Poll: Only 22% Approve of Congressional Democrats' Job Performance, Putting Them at a Net -46% Approval

Republicans are at -12, with 40% approving, 52% disapproving. I'm part of the disapproving group. They're useless and pro-Democrat.

The only reason they're voting for Trump's nominees is fear of Trump and Musk coming after them:

GOP senators are terrified over the prospect of facing primary challengers funded by Elon Musk if they stick their necks out by opposing President Trump's agenda.

The White House has signaled that Republicans who thwart Trump's agenda by voting against his controversial nominees or opposing efforts by Musk to freeze government funding and slash federal agencies, such as the U.S. Agency for International Development, will pay a political price.

And that's a threat that carries a lot more weight when Musk, the world's richest person, could easily pour tens of millions of dollars into a Senate Republican primary.

Musk warned Republican lawmakers in December that he was compiling a "naughty list" of members who buck Trump's agenda. He also pledged shortly after Election Day that his political action committee would "play a significant role in primaries" next year.

At the time, the threat was seen as mostly aimed at rebellious House conservatives who loomed as an obstacle to reelecting Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and threatened to derail Trump's tax agenda by insisting on major spending cuts.

But Republican senators have taken Musk's warning to heart.

The same thing is going on with Democrats. Not only do Republicans hate Democrat congressgrifters, but Democrats hate them for their ineffectualness and frequent descents into self-parody.

22% approve of Charles Schumer and the Democrat Gang of Idiots and Grifters, while an enormous super-majority of 68% disapprove.

Let's have the midterms next week!

Frank Luntz had more bad news for the left and the media (BIRM): In his focus group of literal swing voters -- voters who flipped from Democrat to Trump -- they "love" what Trump and Musk are doing.

CNN anchor Brianna Keilar noted on "CNN News Central" that Luntz runs numerous focus groups and that he has been talking to "a number of voters who were Hillary Clinton 2016, Joe Biden 2020 and then went for Trump in 2024." When Keilar asked how these voters perceive Trump's second term so far, Luntz responded, "pretty well," emphasizing their appreciation for decisive action in Washington.

"They're reacting to it because they love the pace of change. They were very fed up over the last four years. They wanted action. They wanted results. They looked at prices. They looked at affordability. They looked at immigration. And they didn't see anything happening," Luntz said. "They still don't like what he says, but they like what he does. And these are Democrats now who felt that they were not securing the border. They were doing nothing to prevent illegal immigration, that nothing was actually happening."

Trump immediately took action after being sworn in to his second term on Jan. 20, signing over 200 executive actions within 12 hours, addressing issues ranging from the border crisis to the economy.

"They wanted to see a reduction in wasteful Washington spending. And they're seeing that. So what they tell me is, 'I wish he would be a little bit less rude,' but at the same time, they like what he's doing," Luntz continued. "They believe he's serious about it. And for the first time, they have confidence in the future, which is why you now see some significant shifts in the polling about the expectations for the direction in the coming years."

I assume the number you see below -- +84 for Trump -- is the aggregate of the public shifting to support Trump on 20 different positions. It's the cumulative total shift, not the shift in one area.

Scott Rasumussen talked about this big shift across 20 issues:

Scott Rasmussen
@ScottWRasmussen

Stunning numbers from @YouGovAmerica. It's no surprise that voters trust @RealDonaldTrump on immigration, the economy, inflation, an trade. But the YouGov survey shows most voters trust him at least a little on 18 of 20 issues including the environment, race relations, and abortion.

The only exceptions are transgender issues where voters are evenly divided and LGBTQ issues where 51% do not trust him at all (but 49% do).

I would guess the most shocking numbers to Dems would be that 58% trust him on the Supreme Court, 56% on guns, 55% on Democracy.

This suggests that @realDonaldTrump
has picked his enemies well in the early days. He has put D's in the position of having to defend illegal immigrants and the federal bureaucracy. More than 80% of voters consistenly say illegal immigration is bad for America. 60% believe the federal government is a special interest group that primarily looks out for its own interests.

34 Trump's intentional movement through govt waste in the order he's taken has been brilliant.

Start with something no one really knew about (USAID), show massive fraud.

Move to the IRS and have them complain to the public that officials were investigating their finances. People laughed, Trumps numbers go up.

Move on to SS and watch people resign. "Why is that?" People ask, and his numbers go up.

All the while ending the Ukraine war and going to show the massive waste involved.

He'll have 80% approval before the end of the year.

43 I think the defining theme of the last 20 years in American politics is: America looking for an outsider to fix DC.

The framing for a while was decidedly partisan, going from W to Obama, but Obama, not being well-known and new to DC, was seen as someone outside the machine (he was just part of the Chicago machine which took over the DC machine).

After that, the GOP bungled things with a technocrat in Romney against Obama (though, again, I think 2012 was stolen), feeding the idea that "outsider" meant "outside of the party in power".

And then, in 2016, Trump clarified to the American people that no, you didn't need to be part of the system. You could find outsiders...outside of the system, and he blew everything up just by being an outsider with a shot.

Now, the outsider is running things while the entire insider apparatus is still against him.

Of course, Trump's popularity isn't going to dip now. He's still the outsider, and now he's fighting offensively against the insiders instead of defensively like in his first term.

52 He has put D's in the position of having to defend illegal immigrants and the federal bureaucracy.
--------------------

As detailed here by yours truly often in 2017. Trump, kind of good on branding, has spent the better part of a decade nearly singlehandedly remaking both parties in the eyes of the public.

He cornered them on every major issue and forced them to embrace their crazy even more than they already were - essentially turning their strength, being a bunch of crazed fucking idiots forcing their insane bullshit on everyone in lockstep, like it or not - into a weakness by offering a reasonable alternative, or at least one palatable to a plurality, on practically every single major issue.

So while the Dems pointed their fingers every day and told you he was crazy, chaotic, out of control, bizarre, etc, he stood firm, didn't waver or buckle unless absolutely forced, and let them gradually show themselves for what they really are.

But it was probably all a big accident because he's an idiot and really wanted to put his liberal sister on the Supreme Court if only the Left hadn't been mean to him.

101 The Democrats are owned by the loony left. Trump smoked them out on everything, let them fly their freak flag on everything to the point where it turned a lot of normal people off. They weren't in a position to agree with Trump on even the most normal stuff (men and women are different, we need a border, let's have a strong military, let's not pervert our children) and so he took advantage of it over and over and over.

The problem is it will only take approximately 4 years of bullshit from the Republican "old guard" to fuck up everything he and the new class of Republican governors etc have done, and make people run back to the commies.

You can practically smell it from the TOUGH talkin Republican skunks - "Hey we haven't gone to war in a while!" - "Rape is God's plan!"

Trump's approval rating stood at 47% in a January 20-21 poll conducted in the hours after the Republican's return to the White House

The share of Americans who disapprove of his presidency has risen more substantially, to 51% in the latest poll, compared with 41% right after he took office.

He so very vain... bad poll numbers and public opinion matter a great deal to him. Sadly, all he has to do is claim his poll numbers are much higher, and those poll numbers are fake

It's 47% for his "best" issue: immigration. That's not particularly good. And of course, 44% approval for a new President is historically low. No honeymoon period. You know the corporate media is dying to call him "popular" but I think they're gonna have to normalize him some more before they can do that.

So depressing that the number isn't more like 22%. 44% of Americans are brain-dead.

Both parties became playthings of major donors a couple of decades ago. The GOP is on a break with its major donors because of Trump. Democrats are not.

And we've discovered that donors seems to mostly be NGO executives who act as cutouts to government grant money.

Yes, Democrats only care about keeping the waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government: they haven't had to think about appealing to anything else in decades and have no idea what an actual voter is anymore.

As more and more corruption gets exposed, we may well see quite a few of these corrupt politicians getting either prosecuted, allowed to resign in lieu of prosecution, or suddenly becoming oddly cooperative (having secretly turned on their puppet masters). Anybody notice how this is going down with the organization and speed of a military operation? It seems pretty obvious that it's the biggest counterinsurgency operation in history.

Just imagime what's going to happen after the 2026 elections, when a much higher fraction of Congress are actually working for their constituents. That's when everything Trump is doing can be made permanent.

I doubt it. Even the ones mostly true probably had nonsense in them. Too many people had too much to gain, and no neutral party was reporting that I could see.

Honest reporting would note that Russia is run by a crime boss who wants to grab land from all his neighbors and Ukraine is run by a cabal of world leaders using the place to launder money and enrich themselves, run by a dictator served by Nazi troops. There is no good guy here, except maybe the people of Ukraine and Russia caught in the middle and dying for their leaders.

That's pretty much what Jay Hammond did with the Alaska Permanent Fund, way back when. A small portion is dedicated to annual individual payouts, which means that any politician who proposes raiding the Permanent Fund is buying a one-way ticket to Tar-and-feather-ville.

The Fund is still intact, more than 40 years later. In fact, it's grown a lot, even accounting for inflation.

Actually, the Vatican has always had a quiet contempt for American Catholics. Freedom of religion is fundamentally counter to the church, and American Catholics (not understanding Catholicism very well) think religious issues should be VOTED ON. They don't understand that you're supposed to shut up and believe whatever the church authorities tell you.

They don't give a crap about "millions of Americans".
