Welcome to another presentation of Club ONT! A collaboration of your Sunday through Wednesday ONT Crew - The Disco, The Doggo, and The Dino. Regular Club members are encouraged to mingle amongst yourselves. Lurkers welcome to congregate on the observation deck, but please don't be afraid to mix in on the main floor. This --- is Club ONT!

Saturday Night Joke

An Irishman walks into a bar. He orders two shots, drinks them both, and then leaves.

The next day, the Irishman returns, orders another two shots, drinks them both, and then leaves.

He continues to do this for some time, when one day the bartender questions him, “How come you always order exactly two shots?”

The Irishman replies, “well, you see my brother and I used to go out drinking every night, but he lives across the country now, so every night, I order two drinks. One for myself, and one for my brother.”

Things remain the same for a while until one day the Irishman comes in and orders only one shot. The bartender becomes concerned and asks him “how come you’re only ordering one shot? Did something happen to your brother? Is he ok?”

The Irishman replies, “of course not, my brother’s fine. I just quit drinking”

The Club endorses pirate hats. And eye patches, plundering, and booty.

[doggo says: I sea what you did there]

Drink of the Night

Duck Fart

duck-fart-shot.jpg

Once you get over laughing about the name, you’re going to love the taste of this Duck Fart Shot!

It’s fun to make and even more fun to drink!

A Duck Fart is a layered shot with Kahlua, Bailey’s Irish Cream and whiskey.

The Kahlua is the bottom layer, the Bailey’s floats on top of the Kahlua for the middle layer and then a good amount of whiskey gets poured on top of the Bailey’s.

Said to have originated in a bar in Alaska on a slow night when the bartender and an older woman were testing recipes. The woman drank a few here of these and then came up with the name “Duck Fart”.

[Disco says: Ducks are funny. So are farts.]

[Dino says: Funny, but now brace and prepare for duck puns and quack quack jokes in the comments. Glad the comments do not have smell-o-vision.]

The Disco is now reminded of something...

That song is featured in this 30 minute video. 14 Terrible #1 Songs from the 1970s

[Disco says: C'mon man! Some of these songs are AWESOME!]

20 Read a hilarious story last night:

A candidate for the provincial legislature in Ontario has been forced to drop out.

The candidate, a professor of sociology and women's studies and a self-described DEI advocate (of course) was caught on tape saying that she wanted to be a black woman (she is white), because then she would have "lived experiences" of poverty, addiction, and alcoholism.

Naturally, she claimed her decision to drop out was to avoid being a distraction.

In the first few minutes one scientist had bolts in her face, then there was scene with a bunch rainbow flags, and then some guy that could have be David Hogg. Given all the other gay stuff it was pretty easy to conclude he like to bite the pillow.

I didn't last beyond that but I wouldn't be surprised if some drag queen got on screen later to explain how dino birds were transgender and didn't evolve into birds but transitioned into birds.

A "deconstructed" Mudslide, with less cream flavor and more whiskey flavor? Sounds like a winner to me.

A mudslide is Kahlua, Irish cream, vodka, and heavy cream. Not layered. Often sorority-girled up into an ice-cream-sundae drink.

Understand the anxiety, but hip replacement is the easiest joint of all. Abide by the pre-surgery instructions. Drink Gatorade or similar in the two days prior to surgery. Ice is your friend. Ask the Horde for prayers. Follow the PT and realize that you get out of it what you put in to it. Now is not the time to phone it in. Regain mobility as quickly as you can since it will help in the long run. I had both knees replaced and very little pain. It's a miracle and I now look forward to gym day!

Prayers up for successful surgery and fast healing!

Replacement? If so, it is one of the most rewarding surgeries, as far as quality of life improvement.

They will have you up and around day of or the next day. You can go home after you produce a bowel movement and can climb some stairs. Good drugs. The new wound dressings are great -- you can shower with them.

You will want a bath bench, a raised toilet, a walker, and a sock donner. Do all of your physical therapy for maximum gain of strength, stability, and range of motion. Limitations on how far you can bend are temporary, but respect them until your therapist or doctor gives you the okay.

Anything else you want to know?

125 Oldies --

Just the other day I was remembering when our daughter was young and listened to the Oldies station, which back then was the music I grew up with. The station was doing a countdown of the top 1000 songs over a weekend, and it got pretty good toward the end. After much build-up and anticipation, they spun up the #1 oldie.

🎶I think it's gonna be all right
Yeah the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining
like a rreeeddd rubber ballll…

SSkkkkrrrittttch. DJ says, "Just kidding."

I don't remember what the real #1 was.

131 Derak, I forgot to mention Colace. Take it as directed. The opioids will clog you up and you want to stay ahead of that.

Also, you will be directed to stay ahead of the recovery pain. Take the pain relievers as directed and don't try to tough it out. It actually requires less medicine to stay comfortable than it does if you wait until you hurt and then try to get it under control. You will probably be able to taper off sooner than your doctor will tell you to expect to.

It's funny. When Britain (finally) switched over to the Gregorian, they didn't use to the term at all. It was the "New Style" calendar. Many were opposed to the "papist calendar". They even adopted the Greogorian computus of Easter rules, but didn't mention anything about the source.

Washington's Julian birthdate was Feb 11, 1731. Proleptic Gregorian is Feb 22, 1732. The year difference is because the New Style switched the start of the year to the common Jan 1, rather than March 25.

The amazing thing that you see in a repeated pattern in Europe is that people can vote for the same parties/people that are giving them policies they hate or vote for people their media say are "bad" but promise the policies they want and...these people go vote for the former and are shocked when the results continue to be the same shitty results.

I know there is rampant fraud but...I think enough Euro-idiots just keep doing this and even the simplest of thinking would tell you "vote the other party it literally can't be worse than what we have now".

The two balance one another. Justice can be harsh, because it is what you deserve. Mercy lightens the punishment.

Looking at the millions of children slaughtered in the US over the past 50 years, we deserve a brutal punishment. That is where mercy comes in.

The question is where to draw the line. Opinions differ.

As in the OT, many that were of the "twelve tribes", not all were faithful. Often the faithful had to hide in tribes. These OT lessons still apply ... who are the Real Faithful? Tribal Culture is "tribal", but not pure.

340 Speaking of Stephen Hatfill I see he was one of Trump's COVID advisors that told him Brix and Fauci were lying. I hope Trump has a role for him somewhere in the NIH...

Oh one other weird thing about Hatfill - he went on a lawsuit odyssey going after all the people that had intentionally slandered him. One of those was a researcher at Harvard Medical School but when Hatfill sued him they found out it wasn't the HMS guy, it was someone impersonating him from...South Africa who settled for a bunch of money. This screams an earlier incarnation of the Junta was behind the Hatfill slander.

I smoked cigars intermittently during the 90s, but after a really nasty bout of pneumonia I gave them up and haven't missed them. I smoked one for a promotion party in Germany around 2012, and I felt embalmed the next day.

Vaping offered a similar vibe, and I did enjoy the billowing clouds of vapor one could make, and also the flavor (I never inhaled smoke into the lungs, just tasted it) but ultimately it seemed a waste of money, and it did make me edgy.

379 Groups Have Power.

Groups Become Corrupt.

This is our dilemma.

The most straight forward answer to this is to give those groups competitors. In Heritage America Democrat and Republican politicians were in competition, so if one side got two corrupt it would be easy for the other to go public and gain due to this corruption.

This is part of the reason things really started to go to shit after the left got controlled-pedo Hastert as the most powerful Republican in DC, and earlier the collapse of the Soviets removed another competitor for western elites. By 2000 there was one political party for all intents and purposes, and it believed itself to be an unaccountable hyperpower that could literally do anything.

Not mine. I'm a (late) convert to the Church, in large part because she has endured while others continue to fade.

There is a cycle over the centuries of decline and renewal, but the Church endures. She is greater than any pope, and Francis has unwittingly exposed sin and corruption, which can now inaugurate a new cycle of renewal and redemption.

Classical political theory held that parties would shift from losing positions to winning ones. That is, having seen the public shift away from a position, a party would then move to a more popular one. A party with a narrow majority would try to expanding by looking at what the public wanted and giving it to them.

But now we are in a place where the Dems hate the majority, and happily embrace the 20 side of an 80-20 division. What can be done with such people?

399 "The most straight forward answer to this is to give those groups competitors."

That is kinda the recent "Jacksonian" versus Jeffersonian/Madisonian thang.

In general, it is "Us" versus "them" Them is the powers that be, Us is "we the people. But We the People have to "organize", under the (Jacksonian version of) the constitution.

Well, evil has also endured. Islam has endured. The old testament record shows Israel endured, while often only a few remained faithful.

imo we owe a lot to some faithful scribes that gave us some scripts, while those in power became evil. Luther (and others) protested correctly. They did not go far enough. As we see now in the political realm, constant protest against The Powers That Be is the correct course of action.

Great ... I tried a Biblical studies course for just over a decade, and still pursue "Truth". But while I still have close ties with those that pursued the great quest in old days, I am on my own in personal belief.

But my one general conclusion is that Big Groups become corrupt, and individuals must seek their own way ... or their own relationship with "their higher power". Yes that power is "God", but the true God is not the god of general "church" dogma.

446 Someone on a different board put this request to Chatgpt. Here's the answer from Chatgpt:

"I'm a government employee who does nothing. please write 5 things I did last week for an email.

Chatgpt: Here are five vague but professional-sounding tasks for your email:

Subject: Weekly Update

Hi [Recipient],

Here’s a quick summary of what I worked on last week:
Reviewed and monitored ongoing projects to ensure compliance with department objectives.
Participated in meetings to discuss key initiatives and provide input where necessary.
Handled correspondence and inquiries, ensuring timely communication with stakeholders.
Conducted research on policy updates relevant to our operations.
Assisted in administrative tasks to support team efficiency."

How hard is this? If you're a fed employee, find out which statutes you are working under and fill in the tasks you did following something like the above Chatgpt response.

Citing the statutes and the work you did for them should guarantee your future employment, provided that you made some kind of effort to do the work.

Not exactly rocket science but it is enjoyable to watch the Trump-haters freak out over this one.

I asked Grok if I could define Grok as a default search engine to my Windows web browser. It gave me back a clear and detailed answer why currently this is not possible both from Grok's and the browser's ends.

Grok also told me that if I'm technically savvy, this might be currently done through scripting but I'm not going there.

That was the easy stuff. I have been asking Grok for complex technical coding examples in assembler language. It just spits them out in a second, with detailed but very readable explanations of the instructions used and the coding logic.

He's not wrong but he just still doesn't take it far enough. His theory is the left just wrote off the right calling anyone that disagrees with the left a NAZI and so now people on the right won't listen to them. Is that true? Yes but...not far enough.

The left embraced everything we traditionally know as evil. Then called anyone that didn't join them evil and tried to cancel, if not imprison, them.

The correct response to this, which Trump seems to get is...cancel and imprison them first. This isn't about discussions anymore. It is war.

When Fauci is in jail, the architects of the Uke war are in jail, the "medical establishment" behind mutilating kids is in jail AND the left says yeah those guys are bad and we encouraged them and that was wrong...then we can start having discussions again. But first you have to get those people in jail and their movement thoroughly defeated.

It happens literally every single day in the private sector, downsizing when output doesn't meet resources and sometimes good people get taken out, but only in government do the rules not apply and we have to keep funding a government we can't afford.

We're $36 trillion and soon $37 billion in debt and on the edge of insolvency. So is China but that's a different issue. We need dramatic action or all babies will be tossed out with all bathwater.

This is yet another odd part of our current moment. With $36T in debt and rampant inflation the government has failed abjectly. Those running our economy policy should be begging for our forgiveness and resigning to turn things over to those that might be more competent.

Instead they act shocked that many, and still not yet all, are being fired.

Ran AOP question through chatgpt to see the diff.

The Studebaker Champion engine refers to a series of 6-cylinder engines that Studebaker produced over several years, starting in the late 1930s and continuing through the 1950s. For your question about "Palnuts," if you're referring to the specific nuts used in the engine, it's likely you're asking about the type of lock nuts or retaining nuts used for various components, like valve rocker arms or cylinder heads.

Palnuts (a type of locking nut) were used in automotive applications to prevent loosening due to vibrations. However, the exact size and number of these nuts would depend on the specific model and year of the Studebaker Champion engine.

Would you happen to have a specific year or engine model in mind (e.g., 1939, 1950, etc.)? That would help narrow down the details!

Heh. They got that 100% wrong. There are exactly 12 Palnuts, and they are used on the connecting rod bolts to secure the main nuts from backing off. They are an odd size, I think 11/32 NF. There are none in the places Grok quoted. A large palnut is used to secure the oil pressure gauge in its housing, and tiny ones are used on the mounting studs for some of the instruments.

541 That Dodge Polara I bought in 1973 was 10 years old. I paid my brother $300. He had bought it the year before for $200.
I was making $5.00/hour and Levis cost $25. How screwed up has our economy become?

I have a friend who would give his left nut for a 63 polara.

$5 an hour? That was 3x the minimum wage. You were doing good.

I haven’t bought Levi’s in 30 years. How much are they now?

549 My folks bought an ex Highway patrol interceptor at auction. 1973 Chrysler Newport. 440 Hemi. Grocery getter for Mom. Loads of room for the kids.
It was the fastest car in Lee's Summit Mo as long as I could get the competitor to go from a rolling start.
Floor it from a stop, and it would kind of growl.. suck about 5 gallons of gas and then start to go.
Start at 20 miles/hour or so, and you could stomp that thing... unfrigginbelievable!
I'd end up in the back seat, and you could see the gas gauge start to drop.l
The folks figgered the reason it didn't last was because the engine idled so much on patrol.

I still can't tell what really happened except that manufacturing is no longer the mainstay of American life. Some things are far too cheap, and some things are far too expensive.

I think they were paying something silly like 18X the face value. A dude I know raided his parents silver coins at that time. He said they approved, but he was a bit shady, so who knows. It got him something like $2000 and he spent it on drugs and following the WHO around on some of their tour stops. 2K in 1980 money was serious shit.

563 Said to have originated in a bar in Alaska on a slow night when the bartender and an older woman were testing recipes. The woman drank a few here of these and then came up with the name “Duck Fart”.

In case it hasn't been covered, Duck Farts were invented at the Peanut Farm on Old Seward Highway, where they are still served when ordered just as they were back then. Other bars may have laid claim to them, but I imbibed back when the drinking age was 19, so I'm pretty sure that's where they started. The part of the bar they built as a strip club is now a sports bar--titties quit being a selling point sometime in the 90's. Now if you want that, you have to go to the Bush Company, an establishment I have never visited even though it has been around since the pipeline days.

Posted by: tcn in AK at February 23, 2025 02:28 AM (K2hug)

564 The name "Duck Fart" came about because the Peanut Farm is on Campbell Creek, so, ducks, but the face the old lady made looked like someone had farted, so... Duck Farts.

565 When I started driving, gas was 0.69/gal. Fully leaded. Cigarettes were about the same/pack. A can of pop was a quarter, so was a candy bar, and they were full size. Keeping your change in a jar was the smart thing to do because you could spend it. Now? Not so much.

And get the hell off my lawn.

The Hunt brothers saga is interesting. Paul Volcker at the Fed destroyed them using the power of the Fed. They were messin' where they shouldn't be messin'.

It almost backfired. Volcker's actions cause the price of silver to drop 50% in a day, wiping out the Hunt brothers. If it was their own money, too bad so sad. But they have leveraged heavily, and so their lenders were in trouble.

Volcker had to then bail them out, or their creditors, otherwise a financial crisis would've ensued. The price to the Hunts was, stop messing with silver.

Place got burglarized when we were on vacation.

He was very upset about that for a long time.

576 I could see "a disco duck" immanentizing on the horizon of the Saskatchewan going on here; and it filled my heart with dread.

When it immanentized on the hardwood floor and the hard luck lives of all involved saw it feathered in life, a minor worry of mine came true.

Sure, disco was really bad. How much worse to add a ducking duck.

You have no idea of the bills that were laid and paid and proposed, but of course she said no, I mean really?

Ignore the black robed hacks and be done with it. Let them stomp their little feet. Maybe, THEN, the worthless Supremes will get involved. The American people are pissed, and the these little hacks in black need to be made aware of that fact.

Reid’s show, “The ReidOut,” which airs at 7 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays, would be replaced by a panel show featuring MSNBC hosts Symone Sanders-Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez, The New York Times reported. MSNBC host Alex Wagner’s show, slated to return in April, is also reportedly on the chopping block, with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki planned as her replacement.
