My first thought in response to this is that Napoleon was able to seize power because the leftist government running France before he seized power were mass murdering manics.
So if Trump is Napoleon that means he is also explicitly at improvement over Biden's Jacobins.
As a leader, Napoleon acted as a competent king, something France hadn't had in a long time between those Jacobins and the incompetents before him, however Napoleon was a bit of a war monger and of course his neighbors had little interest in peace anyway seeing Napoleon as just another Jacobin in many ways.

I'm not up and up on German free speech laws during the 1920s but I do believe that the Weimar authorities did their best to suppress the Nazis' speech & actions, and especially their ideology. This increased after the failed Beer Hall Putsch which resulted in Hitler going to prison.
One could argue that the suppression of the Nazis by the communists and conservatives is what led so many Germans to start voting for them in the first place.
A lot of Germans were blaming the Jews & Bolsheviks & Anarchists & Homosexuals & Gypsies before Hitler came along.
The Nazis just gave them a voice and call to action.
So Margaret's point really doesn't hold up under scrutiny even if you try to understand it.

Up to and during WWI Germany was one of the lesser anti-Semitic countries in Europe which made it very easy for people like Hitler to in turn blame the Jews.
The Bolsheviks had launched actual insurrections in Germany and were killing people on the streets. It was a real problem as the establish right in Germany eventually lost the ability to stop them and the establishment left cheered them on
As for homosexuals and gypsies, well, the break down in order, again with the right unable to control and the left cheering it on was obvious to see to anyone with eyes.
And so the NAZIs stepped into all these areas promising to "fix" them but they were only able to do so because the existing German political system was unresponsive and didn't really care about the needs of the populace.

As I heard it, along with the drive for unity of the German principalities in to a German state, was also the drive to regularize German names as well. So you had some families who had adopted Latin names. If your ancestors had the name for Lead or lead ore, and had taken "Plumbum" because it was higher status (like George Bauer taking the name Agricola), and that was later considered a dialect name which was converted to Pflaumenbaum, or "plum tree"
