Once again, the brain-glitching invalid Mitch McConnell joined his corrupt Democrat allies to oppose Trump. What makes this even sweeter is that the usual sell-outs and traitors all desperately wanted to sink this nomination (and most of the others). Thom Tillis, John Cornyn, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, John Thune, and the whole gang of RINOs all intended to vote together against Trump's nominees. But we pressured them. We knuckled them under. We made them bow. There's a Wall Street Journal article about Tillis' scheming to get Pete Hegseth's brother's ex-wife to trash him in public so that Tillis would have a pretext to vote against him. But then the forces of MAGA made it clear to him that if he voted "No" his career was over. And he bent the knee. I'd almost prefer making these vain, useless, corrupt monsters do the right thing through bullying and political menace than if they were actually good people choosing to do the right thing. Now we just need Kash Patel and we've run the table. Apart from the early bobble with Matt Gaetz.

I don't think there is a puppetmaster. I think the puppets are running the asylum.
Just hundreds or thousands of independent puppets whose only goals are to get as rich and powerful as possible, interacting with other puppets and working together when their goals align, but working against each other when they don't.
Which in many ways is a much more difficult problem to fix than if there were some man behind the curtain pulling the strings.

I hope Gaetz gets more active, I always liked the guy. Maybe he can be renominated for something after 2026 which looks like a good year for MAGA Senate: the D incumbents in MI and MN aren't seeking reelection so those seats could be tossups.

I think I saw a story years ago which claimed Americans are basically subsidizing drugs in the EU due to EU price controls, through paying higher prices at home.

Look at the gameplan the Dems had set for Pete and RFK Jr.
It all relied on the tired, well-worn--but previously effective--#BelieveAllWomen.
That all hinged on having Gaetz as the unlikable face and "part of a pattern."
Instead, he resigns, then withdraws while Trump overwhelms them with multiple attacks, not giving them time to regroup.
Pete gets pushed through, the high-water mark of their opposition, and every other nominee flows easily through in the wake.

Apparently, SCOTUS has been chipping away at it over the past few years, and the pump may be primed to get rid of it completely.

Yes, we subsidize the entire world. Big time. Big Pharma makes more money in the US than anywhere else. One of the biggest scams that needs to be unraveled is the pharmacy benefit managers.
These are supposed intermediaries who negotiate for lower drug prices.
However, they are largely owned by the insurance companies and are another way to scam the government and individuals out of money. They work with big pharma to set very high list prices, then negotiate the percentage discounts off those list prices. Insurance and government pays that "discounted rate" which is still massively higher than the rate anyone else in the world pays.
And they, of course, take their skim off the top too, adding additional costs to the system.
In many ways, we have the worst of capitalism and socialism with our medical system.

If you have a problem not knowing when to stop on the ice cream, try adding a slight amount of table salt.
Leaving out the salt lets the manufacturer drop posting a sodium number on the label, and it makes the ice cream less satisfying, leading to bigger servings or seconds.
Manufacturers can pretend to care about how their customers rate a product, but raising satisfaction takes a far back seat to increased sales due to increased consumption.

I recently found a 1916 North Dakota cookbook. It had a recipe for what is basically home freezer ice cream that ends with “and put out to freeze in two one-pound coffee cans.”

If you read the whole story about the CIA trying to extort $25 million from his father, you see that he and his family were involved in some bizarre stuff (and it wasn't his dad's fault) Matt admitted being involved in some skanky stuff, but nothing illegal other than the 17 year old who had a state issued ID saying she was 18 from a Florida Transportation official who's now in jail.
But lets just say that Gaetz, while not convictable of anything, has way too much baggage around him to ever have served in a high profile cabinet position.

Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta was considered too...wild...to be allowed to assume the presidency but because of some odd aspects of the Mexican constitution the PRI had to let him run. There's an industry standard I think of how much milk fat they can reduce, and how much air they can add, to make it still fall under the label of cream. The better brands out in more fat and less air. If the cheap stuff melts fats with nothing left, it's probably at that air line.
