Trump Takes the Presidential Limo Out for a Lap Around the Daytona Race Track

President Donald Trump received cheers from the crowd at Daytona International Speedway as Air Force One landed at the airport ahead of his arrival for the Daytona 500 on Sunday.
The president's plane flew over the speedway before it landed at Daytona International Airport. Cheers from the crowd were heard on the FOX broadcast as the pre-race hosts talked to Chase Elliott. NASCAR fans and drivers watched as the plane flew over the track.
Trump released a statement ahead of landing at the airport. He will be the first sitting president to attend two Daytona 500 races at Daytona International Speedway. He attended the race the first time in February 2020.
"This iconic race showcases the fastest, most fearless drivers in motorsports, who represent our Nation's love of tradition, competition, and automotive innovation," the statement read. "The Daytona 500 brings together people from all walks of life--from lifelong racing fans to first-time spectators--they all join in celebrating a shared passion for speed, adrenaline, and the thrill of the race.
"From the roar of the engines on the track to the echo of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' soaring through the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength, and unyielding spirit that make America great. That spirit is what will fuel America's Golden Age, and if we harness it, the future is truly ours."
The president was seen riding around the track in The Beast before he chatted with NASCAR drivers and legendary racer Richard Petty.
He was on hand for the singing of the national anthem. He thanked U.S. military members for their service in his statement.
"Since the very beginning, NASCAR has carried forth a proud tradition of honoring our heroic Service members for their unwavering courage," the statement added. "While fans from around the world gather today at Daytona International Speedway, we extend our unending gratitude to the selfless men and women in uniform who risk their lives to keep us safe. When the engines start or the checkered flag waves, and all 500 thrilling miles in between, our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardians stand ready to defend cherished traditions like this--and for that, we are truly thankful.

My first reaction to this was, "Cool." But my second reaction was, "This risks overexposure." Americans like their politicians like they like their children, seen but not heard.

But my third reaction is: Good. The left used regime change "color revolution" tactics against Trump in his first term, sowing doubt about whether he was the real legitimate president. They're doing that again, though it's harder this time.

So I think it's okay to fight fire with fire. When rebellions attempt to displace a leader, standard tactics are to get on TV and declare oneself president over and over again.

It's all third-world theatrics, but the left has brought this nation down to a third-world level.

And, anyway, it was pretty cool watching him go around the track in the limo.

A good point....in a vacuum. You have to take into account the behavior of the Left (and more specifically, Biden and Harris). They hid from exposure, because they couldn't afford the results of being seen and heard. Trump seems to be putting up a contrast. It's not just an empty suit in the White House. And, if your fundamental basis for acquiring the Presidency is to address the wrongs to the people, you damn well better connect with them. I don't think his heightened exposure is a negative...(except maybe for security purposes).

Agree. I used to watch F1, every race. But when they went to the terrible -- and overcomplicated -- new turbo hybrid cars, the races got boring and the overall vibe was dumbed down into a reality TV show. There's almost no passing without that stupid DRS, there's such a big difference b/t the fastest cars and the slowest, and it's clear that at least half the grid don't really deserve to be there (they bought their seats).

I did...dirty little secret is that b/c DC is such a liberal court, literally THOUSANDS of cases got filed last week asking for TROs for every angle on Trump issues and the judges are OVERWHELMED with work...and now they are PISSED b/c they are used to not working b/c the DC court is not really a hip hop happening court.

One judge only let a proposed case have yes or no answers from the plaintiff for the TPO and instadenied virtually in 13 minutes over the weekend. Defense (smartly) never had to say a word.

He did go full speed ahead (no pun intended) in creating a divide that actually saw him earn more than a few sponsors.

The consensus seems to be "it didn't suck too badly." Its a meh film, not standout, but not Eternals-level awful. I expect a pretty big drop off after the Valentines Day weekend.

The film seems to be doing pretty well at discount theaters, you know the theater-pub place you can get a meal and watch a movie for cheaper than usual. In major expensive theaters, not selling many tickets.

BRICS is not so much a currency as it is a hard money international exchange system to challenge the USD and SWIFT. It was made necessary by the US excluding Russia, Iran and threatening other countries from participating in SWIFT and embargoing their banking.
It will continue as long as there is concern of this happening again.
You may dislike it, but you either have to live with it or make sure it is not necessary to survive.

Just as an example, BRICS is supposed to be based on an actual "basket" of assets that can be used to back an international exchange currency held by the member states, much like Trump's proposed Sovereign wealth fund for the US.

I saw with my wife as a favor to her. It was a 5pm Saturday showing. There was around twenty people in the whole theater. The movie itself was a confusing mess consisting of callbacks (I guess) to other series or movies I hadn't seen. Even my wife, who's much more up to date on this stuff, was baffled by some of it. Editing was poor; characters came and went with little or no explanation. Mackie was ok, but in my opinion would've been far better served staying as Falcon instead of being shoehorned in as Captain America.

It isn't America hating, it is surviving debanking. They would be fools to do anything otherwise while that threat is over their heads, and the ones that go along want to be in on what could be exclusive market access.
The USD will survive mostly out of Network Effect - every country uses it or doesn't trade, it is that useful. There are other problems with that, and I suspect the USD will split to "US only dollars" and "International Petro-dollars" in a way that is similar to the Chinese Yuan and Remb-whatever.
I do think we will wind up using a crypto-token internationally eventually, since it doesn't require everyone to trust each others' central banks to play fair.

I think that is the unanimous opinion. Trivia: He was the first black comic book superhero without "black" in his name (Black Lightning, Black Panther, etc etc). He was just Falcon and happened to be black but that wasn't his defining characteristic.

Everyone liked him as Falcon. But Mackie doesn't have the charisma to lead a movie and has no real backstory or hook. He's just the sidekick. Apparently this movie doesn't give him any character either, which is too bad.
