Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | RFKJr. Confirmed as Secretary of MAHA, 52-48Happy Thursday! I have always considered Thursday to be the Thanksgiving of the week. Once again, the brain-glitching invalid Mitch McConnell joined his corrupt Democrat allies to oppose Trump. What makes this even sweeter is that the usual sell-outs and traitors all desperately wanted to sink this nomination (and most of the others). Thom Tillis, John Cornyn, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, John Thune, and the whole gang of RINOs all intended to vote together against Trump's nominees. But we pressured them. We knuckled them under. We made them bow. There's a Wall Street Journal article about Tillis' scheming to get Pete Hegseth's brother's ex-wife to trash him in public so that Tillis would have a pretext to vote against him. But then the forces of MAGA made it clear to him that if he voted "No" his career was over. And he bent the knee. I'd almost prefer making these vain, useless, corrupt monsters do the right thing through bullying and political menace than if they were actually good people choosing to do the right thing. Now we just need Kash Patel and we've run the table. Apart from the early bobble with Matt Gaetz.

The question is who are the puppetmasters for this horrendous situation? or does it require the removal and permanent political exile of most of our elite class and their institutions? I don't have those answers as it is possible the cure is worse than the disease. Posted by: whig at February 13, 2025 12:03 PM (ctrM5) I don't think there is a puppetmaster. I think the puppets are running the asylum. Just hundreds or thousands of independent puppets whose only goals are to get as rich and powerful as possible, interacting with other puppets and working together when their goals align, but working against each other when they don't. Which in many ways is a much more difficult problem to fix than if there were some man behind the curtain pulling the strings. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at February 13, 2025 12:08 PM (uCjyK) 26

If we have a mine underground processing and keeping all federal retirement packages...but we started a digitization movement in 2014 that is woefully behind... Why did we not also digitize all future retirements starting in 2014, so we wouldn't build on the backlog? I hope Gaetz gets more active, I always liked the guy. Maybe he can be renominated for something after 2026 which looks like a good year for MAGA Senate: the D incumbents in MI and MN aren't seeking reelection so those seats could be tossups. I think I saw a story years ago which claimed Americans are basically subsidizing drugs in the EU due to EU price controls, through paying higher prices at home. Since waste and corruption is a theme, I can see RFK Jr really going after how drugs are marketed and sold in America. Perhaps we'll find out we have been subsidizing drugs in the EU due to RFK Jr. Posted by: blake - semi lurker in marginal standing (tT6L1) at February 13, 2025 12:15 PM (tT6L1) 82
Gaetz was a ploy to give him a graceful exit; remove a big distraction that would have been used as a hook to hinder all of Trump's nominees.
Look at the gameplan the Dems had set for Pete and RFK Jr. It all relied on the tired, well-worn--but previously effective--#BelieveAllWomen. That all hinged on having Gaetz as the unlikable face and "part of a pattern." Instead, he resigns, then withdraws while Trump overwhelms them with multiple attacks, not giving them time to regroup. Pete gets pushed through, the high-water mark of their opposition, and every other nominee flows easily through in the wake. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at February 13, 2025 12:15 PM (uyRWq) 83

An anti-corporatist as HHS, against big pharmaceutical corporations, is not a bad situation.
Way back before Trump I remember one of the GOPe/NT types wrote an article at NRO saying it was time to stop voting for just conservatives and instead find pols from across the political spectrum that would transactionally do the right things. I read the article at the time as just another GOPe plea to vote for them instead, but he wasn't completely wrong. Out of the list of things RFK has talked about doing a bunch are things I don't care about but a few are really, really important. Way back before Trump I remember one of the GOPe/NT types wrote an article at NRO saying it was time to stop voting for just conservatives and instead find pols from across the political spectrum that would transactionally do the right things.
- The argument we used to be given was that we were bad for criticizing someone we agreed with 95% of the time, just because we cared about the other 5%. And this was *always* for people who primarily cared about that 5% and only ever had energy to push that, while they gave lip service to the 95%. RFK Jr., I might disagree with 95% of the time (but maybe not), but I know the stuff I agree with him is pretty much the only stuff he can pursue from that position. This is a massive improvement. ( I wasn't sure it that was you, Black Orchid, or you were quoting someone else) some people may be mad- too baf for them. Some things need to be said and some people are in real denial and they're scared. They don't want to admit that the shots harmed those they loved, but it's not their fault. They themselves were either pressured into it by work and they thought they were doing the right things for themselves or ones they loved. It seems to be a reinforcing loop -- get weight related ailments, have to take drugs with millions of side effects, need more drugs, eat more garbage food, etc. etc. RFK will be in a position to try to change at least some of that. The Deep State must fear RFK Jr.
Posted by: blake - semi lurker in marginal standing (tT6L1) at February 13, 2025 12:15 PM (tT6L1) Its all true, and not just the EU, but also Canada. "And [Tillis] bent the knee."
Wasn't just this shitmonger they made bend the knee. It was Ernst too. She also tried to sink Hegseth. This was at the time when Muh Resistance was at its peak, and there was real hope from Dumocraps they they -- with some help from the GOP limpdicks -- could sink Trump's picks. They came at Hegseth hard, with the usual sex-crimes playbook. They thought they could stop him. But Trump and his people whipped Ernst into shape. It was like Tillis and Ernst thought they were playing the same old games, but then they dragged back behind the woodshed. The other wobbly GOP invertebrates took notice and grew a tiny semblance of a sack. Hegseth got confirmed and all the air was let out of the Democraps' hopes and dreams. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at February 13, 2025 12:32 PM (VwHCD) Yes, we subsidize the entire world. Big time. Big Pharma makes more money in the US than anywhere else. One of the biggest scams that needs to be unraveled is the pharmacy benefit managers. These are supposed intermediaries who negotiate for lower drug prices. However, they are largely owned by the insurance companies and are another way to scam the government and individuals out of money. They work with big pharma to set very high list prices, then negotiate the percentage discounts off those list prices. Insurance and government pays that "discounted rate" which is still massively higher than the rate anyone else in the world pays. And they, of course, take their skim off the top too, adding additional costs to the system. In many ways, we have the worst of capitalism and socialism with our medical system. RE: Ice Cream
If you have a problem not knowing when to stop on the ice cream, try adding a slight amount of table salt. Leaving out the salt lets the manufacturer drop posting a sodium number on the label, and it makes the ice cream less satisfying, leading to bigger servings or seconds. Manufacturers can pretend to care about how their customers rate a product, but raising satisfaction takes a far back seat to increased sales due to increased consumption. Yes, we subsidize the entire world. Big time. Big Pharma makes more money in the US than anywhere else. One of the biggest scams that needs to be unraveled is the pharmacy benefit managers.

Unintended consequences are a b***h.
It is also possible that Borisov was simply fired because of the generally poor state of affairs at Roscosmos, which is saddled with myriad problems, including: corruption, a lack of investment, low wages and poor employee morale, Russia’s war against Ukraine draining talent, a reliance on technology half a century old, and shrinking commercial markets...Russia simply does not have the state budget to support significant investments in its space programs, and the country’s technical efforts are bent on weapons rather than spaceflight. It also has virtually no commercial space market, as everything is controlled by Roscosmos or its state-owned subsidiaries. The Ukraine war has exacerbated Russia’s decline in space. The country’s space program survived the breakup of the Soviet Union a quarter of a century ago by partnering with the West. It formed the coalition of nations that built the International Space Station, with NASA providing significant financial support. European companies bought launches on the Soyuz rocket. American launch companies bought Russian rocket engines. But most of that is over now https://is.gd/OVt4vQ Posted by: Archimedes at February 13, 2025 12:49 PM (xCA6C) 366

——— You haven’t tasted unadulterated ice cream before. Nothing needs to be added to Ice cream. All it does is make it foamy. That’s it. Bigger container, looks larger. It makes it less creamy, not more. When Ice Cream is made, it will expand in volume naturally. That’s what they are trying to duplicate. It adds a gummy, slimy note to it. Guar gum. Trust Me. The hosts of ABC’s “The View” took their commentary a few steps lower on Thursday when, during a segment devoted almost entirely to complaining about billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, they took a brief time out to mock his four-year-old son over his unusual name, X Æ A-XII. The cohosts were responding to a televised briefing from the Oval Office during which Musk laid out some of what he had been uncovering with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) project. President Donald Trump sat behind the resolute desk throughout the briefing, and Musk stood at his right shoulder. “Lil X,” as Musk calls his son, was also in the room at the time — a fact that did not escape Goldberg’s attention.
