won a few districts outright. Just a smattering.

So, using the FPTP metric, you can say the German people voted for a 90% "rightish" parliament.

The "what have you accomplished this week" question is so simple and brilliant, and people who do their jobs have no problem with it. I could see how it would be terrifying at a DMV equivalent type place, but imagine even at a post office or some sort of power plant.

The people who do the bare minimum will answer that. I did what my job required. Mostly. I skipped some stuff because nobody ever really asks about that and the one time they asked me to do it I screwed it up so badly that we had to shut down operations for two hours, so I am not asked to do that stuff any more. But they can't fire me because I'm past probation.

The guys that do the work? I did the basic requirements of my job. I also did X, Y, and Z, on Tuesday and Wednesday, and helped this co-worker and that co-worker accomplish these tasks on Monday and Thursday.

62 My experience w Muslims has been on a par with what I think are Christmas/Easter Christians. You know, the type who only go to church on two holidays but otherwise don't have a religious life.

At least a few probably have claimed the label for political advantages, but by and large they were Muslim in name only. I don't know how widespread that is, but since C/E Christians aren't an insignificant group, I'm thinking the same is true of other religions too...

66 My two cents on the German election:

1) I know 20-21% for the AfD looks bad, but it really isn't. The party nearly doubled its vote share from the last election, and it made a clean sweep of the former East. Even in the West, it got a pretty respectable haul. The party's in good shape from that perspective.

2) Germany is likely set for a CDU-SPD coalition. The two parties should have a narrow majority of seats in the Bundestag, it would be a lot more stable than a three-party coalition, and trying to include the Greens, who have been unapologetically open borders, would be far trickier.

3) That said, I'll still be surprised if the coalition lasts. There's still a big gap between the parties, and the SPD is very suspicious that the CDU won't adhere to the anti-AfD firewall. It'll last until the war in Ukraine is resolved, I think; after that, all bets are off.

68 28 Putin invaded Ukraine because the west overthrew the government of Ukraine, the now pro-western Ukraine government started shelling the ethnic Russians in Ukraine who didn't go along with the coup, and then the west announced that Ukraine was joining NATO which Putin had stated, repeatedly, was no-go.

Posted by: I used to have a different nic at February 24, 2025 07:52 AM (ExV1e)

— —

That was the outward-facing casus-belli for the world.

While Putin was definitely concerned about the eastern encroachment of NATO, the real reason for the war was always to keep the Crimean peninsula in Russian hands.

Putin will go on and on about historical and ethnic ties between Russia and Ukraine as a reason for the war, but it has always been about Crimea, the Black Sea and access to the Mediterranean.

The Donbas is a side issue that was convenient as the area forms the natural land bridge to Crimea that Putin desired all along. The Russians knew they could not depend on one bridge from Russia to Crimea forever.

Putin took what he needed under the cover of a Ukrainian civil war, that he started in 2014, by coming to the rescue of the Donbas from those “Ukrainian Nazis” and the West.

Hardly, the software industry has been doing daily "stand-ups" for decades. Small teams meet for no more than 10-15 minutes to, in theory, keep the team apprised of what is going on, what projects are at what point, and what impediments are in the way that others on the team may be able to help remove.

Occasionally, there are "parking lots" where after DSU, those who wish to remain can discuss ad hoc topics that aren't appropriate for the DSU, but have interest in other team members.

its hard to fake slacking off when a person is accountable to the team every single day. No different than justifying to the client what that invoice represents.

Musk Warns Federal Employees: Report Productivity Or Face Termination
==============

My Fed friends at a medium-sized agency received emails yesterday from their mid- and upper-level managers, to not send the email pending send/do not send instructions.

My 2-cents worth -
I thought about this last night. Working on five different tasks in a week is not the norm for everyone. Designing a landing system, working on a case at FBI or DoJ, stress analysis of a structure, preparing a site plan for a new building, can be the only task a person does in a particular week. Does Elon want a breakout of tasks such as looking-up material properties, talking to the judge in chambers, and so forth? What use is that sort of info?

An interesting day ahead.

119 REPORT: The Department of Education just got BUSTED running a rogue “sanctuary program” for illegal immigrants while hiding secrets from DOGE and Congress via an encrypted messaging app.

This conspiracy was revealed by Project Veritas, which dropped a bombshell video exposing Travis Combs, Branch Chief for Applied Innovation and Improvement at the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).

In the undercover footage, Combs admits that DOE employees are intentionally using the encrypted messaging app Signal to hide internal conversations from oversight.

“If you want to have a conversation with somebody, you do have to take it offline, but you’re not supposed to. So, everybody uses… an app called Signal now,” Combs said.

Even more alarming, Combs revealed that the DOE deliberately avoids asking about citizenship status during student enrollment—despite the federal government’s responsibility to uphold immigration laws.

“The one nice thing about the program that I work in is that we don’t ask [citizenship] status, and we’ve been able to keep that out of our federal statute,” Combs stated.

He admitted that “if Congress actually knew” about this practice, “there would be a lot of uproar.”

120 Merz has put out trial balloons about tougher measures against asylum seekers, that’s their favorite euphemism over there, and to start deportations en masse,

But he will be forced by the election results to partner with the SPD and the Greens because of the AfD firewall.

The SPD and Greens may compromise somewhat due to the political reality, but like our Dems and GOPe they are going to prefer window dressing over concrete action.

The problems, as I see them, are going to arise if and when Merz decides to put a bill up that SPD & Greens will reject but AfD will gladly vote for and the bill will pass anyway.

This will cause a lot of friction in a fragile coalition but I can see CDU/CSU trying this para-coalition strategy with AfD to get legislation through that would otherwise be rejected by the leftists.

140 As a decrepit lawyer, here's an accountability idea for government workers: bill your time. You must, in one-tenth of an hour increments, account for every hour of every workday. In addition to the amount of time spent on each task, there shall be a detailed description of the activity, with references to tangible documents and names of people involved in the task.

If people don't comply, fire them. If they do, you'll learn a lot about efficiencies and allocation of resources.

Democrats are anxious to rebuild their party on the heels of President Trump’s victory in November. But they have a major problem as they try to refashion their brand: The money isn’t there.

“I’ll be blunt here: The Democratic Party is f‑‑‑ing terrible. Plain and simple,” said one major Democratic donor. “In fact, it doesn’t get much worse.”

A second donor was equally as pointed. “They want us to spend money and for what? For no message, no organization, no forward thinking,” the donor said. “The thing that’s clear to a lot of us is that the party never really learned its lesson in 2016. Designing a landing system, working on a case at FBI or DoJ, stress analysis of a structure, preparing a site plan for a new building, can be the only task a person does in a particular week. It does bring up an interesting question though: how much does the party (either one) actually operate on donations from constituents?

If you take away USAID and foreign donations (which are just really bribes) how much of the money actually comes from US citizens as an active 'donation'? 'I like the cut of your jib, so I am sending you money.'

The disconnect between the popular culture in either party and the actions of the actual pols would seem to indicate that it is quite low.

201 143 I thought about this last night.

I have no idea what the review purpose and plan are. Elon likely has keywords in mind to use as screens and flags. I bet some emails will be reviewed by DOGE personnel. Randomly-selected, flagged ones, many from particular sub-divisions in departments and agencies, TBD others? I expect the initial screening/flagging will ID orgs to Elon that need DOGE priority.

It is now a system that prizes speed over value and pushes extreme effort that burns people out and eliminates engagement. Scaling frameworks are garbage and always create more bureaucracy. And leadership rarely if ever lets go, which adds to the red tape that Agile is supposed to get around.

220 When Cicero undertook the prosecution of Verres, the corrupt and tyrannical governor of Sicily, he prepared several orations. Verres had abused his gubernatorial position and terrorized the citizens of Sicily, who implored Cicero to protect their rights. Cicero’s rhetoric was so compelling that he only needed to deliver the first of his prepared speeches to remove Verres from office.

Verres was advised that his best choice was to go into voluntary exile to avoid further lawful punishment. Although his job was done at the first hearing, Cicero nevertheless published the entire material he had prepared. To this day, it remains a testament to his exquisite prose, the in-depth research he had conducted, and the superb strategy he had devised against Verres’ famous and handsomely paid defense lawyers.

Dems could win the House in 26 (I doubt it, but it's possible).

And yet, the cabinet will still be tearing out regulation by the ream, firing employees by the tanker full, and bankrupting reliant outside organizations that rely on government cash to run.

That doesn't get reversed, or even end, if Dems get the House.

The German people voted for change. Less immigration, less green crap, less Ukraine, less political correctness.

And because they choose the CDU as that agent of change they will get none of what they want.

BTW, the particular CDU leader is an interesting guy - his backstory should have produced a better leader than the Germans are about to get. Merz was Merkel's primary "rightwing" opponent for a long time and he made his bones as one of the most pro-American German leaders during the late cold war period.

343 Et tu MSNBC? This is their DEI purge - designed to look like it isn’t what it is…

Replacing Joy Reid with the trio of Symone Townsend Sanders (who I personally find awful), Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez is a cover. This new replacement programming will sink fast and then will also be “canceled”.

Joy’s show has been a great source of factual information and news, while countering reich wing lies and opinion shows. Funny how Morning Joe ratings tanked yet they have been allowed to stay on air yet Joy is instantly removed. Is MSNBC bowing to this fake DEI crap?

Your theory might help explain why Chris Hayes still has his show four nights a week despite his low ratings.

Chris Hayes is married to the daughter of an executive at NBC. Kate Shaw, a professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Supreme Court contributor for ABC News

They should give Joy the 4 hours per day that are wasted on Morning Joe. Or split Morning Joe into 2 hours for him and 2 hours for Joy Reid. As it is now I never turn on MSNBC in the morning. If enough viewers complain about Joy being cancelled, maybe they would do that.

For now, I kinda like that he seems a bit crazy and unbounded. We need this in the short-term to do the kinds of changes needed quickly. If it also puts fear in the DC status quo, it's a bonus. Maybe resigning isn't such a bad option vs. awaiting the next email from Elon, or meeting with the DOGE team? Yes, we need a majority of the fedgov bureaucracy to think that.

But Musk's email went out to everyone. The leaders of these various organizations have told their people to disregard the order from DOGE. I don't see Trump countermanding his entire cabinet for Musk on this. And I don't see how anyone can see this as any sort of win for Musk.

here's some fun from reddit! titled "FedGov feels like a hostile workplace now:"

"What I saw last week can’t be unseen. Everything was going normal and suddenly a good chunk of my coworkers got an email asking them to turn in their equipment. The next day I saw half my office get walked out. The office essentially became a ghost town. One of the senior agents was in tears seeing the office getting gutted like that. I physically felt unwell when I got home that day. I lost a lot of hard working agents for absolutely no reason other than some dumbfuck egomaniac gets a high from firing people. If that wasn’t enough, we just got this “what did you do this past week email”. Like wtf are they even trying to do? I can’t even focus on my work due to all this hostility and threat. Gosh idk if I’m next now. How is this even efficient or productive?"

And, with possibly even worse news for our pocketbooks: Lawmakers are once again pushing to give federal retirees full cost-of-living adjustments on their annuity payments. Senate Democrats reintroduced the Equal COLA Act this week. (Equal COLA Act - Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.))

Already, the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) provides retirement benefits to federal employees through a combination of Social Security, the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), and a Basic Benefit Plan.

>The TSP is an account that the government automatically sets up for employees, and it matches (only) FERS employee contributions to the TSP up to 4%!

FERS also provides death benefits for spouses, children, and former spouses, and FEHB medical.

Surely Sen. Alex Padilla, like AOC & the rest of the Squad, is under FERS.

My "new" Project Engineer just uses the word "scrum" for a meeting where he can micromanage everyone that always goes on for a hour plus.

He never reads anyone's messages to the group or to him. Everyone has to backtrack and tell them what happened before he can give them new orders.

He's Chinese with a terrible accent and I don't think he is fluent enough to read English very well. Engineering requires very precise use of language.

456 Oh FFS.

OPM has standard requirements not only per job but per GRADE within the job. Sub-agencies then write their work standards per job category.

Over the years, a lot of employees have been both hired and hidden within lots of duplicative, administrative positions such as Program Analyst. Also sub-agencies job performance requirements got very vague vs. specific to needs & requirements of the agency , i.e., time management, getting along with coworkers, v. actually accomplishing what needs doing. Unions argue work/ees. cannot be judged by #s.

What's difficult about saying I worked one day as Customer Service rep for the unit and assisted X number of customers and wrote two referrals to other agencies; for two day, I wrote up field inspections conducted at two locations; met with solicitors &/or managers abt. 2 cases in progress;, worked on statistics for a possible national emphasis program, and so on. What? That's the jobs!

And because it/they should already match what's entered on biweekly timesheets, yeah it could be a trap for both managers and employees.

But when isn't it for most lawyers, sales personnel, etc. & those that work 'at-will'?
